  • Vertex data split into separate buffers or one one structure?

    - by kiba2
Is it better to have all vertex data in one structure like this: class MyVertex { int x,y,z; int u,v; int normalx, normaly, normalz; } Or to have each component (location, normal, texture coordinates) in separate arrays/buffers? To me it always seemed logical to keep the data grouped together in one structure because they'd always be the same for each instance of a shared vertex and that seems to be true for things like character models (ex: the normal should be an average of adjacent normals for smooth lighting). One instance where this doesn't seem to work is other kinds of meshes like say a cube where the texture coordinates for each may be the same but that causes them to be different where the vertices are shared. Does everybody normally keep them separate? Won't this make them less space efficient if there needs to be an instance of texture coordinates and normals for each triangle vertex (They won't be indexed)? Can OpenGL even handle this mixing of indexed (for location) vs non-indexed buffers in the same VBO?

  • URL Frame redirection CakePHP

    - by themanbehindoftheprojectmayhem
I need to redirect CakePHP installation host to my domain. Location of my Cakephp installation: myhosting.com/newsite/ Domain: www.mydomain.com I'm currently using URL Frame to direct www.mydomain.com to myhosting.com/newsite/. Problem When I load www.mydomain.com, I see all links in the site is pointing to the hosting location - example - myhosting.com/newsite/product/1 It should be pointing to www.mydomain.com/product/1 Any simple way to fix this? Probably very simple to solve it, but I can't bend it. Help much appreciated.

  • GitHub OS project how to have a good version and a work in progress version

    - by Para
I have started my own OS application, I am hosting it on GitHub. My problem is that I push changes to the repository from more than one location so sometimes I want to work on it and sometimes I can't always finish something in time but I would still like to push it anyway so I can fetch it later from my other location. I'd like to be able to somehow have a stable version and have the master branch be a 'work in progress'. How do I do this? Is there some button I can push that will take the code from my master branch and make it into a zip file in my downloads tab and call it a version or should I do this by hand? Would it be better to have the master branch be nice and neat and have a separate branch to play with and then merge the two when the time is right? Would this not cause more problems in the merging phase?

  • Root directory of the kernel

    - by user592748
A newbie here. I am trying to set up Eclipse for Linux Kernel Programming. The guide says set the project location as the root directory of the kernel. Where's the root directory of the kernel now? According to Linux file hierarchy system, it lists /lib as the root directory for shared libraries and kernel modules. I also see /lib32 and /lib64. However, I tried proceeding selecting /lib as the location and eclipse doesn't allow me to create the project.

  • Looking for feedback on design pattern for simple 2D environment

    - by Le Mot Juiced
I'm working in iOS. I am trying to make a very simple 2D environment where there are some basic shapes you can drag around with your finger. These shapes should interact in various ways when dropped on each other, or when single-tapped versus double-tapped, etc. I don't know the name for the design pattern I'm thinking of. Basically, you have a bunch of arrays named after attributes, such as "double-tappable" or "draggable" or "stackable". You assign these attributes to the shapes by putting the shapes in the arrays. So, if there's a double-tap event, the code gets the location of it, then iterates through the "double-tappable" array to see if any of its members are in that location. And so on: every interactive event causes a scan through the appropriate array or arrays. It seems like that should work, but I'm wondering if there's a better pattern for the purpose.

  • What is required to create local business rich-snippets complete with sitelinks AND breadcrumbs?

    - by Felix
I have a local business directory site. I would like to markup my business listing 'profile' level pages for display as enhanced listings/rich-snippets complete with business names, addresses and phone numbers. I would also like to display site-links and path-based breadcrumbs to help users navigate site directory hierarchy (which is deep). Is there a limit to the amount of breadcrumbs a site can leave? Is there a separate limit on the number of breadcrumbs which Google/Bing will display in the SERP? What kind of markup language(s) would be needed to best position my site to show site-links AND breadcrumbs? For example: Find a business Browse by Location State City Zip or Find a business Choose Service Browse by location State City Thanks all!

  • jQuery Mobile Frame Forwarding [on hold]

    - by Nizam
I have a site that does a standard forward to another site [301 Redirect]. In the redirected site, I detect if the device is a mobile using the following code: if (/Android|webOS|iPhone|iPad|iPod|BlackBerry/i.test(navigator.userAgent)) { window.location.replace("Mobile/Login/Login.aspx") } else { window.location.replace("Apps/Login/Login.aspx") } It works and jQuery mobile makes the site fits device very well. To do so, I use the following code in ASPX page: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1, maximum-scale=1" /> The problem is that I am wanting to frame forward - instead of standard forward - (there are a lot of advantages), but the site is not fitted for the device anymore, and even the icon I have chosen for my page is not well defined anymore. The code I use to set the icon of page is: <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="../../Apps/Imagens/Icone.png" /> My site is hosted by Mochahost My question is: Is there anything I could do to make it works?

  • What is Rails way to save images?

    - by user
I develop on iOS, and I'm switching from a PHP backend to Ruby on Rails. The interchange format is JSON. A quick Google search for 'save images in Rails' has nearly every result talking about saving image data as blobs to the database. I might be mistaken, but I'm under the impression that saving image data in a database is a huge waste of time and space (as opposed to saving a link to the file location ('/img/subcat/4656.png'). In PHP, it's pretty standard to receive the data, generate a filename, then save that file to disk, and then update the database with the image's location on disk. Is this the same for Rails, or is there some built-in ActiveRecord image functionality I'm not aware of?

tweetmeme_source = 'alpascual';Scott Guthrie started the thread of creating a Windows Phone 7 Twitter application in the Mix, followed by Miguel de Icaza creating an iPhone Twitter Client. So I thought to extend the demo to a full Twitter client that can actually sends Tweets as well in Windows Phone 7. I created the UI for the twitter client to login and the Status Text Box. I also wanted to use the location services, however the emulator does not support location just yet, always returns...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Changing AdWords campaign structure

    - by AlxVallejo
I've been running a campaign for about a year and a half now and the campaign has been setup by location. I'd have one campaign targeted for a specific region. And then I would duplicate the ad groups for each campaign. I have 5 ad groups targeting different areas of my business). This has worked reasonably well. It just occurred to me that it might easier if the campaign structure were reversed: 5 campaigns: each campaign focused on a different area of business and divided into 20+ adgroups (based on location). Will this screw up my campaign if I switch the structure? I have 10's for QS and I don't want to lose that!

  • SSMS Slow To Save

    - by Bunch
When using SSMS 2008 I found it to be really slow when trying to save a file, even a small one with just some simple SELECT statements on it. The symptoms were the flashing save disk icons in the lower right corner and selecting the location to save in the Save File dialog would hang each time I picked a location (e.g. Libraries, a folder). This was the first I had seen anything like this where it was really, really slow. It ended up that a server had died last week and I was still mapping a drive to it. SSMS was still trying to connect to it causing the slow down (further information here and here). Once I removed that the save functionality worked like it should. Tags: SQL

  • Using bone joints

    - by raser
I am trying to save bone joints to a file, and am using this format. I was wondering if anyone could clear up a few questions I have why do I need to provide rotation data for the bone, if I already gave it the location? How do I calculate the rotation of each axis if I have the relative location from the parent joint? ** EDIT ** After doing some more digging, I think that it has something to do with quaternions, so, could someone point me to a good resource on using quaternions for bone joints? ** EDIT AGAIN ** I think I've solved it, but I don't understand how it works. I can't seem to find any google results explaining it. I'd appreciate if anyone could send resources explaining it to me.

  • window.focus() not working in Google Chrome

    - by nickyt
    Hey folks, Just wondering if Google Chrome is going to support window.focus() at some point. When I mean support, I mean have it work. The call to it doesn't fail, it just doesn't do anything. All other major browsers do not have this problem: FireFox, IE6-IE8 and Safari. I have a client-side class for managing browser windows. When I first create a window the window comes into focus, but subsequent attempts to bring focus to the window do not work. From what I can tell, this appears to be a security feature to avoid annoying pop-ups and it does not appear to be a WebKit issue as it works in Safari. I know one idea someone brought forward was to close the window then reopen it, but this is a horrible solution. Googling shows that I do not appear to be the only person frustrated with this. And just to be 100% clear, I mean new windows, not tabs (tabs cannot be focused from what I've read) and all the windows being opened are in the same domain. Any ideas? MyCompany = { UI: {} }; // Put this here if you want to test the code. I create these namespaces elsewhere in code. MyCompany.UI.Window = new function() { // Private fields var that = this; var windowHandles = {}; // Public Members this.windowExists = function(windowTarget) { return windowTarget && windowHandles[windowTarget] && !windowHandles[windowTarget].closed; } this.open = function(url, windowTarget, windowProperties) { // See if we have a window handle and if it's closed or not. if (that.windowExists(windowTarget)) { // We still have our window object so let's check if the URLs is the same as the one we're trying to load. var currentLocation = windowHandles[windowTarget].location; if ( ( /^http(?:s?):/.test(url) && currentLocation.href !== url ) || ( // This check is required because the URL might be the same, but absolute, // e.g. /Default.aspx ... instead of http://localhost/Default.aspx ... !/^http(?:s?):/.test(url) && (currentLocation.pathname + currentLocation.search + currentLocation.hash) !== url ) ) { // Not the same URL, so load the new one. windowHandles[windowTarget].location = url; } // Give focus to the window. This works in IE 6/7/8, FireFox, Safari but not Chrome. // Well in Chrome it works the first time, but subsequent focus attempts fail,. I believe this is a security feature in Chrome to avoid annoying popups. windowHandles[windowTarget].focus(); } else { // Need to do this so that tabbed browsers (pretty much all browsers except IE6) actually open a new window // as opposed to a tab. By specifying at least one window property, we're guaranteed to have a new window created instead // of a tab. windowProperties = windowProperties || 'menubar=yes,location=yes,width=700, height=400, scrollbars=yes, resizable= yes'; windowTarget = windowTarget || "_blank"; // Create a new window. var windowHandle = windowProperties ? window.open(url, windowTarget, windowProperties) : window.open(url, windowTarget); if (null === windowHandle) { alert("You have a popup blocker enabled. Please allow popups for " + location.protocol + "//" + location.host); } else { if ("_blank" !== windowTarget) { // Store the window handle for reuse if a handle was specified. windowHandles[windowTarget] = windowHandle; windowHandles[windowTarget].focus(); } } } } }

  • How to get objects to react to touches in Cocos2D?

    - by Wayfarer
Alright, so I'm starting to learn more about Coco2D, but I'm kinda frusterated. A lot of the tutorials I have found are for outdated versions of the code, so when I look through and see how they do certain things, I can't translate it into my own program, because a lot has changed. With that being said, I am working in the latest version of Coco2d, version 0.99. What I want to do is create a sprite on the screen (Done) and then when I touch that sprite, I can have "something" happen. For now, let's just make an alert go off. Now, I got this code working with the help of a friend. Here is the header file: // When you import this file, you import all the cocos2d classes #import "cocos2d.h" // HelloWorld Layer @interface HelloWorld : CCLayer { CGRect spRect; } // returns a Scene that contains the HelloWorld as the only child +(id) scene; @end And here is the implementation file: // // cocos2d Hello World example // http://www.cocos2d-iphone.org // // Import the interfaces #import "HelloWorldScene.h" #import "CustomCCNode.h" // HelloWorld implementation @implementation HelloWorld +(id) scene { // 'scene' is an autorelease object. CCScene *scene = [CCScene node]; // 'layer' is an autorelease object. HelloWorld *layer = [HelloWorld node]; // add layer as a child to scene [scene addChild: layer]; // return the scene return scene; } // on "init" you need to initialize your instance -(id) init { // always call "super" init // Apple recommends to re-assign "self" with the "super" return value if( (self=[super init] )) { // create and initialize a Label CCLabel* label = [CCLabel labelWithString:@"Hello World" fontName:@"Times New Roman" fontSize:64]; // ask director the the window size CGSize size = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] winSize]; // position the label on the center of the screen label.position = ccp( size.width /2 , size.height/2 ); // add the label as a child to this Layer [self addChild: label]; CCSprite *sp = [CCSprite spriteWithFile:@"test2.png"]; sp.position = ccp(300,200); [self addChild:sp]; float w = [sp contentSize].width; float h = [sp contentSize].height; CGPoint aPoint = CGPointMake([sp position].x - (w/2), [sp position].y - (h/2)); spRect = CGRectMake(aPoint.x, aPoint.y, w, h); CCSprite *sprite2 = [CCSprite spriteWithFile:@"test3.png"]; sprite2.position = ccp(100,100); [self addChild:sprite2]; //[self registerWithTouchDispatcher]; self.isTouchEnabled = YES; } return self; } // on "dealloc" you need to release all your retained objects - (void) dealloc { // in case you have something to dealloc, do it in this method // in this particular example nothing needs to be released. // cocos2d will automatically release all the children (Label) // don't forget to call "super dealloc" [super dealloc]; } - (void)ccTouchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; //CGPoint location = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] convertCoordinate:[touch locationInView:touch.view]]; CGPoint location = [touch locationInView:[touch view]]; location = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] convertToGL:location]; if (CGRectContainsPoint(spRect, location)) { UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Win" message:@"testing" delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"okay" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; NSLog(@"TOUCHES"); } NSLog(@"Touch got"); } However, this only works for 1 object, the sprite which I create the CGRect for. I can't do it for 2 sprites, which I was testing. So my question is this: How can I have all sprites on the screen react to the same event when touched? For my program, the same event needs to be run for all objects of the same type, so that should make it a tad easier. I tried making a subclass of CCNode and over write the method, but that just didn't work at all... so I'm doing something wrong. Help would be appreciated!

  • Why do I get the error "Only antlib URIs can be located from the URI alone, not the URI" when trying to run hibernate tools in my build.xml

I'm trying to run hibernate tools in an ant build to generate ddl from my JPA annotations. Ant dies on the taskdef tag. I've tried with ant 1.7, 1.6.5, and 1.6 to no avail. • FormatException with IsolatedStorageSettings

    - by Jurgen Camilleri
I have a problem when serializing a Dictionary<string,Person> to IsolatedStorageSettings. I'm doing the following: public Dictionary<string, Person> Names = new Dictionary<string, Person>(); if (!IsolatedStorageSettings.ApplicationSettings.Contains("Names")) { //Add to dictionary Names.Add("key", new Person(false, new System.Device.Location.GeoCoordinate(0, 0), new List<GeoCoordinate>() { new GeoCoordinate(35.8974, 14.5099), new GeoCoordinate(35.8974, 14.5099), new GeoCoordinate(35.8973, 14.5100), new GeoCoordinate(35.8973, 14.5099) })); //Serialize dictionary to IsolatedStorage IsolatedStorageSettings.ApplicationSettings.Add("Names", Names); IsolatedStorageSettings.ApplicationSettings.Save(); } Here is my Person class: [DataContract] public class Person { [DataMember] public bool Unlocked { get; set; } [DataMember] public GeoCoordinate Location { get; set; } [DataMember] public List<GeoCoordinate> Bounds { get; set; } public Person(bool unlocked, GeoCoordinate location, List<GeoCoordinate> bounds) { this.Unlocked = unlocked; this.Location = location; this.Bounds = bounds; } } The code works the first time, however on the second run I get a System.FormatException at the if condition. Any help would be highly appreciated thanks. P.S.: I tried an IsolatedStorageSettings.ApplicationSettings.Clear() but the call to Clear also gives a FormatException. I have found something new...the exception occurs twenty-five times, or at least that's how many times it shows up in the Output window. However after that, the data is deserialized perfectly. Should I be worried about the exceptions if they do not stop the execution of the program? Hello friends I try to use fop engine programatically I search for an example and I find this class import java.io.File; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.OutputStream; import javax.xml.transform.Transformer; import javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory; import javax.xml.transform.TransformerException; import javax.xml.transform.Source; import javax.xml.transform.Result; import javax.xml.transform.stream.StreamSource; import javax.xml.transform.sax.SAXResult; import org.apache.avalon.framework.ExceptionUtil; import org.apache.avalon.framework.logger.ConsoleLogger; import org.apache.avalon.framework.logger.Logger; import org.apache.fop.apps.Driver; import org.apache.fop.apps.FOPException; import org.apache.fop.messaging.MessageHandler; public class Invokefop { public void convertXML2PDF(File xml, File xslt, File pdf) throws IOException, FOPException, TransformerException { Driver driver = new Driver(); Logger logger = new ConsoleLogger(ConsoleLogger.LEVEL_INFO); driver.setLogger(logger); MessageHandler.setScreenLogger(logger); driver.setRenderer(Driver.RENDER_PDF); OutputStream out = new java.io.FileOutputStream(pdf); try { driver.setOutputStream(out); TransformerFactory factory = TransformerFactory.newInstance(); Transformer transformer = factory.newTransformer(new StreamSource(xslt)); Source src = new StreamSource(xml); Result res = new SAXResult(driver.getContentHandler()); transformer.transform(src, res); } finally { out.close(); } } public static void main(String[] args) { try { System.out.println("JAVA XML2PDF:: FOP ExampleXML2PDF\n"); System.out.println("JAVA XML2PDF:: Preparing..."); File base = new File("../"); File baseDir = new File(base, "in"); File outDir = new File(base, "out"); outDir.mkdirs(); File xmlfile = new File(baseDir, args[0]); File xsltfile = new File(baseDir, args[1]); File pdffile = new File(outDir, args[2]); System.out.println("JAVA XML2PDF:: Input: XML (" + xmlfile + ")"); System.out.println("JAVA XML2PDF:: Stylesheet: " + xsltfile); System.out.println("JAVA XML2PDF:: Output: PDF (" + pdffile + ")"); System.out.println(); System.out.println("JAVA XML2PDF:: Transforming..."); Invokefop app = new Invokefop(); app.convertXML2PDF(xmlfile, xsltfile, pdffile); System.out.println("JAVA XML2PDF:: Success!"); } catch (Exception e) { System.err.println(ExceptionUtil.printStackTrace(e)); System.exit(-1); } } } All the Libs from Fop are in the Classpath including the fop.jar in build directory. After I run thejavac Invokefop.java I get this error: > C:\....\fop>javac Invokefop.java Invokefop.java:21: cannot find symbol symbol : class Driver location: package org.apache.fop.apps import org.apache.fop.apps.Driver; ^ Invokefop.java:23: package org.apache.fop.messaging does not exist import org.apache.fop.messaging.MessageHandler; ^ Invokefop.java:31: cannot find symbol symbol : class Driver location: class Invokefop Driver driver = new Driver(); ^ Invokefop.java:31: cannot find symbol symbol : class Driver location: class Invokefop Driver driver = new Driver(); ^ Invokefop.java:36: cannot find symbol symbol : variable MessageHandler location: class Invokefop MessageHandler.setScreenLogger(logger); ^ Invokefop.java:39: cannot find symbol symbol : variable Driver location: class Invokefop driver.setRenderer(Driver.RENDER_PDF); ^ 6 errors I am relatively new to Java, but with this approach I try to execute the fop engine in c++ using this java class.. Have anybody some Idea, how to solve this errors... Thanx in advance..

  • Scaling an image using the mouse in C#

    - by Gaax
    Hey guys... I'm trying to use the position of the mouse to calculate the scaling factor for scaling an image. Basically, the further you get away from the center of the image, the bigger it gets; and the closer to the center you get, the smaller it gets. I have some code so far but it's acting really strange and I have absolutely no more ideas. First I'll let you know, one thing I was trying to do is average out 5 distances to get a more smooth resize animation. Here's my code: private void pictureBoxScale_MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (rotateScaleMode && isDraggingToScale) { // For Scaling int sourceWidth = pictureBox1.Image.Width; int sourceHeight = pictureBox1.Image.Height; float dCurrCent = 0; // distance between the current mouse pos and the center of the image float dPrevCent = 0; // distance between the previous mouse pos and the center of the image System.Drawing.Point imgCenter = new System.Drawing.Point(); imgCenter.X = pictureBox1.Location.X + (sourceWidth / 2); imgCenter.Y = pictureBox1.Location.Y + (sourceHeight / 2); // Calculating the distance between the current mouse location and the center of the image dCurrCent = (float)Math.Sqrt(Math.Pow(e.X - imgCenter.X, 2) + Math.Pow(e.Y - imgCenter.Y, 2)); // Calculating the distance between the previous mouse location and the center of the image dPrevCent = (float)Math.Sqrt(Math.Pow(prevMouseLoc.X - imgCenter.X, 2) + Math.Pow(prevMouseLoc.Y - imgCenter.Y, 2)); if (smoothScaleCount < 5) { dCurrCentSmooth[smoothScaleCount] = dCurrCent; dPrevCentSmooth[smoothScaleCount] = dPrevCent; } if (smoothScaleCount == 4) { float currCentSum = 0; float prevCentSum = 0; for (int i = 0; i < 4; i++) { currCentSum += dCurrCentSmooth[i]; } for (int i = 0; i < 4; i++) { prevCentSum += dPrevCentSmooth[i]; } float scaleAvg = (currCentSum / 5) / (prevCentSum / 5); int destWidth = (int)(sourceWidth * scaleAvg); int destHeight = (int)(sourceHeight * scaleAvg); // If statement is for limiting the size of the image if (destWidth > (currentRotatedImage.Width / 2) && destWidth < (currentRotatedImage.Width * 3) && destHeight > (currentRotatedImage.Height / 2) && destWidth < (currentRotatedImage.Width * 3)) { AForge.Imaging.Filters.ResizeBilinear resizeFilter = new AForge.Imaging.Filters.ResizeBilinear(destWidth, destHeight); pictureBox1.Image = resizeFilter.Apply((Bitmap)currentRotatedImage); pictureBox1.Size = pictureBox1.Image.Size; pictureBox1.Refresh(); } smoothScaleCount = -1; } prevMouseLoc = e.Location; currentScaledImage = pictureBox1.Image; smoothScaleCount++; } }

  • Scaling an image using the mouse in a WinForms application?

  • Advice on Factory Method

    - by heath
Using php 5.2, I'm trying to use a factory to return a service to the controller. My request uri would be of the format www.mydomain.com/service/method/param1/param2/etc. My controller would then call a service factory using the token sent in the uri. From what I've seen, there are two main routes I could go with my factory. Single method: class ServiceFactory { public static function getInstance($token) { switch($token) { case 'location': return new StaticPageTemplateService('location'); break; case 'product': return new DynamicPageTemplateService('product'); break; case 'user' return new UserService(); break; default: return new StaticPageTemplateService($token); } } } or multiple methods: class ServiceFactory { public static function getLocationService() { return new StaticPageTemplateService('location'); } public static function getProductService() { return new DynamicPageTemplateService('product'); } public static function getUserService() { return new UserService(); } public static function getDefaultService($token) { return new StaticPageTemplateService($token); } } So, given this, I will have a handful of generic services in which I will pass that token (for example, StaticPageTemplateService and DynamicPageTemplateService) that will probably implement another factory method just like this to grab templates, domain objects, etc. And some that will be specific services (for example, UserService) which will be 1:1 to that token and not reused. So, this seems to be an ok approach (please give suggestions if it is not) for a small amount of services. But what about when, over time and my site grows, I end up with 100s of possibilities. This no longer seems like a good approach. Am I just way off to begin with or is there another design pattern that would be a better fit? Thanks. UPDATE: @JSprang - the token is actually sent in the uri like mydomain.com/location would want a service specific to loction and mydomain.com/news would want a service specific to news. Now, for a lot of these, the service will be generic. For instance, a lot of pages will call a StaticTemplatePageService in which the token is passed in to the service. That service in turn will grab the "location" template or "links" template and just spit it back out. Some will need DynamicTemplatePageService in which the token gets passed in, like "news" and that service will grab a NewsDomainObject, determine how to present it and spit that back out. Others, like "user" will be specific to a UserService in which it will have methods like Login, Logout, etc. So basically, the token will be used to determine which service is needed AND if it is generic service, that token will be passed to that service. Maybe token isn't the correct terminology but I hope you get the purpose. I wanted to use the factory so I can easily swap out which Service I need in case my needs change. I just worry that after the site grows larger (both pages and functionality) that the factory will become rather bloated. But I'm starting to feel like I just can't get away from storing the mappings in an array (like Stephen's solution). That just doesn't feel OOP to me and I was hoping to find something more elegant.

  • Facebook Registration Plugin redirects in wrong situation

    - by AVProgrammer
I am using the PHP Facebook SDK to leverage the Facebook registration/login plugin. I am referring to: http://www.masteringapi.com/tutorials/how-to-use-facebook-registration-plugin-as-your-registration-system/15/ Currently, the browser redirects away from the registration page, no matter if I am signed in to Facebook or not. <div id="fb-root"></div> <script> window.fbAsyncInit = function() { FB.init({ appId: '<?php echo $facebook->getAppID() ?>', cookie: true, xfbml: true, oauth: true }); FB.Event.subscribe('auth.login', function(response) { window.location.reload(); }); FB.Event.subscribe('auth.logout', function(response) { window.location.reload(); }); <?php if($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] == '/register/index.php'){?> FB.getLoginStatus(function(response) { if (response.status == "connected" || response.status == "unknown") { window.location = "http://<?=SITE_HOST?>/"; } }); <?php }?> }; (function() { var e = document.createElement('script'); e.async = true; e.src = document.location.protocol + '//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js'; document.getElementById('fb-root').appendChild(e); }()); The part that is causing this unwanted redirect is this: <?php if($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] == '/register/index.php'){?> FB.getLoginStatus(function(response) { if (response.status == "connected" || response.status == "unknown") { window.location = "http://<?=SITE_HOST?>/"; } }); <?php }?> This function is supposed to redirect a "connected"1 user, away from the registration page. Unfortunately, even when I access this page from a brand-new browser (Firefox, just installed, which means no cookies or sessions exist) and I am still redirected. Note the PHP code below[2]. Also, the SITE_HOST is a constant for the www. address. I think the actual condition that is being met is response.status being equal to "unknown". This status check implies an unsuccessful response from Facebook, right? Without this getLoginStatus check in the code, it will actually load the the registration page, and a Facebook registration form: Note how it says: "You have registered", which I did a month ago (assuming this qualification is met by allowing the Facebook App permissions, which was done when I initially installed the Facebook SDK). So why would the redirect code work for me (seemingly), then still redirect me when I am using a browser NOT signed in to Facebook? Also, the jQuery function at the bottom of the script loads all.js. This is all I need, right? Footnotes: Someone with "connected" status is logged in to Facebook and has approved your Facebook App permissions. No matter which page this was on it caused this, and since this code appears in a global include file, I've restricting from printing to only on the registration page, which was the intention for this code to my understanding.
