• Do AdWords conversions only track AdWords visitors?

  I have set up an AdWords conversion and put the conversion tracking JS code on a test page. However, I don't see any conversions tracked when I visit it. Does the AdWords conversion tracking only register your conversion if you come to the site by clicking on an AdWords campaign? Google's help page advises me to test the code by clicking a campaign. However, I would like to use the tracking to track all conversions, not just AdWords. I considered using Analytics as well, but it seems you can only track via url there, not JS, which would mean I had to restructure a part of my page. (Because currently a conversion appears does not necessarily happen on a different URL.) Is AdWords tracking not a viable solution to track all visitor conversions on my site?

  The Dell PowerEdge 11 th Generation Servers: R810, R910 and M910 Memory Guidance whitepaper seems to have caused some confusion. I believe the source is an error in the paper. In the section on FlexMem Bridge Technology, the Dell whitepaper says this applies to the R810 and the M910. The Dell M910 is a 4-way blade server for the Xeon 7500 series processor line. • How does the GPL work in regards to languages like Dart which compile to other languages?

  Google's Dart language is not supported by any Web Browsers other than a special build of Chromium known as Dartium. To use Dart for production code you need to run it through a Dart-JavaScript compiler/translator and then use the outputted JavaScript in your web application. Because JavaScript is an interpreted language everyone who receives the "binary"(Aka, the .js file) has also received the source code. Now, the GNU General Public License v3.0 states that: "The “source code” for a work means the preferred form of the work for making modifications to it." Which would imply that the original Dart code in addition to the JavaScript code must also be provided to the end user. Does this mean that any web applications written in Dart must also provide the original Dart code to all visitors of their website even though a copy of the source code has already been provided in a human readable/writable/modifiable form?

  My friend and i are developing a android game. This is my first time develop android game, so we don't know how to code The game is 2d game and we develop it without 3rd party engine / framework. Now we got a few questions, hope you can help us. In game play, using 'Surfaceview' only to achieve it. Is it best practice? On 'Surfaceview', a lot of difference button(Menu, pause, game object..etc) is on it, but I don't know how to code it? (actually, i have already done, but...so stupid way. Detect the user touch position (x, y) to identify where they touch[rect(x1,y1,x2,y2).contain(x,y)] Is it right? Teach me how to do if wrong. View / Surfaceview / OpenGL, which is suitable for us? • How to use MythBuntu to send TV signal to a 2nd frontend

  I guess the a MythTV or MythBuntu backend acts as a "server" for the frontends. I have MythBuntu installed. It runs fine, I can tune live TV, hear the sound, etc. To get this to work, I had to config the Wired Network IP4V settings to Method: Link-Local Only. The Local Backend IP address is: 127.0.0.1 and the info (bottom of screen) says that if there is another frontend, that this IP add. must be changed. 1 - Does this mean changed to the IP address of the 2nd frontend? 2 - What "Method" do I use to make 2 or more frontends? 3 - I have an ethernet switch which currently "sees" the tv signal, sends it to the computer's ethernet port where Mythbuntu makes use of it. 4 - How do I set up the Myth to send it's output (the tv shows) to both televisions? If you know of a How-To, or website, please give the URL or identifying keywords.

• Is it possible to install ZSNES Emulator from default software sources?

  I can find it listed when I search for "zsnes" in the Ubuntu Software Center but it doesn't have the "Install" button. If I click the "More information" button I'll get a "package not found" message. Synaptic can't find this package either. (from user @REJ) I have Natty 64bit. When I run sudo apt-get install zsnes it gives the following output: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package zsnes is not available, but is referred to by another package. • Why doesn't the command do-release-upgrade doesn't require sudo?

  I was wondering why the command do-release-upgrade doesn't require sudo? I mean, it does significantly change your system, so I would have guessed it requires sudo. This is from ubuntu self, but it isn't that helpful. I just want to know how this is secure for the integrity for my system, if every user can access this command. Thanks in advance. [EDIT]: I used a new terminal window, thus no sudo that wasn't expired yet, and I used the command do-release-upgrade NOT sudo do-release-upgrade.So even with unexpired sudo I should be unable to upgrade.   For modern software developers in today's world, is there such a thing as having too much experience with a certain technology or programming language? To a recruiter, interviewer, or company hiring-- could there often be cases where a particular candidate has so much experience in a certain area or technology where it works against the candidate to being hired? I'm not talking about cases where a senior developer is applying for an entry-level developer position, and has a lot of experience in that sense. Nor am I talking about cases where a candidate is outright lying (e.g. 20+ years experience with Ruby on Rails). I've overheard this in conversations between hiring managers/developers during happy hours, yet I'm not quite sure I fully understand what they mean.

• What is Atomicity?

  I'm really struggling to find a concrete, easy to grasp, explanation of Atomicity. My understanding thus far is that to ensure an operation is atomic you wrap the critical code in a locker. But that's about as much as I actually understand. Definitions such as the one below make no sense to me at all. An operation during which a processor can simultaneously read a location and write it in the same bus operation. This prevents any other processor or I/O device from writing or reading memory until the operation is complete. Atomic implies indivisibility and irreducibility, so an atomic operation must be performed entirely or not performed at all. What does the last sentence mean? Is the term indivisibility relating to mathematics or something else? Sometimes the jargon with these topics confuse more than they teach.

• Checking for cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in Perl web applications

  I'm putting together some notes for a dev team on how to write secure Perl code - especially taking into account the current OWASP top 10 web application vulnerabilities. For cross-site scripting I've included information on ensuring that all output to the browser is checked and escaped where necessary, but I'm looking for more automated mechanisms that would mean a developer doesn't have to think about every output statement and, potentially, miss one. Perl's 'taint' function sounds like it should be a help because it distrusts all user input, but it doesn't complain on tainted data being output to the browser. Apart from checking all output statements individually (probably by calling a generic sanitizing function) does anyone have any ideas on how Perl can help with this with existing libraries or techniques?

• Artifacts when using SamplerState.LinearClamp in SpriteBatch

  I'm using XNA 4.0 and VS2010 Express for Windows Phone and Windows Phone SDK 7.1. This is a platform game and I have a map made up of 16x16 textures that is drawn dynamically, tile by tile. When using SpriteBatch to draw my map with LinearClamp, I get artifacts that looks like blurry thin lines. They become visible when the camera moves from one pixel to another and when the camera is still, the artifacts disappear. Here's a small sample of what I mean: Here's how I draw with the spritebatch: SBWorld.Begin(SpriteSortMode.Deferred, BlendState.NonPremultiplied, SamplerState.LinearClamp, DepthStencilState.Default, RasterizerState.CullNone, null, camera.View); When using SamplerState.PointClamp the game just plays horribly (IMHO), so I cannot use that. Why do these lines appear and how do I get rid of those?

  I have a website which references places to travel to in the world. Those places are (of course) grouped by countries. Here is an example of an actual URL of my website: http://awespot.org/country/105/iceland I am wondering if it would be better, in terms of SEO, to have the countries separated in subdomains: http://iceland.awespot.org/ I know subdomains are considered by Google as different websites, so I am considering the 2 options: separating would mean also separating the pagerank and benefits of links to the website but separating would enable me to create a "web" or related websites (all related to travel and all) that link and benefit to each other I am only asking about SEO here, I know there are other questions raised by this possibility (user experience, administration... even password completion by web browsers)

  Are you aware of, or have you devised, any practical, simple-to-learn "in-head" algorithms that let humans generate (somewhat "true") random numbers? By "in-head" I mean.. preferrably without any external tools or devices. Also, a high output (many random numbers per minute) is desirable. Asked this on SO but it didn't get much interest. Maybe this is better suited for programmers.. :) I'm genuinely curious about anything that people might have come up with on this problem.

• Size limit while using UICollectionView as tiled map for iOS game?

  I'm working on a turn-based strategy game for iOS, (picture Civilization 2 as a template example), and I'm considering using a UICollectionView as my game map. Each cell would be a tile, and I could use the "didSelectCell" method to handle player interaction with each tile. Here's my question: I know that UICollectionViewCells are dequeued and reused by the OS, so does that mean that the map could support an effectively infinitely-large map, so long as only a few cells are onscreen at a time? However many cells were onscreen would be held in memory, and obviously the data source would take up some memory, but would my offscreen map be limited to a certain size or could it be enormous so long as the number of cells visible at any one time wasn't too much for the device to handle? Basically, is there any memory weight to offscreen cells, or do only visible cells have any impact? Also, does a UICollectionView seem like a bad idea for a game map, in a way I haven't thought of yet? It seems like it work well, but I haven't tried it yet so any thoughts are welcome.

We are not talking of implementation strategies or insights here to fructify the startup -- just great ideas which can change things for the better. Not your source code optimization. • Rendering performance in FlasCC + UDK when compared to Stage3d and UDK on Windows?

  Adobe recently released the Flash C++ Compiler, which UDK uses to target Flash Player. Developers can now access UDK for browser applications. Does this mean greater performance than using a Stage3D engine (Away3D 4) and how much of a noticeable difference in performance would it make in rendering speeds? Is there any benchmark you could propose that would allow to compare them fairly? I am asking this to help myself understand the consequences in performance for deciding to use UDK in a browser based game. I would also like to know how it compares with UDK running natively in Windows? I am not asking which technology to use or which is better. Only interested in optimizing rendering speed in a 3d browser game with flash.
