  • I need some ideas on my algortihm for a Hit Counter

    My algorithm is for a hit count, I am tring to not count for the same person twice if that person came to the site twice in a time internval (For example if he comes twice in 5 minutes, I want to count it as 1 for this person) Here how my database looks like UserIp UserId Date of user came 127.0.0.1 new.user.akb 26.03.2010 10:15:44 127.0.0.1 new.user.akb 26.03.2010 10:16:44 127.0.0.1 new.user.akb 26.03.2010 10:17:44 127.0.0.1 new.user.akb 26.03.2010 10:18:44 127.0.0.1 new.user.akb 26.03.2010 10:19:44 127.0.0.1 new.user.akb 26.03.2010 10:20:44 127.0.0.1 new.user.akb 26.03.2010 10:21:44 127.0.0.1 new.user.akb 26.03.2010 10:22:44 127.0.0.1 new.user.akb 26.03.2010 10:23:44 What I need to do is get number of distinct UserIPs from the table above that occured within a time interval. For example if I set the time interval for 5 minutes, and let say that is starts at 26.03.2010 10:15:44 Then I will get 2 as the results, since 1 distinct value between 10:15 to 10:20 and , 1 distinct value from 10:20 to 10:23, For example if my interval is 3 minutes than the return result will be 3 Thanks.

I want to check if the enemy has the class of either smallEnemy, medEnemy, or lrgEnemy and then do the collision check which is what I thought I had but it doesn't seem to work. Also, the game starts to lag the more and more time goes on. Would anyone know the reason for that?

    I have a small problem and I don't think what I want to do can be achieved with just pure CSS, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Basically, I have one DIV which contains a hyperlinked element that is smaller in size to it's parent DIV. So in effect I have a square within a square with the inner square being the "hit area". When I mouse over this inner square I want the background of the outer square to change. I know it's not possible to change the parent DIV's background on a:hover, but I figured I could give the illusion of it happening by nesting a hidden image inside the anchor. This works great until I want to "roll off". The problem is that I want the image to disappear when I leave the area of the anchor tag, not the larger hidden image. Is this possible?     I have a multithreaded c++ application that runs on Windows, Mac and a few Linux flavours. To make a long story short: Inorder for it to run at maximum efficiency I have to be able to instantiate a single thread per physical processor/core. Creating more threads than there are physical processors/cores degrades the performance of my program considerably. I can already correctly detect the number of logical processors/cores correctly on all three of these platforms. To be able to detect the number of physical processors/cores correctly I'll have to detect if hyper-treading is supported AND active. My question therefore is if there is a way to detect whether hyperthreading is supported AND ENABLED? If so, how exactly.

Or for "Esto es una sentencia" it should detect the language as "Spanish". I understand that language detection from text is not a deterministic problem. But both Google Translate and Bing Translator have an "Auto detect" option, which best-guesses the input language. Is there something similar available publicly, preferably in C#?

    My question is about targeting a child with a unique parent. For example. Let's say I have a box people can move called box_mc and 3 platforms it can jump on called: Platform_1 Platform_2 Platform_3 All of these platforms have a child element called hit. Platform_1 Hit Platform_2 Hit Platform_3 Hit I use an array and a for each statement to detect if box_mc hits one of the platforms childs. var obj_arr:Array = [Platform_1, Platform_2, Platform_3]; for each(obj in obj_arr){ if(box_mc.hitTestObject(obj.hit)){ trace(obj + " " + obj.hit); box_mc.y = obj.hit.y - box_mc.height; } } obj seems to output the unique parent it is hitting but obj.hit ouputs hit, so my theory is that it is applying the change of y to all the childs called hit in the stage. Would it be possible to only detect the child of that specific parent?

I've already figured out a way to detect when focus is switched between applications using WH_SHELL and HSHELL_ACTIVATESHELLWINDOW. The problem is I want to detect when focus is switched between dialog/windows within the same app. ie. In Notepad, I can determine when the app switches to Notepad, but I cannot detect when the "Open" or "Save" dialogs appear because the focus is still within the same application.

  • Debian 5.0.8 won't detect my ethernet adapter

    I'm installing Debian 5.0.8 on a Dell Latitude E6410 using the network install x86 CD. Unfortunately, it won't detect my Ethernet adapter. Specifically, I get the error: No Ethernet card was detected. If you know the name of the driver needed by your Ethernet card, you can select it from the list. lspci shows: 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Device 10ea (rev 05) That should correspond to the e100e driver. But, if I select it from the list, the install CD still fails to detect it. Ubuntu 10.10 and Windows 7 are able to use this device with no problem. Does anybody know what I can do to make Debian use my Ethernet adapter? Thanks, PaulH

    There are many plain text files which were encoded in variant charsets. I want to convert them all to UTF-8, but before running iconv, I need to know its original encoding. Most browsers have an Auto Detect option in encodings, however, I can't check those text files one by one because there are too many. Only having known the original encoding, I then can convert the texts by iconv -f DETECTED_CHARSET -t utf-8. Is there any utility to detect the encoding of plain text files? It doesn't have to be a 100% perfect correct, but it should recognize most of them.

    when we bind to heterogeneous collection of objects, not all objects have the same set of properties. in the output window we get a message like: System.Windows.Data Error: 39 : BindingExpression path error: 'RoundingFactor' property not found on 'object' ''MultiLineTextMarkingScheme' (HashCode=7262386)'. BindingExpression:Path=RoundingFactor;.......... This doesn't appear to be an exception, but we are concerned it has a performance impact. Should we be concerned and create a view model that has all the properties we wish to bind to (and have the properties that dont exist on the underlying element return null) or can we just leave it. This situation often occurs in a grid scenario where there might be large numbers of these binding failures.

  • Fedora-13 not detecting USB HDD enclosure (with HDD)

    I recently purchased this enclosure: http://www.amazon.com/Inland-2-5-Inc.../dp/B003SZ2Y12 and this HDD: http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Barrac...3811667&sr=8-1 Now, I let my brother in law use the enclosure with his 160GB disk to back some stuff up. He then gave me that disk in my enclosure and I backed up my computer and my fiances computer. So...obviously, i had no problem mounting that disk. I plan on keeping this disk as my "natural disaster backup" (in case my apartment building burns down, i still have that disk with my stuff backed up). I want to use the 1.5T disk as my regular/more frequent backup device, but it doesn't seem to be mounting to my F-13 machine. I searched through this forum and found someone advising to run the following: # mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt this is the output i get when I run that: mount: /dev/sda1 already mounted or /mnt busy mount: according to mtab, /dev/sda1 is mounted on /boot Thing is, shouldn't this disk automatically mount just like the LAST disk in the same enclosure with the same USB cable and power supply? Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

    I have a problem where cdb or windbg hangs frequently, but not all the time, when I'm debugging with it and I attach to a specific application on my machine. I found this article: http://www.nynaeve.net/?p=164 which talks about a symbol loading race condition being the problem, but I can force load the symbols, actually have a breakpoint in-app work, and still have it hang elsewhere. Here is the stack from cdb itself when I attach to it with another debugger: ntdll!NtReadFile kernel32!ReadFile cdb!ReadNonConLine cdb!ConIn cdb!MainLoop cdb!main !analyze reports that APPLICATION_HANG_BusyHang is the problem bucket, and 'ReadNonConLine' is the offending function. as far as the stack goes: ffffffff`fffffffe 00000000`00000000 00000001`3f641498 00000000`0014ea50 : kernel32!ReadFile+0x86 00000000`000002a4 00000000`0014ebb0 00000000`00001000 00000000`00000000 : cdb!ReadNonConLine+0x6d ReadNonConLine has the string "g" at 0014ebb0 passed as a param, which may be part of the command I had at the hanging breakpoint (it was something like bp foo "dt a; g") ReadFile takes a handle as its first parameter. I'm surprised by the value -2, though, that doesn't look valid. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Aaron
