  • python and paramiko: how to check if end of ssh tunnel is still alive and reestablish if not?

    Hello all, I'm trying to achieve the following: I have two hosts A and B. A establishes a remote port forwarding tunnel on B, i.e. B is the one a port is forwarded on to some where else and A is the one that sets up the tunnel. I tried the script rforward.py that ships with paramiko and it works very well so far. (I'm running rforward.py on A, which connects to B and forwards a port of B to somewhere else) However, when B is shutting down, A doesn't seem to recognize it. I'd rather like A to recognize that B is down and to try to reestablish the connection periodically in case B comes up again. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

  • How can I check that the NSPasteboard is updated?

    I'm automating a copy command to place some text on the pasteboard every second or so - unfortunately this is my only way of accessing the text, which is in another application. After copying, I access the pasteboard text and process it. Sometimes, the copy command will be sent when nothing is selected - for example in textEdit, if the cursor is at the end of a line (instead of highlighting some text) and you hit copy, you get a system beep because there is nothing selected to copy. The pasteboard does not update and retains its previous data. I can't think of a creative way to identify when this happens. If I send a copy command and the pasteboard doesn't update, is there any kind of time stamp on the pasteboard I can access that will confirm that something has or hasn't been captured? I was looking at the changeCount, but I'm not sure what that is for exactly, and the documentation didn't help me much - red herring? Any simple and effective ideas gratefully received!

  • Rspec Selenium. Test to check certain Ajax functions passes when i expect it to fail.

    I am testing a Ajax action using Rspec and Selenium. My story is as follows: it "should create a new User with any input" do @browser.open "/people" @browser.wait_for_page_to_load "2000" @browser.type "user_name", "Alok Swain" @browser.click "user_submit" @browser.text?("Alok Swain").should be_true end The action i am testing is: def add_user @users = User.all User.create(params[:user]) render :update do |page| page.alert "Created User" page.replace_html "users", :partial => '/people/users_list', :locals => {:users => @users} end end The test fails and the error I get is: 'User should create a new User with any input' FAILED expected false to be true. This test should pass right ? I also kept an alert and tried @browser.is_alert_present.should be_true but i got the same error. I tried @browser.is_text_present("test") and this test succeeded. In the test database a record was created for Alok Swain but when I tried the above assertion it passed when i expected it to fail. Is there any thing else to be done here. What am I missing ?

    I have this method which takes a block, but that block isn't always called. See the method: - (void)updateWithCompletion:(void (^)(void))completion { [MYObject myMethodWithCompletion:^(NSArray *array, NSError *error) { if (error) { NSLog(@"%s, ERROR not nil", __FUNCTION__); completion(); return; } NSLog(@"%s, calling completion %d", __FUNCTION__, &completion); completion(); NSLog(@"%s, finished completion", __FUNCTION__); }]; } I have some more NSLogs inside completion. Sometimes this program counter just blows right past the call to completion() in the code above. I don't see why this would be as the calling code always passes a literal block of code as input. If you're curious of the output of the line containing the addressof operator, it's always something different, but never 0 or nil. What would cause completion not to be executed?

    Pretty much everyone that writes about the UISplitView on the iPad uses the following code structure to dismiss a popover: if (popoverController != nil) { [popoverController dismissPopoverAnimated:YES]; } I though Objective-C was happy to ignore messages that are passed to nil?     I don't want to force people into using a specific IDE for development, so our projects look basically like this: SomeProject src lib build.xml No IDE specific files whatsoever. However, many people prefer Eclipse and it is their valid complain that it is annoyingly difficult to set up an Eclipse project from an Ant build file if that project is checked into a VCS. That's a very old bug, so I don't really expect it to be fixed soon. I don't want all those weird Eclipse project files in the project root, but if it was the only way, I would accept having the eclipse project files in a subdirectory "eclipse". I thought Eclipse's linked resources were capable of just that, but I was wrong, it doesn't really work. How do you solve this problem? Are you checking in the .settings directory. etc. into your project's root?

  • Grabbing rows from MySql where current date is in between start date and end date (Check if current date lies between start date and end date)

    I'm trying to select from the database to get the "campaigns" that dates fall into the month. So far i've been successful in grabbing rows that starts or ends inside the current month. What I need to do now is select rows that start in one month and ends a few months down the line ( EG: It's the 3rd month in the year, and there's a "campaign" that runs from the 1st month until the 5th. other example There is a "campaign" that runs from 2012 until 2013 ) I'm hoping there is some way to select via MySql all rows in which a capaign may run. If not should I grab all data in the database and only show the ones that run via the current month. I have already made a function that displays all the days inbetween each date inside an array, which is called "dateRange". I've also created another which shows how many days the campaign runs for called "runTime".     Hey all, I have written a code in C# - XML which checks whether a value is there or not in a given XML document and prints the value and the particular tag associated with the value. When we enter the Value of the Inner Text it will look for the value in the document and find it. I dont understand what exception to catch when the entered value is not there in the document. I tried doing like this but it is not working. 1. if (inpXMLString != AppChildNode.InnerText) throw new InvalidDataException("The entered value" + " " + inpXMLString + " " + "doesnot exist"); Here : inpXMLstring = entered value; AppChildNode.InnerText = value of the tags searched. 2. catch (System.Xml.XmlException e1) { Console.WriteLine(e1.Message); } this does not give any exception when the entered value is not there in the XML document. Please help me in this regard.

  • Would you use a UITableViewController to implement a check list on the iPhone?

    I am creating an application that will have a list of items that can be checked. I just implemented it as a Table View by subclassing UITableViewController. Now I am realizing that since individual items don't have a child view (i.e. clicking on an item "Dinner" does not need to pull up a child list of "Dinner Items") then maybe I should have just created a custom view for the list. In your experience, would it be better to use the Table View or create something custom? thanks! p.s. I am a bit new to iPhone dev, but NOT new to C

    I have an MS Access program in use in multiple locations. It connects to MS SQL Server tables, but the server name is different in each location. I am looking for the fastest way to test for the existence of a server. The code takes about one second if the server is available and takes about 8 seconds for each server that is unavailable. I'd like to get both of these lower, if possible, but especially the fail case as this one happens most often.

The program has 3 buttons: 1) for folder browsing, 2) scan for the selected folder content, and 3) open the file.     I'm clearing IE's cache programmatically using DeleteUrlCacheEntry() and I would like to verify that I did it correctly. Should I expect the Temporary Internet Files folder to be empty after clearing the cache? (it isn't) If not then what is the simplest way to determine whether the browser is using its cache when accessing a site?
