  HI, I follow your istruction and everythig works. I have an DHCP server than it assign "Ip client" without gateway. Internet with IE or Firefox Browser works but FTP service doesn't work. In squid.conf I have put a line: acl Safe_ports port 80 21 443 389 5307 8080 3144 8282 88 8443 20443 11438 1443 8050 30021 10443 4747 4774 1384 Have I to put gateway in DHCP Server? • Virtualbox fullscreen mode problem

  hi all I have a slightly weird issue with virtualbox. My host OS is Win7 (64-bit) and guest OS is Ubuntu 10.10(64-bit). When I switch to fullscreen mode in virtualbox, ubuntu display resizes to fit my screen size. however, after that the display is not updated. So if i click a menu or something I don't see it appear. but it seems to work in the background. if i click a menu in fullscreen mode, i don't see anything happen, but if then switch to windowed mode I see the menu already open. I have installed virtuabox guest additions. if any has a similar issue or has found a solution please let me know thanks.

• Strange network connectivity problem

  Here is my network connectivity: cable modem | |(WAN) wrt54g (default gateway, 192.168.1.1) -- earth |(LAN) | Simple Switch1 | | | | | SimpleSwitch2- neptune | | | | mars mercury | |- venus | |- laptop | saturn (Windows AD DC) simpleSwitch2 was hanging off the wrt54g. I moved it to SW1 during troubleshooting. Nothing described below was any different. earth is connected via wireless to the wrt54g. I can ping from laptop to mars, neptune & mercury. I can ping from earth to venus, saturn & laptop. However, pinging mars, mercury or neptune from earth gives the following result. Pinging mars.XXX.XXX [192.168.1.105] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Windows firewall is off. saturn is my DNS & DHCP server. Can anyone give me any ideas what the h*ll is going on? Clearly the topology is a factor And yes, I am a space geek.

• VMWare tools on Ubuntu Server 10.10 kernel source problem

  After install and running the vm-ware config, the config needs my kernel headers to compile some modules, ok, so I'll give it them, but it just won't work. It asks for the path of the directory of C header files that match my running kernel. If I uname -r I get 2.6.35-22-generic-pae So I tell it the source path is /lib/modules/2.6.25-22-generic-pae/build/include and it returns "The directory of kernel headers (version @@VMWARE@@ UTS_RELEASE) does not match your running kernel (version 2.6.35-22-generic-pae). ..I'm confused? can anyone offer suggestions please? I installed hte kernel source andh eaders myself using sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)

• Problem with default File opening programs

  Working on Vista & Window 7, I use Winamp 5.57 for listening to mp3 and VLC player for watching movies. I made those two as my default players for corresponding media respectively. But when I launch winamp for playing mp3, some of the video files( like .flv, etc.,) automatically get changed the file opening mode to winamp player. This happens every time even if I set it back to 'default program'. Can someone please help me out.

  I am running Visual SVN Server(with Apache) on a Windows 7 computer and network. After about 15-20 minutes of my first commit/update, I am unable to access the repository via Tortoise SVN. The error message I get is: OPTIONS of "https://jason/svn/repository1": could not connect to server (https://jason) Restarting the Visual SVN Server service helps sometimes but fails quite often. The only sure-shot way to get it working is to restart the computer. The server - https://jason is also not accessible via the browser when I get this error 1) I tried reinstalling Windows 7, Visual SVN server and Tortoise SVN but I still keep getting this error. 2) I searched several forums but I dont seem to be able to find an answer. Please help.

• Cisco 2911 - problem with DHCP

  Hi, i am configuring DHCP daemon on Cisco 2911. At some point i assigned address 192.168.50.50 to one box (using MAC address 'relation'). When I wanted to saved config - I got warning, that address 192.168.50.50 is already in Pool, which sounds bit weird - it was first host which I started configuring. I tried with following commands: clear ip dhcp server statistics clear ip dhcp conflict but first one doesn't output anything (and show statistics shows that there are 2 addresses in pool), and second one throws "there is no conflicted ips" message. How I can force/purge/clear/allow to bind 192.168.50.50 to this box?

  My Windows CE Netbook connects to wireless network at work but can't connect at home. I tried it at work just to test that the WiFi on the Netbook does actually work and it was fine (if a bit slow) It can see the connection, and the signal, tries to "Associate" with my home network but "Fails" it will sometimes retry Encryption is set to TKIP Authentication WPA-PSK EAP Type TLS I have tried all sorts of other settings but there seems to be very little to try??   I installed NTFS 3G but now get the following error message when I try to plug in my external drive. I also get it on startup about my Windows partition. Uninstall/ reinstall does not work. NTFS-3G could not mount /dev/disk1s1at /volumes/freeagent GoFlex Drive because the following error occured: /library/filesystems/fuse.fs/support/fusefs.kext failed to load- (libkern/kext) link error; check the system/ kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8). The MacFUSE file system is not available (71) Any help would be great. I'd hope to avoid reinstalling OS X if possible!

• Firefox 3.6 - Navigation Toolbar - Google search box language problem

  Using Win7 Home Prem with Firefox 3.6 I like using the google search box in the Navigation Toolbar because it's quicker to do a search but as i am English and i am in Thailand it seems to do the search within www.google.co.th by default and so nearly everything on the google search page that comes up is in the Thai language (which is lots of weird squiggles). Is there any way to default the search to google.co.uk or google.com ?? and hence be in English. I can't see anything obvious to change the default search or language??

  I have one rule that opens FTP port for all connections. I have second rule that blocks ALL connections on ALL protocols for some IP's. However, connections from those IP's that are blocked can still connect to FTP port because that rule obviously takes preccedence. How can I make this work, because I do not see how can I adjust order of rules on Windows Firewall.

  I set up a test domain for my LDAP SSL tests and it is not working. I am using Windows Server 2008 R2 SP 1. I came so far: 1. i generated and installed my self signed certificate on the test domain controller 2. on the server i can log into ldap over SSL with the MS ldp.exe tool. 3. using ldp.exe on a client that is no in this domain the login fails with error 0x51 = "failed to connect". (i don't have a client computer that is in this domain right now) 4. I testet the certificate by using it in the IIS on the test server and I can reach the default page of the test server over SSL. (from the client that is not in the domain) 5. analysing the traffic between client and server I can see that the server is sending a certificate to the client. why isn't this working on my client computer?

• Problem mirroring two monitors with different resolution

  Hello I am trying to put two monitors in mirror mode (Windows 7 Professional) with Ultramon 3.1.0. The two monitors: Main monitor: 24" Asus. 1680x1050 resolution (16/10). Secondary monitor: 19" LG. 1280x1024 resolution. The graphic card is a Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT. I have installed the Ultramon 3.1.0 and I have created a mirror, with the "stretch mirror image to fill monitor" and the "disable video overlays and 3D acceleration". When I start the mirroring, there are two zones in the lateral edges that are not displayed in the second monitor. I think this is because the width of the main monitor is 1680 px. and the width of the secondary monitor is 1280 px., but I have indicated "stretch mirror image to fill monitor" in the options. The same occurs in the top and the bottom edges, but the diference is minimal (1050 vs 1024 pixels). I want the same image (distortioned in the secondary monitor if is neccesary), but I don't know what is failing. Someone can help me, please? I have read Mirrored monitors of different resolution.   Dear Sirs, I'm trying to run a java process via Powershell in Windows XP. Here's the command: java.exe -cp .;./common.jar -Dcontext=atest1 -Dresourcepath=. DW_Install So, the classpath is . and .\common.jar (I think java takes the wrong slashes, right?) There are two environment variables, one "atest1" the other "." and the class to execute main on is DW_Install (in the default package). This command works in cmd.exe, but doesn't is PS. • SQL Server 2008 login problem with ASP.NET application: Failed to open the explicitly specified database

  I am running SQL Server 2008 Express Edition on Windows Server 2008 with an ASP.NET application which must access the server. The ASP.NET application is associated with an application pool that runs on the NetworkService account. This account in turn has a Login and User record on SQL Server in the required database. When I attempt to run the ASP.NET website I get a blank page and when viewed in the error log, I seem to be getting this information event record: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. Reason: Failed to open the explicitly specified database. [CLIENT: myLocalMachine] The connection string has Trusted_Connection=True; and the required database specified. When I explicitly specify the user name and password I get another login error stating the password is incorrect, even though the same un/pw combination works through SQL Server Management studio. The NETWORK SERVICE account seems to have all the required privileges for the database. Also, I made a test ASP.NET website project which does a simple select from a table in that database, and using the same config file I am not getting the error and it seems to work. Is it something to do with trust levels then, because the original ASP.NET web app references various DLLs including open source libraries. Also, the application does not seem to be able to write to the event log itself, throwing a security exception, even though everything in the config files, including machine.config states the app is in full trust.

  I have a five year old Sony Vaio laptop (vgn-fw31m) that has had impact damage to the audio-output mini-jack for about the last year or so. In a recent discussion with my brother, we wondered whether it would be possible to write a program that would enable windows to use the microphone mini-jack input as the audio-output? As I currently use this laptop for work I am not keen to risk pulling it apart in order to replace the components comprising the audio-out. I therefore 'hope' that a programming solution exists.
