• FreeBSD: problem with Postfix after updating LDAP

  At the server I installed openldap-server, at this computer open-ldap client has already been installed. Version of openldap-client (2.4.16) was older then new openldap-server (2.4.21) and the version of client has updated too. OpenLDAP-client works with postfix on this server and after all updates postfix cann't start again. The error when postfix stop|start is: /libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libldap-2.4.so.6" not found, required by "postfix" At the category with libraries is libldap-2.4.so.7, but libldap-2.4.so.6 is removed from the server. When I want to deinstall curently version of openldap-client, system write ===> Deinstalling for net/openldap24-client O.K., but when I start "make install" system write: ===> Installing for openldap-sasl-client-2.4.23 ===> openldap-sasl-client-2.4.23 depends on shared library: sasl2.2 - found ===> Generating temporary packing list ===> Checking if net/openldap24-client already installed ===> An older version of net/openldap24-client is already installed (openldap-client-2.4.21) You may wish to ``make deinstall'' and install this port again by ``make reinstall'' to upgrade it properly.   I have Windows XP OS. C: Drive has 7 Gb disk space out of that I can see only 4 GB are occopied. Currently only 265 MB are free space showing. I am not sure how to retrive remaining 3 GB space. Can any one have any idea.

• solving network connection problem on xp

  Hi there I feel so stupid, because I have to fix my dad computer(which was mine years ago). So it is an old computer on which I have installed windows xp and the drivers for main-board. The device manager says that I have no more problems with the hardware. That computer has to connect to a router from my room but it doesn't. On ping 192.168.2.1 I get "Request time out"., The other computers are connecting to that router. Only the old computer doesn't connect to the LAN and later to the internet. Also it doesn't get a good IP(from the same class). After running ipconfig command I know that i have an IP with 169.... What can I do? Do you have any tips for me?

• Problem creating ODBC connection to SQL Server 2008 with Vista

  Well, I'm trying to get a database schema thing working, first I tried just doing it in Linux where I'm more comfortable, but ODBC seems to be a hack there and I couldn't get it to work. So I figured it shouldn't be too hard in Windows.. Ok, so I created a SQL Server Client Alias so that I can simply same windowsserver to refer to my SQL server. Then, I went to the ODBC configuration in Control Panel. I clicked Add in the User DSN section. I chose Native SQL Server (10), and then clicked next. Then I typed a short name and a description and gave the servername as windowsserver/SQLEXPRESS Then, I click next, give it my user name and password and click next. Then, after like 2 minutes it says "Login Timeout Expired" What can be wrong here? I know the server is configured cause I have SQL Server Management Studio opened up with that server in it. I'm also just trying to connect over regular TCP/IP and my firewall is disabled.

• Access to CD/DVD Drive is Denied through Windows 7 Explorer (Permission Problem)

  A while ago I started having trouble with my optical drives. Both of them keep showing up in Explorer as CD/DVD drives on boot, but as soon as I put a disc in either one, it suddenly turns into a hard-drive—“local disk” is displayed in the Type column, though the File System column remains UDF/CDFS. (I though that maybe it was a permission issue on the registry key in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet..., but I’m not so certain because of the next test.) When I try to open a disc (of any type), I get an access denied error message. If I open an elevated command-prompt, I am able to access the files. Also, if I kill Explorer and run it from an elevated command-prompt (thus giving Explorer elevated permissions), then I can access the files from Explorer. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the devices without success. The security dialog indicates that there are none set for the drives (no owner and no permissions). I tried setting the owner, but am only able to do so if there is a disc in it (it complains if it is empty), but the settings do not stick (if I immediately open the security dialog after setting it, it is empty again). I tried setting permissions, but that gives an error. I’ve included a screencap-flowchart of the security dialog of one of the drives below. (Yes, I made sure that there are no upper- or lower-filters, and yes, I ran sfc. I also made sure that in the policy editor, “devices: restrict CD-ROM...” is not set.) Does anyone know what the owner and permissions are supposed to be for optical drives and how to reset them?

• Latitude D600 USB port problem

  Both USB ports stopped communicating on my D600, they have power, my optical mouse still lights up, no device works on the ports, everything is fine in Device manager in Dual boot XP and W7. Checked the bios, not much in there for USB. No usb device shows up when I use the F12 boot device menu either, so it must be some hardware issue. I have another hard drive with Ubuntu on it, popped it in and USB does not communicate with it either. Appears to have 5v but no communication, any Ideas besides another motherboard or USB card for the pcmcia slot (these don't work to well from my research)? I mostly use them for mass storage devices and pcmcia slots don't supply enough power for these devices. Thanks to all who answer with last ditch efforts. I hate to give up on it, its been good to me and still runs rather well for its vintage. EDIT: I did inspect the ports with a flashlight and did a partial disassembly of the laptop in an attempt to check the solder joints, but would require complete motherboard removal to see them, that is where I stopped. .

• Windows Vista Home memory usage problem

  Hi, I have a Windows Vista Home laptop from a client that is running on 1GB ram. The laptop is used for super basic things, word, internet, outlook, etc. What makes zero sense is that the RAM is being completely consumed, causing the PC to hang sometimes when it can't take it anymore. However, in task manager, the processes appear to only be consuming maybe 100MB (Private Working Set). The client literally has a simple setup, and is running kaspersky, though that does not seem to be indicating it is the cause of the excessive memory usage. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to resolve the memory issue or how to track down what is actually happening and fix it? G

  Hello HP Mini 210 I am trying to install windows starter 7. Currently I have installed fedora 14 xfce. And I have allocated 24 GB NTFS for hard disk for the windows partition. My current partitions are as follows: /dev/sda2 97G 4.9G 91G 6% / tmpfs 494M 92K 494M 1% /dev/shm /dev/sda1 485M 68M 392M 15% /boot /dev/sda5 169G 26G 135G 16% /home I have created a boot USD to install windows starter 7. When the computer boots into the windows setup and I selected the partition I want to install windows on. I get the following message: "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition." This is setup displaying all my partitions: Disk 0 Partition 1 500MB 0 Primary Disk 0 Partition 2 97.7GB 0 Primary Disk 0 Partition 3 4GB 0 Primary Disk 0 Partition 4 171.3GB 0 Logical Disk 0 Partition 5 24.6GB 24.5 Logical <-- Trying install on this partition NTFS I have also tried to delete the partition in setup and create a new one. • Problem installing a w2k DC on Hyper-V?

  Hi, We have a cluster with four node windows 2008 r2 and hyper-v installed. We would like to install 2 VM with role domain controller w2k (the domain is different from the domain of the hyper-v cluster). Do you know if there are any restriction on doing it? Some collegues say that we risk data corruption if we do live migrations. Others speak about the fact that Microsoft don't support w2k any more. And others have doubts because the global catalog server installed on these DC could have loss of performance. Any idea? Thanks Tony

• DNS caching server config problem

  I have a Bind DNS caching-only server setup that is working. I am bringing up a new AD domain controller that will also be a DNS server for that AD but I don't want it responding to any DNS queries except those that are AD related. So, my goal is to leave this caching server as the primary DNS server for stations on the network and have it forward requests for the AD domain to the domain controller. My understanding is that I just need a forward zone for that domain pointing to the domain controller. However it does not seem to be working. So that leaves me to think that my caching server is not forwarding properly. For example, this AD is going to have a naming convention of hostname.mydomain.local. If I do an nslookup and specify the domain controller's IP address as the server, I can query addresses that exist in DNS on that server, such as dc1.mydomain.local. However, queries to my caching server times out (I get a response from the caching server if I query mydomain.local but none of the objects in that domain). Any suggestions? • iTunes + External Hard Drive problem

  Okay, so I've always stored my music on my external hard drive and run it from there with iTunes. Recently, however, it's being a little awkward. I think it was because I accidentally tried to run a song off my hard drive when it wasn't plugged in and, as would be expected, it said it couldn't find it. So I plug the hard drive in, locate the file and off it goes. But now it won't find any of the files... When I go to the "Get Info" page on the right click menu on a song I notice it has prepended file://localhost/ to everything, so my paths look like this: "file://localhost/E:/Sam/Media/Music/[song name]" I went into the iTunes Music Library.xml file and did a search and replace for file://localhost/ and replaced it with nothing and tried opening iTunes again and it just added file://localhost/ to every file again! Anyone have any idea why it does this and how to fix it without reimporting my library?

• problem on expand network using a router

  I have a Netgear FS605 v3 router, and i'm trying to expand my network. The router is connected to the cable modem with cat5 cable. I have 2 laptop connected to the router but i'm only able to get internet connectivity in one. The first laptop i turn on, get the signal and the other one will show no connectivity. • Problem with setting up RAID 5 on FreeNAS

  I've been running FreeNAS for a while now. Hardware is 1.8 GHz Celeron, RAM 1 GB. SATA card is Via - I am not sure about the model. It's 2 ports and I have 6 x 1.5 TB hard drives. All ran OK while running on 1.5 TB, no RAID. I'm now trying to create a RAID 5 with my 6 hard drives. Software RAID. Is it normal for it to take roughly up to 2 weeks just to build the RAID? Sorry, I'm very new to implementing RAID and googling doesn't tell much other than it takes a long time. Also the RAID building process seems to fail many times. Going to degraded. I suspect it's because 4 of my hard drives are connected to my motherboard and the other 2 are connected to my SATA card. What's your take? I'm considering 2 options now. Either get a 8 port SATA card and attach all the hard drives to it. Or get a RAID controller 8 portcard which is probably going to be more pricey. Also how do you access hardware RAID through FreeNAS? I like how FreeNAS emails you should your harddrive fails. Can this be done as well with hardware RAID?

  I bought a new sound card because my built in sound card did not function. When I open YouTube, Media Player or anything that can create a sound my computer will hang up and sometimes when I start my computer it will hang when the Windows XP sound will activate. Update: My computer has no audio. It says NO AUDIO DEVICE. I already installed Realtek AC97 and Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and I also pasted stream.dll to the Windows and system32 folders and I restarted my computer but it still says NO AUDIO DEVICE. • Problem communicating with one machine in my domain

  Context: 3 HyperV guest images (DC, SQL, MOSS) 1 internal network 1 domain (PJM.COM) DC: 192.168.0.192 SQL: 192.168.0.153 MOSS:192.168.0.160 I am having communication problems from/to the MOSS machine from the other two. I removed the MOSS machine from the domain and cannot rejoin. When I ping the MOSS machine from DC, I get the following response: Pinging MOSS [192.168.0.152] Reply from 192.168.0.192 Destination host unreachable (4 times) When I ping the MOSS machine from SQL, I get the following response: Pinging MOSS [192.168.0.152] Reply from 192.168.0.153 Destination host unreachable (4 times) From the MOSS machine, I can ping the server names, however I cannot ping the FQDN. When I ping from the DC and SQL machines, I get IPv4 addresses. When I ping from the MOSS machine, I get IPv6 addresses. I'm a developer and don't know what steps to take to resolve this issue. Please help!?

I expect it to return 4 (index #4, in a 1-based index, representing that CheckedIn is the first non-OK element) Any ideas how to do this?

  My company has a JBoss cluster sitting behind a firewall that performs NAT. We forward ports to JBoss from the firewall, so that our client application can access the server. We are having trouble when JBoss replies it tells the clients to connect to the internal hostname, not the external one with which the initial connection was made. Symptoms: From a domain-member Windows 7 Client: Domain credentials to a domain controller = success Domain credentials to a member server (by hostname or FQDN) = success Domain credentials to a member server (by IP) = fail Local credentials to a member server (by either) = success From a non-domain-member Windows 7 Client: Domain credentials to a domain controller = success Domain credentials to a member server = fail Local credentials to a member server = success (Identical behavior from a Mac RDC 2.1 client) Server Configuration Details: Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter w/ SP1 The domain in question is a subdomain of a Windows 2008 domain (forest root). Root has DCs in both Site A and Site B, subdomain only has DCs in Site B. RDP is operating normally on all root member-servers and DCs. No remote desktop settings are defined by GPOs. Network level authentication is enabled; all clients are compatible and the certificate exchange/SSL handshake completes successfully. Not catching any errors in netlogon log.
