• Curser blinking with any change of referesh rate of any window

  my problem is my courser is blinking for any windows that refresh. for example right now each litter i write the courser blink for it , well it's acceptable now but imagine what happen when i open facebook (each picture , each simple element in the web page the courser blink for it) , please help me i really want to move to Ubuntu but problems keep get in my way and push me back to windows PC status : Core i5 , 4G ram , Nvidia optimus 310m , 500G HDD. Condition : it was working good with Ubuntu 13.04 but after the ugprade to 13.10 the problem apear and thanks in advance

• Control Media via Arduino

  I want to create an application that controls the volume, play next\last, stop\play and things like this (I don't know what they called) like in a keyboard. I have tried to find how to do this with Python\Java but I couldn't find how. The main idea is (if some-one knows what is arduino) to connect it to my PC (Ubuntu) and to get from it signals that gives me values and with this values to be able to change the volume and to do next song\video.   I just successfully upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04, and these instructions appear to be exactly what I want. However, for the life of me, I cannot find Thunderbird's tools menu to import my Evolution email. I am using Thunderbird installed as part of the 12.04 upgrade, and the Thunderbird global menu package is installed. I checked. I cannot find how to indicate what version Thunderbird is other than it was installed as part of 12.04. Thanks.

• How does opengl-es 2 assemble primitives?

  Two things I'm quite confused about. 1) OpenGL ES 2.0 creates primitives before the vertex shader is invoked. Why, then, does it not automatically provide the vertex shader the position of the vertex? 2) OpenGL ES 2.0 supports glDrawElements(), but it does not support glEnableClientState() or GL_VERTEX_ARRAY, so how can this call possibly be used to construct primitives? NOTE: this is OpenGL ES 2.0, NOT normal OpenGL! Thanks!

• Ubuntu 10.04 Cant Adjust brightness on my lenovo Thinkpad?

  I cant seem to be able to adjust the brightness on my think-pad laptop running Ubuntu 10.04. In the power management applet it shows that the power is set to 100%, but even if i try to lower it the actual screen brightness dosent change. Any ideas of how I can get around this? I tried changing the brightness from the terminal but its already set to Max brightness (however the actual screen brightness is no that bright at all). Thanks

  I am trying to use the stencil buffer for rendering reflection and am working with SDL and OpenGL. When I give the command SDL_GL_SetAttribute(SDL_GL_STENCIL_SIZE,8),I get a return value of 0 indicating success,but when I try to get the size allocated using SDL_GL_GetAtribute( SDL_GL_STENCIL_SIZE,&i),I get a value of 0 for my stencil buffer due to which I am not getting the desired rendering. Can someone help me to correct my mistake? Is there some other initialization also required? Thanks

• Why are graphics so slow/jerky/lagged with an ATI 4250?

  Never had a problem with Maverick, always very fast. I upgrade to Natty and the graphics seem to be very lagged. CPU, load, and memory usage is low, all graphics are choppy and lagged though. I have the proprietary driver installed and everything. Alt-Tabbing takes 3-5 seconds for the dialog to popup, zooming in with compiz zoom makes things very slow. I never had any of these problems with 10.10 Thanks

  I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 and my monitor had a problem where Green is the bright colour, there's no way to change it in the monitor settings, so when I was using WinXP (I'm new in here) I changed the green to lower using Video Driver settings, in here (ubuntu) I don't know exactly how I would change the green colour to low, so my "black" would be seem has a real black, no green. • Is there a jQuery lightbox plugin that has thumbnails inside the box?

  I'm trying to find a lightbox style plugin in jQuery that displays thumbnails at the bottom of the picture (or video, or whatever). I found plenty of lightbox plugins, but none that allows navigation by thumbnail inside the box. The plugin must be able to open images, swf and inline content. I realize that jQuery will not be able to generate the thumbnails and that's ok. Do you have any good ones to suggest? Thanks

• XNA Rendering vertices that only appear within the cameras view

  I'm making a game in XNA and I recall hearing that professionally made games use a technique to only render the polygons that appear within the cameras projection. I've been trying to find something on this to do something similar in my game, could anyone point me in the right direction? Right now all I have is a plane/grid of vertices that you can set the X/Y on which is drawn using DrawUserIndexedPrimitives, but I plan to make a bunch of props as scenery items and I can imagine myself running into issues later on if I don't address this now.
