  • Watir question regarding select_list and reloading

    - by AJ
    I have a drop down with multiple options. Whenever you choose an option, the page reloads with data specific with that option. Currently I'm using select.list(:name, strg).set(value) and it does that part just fine, but it does not reload the page with the specific data. Anyone know how to help. When i watch it in action, it doesn't select the option either, but my logs show that it does.Thanks.

  • C++ streams question (explanation of comment in code)

    - by skyeagle
    I am playing around with the fastCGI application found here. The following comment is in the code: if (content) delete []content; // If the output streambufs had non-zero bufsizes and // were constructed outside of the accept loop (i.e. // their destructor won't be called here), they would // have to be flushed here. My knowledge of C++ streams is rather weak. Could someone please explain the following: which streambufs are being referred to in the comment? under what conditions would the streambufs had non-zero bufsizes? last but not the least, can someone point to a resource (pun intended) online that provides a clear but gentle introduction to C++ IO streams?

  • Linq to SQL - design question.

    - by UshaP
    HI, Currently i have one big datacontex with 35 tables (i dragged all my DB tables to the designer). I must admit it is very comfortable cause i have ORM to my full DB and query with linq is easy and simple. My questions are: 1. Would you consider it bad design to have one datacontext with 35 tables or should i split it to logic units? 2. Is there any performance penalties for using such a big datacontext? Thanks, Pini.

  • C Question: How to store data inside the executable file

    - by michael
    Hello all, complete newbie here, I need to find a way to store 250 KB of plain text numbers inside my program's executable file. Usually, I would put the data in a separate file and let the program read it while it is running, but that's not an option here. Instead, the program and the data need to be in one executable file. I have absolutely no idea how to do it (except writing 250.000 #defines :-) and I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thank you very much!

  • Basic Hibernate question using and sql query

    - by Aerosteak
    Hello Sorry if this is basic but I cannot find the solution anywhere. I have an java Object ‘Person’ with 3 properties firstname, lastname and username. I have an Oracle Store procedure returning a Resultset with the 3 column. All works fine for that. Now I have another StoreProcedure that will only return firstname and lastname but not username. I get the following error : « could not read column value from result set username. » Hibernate tries to fetch the username property from the resultset. If I remove the property username, then it works. Do I have to Create a Special Pojo for Each type of resultset or can I tell Hibernate what to map for each result set? Please help.

  • Question about a possible design pattern...

    - by Aftershock
    I have such a design in my mind.... My aim is to reuse the program with some features included and without some features. What is it called in the literature? class feature1 { void feature1function1(); void feature1function2(); } class feature2 { void feature2function1(); void feature2function2(); } class program: feature1, feature2 { void function1() { feature2function1(); } void function2() { feature1function1(); feature2function1(); } void execute() { function1(); function2(); } }

  • Objective-C++ visibility question

    - by John Smith
    I have linked a library with my program. It works fine. The only problem is that there visibility errors/warnings (thousands of them). They are all of the form: newlib::method() has different visibility (default) in newlib.a and (hidden) in AppDelegate.o It is always with AppDelegate.o. I have tried to set the visibility for both the library and the main app in several ways: the visibility checkmark in XCode, and -fvisibility. Non seem to have worked. Is there somethin special about AppDelegate.mm?

  • Django Datetime field question

    - by Shehzad009
    Hello I have been having a problem with django while trying to work with datetime. In my webapp I have a table like so when I run server. ID Owing 1 -100 (All the same value) 2 -100 3 -100 . . . . . . It has in one column Invoice id and the other owing. One-one relationship as well. sow for example owing value for 1 is 100. Unfortunately, this is where it all goes wrong because throughout column (Owing), it is giving me the owing value for ID=1. I want each ID to give me their owing value. Here is my view. I also wonder if I may need a for loop somewhere as well. def homepage(request): invoices_list = Invoice.objects.all() invoice_name = invoices_list[0].client_contract_number.client_number.name invoice_gross = invoices_list[0].invoice_gross payment_date = invoices_list[0].payment_date if payment_date <= datetime.now(): owing = invoice_gross if payment_date > datetime.now(): owing = 0 else: owing= 0 return render_to_response(('index.html', locals()), {'invoices_list': invoices_list ,'invoice_number':invoice_number, 'invoice_name':invoice_name, 'invoice_gross':invoice_gross, 'payment_date':payment_date, 'owing': owing}, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) EDIT: Here is my template. The thing is the function owing is not in my models so saying {{invoices.owing}} wont work. {% for invoices in invoices_list %} <tr> <td>{{invoices.invoice_number}}</td> <td>{{invoices.invoice_contact}}</td> <td>{{invoices.client_contract_number}}</td> <td>{{invoices.payment_date|date:"d M Y"}}</td> <td>{{invoices.invoice_gross}}</td> <td>{{owing}}</td> {% endfor %}

  • iPhone audio Filter Question

    - by Joe
    Okay, I am going to try to make this totally not a "plz send teh codez kthxbai" I am considering an app which takes sound (eventually an audio track) and applies an audio filter to it. So I can play sounds with AudioServicesPlaySystemSound via AudioToolbox framework just fine. What I need is a very simple example of how I might take a sound and apply (for instance) midrange boost etc. Actually the kind of alteration is irrelevant -- if I can get my head around how the alteration is done I can figure out the rest. I am just finding both docs and examples of altering audio in code to be very scarce. Thanks for any help!

  • Pygame - Different sided collision question!

    - by Alex Lockwood
    Hi there everyone! I'm making a Pygame of, basically, "Breakout". I'm using collisions, and want a simple way to have different bounce effects of the different sides of one rectangle. What I currently have for the ball-to-bat collision is this: "dot" = ball; "bat" = bat; so you all understand. if dot.rect.colliderect(bat.rect):<br> dot.dy *= -1 I'd like something that interacts with each side, so could reverse the self.dx value of the ball when it hits the side of the bat, and only reversing the self.dy value when it strikes the top. Thanks!!! :D

  • Access Question

    - by kralco626
    I have a record set for inspections of many peices of equipment. The four cols of interest are equip_id,month,year,myData. My requirment is to have EXACTLY ONE Record per month for each peice of equipment. I have a quiery that makes the data unique over equip_id,month,year. So there is no more than one record for each month/year for a peice of equipment. But now I need to simulate data for the missing month. I want to simply go back in time to get the last peice of my data. So that may seem confusing, so i'll show by example. Given this: equip_id month year myData 1 1 2010 500 1 2 2010 600 1 5 2010 800 2 2 2010 300 2 4 2010 400 2 6 2010 500 I want this: equip_id month year myData 1 1 2010 500 1 2 2010 600 1 3 2010 600 1 4 2010 600 1 5 2010 800 2 2 2010 300 2 3 2010 300 2 4 2010 400 2 5 2010 400 2 6 2010 500 Notice that im filling in missing data with the data from the month ( or two months etc.) before. Also note that if the first record for equip 2 is in 2/2010 than I don't need a record for 1/2010 even though I have one for equip 1. I just need exactly one record for each month/year for each peice of equipment. So if the record does not exsist I just want to go back in time and grab the data for that record. Thanks!!!

  • sql server query/subquery question

    - by parminder
    Hi Experts, I have a tables with data like this Id BookId TagId 34 113421 9 35 113421 10 36 113421 11 37 113421 1 38 113422 9 39 113422 1 40 113422 12 I need to write a query (SQL Server) which gives me data according to the tags say if I want bookIds where tagid =9 it should return bookid 113421 and 113422 as it exists in both the books, but If I ask data for tags 9 and 10 it should return only book 113421 as that is the only book where both the tags are present. Thanks Parminder

  • Question about CALL statement

    - by Bruce
    I have the following code in VC++ Func5(){ StackWalk(); } Func4{ Func5();} I am a Beginner in x86 Assembly Language. I am trying to find out the starting address of Func5(). I get the Func5()'s return address from its stack frame. Now before this return address there should be a CALL statement. So I extract out the bytes before the return address. Sometimes it's a near call like E8 ff ff ff d8. So for this statement I subtract the offset 0x28 from the function's return address to get Func5()'s base address (where it resides in memory). The problem is I don't know how to calculate this for a indirect NEAR call. I have been trying to find out how to do it for some time now. So I have extracted out the first 5 bytes before the return address and they are ff 75 08 ff d2 I think this stands for CALL ECX (ff d2) but I am not sure. I will be very grateful if someone can tell me what kind of CALL statement this is and how I can calculate the function's base address from this kind of call.

  • Question regarding the method local innerclasses accesing the local variables of the method

    - by flash
    Hi I was going through the SCJP book about the innerclasses, and found this statement, it goes something like this. "A method local class can only refer to the local variables which are marked final" and in the explanation the reason specified is about the scope and lifetime of the local class object and the local variables on the heap, But I am unable to understand that.am I missing anything here about 'final'??

  • Rails Testing Question

    - by Steve
    Hi, I am trying to test a functionality, which inserts few details into the DB. In the test.log, it shows the insert command that is generated and also the log messages that I have placed to show the progress and everything seems to be working fine except the actual data is not getting inserted into the DB. I am checking whether data is inserted in db/test.sqlite3. No exception is generated when the test cases are run. Is there a setting, which I have to set inorder to insert data into the test DB? or am i missing anything else Thanks

  • Simple rails routing / url question

    - by justinbach
    I'm using Ryan Bates' nifty authentication in my application for user signup and login. Each user has_many :widgets, but I'd like to allow users to browse other users' widgets. I'm thinking that a url scheme like /username/widgets/widget_id would make a lot of sense--it would keep all widget-related code in the same place (the widgets controller). However, I'm not sure how to use this style of URL in my app. Right now my codebase is such that it permits logged-in users to browse only their own widgets, which live at /widgets/widget_id. What changes would I need to make to routes.rb, my models classes, and any place where links to a given widget are needed? I've done Rails work before but am a newb when it comes to more complicated routing, etc, so I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks for your consideration!

  • Html newbie! background-image question

    - by Kevin Li
    Hi! I'm learning HTML and I wanted to practice by recreating a invoice sent to me by Electronics Expo. However, I used the background-image property and repeated it by repeat-x and now, the background stretches across the page so much that it has a horizontal bar to drag. http://htmlpocketreference.110mb.com/index.html You can see what I did in my link above. Also, I would really appreciate some advice on simplifying my CSS coding. It seems really messy and I have to move every element once something changes. -.- Thanks!

  • Quick, Beginner C++ Overloading Question - Getting the compiler to perceive << is defined for a spec

    - by Francisco P.
    Hello everyone. I edited a post of mine so I coul I overloaded << for a class, Score (defined in score.h), in score.cpp. ostream& operator<< (ostream & os, const Score & right) { os << right.getPoints() << " " << right.scoreGetName(); return os; } (getPoints fetches an int attribute, getName a string one) I get this compiling error for a test in main(), contained in main.cpp binary '<<' : no operator found which takes a right-hand operand of type 'Score' (or there is no acceptable conversion) How come the compiler doesn't 'recognize' that overload as valid? (includes are proper) Thanks for your time.

  • Simple Obj-C Memory Management Question

    - by yar
    This is from some sample code from a book // On launch, create a basic window - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { UIWindow *window = [[UIWindow alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]]; UINavigationController *nav = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:[[HelloController alloc] init]]; [window addSubview:nav.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } But a release is never called for window nor for nav. Release should be called since alloc was called, right? If #1 is right, then I would need to store a reference to each of these in an instance variable in order to release them in the dealloc? Perhaps I'm wrong all around...

  • php class basic question

    - by Ross
    hi <?php class myClass { var $input; var $output; function myClass($input) { $output = 'You entered: ' . $input; return $output; } } $test = new myClass; echo $test->myClass(123); ?> this works, but returns this warning: Warning: Missing argument 1 for myClass::myClass() I read in to this, and seems that the constructor is expecting a value, so by adding: function myClass($input='') the warning is removed, but this seems so unnecessary? could someone enlighten me as to why it's required to define a value to prevent that warning? thanks for any pointers
