• Google's Opinion on Javascript Page Refresh

  I was wondering if anyone knows Google's view on this. My company has a homepage that features a lot of 3rd parties on it and it needs to inform customers which ones are currently online, which aren't, and which are currently busy. Because this constantly changes, we have the homepage refresh to show the most relevant and up-to-date content to our users. I'm not using a meta refresh element in the http-equiv parameter to do this. Instead I have this js element to refresh the page: window.setTimeout("refreshPage()", 120000); I just want to know whether people think Google might consider this a violation of the content guidelines or not. Or if it's not an outright violation, then at least if Google frowns on this or not. It doesn't redirect the user to a different page or anything, just refreshes the page so that they can see the most relevant content.

In some ways this was an easier book to write than the Developers Guide, the hard bit was deciding what recipes to include.  Once we had decided that the writing of the book was pretty straight forward. • What is the best idea to put available OS (linux) and Web application to client?

  After a year programming a web based business management system, I got my idea divided into two differents ways to do what I'm doing... I will try to explain in follow lines: First I will describe my enviroment: Webserver: apache, ngynx Programming Language: PHP, Shell Script, Java Script, SQL Database: Mysql Operating System: Linux, UNIX (All Distros) (If manually configured works on windows) Authentication Server: FreeRadius First situation I have my application running on this enviroment that I had just described before, as my application is a SaaS app, then I have my own server to run it all and customers pay to use it as a service accessed by webbrowser. Second Situation The same as before but with one big difference, everything (environment) is installed in the customer, then I need to cryptography all my codes (It includes PHP and Shell Scripts). I think this situation is most difficulty, but I would like to hear it from different points of view.

• Open source ASP.NET MVC project for a SaaS application

  I am working on a personal project that offers a service online. I'd like put this out to the public. I don't want to reinvent the wheel and use an existing template/open source project and add my service specific functionality. The features I am looking for are: Support for different roles (I need to have an admin role, customer and preferred customer roles) An admin section where admins can manage user accounts, login as with users credentials for providing support Customer pages that are role specific (Ex: Some functionality can be used by preferred customers but not non preferred ones) Preferably a pricing/plans page with payment gateway integration These are some of the basic pages available in most of service sites online. Is there a MVC 3 (preferably 4) written in C# that I can use as a shell to build upon? Thanks

• Internal and external API architecture

  The company I work for maintains a successful SaaS product that grew "organically" over the years. We are planning to expand the line with a suite of new products that will share data with the existing product. To support this, we are looking to consolidate business logic into a single place: a web service layer. The WS layer will be used by: The web applications A tool to import data A tool to integrate with other client software (not an API per se) We also want to create an API that can be used by our customers that are capable of using it to create their own integrations. We are struggling with the following question: Should the internal API (aka the WS layer) and the external API be one in the same, with security and permission settings to control what can be done by who, or should they be two separate applications where the external API just calls the internal API like any other application? So far in our debate it seems that separating them may be more secure, but will add overhead. What have others done in a similar situation?

• Multiple domain names with pages linking to one website

  Hello, I work for a company who have been redesigning their company website. I have been asked to register loads of domain names that contain the keywords that they want to use on the original site. Each of these domain names will contain a one page website with a destription of what the company offers and a link saying something along the lines of 'click here for more infmormation' which then takes you to the main site. The idea being the main site will then be recieving a lot of inbound links and hopefully rise in the google rankings, not to mention bring in more customers who have come to the site from all the other domain names who wouldn't have normally got to the website because it wasn't ranked on the first page. Is this a good idea or will Google see this as spam and penalise the main site for having loads of links to it from one page websites hosted on the same nameserver? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark.

• Lack of Transparency in the Supply Chain Results in Inconsistent Reporting on Conflict Minerals

  May 31, 2014 was the official deadline for U.S.-listed companies to disclose use of conflict minerals to the SEC. Of the estimated 6,000 companies that were required to file audits of their tin, gold, tungsten or tantalum in their products, only 1,300 filed reports, and these results have revealed the ongoing challenges that many manufacturers are having complying with this legislation. An article authored by IDC analyst Heather Ashton,"Conflict Minerals Reporting Passes a Notable Milestone" notes that many leading companies such as Intel, Apple and HP filed their reports ahead of the deadline, but other companies are struggling with trying to trace their supply chain back to raw materials, especially as many non-U.S. based suppliers have no legal requirement to comply with the law since they are not U.S.-listed companies. • In launcher, disable the music suggestion section

  Everytime I want to launch an office program, I begin typing "of" in the launcher, and... pictures of lightly-clothed ladies show up. Not the end of the world, but because I do this a lot in front of customers and bosses, it is often embarrassing. I have already disabled Zeitgeist and "recently used". Banshee does not have any Zeitgeist item in Edit > Preferences > Extensions. Is there a way to disable this "Music" section in the launcher suggestions? Or maybe I just must stop playing dance music via Banshee...

• eDelivery (Delivery Cloud) Housekeeping - removal of obsolete EPM products

  You may have noticed that Weblogic Server (WLS) 9.2.X and WLS 10.0.X releases have been removed from the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud. The Delivery Team has been asked to remove or update any product pack or product that embeds WLS 10.3.2 or earlier versions. This is consistent with general Oracle practice of removing old product versions from public distribution systems, and encourages customer usage and adoption of newer product releases such as WLS 10.3.3 or newer.  For the convenience of existing supported customers, a media request SR on My Oracle Support can be entered to obtain any removed media.  Information on how to open such an SR can be found on  MOS Doc ID 1071023.1 . OTN will also be reviewed and similar modifications may potentially be done.  The following media packs will be removed from E-Delivery this week, as of the above reason. • Why ISVs Run Applications on Oracle SuperCluster
