  • Refresh text shown in a Gtk Widget

    Hi Guys, Being resonably new to using GTK, im not fully aware of all its functionality. Basically, i have a GtkTreeView widget that has 4 Columns. I need to update the text displayed in the 4 columns every couple of seconds, but im not aware how to do this in GTK. Im aware that i could flush the data using gtk_tree_store_clear, but im not sure how to repopulate the columns and have the top level window refresh to show this new data. Any ideas? Regards Paul

    Hello, I would like to ask what is the best way to implement functionality that: User has for example 3 buttons on the main form, if he clicks on any button the form is replaced with another one where he has to fill some textcontrolls and after clicking accept redirect him to the main form.     I'd like to build an infrastructure that will monitor a server and check ping, response time, and more. The catch is that future checks (for example: does a certain file exist) will be added without recompiling the infrastructure. How do I build it in such a way that will enable me to attach inherited classes with different functionality, and execute them without recompiling? Thanks!

    For desktop browser all modern browser uses Zoom functionality so we can use PX but if same site can be seen on mobile then would px not be good for zooming in mobile browsers. or use of px is also fine for mobile browsers. even if we don't care for IE 6 , should we use em in place of px still if we are not making different site for mobile, same site will be seen on both desktop and mobile phones (iphone, blackberry, windows mobile, opera mini, android etc?

    I'm using .NET 3.5. I think I know the answer to this, but am looking for confirmation so should be a quick one! There doesn't appear to be a generic implementation of OrderedDictionary (which is in System.Collections.Specialized namespace). Is there one that I'm missing? I've found implementations out there to provide the functionality, but wondered if/why there isn't a generic implementation out-of-the-box and if anyone knows whether it's something in .NET 4.0?

    When I say this using (Entities db = new Entities()) { return db.TableName.AsQueryable().ToList(); } Do I by-pass the functionality of using block since I return something, and the method exits before exiting the using block, so I think the using block will not serve to its purpose and dispose the resource.     I really like how Lifehacker.com (and Gawker.com) implements their comment system. I believe, but am not certain, they use Movable Type as the platform for their blog. What I like about their comment system is that it's a simple open text field and once you click "Share" it then asks you to register. Question: Anyone know how to accomplish this same functionality with either Wordpress or Movable Type?

    I'm working on re-writing a WinForms application into Silverlight. One use case in the WinForms app allows users to drag TIFF images (of faxes) from Outlook directly onto an "attach an image or fax to this case" control in the WinForms app. Is there a Silverlight 4 control which allows for the same functionality? It's important to realize that saving the file to the local filesystem and then selecting and uploading the file with a standard upload control will not meet the business requirements as outlined in the project.
