  • How often is authenticated SOCKS5 used as an HTTP proxy in organizations?

    - by brainsnorkel
I'm wondering how frequently organisations use SOCKS5 as their web proxy protocol over, say, HTTP or authenticated HTTP proxies. Should an application even bother supporting SOCKS5 as an HTTP proxy? What percentage of organisations use SOCKS as a HTTP proxy? If you work in an organisation where you use SOCKS5, particularly authenticated SOCKS5, as the means of achieving HTTP Internet connectivity I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts. If you have experience with requirements for SOCKS5 proxies in your software I'd like to hear your thoughts too.

  • Are there any simple, stupid, module based, cross-platform, c++ projects that I can check out of a r

    - by leeand00
I'm looking for one just to get a general idea of how a standard C++ project should be properly setup. (If that's possible... :-p) Here are my requirements for this project: module-based (has libraries/modules that compile into a main program module) compiles cross-platform I'd like to do this so that I can get a hold on the basics of how a good C++ project is setup, and so that I can test out Premake.

  • Alternatives to "Raining Sockets"

    - by sanity
I need to build a Java app with considerable IO requirements, supporting tens of thousands of concurrent TCP connections. I found a library called Raining Sockets which seems intended to make it easier to use Java's asynchronous NIO package, but the last update was 6 years ago. Are there other libraries, that are preferably still under active development, and with a public maven repository, that I should look at?

  • Cheap and cheerful rand() replacement.

    - by Mick
After profiling a large game playing program, I have found that the library function rand() is consuming a considerable fraction of the total processing time. My requirements for the random number generator are not very onerous - its not important that it pass a great battery of statistical tests of pure randomness. I just want something cheap and cheerful that is very fast. Any suggestions?

  • Date based publishing ASP.NET MVC

    - by kayluhb
I am building a custom CMS in ASP.NET MVC and one of the requirements is that the content has a start and end date that dictates whether or not the page appears on the site. What is the best approach to this? Should I run some sort of chron job to mark the status of the page according to its publish dates? Does anyone have any resources or advice on the matter?

  • How to handle error in this case? By Exceptions or boolean or something else

    - by TP
I am trying to create a Response class in Java which has a method void setResponse(String response); Different response subclasses will have different requirements for the response. The string that is passed to the function is received from the user. What is the correct way of handling a wrong response? Should the function throw an exception like IllegalResponseException Should the function be declared like boolean setResponse(String response, String errorMsg) and return false if the response is wrong and set the error message to the appropriate value

products purchased -------------------------- bana bana bana stra kiwi reward requirements table (related to a rewards table) reward id, products ---------------------- 1,bana 1,bana 1,bana 2,stra 2,bana 3,stra 4,cart 5,bana 5,bana 5,oliv Can you help me with sql to get rewards the products purchased qualifies for? In the case above the reward ids would be: 1 2 3 If there is a better design that would make the solution easier I welcome those as well. I'm using product names for the sake of easier explaining, I hope. (I'll replace with product ids later)

  • Linux signals with extra information parameter

    - by Tester
I was to have some extra information in the callback to sa_sigaction handler, it does not seems possible. So I was wondering if you could suggest me alternatives. Basic requirements: Function A raises an signal/event with a pointer to a struct Handler function tackles the event. The handler function would only be called on an event and a loop to wait for the event, as in select() , is undesirable. TIA

  • Pass pre-requisite check information from Config file in InstallShield

    - by sameer
Hi, I'm trying to achieve a requirement in Pre-requisites part of my package: The package should be able to check for the presence of a specific Operating System or Microsoft Patch on the target machine and block installation if the specified OS&patch is not found. I want to pass this information from Configuration xml or ini file, so that installer need not to be edited and build again for changes in requirements. Any ideas on how to achieve this!!

  • Regular expression - starting and ending with a letter, accepting only letters, numbers and _

    - by jreid9001
I'm trying to write a regular expression which specifies that text should start with a letter, every character should be a letter, number or underscore, there should not be 2 underscores in a row and it should end with a letter or number. At the moment, the only thing I have is ^[a-zA-Z]\w[a-zA-Z1-9_] but this doesn't seem to work properly since it only ever matches 3 characters, and allows repeated underscores. I also don't know how to specify requirements for the last character.

  • Using Java, Need to establish an https connection via proxy.

    - by Zombies
I need to establish and send/read over/from an https connection (to a website of course) but through an http proxy or SOCKS proxy. A few other requirements supports blocking (I can't use non-blocking/nio) isn't set as an environment or some other global scope property (there are multiple threads accessing) I was looking into HttpCore components but I did not see any support for blocking https.

  • Are there any data-binding solution that works in C++ and GWT and supports structures polymorphism?

    - by user116854
I expect it should share a common description, like XmlSchema or IDL and should generate classes for target language. I found Thrift and it's really nice solution, but it doesn't support structures polymorphism. I would like to have collections of base class objects, where I could place instances of subclasses, serialize this and deserialize at the opposite side. Some mechanism of polymorphic behavior support, like Visitor, would be a perfect. Does anybody know something suitable for these requirements?

  • Windows Can't Find SepSysPlant.exe?

    - by Stevoni
In the last two days I've suddenly started receiving the following error message: "Windows cannot find'C:\WINDOWS\sepsysplant.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again. To Search for a file, click the start." It comes and goes with no apparent association with any running applications. I only have a bare minimum of programs installed as this is a work machine (XP Pro SP3) and the Symantec virus scan (today's definitions) were unable to find anything. After a quick Google search I found 4 results all of which were asking the question or stating the existence of the file and the Yahoo search resulted with nothing. Anyone know what's causing this a way of tracking down what it is?

  • xrandr doesn’t detect display ports

    - by Psyhister
    I have a ThinkPad T510 laptop with Gentoo Linux installed on it and I can’t manage to get VGA and DisplayPort working. xrandr -q won’t show them, so I’m guessing, that there’s a problem with my kernel configuration, but I wasn’t able to find the options responsible for these ports. Here’s the output from xrandr -q: xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 320 x 175, current 1366 x 768, maximum 1366 x 768 default connected 1366x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1366x768 50.0* 51.0 52.0 1024x768 53.0 54.0 832x624 55.0 800x600 56.0 57.0 58.0 59.0 60.0 720x400 61.0 700x525 62.0 640x512 63.0 64.0 640x480 65.0 66.0 67.0 68.0 69.0 640x400 70.0 640x350 71.0 576x432 72.0 512x384 73.0 74.0 75.0 76.0 77.0 416x312 78.0 400x300 79.0 80.0 81.0 82.0 83.0 360x200 84.0 320x240 85.0 86.0 87.0 88.0 320x200 89.0 320x175 90.0 Can anyone help me figure out what the problem is and how to get the video connections to work?

  • Option 82 and dhcpd. "No free leases" for second computer

    - by SaveTheRbtz
There is DHCP server in network (isc-dhcpd-server-3.0 on FreeBSD 7.2) than gives one IP per switch port to every user via Option 82 The problem appears when user disconnects one of his computers and connects another(i.e notebook with different MAC address) then DHCPD puts to log "...network net1: no free leases", because there is record in leases file that this IP is already owned by another MAC. That second computer will have his IP only after default-lease-time (that is IIRC minimum 10min, and after 3min he usually calling support) or after deletion of dhcpd.leases file and restart of dhcpd. Is there a way to turn leases off at all, because we have strict binding between switch-port-ip?

  • How do i remove a password expiration policy?

    - by jimmygee
We had a password expiration policy recently removed from our AD but some users continued to get the "..your password will expire in x days. would you like to change it now?" message. So we added a reverse/undo policy to correct the local registry settings Maximum password age = 0 days Minimum password age = 0 days This hasn't worked as new users still seem to encounter the above "change password" message sporadically. We have now removed all custom password policy GPOs and are left with the "Default Domain Policy". Still no good. Can someone point me in the direction to fix this? And an explanation into what i was doing wrong (/how password expiration policies apply) would be useful too. thanks Environment is 2k3 server with mostly XPsp2 clients.

  • Apache2, PHP 5.2.8 Working - CRM Install Wizard Doesn't See the PHP Version

    - by nicorellius
The Apache2 server and PHP version seem to be in order, but when I launch the CRM installer at http://localhost/<CRM dir>/install.php The wizard says I need a minimum of PHP 5.1 and preferably PHP 5.2.x. The thing is, I am running PHP 5.2.8, and I know this from running php --version Plus, I spent a bunch of time learning how and (I thought, successfully) compiling PHP 5.2.8. It is quite likely I screwed up and don't have some libraries I need, but I'm not sure where to look first. Thanks in advance.
