• Dual boot 12.04 and W7 - keybaord and screen not responsive

  I installed 12.04 using WUBI on a working W7 64bit system. both KB and mouse work perfect during the BIOS boot, and on the bootmgr, I can select Windows 7 or Ubuntu to load. Once I select Ubuntu, the KB and mouse seem to loose their power (light on the mouse and Numlock leds go off) After couple of seconds, the screen gets blurry. The screen pops back at the Ubuntu login screen, the mouse gets activated (light works, as well as mouse pointer is moving) However, the keyboard is not responsive to any click, nor does any icon on the login screen. - Using the mouse, I can't select the virtual keyboard, nor the shutdown icon - like it's not accepting any mouse clicks. The following Q&A didn't answer: Keyboard not responding at login with 12.04 dual boot on toshiba satellite L775 which links to a post on the web I also tried 12.04 - Windows 7 Dual boot - not responding to keyboard in boot menu - that goes beyond the login screen, but still didnt' assist me. It's a wired USB KB The board is an Intel board, and there isn't even a PS/2 connection anymore. Tried moving around the USB's Tried removing the Mouse, and only have the KB. Neither helped.

  Our company ported moderate chunks of business logic to JavaScript. We compile the code with a minifier, which further improves performance. Since the language is dynamically typed, it lends itself well to obfuscation, which occurs as a byproduct of minification. We went to great efforts to ensure it positively screams, performance-wise. We can now do what we did before, faster, better, with less code, on more platforms. In summary, we are very satisfied with the current state of the language. I personally love the language especially for its cross-platform nature. So naturally, I read up a lot about the state of JavaScript compilers, performance and compatibility across as many browsers and platforms as I have time to research. The one theme which has been growing louder and louder these days, is the news about ECMAScript 6. So far, what I have been able to gather is that ES6 promises a better development experience; firstly by enabling new ways to do things, secondly by reporting errors early. This sounds great for those who are still waiting for the language to meet their needs before jumping on board. But we have already jumped on board in a big way. Sure, I expect that we will have to do ongoing maintenance and feature revisions on our code through the years, and that we would obviously make use of best practices at the time. But I don't see us refactoring major portions of it to take advantage of language features that are mostly intended to boost developer productivity. I keep wondering, what impact will the language advances ultimately have on our existing, well-written, well-performing code base? Is there something I am missing? Is there something we ought to look out for? Does anyone have tips or guidance on how we should approach the ecmascript.next finalization? Should we care?

• Best way to generate pieces in match-3 games, and then tracking them?

  I've been working on a match-3 style game in Actionscript using Flixel, and so far, I've been able to build the core mechanics of the game, including board generation, piece generation, piece swapping and movement, and checking algorithms. However, I am now running into issues with clearing out pieces and letting the above pieces fall down and generating new pieces. The reason I'm running into these issues is that when all of the pieces are generated, the pertinent values (position, sprite ID, and sprite object) are pushed into an array that helps me track everything, all the time. When pieces are moved, I swap the values of the corresponding arrays and life goes on. And that array is the core of my problem: if a row in the middle of the board clears out, ideally, all of the pieces above the cleared pieces should fall down to take their place and new pieces are generated at the top and also fall into place. Except if I try to do that now, all the pieces can fall down, but then I'd have to bump all of their values into the right arrays (oh god my head) and then generate new pieces and fit THOSE into the correct place in the array. Am I overthinking this? Or is there a far better way to track these pieces? Thanks guys!

• How to manage a lot of Action Listeners for multiple buttons

  I have this Tic Tac Toe game and I thought of this really cool way to draw out the grid of 9 little boxes. I was thinking of putting buttons in each of those boxes. How should I give each button (9 buttons in total) an ActionListener that draws either an X or O? Should they each have their own, or should I do some sort of code that detects turns in this? Could I even do a JButton Array and do some for loops to put 9 buttons. So many possibilities, but which one is the most proper?   I'm trying to pass a ViewData object from a master page to a view user control using the ViewDataDictionary. The problem is the ViewDataDictionary is not returning any values in the view user control whichever way i try it. The sample code below is using an anonymous object just for demonstration although neither this method or passing a ViewData object works. Following is the RenderPartial helper method i'm trying to use: <% Html.RenderPartial("/Views/Project/Projects.ascx", ViewData.Eval("Projects"), new ViewDataDictionary(new { Test = "Mark" })); %> and in my view user control i do the following: <%= Html.Encode(ViewData["Test"]) %> Why does this not return anything?   How can I pass in the current datetime parameter to a SOAP request? I know you can pass in parameters by adding a datasource to the web test project and reference it like this {{DataSource.TableName.FieldName}}. But I want to pass in current datetime parameter as a dynamic value (something like DateTime.Now). How do I go about doing this?   I have a ViewModel, it takes two parameters in the constructor that are of the same type: public class CustomerComparerViewModel { public CustomerComparerViewModel(CustomerViewModel customerViewModel1, CustomerViewModel customerViewModel2) { } } public class CustomerViewModel { public string FirstName { get; set; } public string LastName { get; set; } } If I wasn't using IOC I could just new up the viewmodel and pass the sub-viewmodels in. I could package the two viewmodels into one class and pass that into the constructor but if I had another viewmodel that only needed one CustomerViewModel I would need to pass in something that the viewmodel does not need. How do I go about dealing with this using IOC? I'm using Ninject btw. Thanks

• Passing parameters between interrupt handlers on a Cortex-M3 ...

  I'm building a light kernel for a Cortex-M3. From a high priority interrupt I'd like to invoke some code to run in a lower priority interrupt and pass some parameters along. I don't want to use a queue to post work to the lower priority interrupt. I just have a buffer and size to pass to it. In the proramming manual it says that the SVC interrupt handler is synchronous which presumably means that if you invoke it from an interrupt that's a lower priority than SVC's handler it gets called immediately (the upshot of this being that you can pass parameters to it as though it were a function call (a little like the BIOS calls in MS-DOS)). I'd like to do it the other way: passing parameters from a high priority interrupt to a lower priority one (at the moment I'm doing it by leaving the parameters in a fixed location in memory). What's the best way to do this (if at all possible)? Thanks,

I put ?q=user at the end of the URL to login as an admin. When I logged in it is the same. I couldn't navigate to any URL. It shows only homepage. I forgot to clean Drupal cache before migration.   Right now I am using something like this to delete duplicates in mysql table : delete t2 from my_table1 as t1, my_table1 as t2 where t1.TestCase = t2.TestCase and t2.id > t1.id; say I have a structure like this : ID TestCAse Result 1 T1 PASS 2 T2 FAIL 3 T3 FAIL 4 T3 PASS now, in the above case T3 is duplicate entry, and if I use the SQL that I mentioned above, it would delete 4th row where the result is PASS, but this is the row that I want to keep and I want row 3 to get deleted which is FAIL. I tried #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, :question_id => q.id}, but that was just a guess, and I don't know how to access that in AnswersController. I read the Rails API docs, and I know you can add query, too, but I still don't know how to access the value in AnswersController.

These files will have different names for the elements I am looking for and the elements I am looking for maybe at different structures. My first impression was that we should just tell them to pass in the xml in a standard format. However this is how they have their data and they insist that it is much easier if they don't have to convert it. What can I do to take in data of all types?   I am using Grails Webflow, what ever object I pass to a view, it must be Serialized. My domain models "implement Serializable", so they work. The problem is when I get a response from a WebService. It is of the org.json.JSONArray class. I just want to pass the whole Array over to the view yet it doesn't implement Serializable, so it fails, Any thoughts on how I can pass this, or my best option? Can I just edit the source of the org.json library and make every class "imp Serializable"? Or process the result into Domain objects that do "imp Serializable"

The actual program is a bit more complicated. Either I have to find a way to use recursion without using methods or I need to find a way to pass pointers nodes or actual nodes.

• Malloc to a CGPoint Pointer throwing EXC_BAD_ACCESS when accessing

  I am trying to use a snippet of code from a Apple programming guide, and I am getting a EXC_BAD_ACCESS when trying to pass a pointer to a function, right after doing a malloc. (For Reference: iPhone Application Programming Guide: Event Handling - Listing 3-6) The code in question is really simple: CFMutableDictionaryRef touchBeginPoints; UITouch *touch; .... CGPoint *point = (CGPoint *)CFDictionaryGetValue(touchBeginPoints, touch); if (point == NULL) { point = (CGPoint *)malloc(sizeof(CGPoint)); CFDictionarySetValue(touchBeginPoints, touch, point); } Now when the program goes into the if statement it assigns the 'output' of malloc into the point variable/pointer. Then when it tries to pass point into the CFDictionarySetValue function it crashes the application with: Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_ACCESS”. Someone suggested not doing the malloc and pass the point var/pointer as: &point, however that still gave me a EXC_BAD_ACCESS. What I am (and it looks like Apple) doing wrong??? Thanks in advance.

  hi, I've hard time to make Drupal work on IIS Microsoft server. I've succesfully run Joomla on the same server so I'm pretty sure the following information are correct: host: localhost user: user pass: pass databaseName = servername_databasename I've set the following line in settings.php file: $db_url = 'mysql://user:password@localhost/servername_databasename'; but what I get is this: If you are the maintainer of this site, please check your database settings in the settings.php file and ensure that your hosting provider's database server is running. For more help, see the handbook, or contact your hosting provider. I don't get any other error message such as: database doesn't exist, user/pass wrong.. just this. The database is running, I can access with phpmyadmin. I've tried both "mysql" and "mysqli". The host is a private server (IIS Microsoft), the database is Mysql The database and website files upload have also been succesfull.. so I dunno what to do to fix this issue. thanks

  I have a remote service that I need to access, according to the documentation it's restricted using basic authentication and all requests have to be posted (HTTP POST). When I post data to the remote server it replies: 401 Unauthorized Access which is fine because I'm not posting my user/pass just the data. Bu when I add my user/pass as it's describe here: http://dk.php.net/manual/en/http.request.options.php like this: $res = http_post_data('https://example.com', $data, array( 'Content-Type: "text/xml"', 'httpauth' => base64_encode('user:pass'), 'httpauthtype' => HTTP_AUTH_BASIC ) ); the protocol is https - I get a runtime error in return (it's a .Net service). I have tried it without the base64_encode but with the same result.
