  • Powershell profile "on exit" event?

    I'm looking for a way to automatically do some clean up tasks when the PowerShell session quits. So for example in my profile file I start a process which needs to run in the background for quite a lot of tasks and I would like to automatically close that process when I close the console. Is there some function the PowerShell automatically calls when closing the session as it does with prompt when displaying the prompt?

    Hi folks, I have a list of usernames on Twitter whose profiles are public. I wish to get "all the tweets" they have posted from the day they formed their profile. I checked Twitter4J examples http://github.com/yusuke/twitter4j/blob/master/twitter4j-examples/src/main/java/twitter4j/examples/GetTimelines.java . According to the Twitter API documentation, only the 20 most recent tweets are returned. Is there anyway I could perform my task?

    I've been following Ryan Bates' Railscasts tutorial on CarrierWave, which you can find here Everything works fine, except for when I go to view my profile, it gives me this error: undefined local variable or method `user' I don't know why it is telling me this, as I am using Devise for my authentication, and that is the name of my model.     I'm learning how to use the ASP.net membership, when a user registers they just create a username and password, however i want to create a page on my website called "profile" where they can fill in extra details such as firstname, lastname, date of birth ect. However i don't see where i can place this in the asp.net membership database. Theres an asp.net_profile table however i'm not sure how this works. Could someone please explain how i can do this?

  • Microsoft Office document is "locked for editing by 'another user'"

    A few of my users are in and out of various Excel 2007 spreadsheets all day. One of them reports that "50% of the time" she tries to open a spreadsheet from the file server, an information message comes up stating: foo.xlsx is locked for editing by 'another user'. Open "Read-Only" or click "Notify" to open read-only and receive notification when the document is no longer in use. Nine times out of ten the document is not open by another user. My users immediately try to open the same document again, and it works. I imagine this is caused by Excel leaving owner files on the server, but I do not know why. An added clue: When one of my users selects "Notify," a dialog pops up in a moment informing them the file is available for them to edit. Any guidance on how to solve this issue and make my users' days flow better?

  • Clicking a link in IE6 doesn't load page (internal DNS entry on our intranet)

    I have a very strange problem that is only affecting some versions of IE6. The problem does affect IE 6.0.2900.5512, but does not seem to affect 6.0.3790.3959 Basically I work for a company and we have an intranet. While I'm not an expert on "internal DNS pointers", what I was able to do was create a website (let's say about football), and when an employee who is sitting behind the company firewall types the word "football" in to the web address bar of their web browser, they get redirected to a particular server. I am told this is some kind "internally pointing DNS entry". So, I've set one of these up, and I have a placed a link to it on our company intranet page. However, when the link is clicked in IE6.0.2900.5512, the page goes blank. Clicking "refresh" then loads the correct page (the one specified in the link). Can anyone help me out here. I have tried changing the way URL is formed, everything from //football to http://football/ etc. The link works fine in every other browser and IE7+, but unfoturnatly, IE6 is still the most common browser in use at my organisation.

    Is there a way to limit software installation to one particular user or to a specific set of users only? In some software installers, this is available as an option, but in most cases the software just gets installed on all user profiles. I'd like to know if there's a way to prevent that. This will be for computers running Windows XP, Vista, and 7. If anybody can point me to a related SU topic or a link, it will be much appreciated :) (Been searching for something like this for weeks already.)

  • Windows 7 won't load unless other harddrives "disconnect"ed in UEFI shell

    I have three disks, one GPT partitioned containing Windows 7 and Debian, the other MBR partitioned containing CentOS, and the other one MBR partitioned, empty. It used to work (loading Windows boot manager using rEFIt) but now after installing CentOS and OpenIndiana on the second drive, Windows won't boot. The logo is displayed briefly and then a text mode scrollbar "Loading files", then back to the rEFIt menu. The only thing that makes it work is if I drop into the UEFI shell and run disconnect XX where XX is the device handle of the other hard drives (obtained from running devices). This makes me think that the bootloader is getting confused about where the Windows partition is. Is there any information on how the Windows UEFI boot loader finds the Windows partition, or is there any logging I can turn on to help troubleshoot this issue?

  • Dual booting Linux/Win7, Grub refuses to load Win7

    Decided to give Linux Mint a try (Ubuntu's interface annoys me), so I installed it with the intention of dual booting with Windows 7. Installation went fine, but now I can only boot into Linux Mint. Grub lists two Windows 7 menu options, but selecting either of them causes an "unknown file system" error and dumps me into a Grub recovery prompt. There, I have to manually reset the root and prefix options, as they reset hd0,msdos6 when they should be hd0,msdos5. I ran Boot Repair twice, once to fix grub errors, once to rebuild the MBR, but it didn't fix anything. I happened to notice that it looks like there's another user logged in from my (personal) computer; 19:04:47 up 40 days, 6:39, 44 users, load average: 0.10, 0.14, 0.18 USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT ME pts/4 zerg.neuron12. 18:55 0.00s 0.09s 0.04s w SOMEONE_ELSE pts/35 zerg.neuron12. Sat14 2:27m 0.08s 0.08s -bash Is this something I should be worried out - I tried to kill the other session but had a permission denied message. Is it possible we just both have the same hardware name? I'd have thought that if this were the case the server would give one of us a different name (e.g. zerg1) when we logged in to prevent confusion. This is not an area I have any experience with, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    I have a public computer lab where users must give a few short details about themselves such as their age and objective before they use the computers. Currently this information is gathered by a lab attendant on paper. I would like for the user to be given a form in Windows at the beginning of his or her session on a computer in the lab. It should be impossible to use the computer without filling out and submitting this form. I am confident in my abilities as a web application developer and I would prefer to collect the data in some sort of browser-based form. How do I present it to the user and lock them out of Windows until it has been submitted?

  • Keyboard doesn't load in windows xp after Alureon infection

    AVAST detected alureon in a number of system files including atapi.sys and kbdclass.sys iple I quarantined those files, and restarted my machine. After restarting, my keyboard and cdrom did not work (I assumed those drivers would be automatically replaced, but was apparently wrong.) I went into device manager, and checked for hardware changes, it fixed the cdrom (which works now) and looked as though it fixed the keyboard as well. It did not. After multiple reboots the keyboard is still not recognized. It works up until the XP login screen loads, after which it is completely unresponsive. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks :)
