  • What is the proper location for a sqlite3 database file?

    Hi, Everyone: I'm using a sqlite3 database to store app's data. Instead of building a database within program, I introduced an existing db file: 'abc.sqlite' into my project and put it under my 'Resources' folder. So, I think this db file should be inside of 'bundle', so at my init function, I used following statement to read it out: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"abc" ofType:"sqlite"]; if(sqlite3_open([path UTF8String], &database) != SQLITE_OK) ... It's ok that this db can be opened and data can be retrieved from it. BUT, someone told me that it's better to copy this db file into user folder: such as 'Document'. So, my question is: is it ok to use this db from main bundle directly or copy it to user folder then use that copy. Which is better? Thank you very much!

How can I easily do this?     I have a fileA with a snippet of code, and I need a script to insert that snippet into fileB on the line after a specific pattern.   • how to set a fixed color bar for pcolor in python matplotlib?

    I am using pcolor with a custom color map to plot a matrix of values. I set my color map so that low values are white and high values are red, as shown below. All of my matrices have values between 0 and 20 (inclusive) and I'd like 20 to always be pure red and 0 to always be pure white, even if the matrix has values that don't span the entire range. For example, if my matrix only has values between 2 and 7, I don't want it to plot 2 as white and 7 as red, but rather color it as if the range is still 0 to 20. How can I do this? I tried using the "ticks=" option of colorbar but it did not work. Here is my current code (assume "my_matrix" contains the values to be plotted): cdict = {'red': ((0.0, 1.0, 1.0), (0.5, 1.0, 1.0), (1.0, 1.0, 1.0)), 'green': ((0.0, 1.0, 1.0), (0.5, 1.0, 1.0), (1.0, 0.0, 0.0)), 'blue': ((0.0, 1.0, 1.0), (0.5, 1.0, 1.0), (1.0, 0.0, 0.0))} my_cmap = matplotlib.colors.LinearSegmentedColormap('my_colormap', cdict, 256) colored_matrix = plt.pcolor(my_matrix, cmap=my_cmap) plt.colorbar(colored_matrix, ticks=[0, 5, 10, 15, 20]) any idea how I can fix this to get the right result? thanks very much.

    Given a collection of named Foos from ActiveRecord, why does Array.include? not seem to call Foo.== but yet index does? class Foo < ActiveRecord::Base def ==(s) self.name == s end end class Bar < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :foos end bar.foos << Foo.new( :name = 'hmm' ) bar.foos.all.include?('hmm') # does select all from db every time = true bar.foos.include?('hmm') # does not go to db, but does not find the Foo! = false bar.foos.index('hmm') # does not go to db, but does find the Foo[0] ! = 0 bar.foos.index('eh') # no such object = nil I understand shallow about the proxies, but (without a detour into the AR source) why is index seemingly behaving correctly but include? is not !? Is this a bug in the proxy behavior, and/or is this behavior documented somewhere ? Thanks.

    I'm writing my first location based android app, but got confused about some of the GPS service api. Here are some questions I have: 1) To get my current location, I called requestLocationUpdates() with a listener in the onCreate() method of one activity. But what happens when another activity starts and the current activity goes invisible? Is the GPS location update going to stop? If so, how do I keep it on after the activity is switched? 2) how accurate is the Location.getSpeed()? How is it computed? Can it tell the difference between on bicycle and on foot? 3) not really a question about android. How to calculate the coordinates of a location, say, 100m away from my current location? 4) To stop the GPS, I only need to remove all the listeners that have been registered to locationmanager?   • How to handle Clean URIs in Classic ASP using PATH_INFO?

    I'm trying to handle Clean URIs in a Classic ASP application. In PHP, I was able to use URIs like http://example.com/index.php/foo/bar/baz and have /foo/bar/baz available in the PATH_INFO environment variable. (I usually add a rewrite rule so I do not need the index.php segment) However, I don't seem to be able to mimic this in Classic ASP. If I try http://example.com/index.asp/foo/bar/baz, I get a 404 error. Is there a way to add a path after the index.asp segment and get the PHP like behaviour in ASP? Note: I'm currently using the workaround of rewriting URLs of the form: http://example.com/foo/bar/baz/ to index.asp?path=/foo/bar/baz since I can't seem to get index.asp/foo/bar/baz to work.

  • Where to put conditionals in ANSI-syntax SQL queries

    What's the difference between these two queries? I've been resistant to jumping on the ANSI-syntax bandwagon because I have not been able to unravel various syntactical ambiguities. Is 1) returning the product of the join and only then filtering out those joined records which have weight = 500? And is 2) filtering out those prior to the join? Is 2 bad syntax? Why might I use that? 1: SELECT SOMETHING FROM FOO INNER JOIN BAR ON FOO.NAME = BAR.NAME WHERE BAR.WEIGHT < 500 2: SELECT SOMETHING FROM FOO INNER JOIN BAR ON FOO.NAME = BAR.NAME AND BAR.WEIGHT < 500

    I have a piece of C code that is used from a C++ function. At the top of my C++ file I have the line: #include "prediction.h" In prediction.h I have this: #ifndef prediction #define prediction #include "structs.h" typedef struct { double estimation; double variance; } response; response runPrediction(int obs, location* positions, double* observations, int targets, location* targetPositions); #endif I also have prediction.c, which has: #include "prediction.h" response runPrediction(int obs, location* positions, double* observations, int targets, location* targetPositions) { // code here } Now, in my C++ file (which as I said includes prediction.h) I call that function, then compile (through Xcode) I get this error: "runPrediction(int, location*, double*, int, location*)", referenced from: mainFrame::respondTo(char*, int)in mainFrame.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status prediction.c is marked for compilation for the current target. I don't have any problems with other .cpp files not being compiled. Any thoughts here?

I tried following ways to refer it in a WSDL file but it doesnt work. 1) placed the xsd file in local file system and imported it as <xsd:import namespace="http://ws.test.com/" schemaLocation="file:///D:/wsdl/Foo.xsd"></xsd:import> 2) Placed the xsd file in web root folder and imported as <xsd:import namespace="http://ws.test.com/" schemaLocation="http://localhost:8080/Xfire/Foo.xsd"></xsd:import> When I run the client I get null for the fields of response object. But this works when I embed the type definition inside the WSDL itself. How do we specify the path to external xsds? I am using xFire 1.2.6 for generating webservices. Client is generated using xFire WSGen ant task.

    I have built a basic data entry application allowing users to browse external content in iframe and enter data quickly from the same page. One of the data variables is the URL. Ideally I would like to be able to load the iframes current url into a textbox with javascript. I realize now that this is not going to happen due to security issues. Has anyone done anything on the server side? or know of any .Net browser in browser controls. The ultimate goal is to just give the user an easy method of extracting the url of the page they are viewing in the iframe It doesn't necessarily HAVE to be an iframe, a browser in the browser would be ideal.   • iPhone: TabBarController as second level of Navigation Controller

    I'm new to iphone development. I've read tutorials about implementing a tab bar controller on the window (eg as the main controller for the app). But how can I create a tab bar controller as a 'standalone' UIViewController that can be called by a navigation bar controller? Basically my navigation bar controller has an array of UIViewControllers that it displays in the table and then loads the appropriate view/controller when a user selects an item. Now I want one of these loaded views/controllers to be a tab bar controller. How can I do this? I'm not sure how to create a tab bar controller on its own without having an outlet/instance in the application delegate. Hope that made sense. Thanks.

How would I rotate the layer properly so that it stays at its final destination?   • When I Add <DIV> Bottom Scroll Bar Appears, Even Though It Is Not Greater Than The Page Width

    I have searched for this with no answer. My page loads up perfectly when I load the header, navigation and then center image...all 3 different divs. However I have more I need to add and the div tags change the size of the page even though the css I'm using isn't larger than the page. I have no idea what is happening.     Say I have a function foo: (defun foo (x y &rest args) ...) And I later want to wrap it with a function bar: (defun bar (x &rest args) (foo x 100 args)) Assume bar was then called like this: (bar 50 1 2 3) With this setup, args is a list within the body of bar that holds the trailing parameters, so when I pass it to foo, instead of getting the equivalent of (foo 50 100 1 2 3) I of course get (foo 50 100 '(1 2 3)). If these were macros, I would use `(foo ,x 100 ,@args) within the body of bar to splice args into the function call. ,@ only works inside a backtick-quoted list, however. How can I do this same sort of splicing within a regular function?

    To explain by example, take two tables, A and B Table A id foo 1 x 2 y 3 z Table B id aid bar 1 3 50 2 1 100 An example join SELECT foo, bar FROM a, b WHERE a.id = b.aid; Garners a result of foo bar z 50 x 100 What I would like to do is get all values of foo and for any instances where there isn't a corresponding bar value, return 0 for that column. My best guess was something along the lines of SELECT foo, bar AS br FROM a, b WHERE a.id = b.aid OR a.id NOT IN (SELECT aid FROM b); But that returns duplicates and non-zero values for bar. Possible?
