• What port is my SQL2008 instance running on?

  Check out this pic of my SQL 2008 Management Configuration screen for TCP: I need to know what port I am running on. Base on this previous post, I don't believe that it is 1433, which I guess is the default. When I check my port number in SQL Config Mgr., it is blank. Does this suggest a default port? Note that I have multiple SQL Server instance on the db server. 1 2000 instance and two 2008 instances. I want to know the port of the 2008b instance. Can you help?

  Hello, Is it possible to launch an application from a browser? I am not talking about opening a file from a browser (like open a PDF with Adobe Reader), but rather opening a new (blank) instance of an application that is installed on the user's machine. Hypothetical situation: User browses a website that lists computers that can be managed via RDP. He clicks on a link to 192.168.1.10, that link opens Microsoft RDP client (mstsc.exe) with that ip address already filled out. I am talking strictly about Windows universe. Is that thing even doable outside of ActiveX and IE? Is it wise to attempt this in IE with ActiveX ? Thanks a lot,

• iphone: Accessing Code for Elements Created in Interface Builder

  I am attempting to create a basic tab-bar application using interface builder. I create a new project in Xcode selecting tab bar application. My question is how can I access the code that instantiates and pushes each of the views when the tab bar buttons are pressed? I would imagine that would be done by the tab bar controller, however when I write the class file from interface builder (filewrite class files), it just creates a blank generic TabBarController.h/TabBarController.m without the methods for pushing each of the views associated with the tab bar elements. I ask this because I would like to pass each view controller a reference to the data model when they are instantiated. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

• Turn off the display on remote PC

  Hello. I'm fixing some bugs in the application for remote control (remote desktop-like) for Windows. And there is a feature that you can blank screen on remote machine - all the programms keep running unaffected, but the person who looks into the display on remote PC sees nothing but black screen. It is implemented by sending IoCtl request IOCTL_VIDEO_SET_OUTPUT_DEVICE_POWER_STATE, which is undocumented. And this request does not work on Vista and above. Are there another ways to do what I want? In fact, SendMessage(-1,WM_SOMMAND,SC_MONITORPOWER,2) does the trick, but screen turns back on if someone toches keyboard/mouse.

• FieldError when annotating over foreign keys

  I have a models file that looks similar to the following: class WithDate(models.Model): adddedDate = models.DateTimeField(auto_now_add=True) modifiedDate = models.DateTimeField(auto_now=True) class Meta: abstract = True class Match(WithDate): ... class Notify(WithDate): matchId = models.ForeignKey(Match) headline = models.CharField(null=True, blank=True, max_length=10) For each Match I'm trying to get a count of notify records that have a headline. So my call looks like matchObjs = Match.objects.annotate(notifies_made=Count('notify__headline__isnull')) This keeps throwing a FieldError. I've simplified the query down to matchObjs = Match.objects.annotate(notifies_made=Count('notify')) And I still get the same FieldError... I've seen this work in other cases (other documentation, other SO questions like this one) but I can't figure out why I'm getting an error. The specific error that is returned is as follows: Cannot resolve keyword 'notify' into field. Choices are: (all fields from Match model) Does anyone have a clue as to why I can't get this annotation to work across tables? I'm baffled after looking at the other SO question and various Django docs where I've seen this done. Edit: I am using Django 1.1.1

You can assume that most essays will be at least 200 words, are unlikely to be more than 5000 words, and are in English (or the pseudo-English sometimes called "business-ese"). You can also classify anything you want as a "word" as long as your classification would be immediately obvious to a typical user. (NB: this is not the place to debate what a "typical user" is :) )

  Hello, I'm using System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox and by default the tab size is 8 spaces. The RichTextBox itself is not that big and 8 spaces leads to a lot of scrolling. Is there any way to make it 4 spaces. If it matters, the control is initially blank and the user starts entering stuff and the tabs have to shorter (4 spaces) as the user enters text with tabs. I tried http://stackoverflow.com/questions/154204/modifying-default-tab-size-in-richtextbox and a few variations of it but no luck.

  I am trying to enable JavaScript in a Joomla template to behave differently depending on the page. In particular, I have set the Key Reference as that appears to be the most appropriate value I could find for this purpose. Unfortunately, I can't seem to access it in my code. I tried: $this->params->get("keyref") and a few other variations, but they simply returned a blank. How can I retrieve this value or is there a better way of writing page specific logic. • Accessing localhost via IIS 6.1 on Windows 7 very slow

  (I've checked here already for similiar questions, and haven't found one that's exactly the same - hence I'm posting a new question) I'm currently running an ASP.NET application on IIS 7.0 on Windows 7. When I access this application on Internet Explorer (either 6, 7 or 8) it is incredible slow and often fails to load at all. There are messages at the bottom saying: Waiting for http://localhost/....... or sometimes waiting for about:blank (I've read that this can be a virus, but I've run all the usual checks and it's not). constantly, but it returns with the usual: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" I've also tried this by using 127.0.0.1 and the machine name, with the same results. I've tried the same application on the latest Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera and they all work fine. I've also installed the same application on a Windows Server 2003 machine, and it all works fine via Internet Explorer. Soes anyone have any ideas why this doesn't work with Internet Explorer and yet does with other browsers?

  I am having some issues finding a decent tutorial for generating a loading style screen with regards to HTML5. To be quite honest I'm not sure exactly where to begin... My project is essentially a simple HTML5 game, where I'll be loading in various sprite sheets and tilesets. They'll be reasonably small, but I'd like to show a little loading spinner instead of a blank screen while all the resources are loaded. Much appreciated if somebody could point me in the right direction, be it decent links or code samples to get me going...my Google-fu is lacking today! For clarification, I need to figure out how to load the resources themselves, as opposed to finding a spinner. For instance, how to calculate that X% has loaded.

• Netbeans GUI editor problems

  Hey guys. Im making a portion of my app using the netbeans gui editor. Great so far. However ive added a new checkbox - and when i load the panel in my app the text attribute isnt shown...its just blank as if i have no caption on it... all the other ones display - so this is very annoying. It kind of seems that I have hit the limit on gui items or something, becasue any new items I add I cannot seem then, If i add new labels they dont show either :S! The other problems Im having are that the size of the window im editting appears to be fixed - every time i change it, it jumps back to the same size - how do i stop this from happening? Cheers Andy

  I have a ListView control on my form set up like this in details mode: What I would like to do, is get all the values of the data cells when the user presses the Delete booking button. So using the above example, my array would be filled with this data: values(0) = "asd" values(1) = "BS1" values(2) = "asd" values(3) = "21/04/2010" values(4) = "2" This is my code so far: Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click Dim items As ListView.SelectedListViewItemCollection = _ Me.ManageList.SelectedItems Dim item As ListViewItem Dim values(0 To 4) As String Dim i As Integer = 0 For Each item In items values(i) = item.SubItems(i).Text i = i + 1 Next End Sub But only values(0) gets filled with the first data cell of the selection (in this case "asd") and the rest of the array entries are blank. I have confirmed this with a breakpoint and checked the array entries myself. I'm REALLY lost on this, and have been trying for about an hour now.   I have a button that is hidden under certain circumstances that I wish to test. The button is hidden with [theButton setHidden: YES] in the viewDidLoad method if it is appropriate. For simplicity, lets say that the button is hidden when the buttonIsHidden property is set to true in the view controller. Right now I am trying the following: self.viewController = [[ViewController alloc] init]; self.viewController.buttonIsHidden = YES; [self.viewController loadView]; UIButton *theButton = [...] // function I wrote to retrieve the button based on it's touch up inside action if (theButton) { NSLog(@"%c", theButton.hidden); return (theButton.hidden == true) } return NO; It looks like the hidden property is not what it should be, the NSLog lines from the above code are blank. But, if I output another property like the height, it outputs the correct value so I know it is getting the right button. How do I access the hidden property of the button in this case?

  This maybe an over asked question, but my mind draws blank at this moment. I know what a candlestick chart is and how to draw it daily. But how to draw it intraday at asked time periods. I have this server, written in Java, that gives me trade depth (each trade done since the start of the day). Its just a stream of raw data: price, shares, timestamp. How does one go about calculating candlestick data from that? Lets say, they want to have 5 min candlestick or 1min candlestick. Or is there a library that will do that for me if I feed it data? Any help is appreciated!

  Hello I have an asp.net application which I used some Ajax method. in some cases I open an new window ( Full Screen ) and users must work on it. the problem is , some users report me that some times new window was blank and didnt show any content , in status bar just write connecting .... and nothing else. Just when customers closed all opening browser and open again , they can view pages. this happend when users work for a while and click open new window links before the page loaded compeletly. how can I fix this problem? regards

  Why my "mainRegion.Activate(view);" doesn't display the view on screen? It only works if I remove the default view that registered (RegisterViewWithRegion) in ModuleInit.cs though I don't put .Activate() after I added a View. But a problem occurs if I move to other module, and get back to module which default view has been removed, I get blank page. Any clues?   Hi all! I've a php script that only produces logs to the client. When I echo something, i wan't it to be transfered to client on-the-fly. (Because while the script is processing, the page is blank) I had already played arround with ob_start() and ob_flush(), but they didn't worked. What's the best solution? • Python: Find X to Y in a list of strings.

  I have a list of maybe a 100 or so elements that is actually an email with each line as an element. The list is slightly variable because lines that have a \n in them are put in a separate element so I can't simply slice using fixed values. I essentially need a variable start and stop phrase (needs to be a partial search as well because one of my start phrases might actually be Total Cost: $13.43 so I would just use Total Cost:.) Same thing with the end phrase. I also do not wish to include the start/stop phrases in the returned list. In summary: email = ['apples','bananas','cats','dogs','elephants','fish','gee'] start = 'ban' stop = 'ele' the magic here new_email = ['cats','dogs'] NOTES While not perfect formatting of the email, it is fairly consistent so there is a slim chance a start/stop phrase will occur more than once. There are also no blank elements.

• Rails 3 beta 1 - Nested layouts - LocalJumpError

  Hi Nested layouts do not work in Rails 3. After I hit this I tried Rails Guides Example on a blank project (both ruby 1.9.1 and 1.8.7). LocalJumpError no block given on line <%= yield :stylesheets %. If you remove this line you will get the same error on the next yield statement. Could someone fix(patch) this? It's probably just a matter of calling block_given? in the right place. That would be great. Thanks Added on 4/3: Rails 3 beta 2 released. Problem fixed.

• manage.py runserver not working

  I am new to django and python in general, so pardon me for any simple mistakes I may be doing. I am trying to setup my first django project on my local windows vista machine. I have created the project successfully with no problems. The issue I am coming across is when my settings.py has values for my database keys, the manage.py runserver command is failing. If I have values in settings before I run the command, as soon as I run it I get errors. If I have already run the command and the server is running, as soon as I edit the settings file with values, the errors show up in my still open command prompt. The inner most exception seems to "Error loading MySQLdb module: No module named MYSQLdb". If I leave the settings.py blank, the command executes with no problems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
