• Variable for the field name of mysql row result

  I'm retrieving a row with php from mysql and it has fields like: name_en, name_es, name_de... I want to retrieve the right field base on my $lang variable (en, es, de...). If the $lang variable is 'es', I'd need to get $row['name_es']. I've tried this (based on this thread), but it's not working: $name = $row->{'name_'.$lang}; Any idea how can I use a variable as the name of the field of a row? Thanks in advance for your help!

  Here's what I'm trying to do using the Wikipedia (MediaWiki) API - http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php Do a GET on http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?format=xml&action=opensearch&search=[keyword] to retrieve a list of suggested pages for the keyword Loop through each suggested page using a GET on http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?format=json&action=query&export&titles=[page title] Extract any paragraphs found on the page into an array Do something with the array I'm stuck on #3. I can see a bunch of JSON data that includes "\n\n" between paragraphs, but for some reason the PHP explode() function doesn't work. Essentially I just want to grab the "meat" of each Wikipedia page (not titles or any formatting, just the content) and break it by paragraph into an array. Any ideas? Thanks!

• Good way to find duplicate files?

  Hello I don't know enough about VB.Net (2008, Express Edition) yet, so I wanted to ask if there were a better way to find files with different names but the same contents, ie. duplicates. In the following code, I use GetFiles() to retrieve all the files in a given directory, and for each file, use MD5 to hash its contents, check if this value already lives in a dictionary: If yes, it's a duplicate and I'll delete it; If not, I add this filename/hashvalue into the dictionary for later: 'Get all files from directory Dim currfile As String For Each currfile In Directory.GetFiles("C:\MyFiles\", "File.*") 'Check if hashing already found as value, ie. duplicate If StoreItem.ContainsValue(ReadFileMD5(currfile)) Then 'Delete duplicate 'This hashing not yet found in dictionary -> add it Else StoreItem.Add(currfile, ReadFileMD5(currfile)) End If Next Is this a good way to solve the issue of finding duplicates, or is there a better way I should know about?   I have a model for which I want to retrieve the next record(s) and previous record(s). I want to do this via a named_scope on the model, and also pass in as an argument the X number of next/previous records to return. For example, let's say I have 5 records: Record1 Record2 Record3 Record4 Record5 I want to be able to call Model.previous or Model.previous(1) to return Record2. Similarly, I want to be able to call Model.next or Model.next(1) to return Record4. As another example I want to be able to call Model.previous(2) to return Record3. I think you get the idea. How can I accomplish this?

  I am looking to access the actual value returned from the server.getRowData returns the value after unformat applied to the value. This results in loss of information. For instance, if a double value is rounded to two decimal places and if I want to populate the form for edit with the original value returned from the server with 6 decimals, how can I get the value returned. for eg: Value returned from server : 12.345678 formatter option for column : formatter: 'number', formatoptions: {thousandsSeparator: ",", decimalPlaces: 2} Value displayed in grid : 12.35 How do I retrieve the value 12.345678 returned from the server. getRowData returns 12.35

As soon as my ajax request is successful, I would like to retrieve the value of the hidden variabl. How do I do that? • NSNumber floatValue not equal to NSNumber value

  Hi Everyone, First post here. Having a problem with NSNumber's floatValue method -- somehow, it returns an imprecise number. Here's the problem: I store a bunch of NSNumbers in an array, like this: NSArray *a = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSNumber numberWithFloat:0.04f], [NSNumber numberWithFloat:0.028f], [NSNumber numberWithFloat:0.016f], [NSNumber numberWithFloat:0.004f], nil]; Then I try to retrieve the first value (for example): NSNumber n = (NSNumber) [a objectAtIndex:0]; CGFloat f = [n floatValue]; In the debugger, n shows a value of 0.04 (in the summary column), but f shows a value of 0.0399999991. • Problem with Efficient Gridview paging without datasource control

  I am trying to do efficient paging with a gridview without using a datasource control. By efficient, I mean I only retrieve the records that I intend to show. I am trying to use the PagerTemplate to build my pager functionality. In short, the problem is that if I bind only the records that I intend to show on the current page, the gridview doesn't render its pager template, so I don't get the paging controls. It's almost as if I MUST bind more records than I intend to show on a given page, which is not something I want to do.

• Displaying large file in JTextArea.

  Hi All, I'm currently working in Swing UI Assignment. This work involves showing large file content in JTextArea. The file size can be as large as 2 GB. My initial idea is to lazily load content from the file, say 1 MB of content will be shown to the user. As the user scrolls i will retrieve the next 1 MB of content to be shown. All these operation will be happening in background thread (Swing Worker). I looked at the JTextArea API, the method insert takes String and int(position of the insert) as the parameter. This will suffice, but i'm worried about performance, because the content (1 MB at a time) retrieved will have to be converted to String object. Is there any other work around or any other alternative/better solution for this.

  Hi, I have a version number of the following form: version.release.modification where version, release and modification are either a set of digits or the '*' wildcard character. Additionally, any of these numbers (and any preceding .) may be missing. So the following are valid and parse as: 1.23.456 = version 1, release 23, modification 456 1.23 = version 1, release 23, any modification 1.23.* = version 1, release 23, any modification 1.* = version 1, any release, any modification 1 = version 1, any release, any modification * = any version, any release, any modification But these are not valid: *.12 *123.1 12* 12.*.34 Can anyone provide me a not-too-complex regex to validate and retrieve the release, version and modification numbers?   If I have a list in python such as: stuff = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9] with length n (in this case 9) and I am interested in creating lists of length n/2 (in this case 4). I want all possible sets of n/2 values in the original list, for example: [1, 2, 3, 4], [2, 3, 4, 5], ..., [9, 1, 2, 3] is there some list comprehension code I could use to iterate through the list and retrieve all of those sublists? I don't care about the order of the values within the lists, I am just trying to find a clever method of generating the lists.

• Java Swing - Drawing markers on JSlider.

  Hi, I have a progress bar which inherits from JSlider to provide highlighting functionality. Highlights can be added to the slider at a point (and a Color) and these are then painted onto the control. As follows: The problem is that I cannot get the highlights in the right place, they need to be in the same location as the markers. I also do not know how to retrieve the left and right margins to where the markers start and end. Is there anyway to get the coordinates of each marker?   Here's my problem. I'd like to have a timeout for a process I start from Java. After the timeout, I'd like to kill the process. So far, so good. Problem is, I want to capture stderr/stdout during both normal execution and after a timeout. What happens if I kill the process with destroy()? Can I retrieve the (partial) stderr/stdout produced so far? Or are they gone?

  Hi, Using Xerces SAX parser I try to retrieve all elements and their attributes of this XML file: -------------- Begin XML file to parse ---------------- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <invoice xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="my.xsd"> <parties> (...) -------------- End XML file to parse ---------------- When getting the attributes for the element 'invoice', Xerces++ does not insert the 'xmlns:xsi' attribute in the list of 'Attributes' for the element 'invoice'. However, the attribute 'xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation' is inserted in the list. Why? Is there a specific reason from an XML standard point of view ? Is there a way to configure Xerces++ SAX parser so that it inserts this attribute as well? (The documentation on setting the parser properties does not tell how). Thanks for your help.

  I'm not sure what i'm missing here, but i'm basically trying to compute interpolated values for a time series; when I directly plot the series, constraining the interpolation points with "interpolation.date.vector", the plot is correct: plot(date.vector,fact.vector,ylab='Quantity') lines(spline(date.vector,fact.vector,xout=interpolation.date.vector)) When I compute the interpolation, store it in an intermediate variable, and then plot the results; I get a radically incorrect result: intepolated.values <- spline(date.vector,fact.vector,xout=interpolation.date.vector) plot(intepolated.values$x,intepolated.values$y) lines(testinterp$x,testinterp$y) Doesn't the lines() function have to execute the spline() function to retrieve the interpolated points in the same way i'm doing it?

• Unable to save to wincache from cakePHP shell

  I'm trying to retrieve the weather from wunderground.com through their API, and store it in wincache. For testing purposes I made this function in the News model: public function updateWeather(){ $results = file_get_contents('http://api.wunderground.com/api/**api_key**/conditions/q/CA/Montreal.json'); $results = json_decode($results); return Cache::write('weather', $results); } It works fine when I call this from the controller. However, I can't figure why that same function doesn't work when called from the console. I made this shell in order to eventually add this to windows task scheduler. class WeatherShell extends AppShell { public $uses = array('News'); public function main() { $this->News->updateWeather(); } } When running this, I see that $results is correctly populated. I get 'true' from Cache::write(), however, I get 'false' when trying to read. What subtlety am I missing?

  My code is working fine in FireFox but my users are restricted to IE. • Save a binary file in SQL Server as BLOB and text (or get the text from Full-Text index)

  Currently we are saving files (PDF, DOC) into the database as BLOB fields. I would like to be able to retrieve the raw text of the file to be able to manipulate it for hit-highlighting and other functions. Does anyone know of a simple way to either parse out the files and save the raw text on save, either via SQL or .net code. I have found that Adobe has a filtdump utility that will convert the PDF to text. Filtdump seems to be a command line tool, and i don't see a way to use a file stream. And what would the extractor be for Office documents and other file types? -or- Is there a way to pull out the raw text from the Full text index? Note i am trying to build a .net & MSSql solution without having to use a third party tool such as Lucene
