  • A "Trig" Calculating Class

    - by Clinton Scott
    I have been trying to create a gui that calculates trigonometric functions based off of the user's input. I have had success in the GUI part, but my class that I wrote to hold information using inheritance seems to be messed up, because when I run it gives an error saying: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.RuntimeException: Uncompilable source code - constructor ArcTrigCalcCon in class TrigCalc.ArcTrigCalcCon cannot be applied to given types; required: double,double,double,double,double,double found: java.lang.Double,java.lang.Double,java.lang.Double reason: actual and formal argument lists differ in length at TrigCalc.TrigCalcGUI.(TrigCalcGUI.java:31) at TrigCalc.TrigCalcGUI.main(TrigCalcGUI.java:87) Java Result: 1 and says it is the object causing the problem. Below Will be my code. First I will put up my inheritance class with cosecant secant and cotangent and then my original class with the original 3 trig functions: { public ArcTrigCalcCon(double s, double cs, double t, double csc, double sc, double ct) { // Inherit from the Trig Calc class super(s, cs, t); cosecant = 1/s; secant = 1/cs; cotangent = 1/t; } public void setCsc(double csc) { cosecant = csc; } public void setSec(double sc) { secant = sc; } public void setCot(double ct) { cotangent = ct; } } Here is the first Trigonometric class: public class TrigCalcCon { public double sine; public double cosine; public double tangent; public TrigCalcCon(double s, double cs, double t) { sine = s; cosine = cs; tangent = t; } public void setSin(double s) { sine = s; } public void setCos(double cs) { cosine = cs; } public void setTan(double t) { tangent = t; } public void set(double s, double cs, double t) { sine = s; cosine = cs; tangent = t; } public double getSin() { return Math.sin(sine); } public double getCos() { return Math.cos(cosine); } public double getTan() { return Math.tan(tangent); } } and here is the demo class to run the gui: public class TrigCalcGUI extends JFrame implements ActionListener { // Instance Variables private String input; private Double s, cs, t, csc, sc, ct; private JPanel mainPanel, sinPanel, cosPanel, tanPanel, cscPanel, secPanel, cotPanel, buttonPanel, inputPanel, displayPanel; // Panel Display private JLabel sinLabel, cosLabel, tanLabel, secLabel, cscLabel, cotLabel, inputLabel; • How to save/retrieve words to/from SQlite database?

    - by user998032
    Sorry if I repeat my question but I have still had no clues of what to do and how to deal with the question. My app is a dictionary. I assume that users will need to add words that they want to memorise to a Favourite list. Thus, I created a Favorite button that works on two phases: short-click to save the currently-view word into the Favourite list; and long-click to view the Favourite list so that users can click on any words to look them up again. I go for using a SQlite database to store the favourite words but I wonder how I can do this task. Specifically, my questions are: Should I use the current dictionary SQLite database or create a new SQLite database to favorite words? In each case, what codes do I have to write to cope with the mentioned task? Could anyone there kindly help? Here is the dictionary code: package mydict.app; import java.util.ArrayList; import android.database.Cursor; import android.database.sqlite.SQLiteDatabase; import android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException; import android.util.Log; public class DictionaryEngine { static final private String SQL_TAG = "[MyAppName - DictionaryEngine]"; private SQLiteDatabase mDB = null; private String mDBName; private String mDBPath; //private String mDBExtension; public ArrayList<String> lstCurrentWord = null; public ArrayList<String> lstCurrentContent = null; //public ArrayAdapter<String> adapter = null; public DictionaryEngine() { lstCurrentContent = new ArrayList<String>(); lstCurrentWord = new ArrayList<String>(); } public DictionaryEngine(String basePath, String dbName, String dbExtension) { //mDBExtension = getResources().getString(R.string.dbExtension); //mDBExtension = dbExtension; lstCurrentContent = new ArrayList<String>(); lstCurrentWord = new ArrayList<String>(); this.setDatabaseFile(basePath, dbName, dbExtension); } public boolean setDatabaseFile(String basePath, String dbName, String dbExtension) { if (mDB != null) { if (mDB.isOpen() == true) // Database is already opened { if (basePath.equals(mDBPath) && dbName.equals(mDBName)) // the opened database has the same name and path -> do nothing { Log.i(SQL_TAG, "Database is already opened!"); return true; } else { mDB.close(); } } } String fullDbPath=""; try { fullDbPath = basePath + dbName + "/" + dbName + dbExtension; mDB = SQLiteDatabase.openDatabase(fullDbPath, null, SQLiteDatabase.OPEN_READWRITE|SQLiteDatabase.NO_LOCALIZED_COLLATORS); } catch (SQLiteException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); Log.i(SQL_TAG, "There is no valid dictionary database " + dbName +" at path " + basePath); return false; } if (mDB == null) { return false; } this.mDBName = dbName; this.mDBPath = basePath; Log.i(SQL_TAG,"Database " + dbName + " is opened!"); return true; } public void getWordList(String word) { String query; // encode input String wordEncode = Utility.encodeContent(word); if (word.equals("") || word == null) { query = "SELECT id,word FROM " + mDBName + " LIMIT 0,15" ; } else { query = "SELECT id,word FROM " + mDBName + " WHERE word >= '"+wordEncode+"' LIMIT 0,15"; } //Log.i(SQL_TAG, "query = " + query); Cursor result = mDB.rawQuery(query,null); int indexWordColumn = result.getColumnIndex("Word"); int indexContentColumn = result.getColumnIndex("Content"); if (result != null) { int countRow=result.getCount(); Log.i(SQL_TAG, "countRow = " + countRow); lstCurrentWord.clear(); lstCurrentContent.clear(); if (countRow >= 1) { result.moveToFirst(); String strWord = Utility.decodeContent(result.getString(indexWordColumn)); String strContent = Utility.decodeContent(result.getString(indexContentColumn)); lstCurrentWord.add(0,strWord); lstCurrentContent.add(0,strContent); int i = 0; while (result.moveToNext()) { strWord = Utility.decodeContent(result.getString(indexWordColumn)); strContent = Utility.decodeContent(result.getString(indexContentColumn)); lstCurrentWord.add(i,strWord); lstCurrentContent.add(i,strContent); i++; } } result.close(); } } public Cursor getCursorWordList(String word) { String query; // encode input String wordEncode = Utility.encodeContent(word); if (word.equals("") || word == null) { query = "SELECT id,word FROM " + mDBName + " LIMIT 0,15" ; } else { query = "SELECT id,content,word FROM " + mDBName + " WHERE word >= '"+wordEncode+"' LIMIT 0,15"; } //Log.i(SQL_TAG, "query = " + query); Cursor result = mDB.rawQuery(query,null); return result; } public Cursor getCursorContentFromId(int wordId) { String query; // encode input if (wordId <= 0) { return null; } else { query = "SELECT id,content,word FROM " + mDBName + " WHERE Id = " + wordId ; } //Log.i(SQL_TAG, "query = " + query); Cursor result = mDB.rawQuery(query,null); return result; } public Cursor getCursorContentFromWord(String word) { String query; // encode input if (word == null || word.equals("")) { return null; } else { query = "SELECT id,content,word FROM " + mDBName + " WHERE word = '" + word + "' LIMIT 0,1"; } //Log.i(SQL_TAG, "query = " + query); Cursor result = mDB.rawQuery(query,null); return result; } public void closeDatabase() { mDB.close(); } public boolean isOpen() { return mDB.isOpen(); } public boolean isReadOnly() { return mDB.isReadOnly(); } } And here is the code below the Favourite button to save to and load the Favourite list: btnAddFavourite = (ImageButton) findViewById(R.id.btnAddFavourite); btnAddFavourite.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { // Add code here to save the favourite, e.g. in the db. Toast toast = Toast.makeText(ContentView.this, R.string.messageWordAddedToFarvourite, Toast.LENGTH_SHORT); toast.show(); } }); btnAddFavourite.setOnLongClickListener(new View.OnLongClickListener() { @Override public boolean onLongClick(View v) { // Open the favourite Activity, which in turn will fetch the saved favourites, to show them. Intent intent = new Intent(getApplicationContext(), FavViewFavourite.class); intent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); getApplicationContext().startActivity(intent); return false; } }); }

  • Service Discovery in WCF 4.0 &ndash; Part 1

    - by Shaun
    When designing a service oriented architecture (SOA) system, there will be a lot of services with many service contracts, endpoints and behaviors. Besides the client calling the service, in a large distributed system a service may invoke other services. In this case, one service might need to know the endpoints it invokes. This might not be a problem in a small system. But when you have more than 10 services this might be a problem. For example in my current product, there are around 10 services, such as the user authentication service, UI integration service, location service, license service, device monitor service, event monitor service, schedule job service, accounting service, player management service, etc..   Benefit of Discovery Service Since almost all my services need to invoke at least one other service. This would be a difficult task to make sure all services endpoints are configured correctly in every service. And furthermore, it would be a nightmare when a service changed its endpoint at runtime. Hence, we need a discovery service to remove the dependency (configuration dependency). A discovery service plays as a service dictionary which stores the relationship between the contracts and the endpoints for every service. By using the discovery service, when service X wants to invoke service Y, it just need to ask the discovery service where is service Y, then the discovery service will return all proper endpoints of service Y, then service X can use the endpoint to send the request to service Y. And when some services changed their endpoint address, all need to do is to update its records in the discovery service then all others will know its new endpoint. In WCF 4.0 Discovery it supports both managed proxy discovery mode and ad-hoc discovery mode. In ad-hoc mode there is no standalone discovery service. When a client wanted to invoke a service, it will broadcast an message (normally in UDP protocol) to the entire network with the service match criteria. All services which enabled the discovery behavior will receive this message and only those matched services will send their endpoint back to the client. The managed proxy discovery service works as I described above. In this post I will only cover the managed proxy mode, where there’s a discovery service. For more information about the ad-hoc mode please refer to the MSDN.   Service Announcement and Probe The main functionality of discovery service should be return the proper endpoint addresses back to the service who is looking for. In most cases the consume service (as a client) will send the contract which it wanted to request to the discovery service. And then the discovery service will find the endpoint and respond. Sometimes the contract and endpoint are not enough. It also contains versioning, extensions attributes. This post I will only cover the case includes contract and endpoint. When a client (or sometimes a service who need to invoke another service) need to connect to a target service, it will firstly request the discovery service through the “Probe” method with the criteria. Basically the criteria contains the contract type name of the target service. Then the discovery service will search its endpoint repository by the criteria. The repository might be a database, a distributed cache or a flat XML file. If it matches, the discovery service will grab the endpoint information (it’s called discovery endpoint metadata in WCF) and send back. And this is called “Probe”. Finally the client received the discovery endpoint metadata and will use the endpoint to connect to the target service. Besides the probe, discovery service should take the responsible to know there is a new service available when it goes online, as well as stopped when it goes offline. This feature is named “Announcement”. When a service started and stopped, it will announce to the discovery service. So the basic functionality of a discovery service should includes: 1, An endpoint which receive the service online message, and add the service endpoint information in the discovery repository. 2, An endpoint which receive the service offline message, and remove the service endpoint information from the discovery repository. 3, An endpoint which receive the client probe message, and return the matches service endpoints, and return the discovery endpoint metadata. WCF 4.0 discovery service just covers all these features in it's infrastructure classes.   Discovery Service in WCF 4.0 WCF 4.0 introduced a new assembly named System.ServiceModel.Discovery which has all necessary classes and interfaces to build a WS-Discovery compliant discovery service. It supports ad-hoc and managed proxy modes. For the case mentioned in this post, what we need to build is a standalone discovery service, which is the managed proxy discovery service mode. To build a managed discovery service in WCF 4.0 just create a new class inherits from the abstract class System.ServiceModel.Discovery.DiscoveryProxy. This class implemented and abstracted the procedures of service announcement and probe. And it exposes 8 abstract methods where we can implement our own endpoint register, unregister and find logic. These 8 methods are asynchronized, which means all invokes to the discovery service are asynchronously, for better service capability and performance. 1, OnBeginOnlineAnnouncement, OnEndOnlineAnnouncement: Invoked when a service sent the online announcement message. We need to add the endpoint information to the repository in this method. 2, OnBeginOfflineAnnouncement, OnEndOfflineAnnouncement: Invoked when a service sent the offline announcement message. We need to remove the endpoint information from the repository in this method. 3, OnBeginFind, OnEndFind: Invoked when a client sent the probe message that want to find the service endpoint information. We need to look for the proper endpoints by matching the client’s criteria through the repository in this method. 4, OnBeginResolve, OnEndResolve: Invoked then a client sent the resolve message. Different from the find method, when using resolve method the discovery service will return the exactly one service endpoint metadata to the client. In our example we will NOT implement this method.   Let’s create our own discovery service, inherit the base System.ServiceModel.Discovery.DiscoveryProxy. We also need to specify the service behavior in this class. Since the build-in discovery service host class only support the singleton mode, we must set its instance context mode to single. 1: using System; 2: using System.Collections.Generic; 3: using System.Linq; 4: using System.Text; 5: using System.ServiceModel.Discovery; 6: using System.ServiceModel; 7:  8: namespace Phare.Service 9: { 10: [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.Single, ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Multiple)] 11: public class ManagedProxyDiscoveryService : DiscoveryProxy 12: { 13: protected override IAsyncResult OnBeginFind(FindRequestContext findRequestContext, AsyncCallback callback, object state) 14: { 15: throw new NotImplementedException(); 16: } 17:  18: protected override IAsyncResult OnBeginOfflineAnnouncement(DiscoveryMessageSequence messageSequence, EndpointDiscoveryMetadata endpointDiscoveryMetadata, AsyncCallback callback, object state) 19: { 20: throw new NotImplementedException(); 21: } 22:  23: protected override IAsyncResult OnBeginOnlineAnnouncement(DiscoveryMessageSequence messageSequence, EndpointDiscoveryMetadata endpointDiscoveryMetadata, AsyncCallback callback, object state) 24: { 25: throw new NotImplementedException(); 26: } 27:  28: protected override IAsyncResult OnBeginResolve(ResolveCriteria resolveCriteria, AsyncCallback callback, object state) 29: { 30: throw new NotImplementedException(); 31: } 32:  33: protected override void OnEndFind(IAsyncResult result) 34: { 35: throw new NotImplementedException(); 36: } 37:  38: protected override void OnEndOfflineAnnouncement(IAsyncResult result) 39: { 40: throw new NotImplementedException(); 41: } 42:  43: protected override void OnEndOnlineAnnouncement(IAsyncResult result) 44: { 45: throw new NotImplementedException(); 46: } 47:  48: protected override EndpointDiscoveryMetadata OnEndResolve(IAsyncResult result) 49: { 50: throw new NotImplementedException(); 51: } 52: } 53: } Then let’s implement the online, offline and find methods one by one. WCF discovery service gives us full flexibility to implement the endpoint add, remove and find logic. For the demo purpose we will use an internal dictionary to store the services’ endpoint metadata. In the next post we will see how to serialize and store these information in database. Define a concurrent dictionary inside the service class since our it will be used in the multiple threads scenario. 1: [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.Single, ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Multiple)] 2: public class ManagedProxyDiscoveryService : DiscoveryProxy 3: { 4: private ConcurrentDictionary<EndpointAddress, EndpointDiscoveryMetadata> _services; 5:  6: public ManagedProxyDiscoveryService() 7: { 8: _services = new ConcurrentDictionary<EndpointAddress, EndpointDiscoveryMetadata>(); 9: } 10: } Then we can simply implement the logic of service online and offline. 1: protected override IAsyncResult OnBeginOnlineAnnouncement(DiscoveryMessageSequence messageSequence, EndpointDiscoveryMetadata endpointDiscoveryMetadata, AsyncCallback callback, object state) 2: { 3: _services.AddOrUpdate(endpointDiscoveryMetadata.Address, endpointDiscoveryMetadata, (key, value) => endpointDiscoveryMetadata); 4: return new OnOnlineAnnouncementAsyncResult(callback, state); 5: } 6:  7: protected override void OnEndOnlineAnnouncement(IAsyncResult result) 8: { 9: OnOnlineAnnouncementAsyncResult.End(result); 10: } 11:  12: protected override IAsyncResult OnBeginOfflineAnnouncement(DiscoveryMessageSequence messageSequence, EndpointDiscoveryMetadata endpointDiscoveryMetadata, AsyncCallback callback, object state) 13: { 14: EndpointDiscoveryMetadata endpoint = null; 15: _services.TryRemove(endpointDiscoveryMetadata.Address, out endpoint); 16: return new OnOfflineAnnouncementAsyncResult(callback, state); 17: } 18:  19: protected override void OnEndOfflineAnnouncement(IAsyncResult result) 20: { 21: OnOfflineAnnouncementAsyncResult.End(result); 22: } Regards the find method, the parameter FindRequestContext.Criteria has a method named IsMatch, which can be use for us to evaluate which service metadata is satisfied with the criteria. So the implementation of find method would be like this. 1: protected override IAsyncResult OnBeginFind(FindRequestContext findRequestContext, AsyncCallback callback, object state) 2: { 3: _services.Where(s => findRequestContext.Criteria.IsMatch(s.Value)) 4: .Select(s => s.Value) 5: .All(meta => 6: { 7: findRequestContext.AddMatchingEndpoint(meta); 8: return true; 9: }); 10: return new OnFindAsyncResult(callback, state); 11: } 12:  13: protected override void OnEndFind(IAsyncResult result) 14: { 15: OnFindAsyncResult.End(result); 16: } As you can see, we checked all endpoints metadata in repository by invoking the IsMatch method. Then add all proper endpoints metadata into the parameter. Finally since all these methods are asynchronized we need some AsyncResult classes as well. Below are the base class and the inherited classes used in previous methods. 1: using System; 2: using System.Collections.Generic; 3: using System.Linq; 4: using System.Text; 5: using System.Threading; 6:  7: namespace Phare.Service 8: { 9: abstract internal class AsyncResult : IAsyncResult 10: { 11: AsyncCallback callback; 12: bool completedSynchronously; 13: bool endCalled; 14: Exception exception; 15: bool isCompleted; 16: ManualResetEvent manualResetEvent; 17: object state; 18: object thisLock; 19:  20: protected AsyncResult(AsyncCallback callback, object state) 21: { 22: this.callback = callback; 23: this.state = state; 24: this.thisLock = new object(); 25: } 26:  27: public object AsyncState 28: { 29: get 30: { 31: return state; 32: } 33: } 34:  35: public WaitHandle AsyncWaitHandle 36: { 37: get 38: { 39: if (manualResetEvent != null) 40: { 41: return manualResetEvent; 42: } 43: lock (ThisLock) 44: { 45: if (manualResetEvent == null) 46: { 47: manualResetEvent = new ManualResetEvent(isCompleted); 48: } 49: } 50: return manualResetEvent; 51: } 52: } 53:  54: public bool CompletedSynchronously 55: { 56: get 57: { 58: return completedSynchronously; 59: } 60: } 61:  62: public bool IsCompleted 63: { 64: get 65: { 66: return isCompleted; 67: } 68: } 69:  70: object ThisLock 71: { 72: get 73: { 74: return this.thisLock; 75: } 76: } 77:  78: protected static TAsyncResult End<TAsyncResult>(IAsyncResult result) 79: where TAsyncResult : AsyncResult 80: { 81: if (result == null) 82: { 83: throw new ArgumentNullException("result"); 84: } 85:  86: TAsyncResult asyncResult = result as TAsyncResult; 87:  88: if (asyncResult == null) 89: { 90: throw new ArgumentException("Invalid async result.", "result"); 91: } 92:  93: if (asyncResult.endCalled) 94: { 95: throw new InvalidOperationException("Async object already ended."); 96: } 97:  98: asyncResult.endCalled = true; 99:  100: if (!asyncResult.isCompleted) 101: { 102: asyncResult.AsyncWaitHandle.WaitOne(); 103: } 104:  105: if (asyncResult.manualResetEvent != null) 106: { 107: asyncResult.manualResetEvent.Close(); 108: } 109:  110: if (asyncResult.exception != null) 111: { 112: throw asyncResult.exception; 113: } 114:  115: return asyncResult; 116: } 117:  118: protected void Complete(bool completedSynchronously) 119: { 120: if (isCompleted) 121: { 122: throw new InvalidOperationException("This async result is already completed."); 123: } 124:  125: this.completedSynchronously = completedSynchronously; 126:  127: if (completedSynchronously) 128: { 129: this.isCompleted = true; 130: } 131: else 132: { 133: lock (ThisLock) 134: { 135: this.isCompleted = true; 136: if (this.manualResetEvent != null) 137: { 138: this.manualResetEvent.Set(); 139: } 140: } 141: } 142:  143: if (callback != null) 144: { 145: callback(this); 146: } 147: } 148:  149: protected void Complete(bool completedSynchronously, Exception exception) 150: { 151: this.exception = exception; 152: Complete(completedSynchronously); 153: } 154: } 155: } 1: using System; 2: using System.Collections.Generic; 3: using System.Linq; 4: using System.Text; 5: using System.ServiceModel.Discovery; 6: using Phare.Service; 7:  8: namespace Phare.Service 9: { 10: internal sealed class OnOnlineAnnouncementAsyncResult : AsyncResult 11: { 12: public OnOnlineAnnouncementAsyncResult(AsyncCallback callback, object state) 13: : base(callback, state) 14: { 15: this.Complete(true); 16: } 17:  18: public static void End(IAsyncResult result) 19: { 20: AsyncResult.End<OnOnlineAnnouncementAsyncResult>(result); 21: } 22:  23: } 24:  25: sealed class OnOfflineAnnouncementAsyncResult : AsyncResult 26: { 27: public OnOfflineAnnouncementAsyncResult(AsyncCallback callback, object state) 28: : base(callback, state) 29: { 30: this.Complete(true); 31: } 32:  33: public static void End(IAsyncResult result) 34: { 35: AsyncResult.End<OnOfflineAnnouncementAsyncResult>(result); 36: } 37: } 38:  39: sealed class OnFindAsyncResult : AsyncResult 40: { 41: public OnFindAsyncResult(AsyncCallback callback, object state) 42: : base(callback, state) 43: { 44: this.Complete(true); 45: } 46:  47: public static void End(IAsyncResult result) 48: { 49: AsyncResult.End<OnFindAsyncResult>(result); 50: } 51: } 52:  53: sealed class OnResolveAsyncResult : AsyncResult 54: { 55: EndpointDiscoveryMetadata matchingEndpoint; 56:  57: public OnResolveAsyncResult(EndpointDiscoveryMetadata matchingEndpoint, AsyncCallback callback, object state) 58: : base(callback, state) 59: { 60: this.matchingEndpoint = matchingEndpoint; 61: this.Complete(true); 62: } 63:  64: public static EndpointDiscoveryMetadata End(IAsyncResult result) 65: { 66: OnResolveAsyncResult thisPtr = AsyncResult.End<OnResolveAsyncResult>(result); 67: return thisPtr.matchingEndpoint; 68: } 69: } 70: } Now we have finished the discovery service. The next step is to host it. The discovery service is a standard WCF service. So we can use ServiceHost on a console application, windows service, or in IIS as usual. The following code is how to host the discovery service we had just created in a console application. 1: static void Main(string[] args) 2: { 3: using (var host = new ServiceHost(new ManagedProxyDiscoveryService())) 4: { 5: host.Opened += (sender, e) => 6: { 7: host.Description.Endpoints.All((ep) => 8: { 9: Console.WriteLine(ep.ListenUri); 10: return true; 11: }); 12: }; 13:  14: try 15: { 16: // retrieve the announcement, probe endpoint and binding from configuration 17: var announcementEndpointAddress = new EndpointAddress(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["announcementEndpointAddress"]); 18: var probeEndpointAddress = new EndpointAddress(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["probeEndpointAddress"]); 19: var binding = Activator.CreateInstance(Type.GetType(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["bindingType"], true, true)) as Binding; 20: var announcementEndpoint = new AnnouncementEndpoint(binding, announcementEndpointAddress); 21: var probeEndpoint = new DiscoveryEndpoint(binding, probeEndpointAddress); 22: probeEndpoint.IsSystemEndpoint = false; 23: // append the service endpoint for announcement and probe 24: host.AddServiceEndpoint(announcementEndpoint); 25: host.AddServiceEndpoint(probeEndpoint); 26:  27: host.Open(); 28:  29: Console.WriteLine("Press any key to exit."); 30: Console.ReadKey(); 31: } 32: catch (Exception ex) 33: { 34: Console.WriteLine(ex.ToString()); 35: } 36: } 37:  38: Console.WriteLine("Done."); 39: Console.ReadKey(); 40: } What we need to notice is that, the discovery service needs two endpoints for announcement and probe. In this example I just retrieve them from the configuration file. I also specified the binding of these two endpoints in configuration file as well. 1: <?xml version="1.0"?> 2: <configuration> 3: <startup> 4: <supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.0"/> 5: </startup> 6: <appSettings> 7: <add key="announcementEndpointAddress" value="net.tcp://localhost:10010/announcement"/> 8: <add key="probeEndpointAddress" value="net.tcp://localhost:10011/probe"/> 9: <add key="bindingType" value="System.ServiceModel.NetTcpBinding, System.ServiceModel, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/> 10: </appSettings> 11: </configuration> And this is the console screen when I ran my discovery service. As you can see there are two endpoints listening for announcement message and probe message.   Discoverable Service and Client Next, let’s create a WCF service that is discoverable, which means it can be found by the discovery service. To do so, we need to let the service send the online announcement message to the discovery service, as well as offline message before it shutdown. Just create a simple service which can make the incoming string to upper. The service contract and implementation would be like this. 1: [ServiceContract] 2: public interface IStringService 3: { 4: [OperationContract] 5: string ToUpper(string content); 6: } 1: public class StringService : IStringService 2: { 3: public string ToUpper(string content) 4: { 5: return content.ToUpper(); 6: } 7: } Then host this service in the console application. In order to make the discovery service easy to be tested the service address will be changed each time it’s started. 1: static void Main(string[] args) 2: { 3: var baseAddress = new Uri(string.Format("net.tcp://localhost:11001/stringservice/{0}/", Guid.NewGuid().ToString())); 4:  5: using (var host = new ServiceHost(typeof(StringService), baseAddress)) 6: { 7: host.Opened += (sender, e) => 8: { 9: Console.WriteLine("Service opened at {0}", host.Description.Endpoints.First().ListenUri); 10: }; 11:  12: host.AddServiceEndpoint(typeof(IStringService), new NetTcpBinding(), string.Empty); 13:  14: host.Open(); 15:  16: Console.WriteLine("Press any key to exit."); 17: Console.ReadKey(); 18: } 19: } Currently this service is NOT discoverable. We need to add a special service behavior so that it could send the online and offline message to the discovery service announcement endpoint when the host is opened and closed. WCF 4.0 introduced a service behavior named ServiceDiscoveryBehavior. When we specified the announcement endpoint address and appended it to the service behaviors this service will be discoverable. 1: var announcementAddress = new EndpointAddress(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["announcementEndpointAddress"]); 2: var announcementBinding = Activator.CreateInstance(Type.GetType(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["bindingType"], true, true)) as Binding; 3: var announcementEndpoint = new AnnouncementEndpoint(announcementBinding, announcementAddress); 4: var discoveryBehavior = new ServiceDiscoveryBehavior(); 5: discoveryBehavior.AnnouncementEndpoints.Add(announcementEndpoint); 6: host.Description.Behaviors.Add(discoveryBehavior); The ServiceDiscoveryBehavior utilizes the service extension and channel dispatcher to implement the online and offline announcement logic. In short, it injected the channel open and close procedure and send the online and offline message to the announcement endpoint.   On client side, when we have the discovery service, a client can invoke a service without knowing its endpoint. WCF discovery assembly provides a class named DiscoveryClient, which can be used to find the proper service endpoint by passing the criteria. In the code below I initialized the DiscoveryClient, specified the discovery service probe endpoint address. Then I created the find criteria by specifying the service contract I wanted to use and invoke the Find method. This will send the probe message to the discovery service and it will find the endpoints back to me. The discovery service will return all endpoints that matches the find criteria, which means in the result of the find method there might be more than one endpoints. In this example I just returned the first matched one back. In the next post I will show how to extend our discovery service to make it work like a service load balancer. 1: static EndpointAddress FindServiceEndpoint() 2: { 3: var probeEndpointAddress = new EndpointAddress(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["probeEndpointAddress"]); 4: var probeBinding = Activator.CreateInstance(Type.GetType(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["bindingType"], true, true)) as Binding; 5: var discoveryEndpoint = new DiscoveryEndpoint(probeBinding, probeEndpointAddress); 6:  7: EndpointAddress address = null; 8: FindResponse result = null; 9: using (var discoveryClient = new DiscoveryClient(discoveryEndpoint)) 10: { 11: result = discoveryClient.Find(new FindCriteria(typeof(IStringService))); 12: } 13:  14: if (result != null && result.Endpoints.Any()) 15: { 16: var endpointMetadata = result.Endpoints.First(); 17: address = endpointMetadata.Address; 18: } 19: return address; 20: } Once we probed the discovery service we will receive the endpoint. So in the client code we can created the channel factory from the endpoint and binding, and invoke to the service. When creating the client side channel factory we need to make sure that the client side binding should be the same as the service side. WCF discovery service can be used to find the endpoint for a service contract, but the binding is NOT included. This is because the binding was not in the WS-Discovery specification. In the next post I will demonstrate how to add the binding information into the discovery service. At that moment the client don’t need to create the binding by itself. Instead it will use the binding received from the discovery service. 1: static void Main(string[] args) 2: { 3: Console.WriteLine("Say something..."); 4: var content = Console.ReadLine(); 5: while (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(content)) 6: { 7: Console.WriteLine("Finding the service endpoint..."); 8: var address = FindServiceEndpoint(); 9: if (address == null) 10: { 11: Console.WriteLine("There is no endpoint matches the criteria."); 12: } 13: else 14: { 15: Console.WriteLine("Found the endpoint {0}", address.Uri); 16:  17: var factory = new ChannelFactory<IStringService>(new NetTcpBinding(), address); 18: factory.Opened += (sender, e) => 19: { 20: Console.WriteLine("Connecting to {0}.", factory.Endpoint.ListenUri); 21: }; 22: var proxy = factory.CreateChannel(); 23: using (proxy as IDisposable) 24: { 25: Console.WriteLine("ToUpper: {0} => {1}", content, proxy.ToUpper(content)); 26: } 27: } 28:  29: Console.WriteLine("Say something..."); 30: content = Console.ReadLine(); 31: } 32: } Similarly, the discovery service probe endpoint and binding were defined in the configuration file. 1: <?xml version="1.0"?> 2: <configuration> 3: <startup> 4: <supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.0"/> 5: </startup> 6: <appSettings> 7: <add key="announcementEndpointAddress" value="net.tcp://localhost:10010/announcement"/> 8: <add key="probeEndpointAddress" value="net.tcp://localhost:10011/probe"/> 9: <add key="bindingType" value="System.ServiceModel.NetTcpBinding, System.ServiceModel, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/> 10: </appSettings> 11: </configuration> OK, now let’s have a test. Firstly start the discovery service, and then start our discoverable service. When it started it will announced to the discovery service and registered its endpoint into the repository, which is the local dictionary. And then start the client and type something. As you can see the client asked the discovery service for the endpoint and then establish the connection to the discoverable service. And more interesting, do NOT close the client console but terminate the discoverable service but press the enter key. This will make the service send the offline message to the discovery service. Then start the discoverable service again. Since we made it use a different address each time it started, currently it should be hosted on another address. If we enter something in the client we could see that it asked the discovery service and retrieve the new endpoint, and connect the the service.   Summary In this post I discussed the benefit of using the discovery service and the procedures of service announcement and probe. I also demonstrated how to leverage the WCF Discovery feature in WCF 4.0 to build a simple managed discovery service. For test purpose, in this example I used the in memory dictionary as the discovery endpoint metadata repository. And when finding I also just return the first matched endpoint back. I also hard coded the bindings between the discoverable service and the client. In next post I will show you how to solve the problem mentioned above, as well as some additional feature for production usage. • Building applications with WCF - Intro

    - by skjagini
    I am going to write series of articles using Windows Communication Framework (WCF) to develop client and server applications and this is the first part of that series. What is WCF As Juwal puts in his Programming WCF book, WCF provides an SDK for developing and deploying services on Windows, provides runtime environment to expose CLR types as services and consume services as CLR types. Building services with WCF is incredibly easy and it’s implementation provides a set of industry standards and off the shelf plumbing including service hosting, instance management, reliability, transaction management, security etc such that it greatly increases productivity Scenario: Lets consider a typical bank customer trying to create an account, deposit amount and transfer funds between accounts, i.e. checking and savings. To make it interesting, we are going to divide the functionality into multiple services and each of them working with database directly. We will run test cases with and without transactional support across services. In this post we will build contracts, services, data access layer, unit tests to verify end to end communication etc, nothing big stuff here and we dig into other features of the WCF in subsequent posts with incremental changes. In any distributed architecture we have two pieces i.e. services and clients. Services as the name implies provide functionality to execute various pieces of business logic on the server, and clients providing interaction to the end user. Services can be built with Web Services or with WCF. Service built on WCF have the advantage of binding independent, i.e. can run against TCP and HTTP protocol without any significant changes to the code. Solution Services Profile: For creating a new bank customer, getting details about existing customer ProfileContract ProfileService Checking Account: To get checking account balance, deposit or withdraw amount CheckingAccountContract CheckingAccountService Savings Account: To get savings account balance, deposit or withdraw amount SavingsAccountContract SavingsAccountService ServiceHost: To host services, i.e. running the services at particular address, binding and contract where client can connect to Client: Helps end user to use services like creating account and amount transfer between the accounts BankDAL: Data access layer to work with database     BankDAL It’s no brainer not to use an ORM as many matured products are available currently in market including Linq2Sql, Entity Framework (EF), LLblGenPro etc. For this exercise I am going to use Entity Framework 4.0, CTP 5 with code first approach. There are two approaches when working with data, data driven and code driven. In data driven we start by designing tables and their constrains in database and generate entities in code while in code driven (code first) approach entities are defined in code and the metadata generated from the entities is used by the EF to create tables and table constrains. In previous versions the entity classes had  to derive from EF specific base classes. In EF 4 it  is not required to derive from any EF classes, the entities are not only persistence ignorant but also enable full test driven development using mock frameworks.  Application consists of 3 entities, Customer entity which contains Customer details; CheckingAccount and SavingsAccount to hold the respective account balance. We could have introduced an Account base class for CheckingAccount and SavingsAccount which is certainly possible with EF mappings but to keep it simple we are just going to follow 1 –1 mapping between entity and table mappings. Lets start out by defining a class called Customer which will be mapped to Customer table, observe that the class is simply a plain old clr object (POCO) and has no reference to EF at all. using System;   namespace BankDAL.Model { public class Customer { public int Id { get; set; } public string FullName { get; set; } public string Address { get; set; } public DateTime DateOfBirth { get; set; } } }   In order to inform EF about the Customer entity we have to define a database context with properties of type DbSet<> for every POCO which needs to be mapped to a table in database. EF uses convention over configuration to generate the metadata resulting in much less configuration. using System.Data.Entity;   namespace BankDAL.Model { public class BankDbContext: DbContext { public DbSet<Customer> Customers { get; set; } } }   Entity constrains can be defined through attributes on Customer class or using fluent syntax (no need to muscle with xml files), CustomerConfiguration class. By defining constrains in a separate class we can maintain clean POCOs without corrupting entity classes with database specific information.   using System; using System.Data.Entity.ModelConfiguration;   namespace BankDAL.Model { public class CustomerConfiguration: EntityTypeConfiguration<Customer> { public CustomerConfiguration() { Initialize(); }   private void Initialize() { //Setting the Primary Key this.HasKey(e => e.Id);   //Setting required fields this.HasRequired(e => e.FullName); this.HasRequired(e => e.Address); //Todo: Can't create required constraint as DateOfBirth is not reference type, research it //this.HasRequired(e => e.DateOfBirth); } } }   Any queries executed against Customers property in BankDbContext are executed against Cusomers table. By convention EF looks for connection string with key of BankDbContext when working with the context.   We are going to define a helper class to work with Customer entity with methods for querying, adding new entity etc and these are known as repository classes, i.e., CustomerRepository   using System; using System.Data.Entity; using System.Linq; using BankDAL.Model;   namespace BankDAL.Repositories { public class CustomerRepository { private readonly IDbSet<Customer> _customers;   public CustomerRepository(BankDbContext bankDbContext) { if (bankDbContext == null) throw new ArgumentNullException(); _customers = bankDbContext.Customers; }   public IQueryable<Customer> Query() { return _customers; }   public void Add(Customer customer) { _customers.Add(customer); } } }   From the above code it is observable that the Query methods returns customers as IQueryable i.e. customers are retrieved only when actually used i.e. iterated. Returning as IQueryable also allows to execute filtering and joining statements from business logic using lamba expressions without cluttering the data access layer with tens of methods.   Our CheckingAccountRepository and SavingsAccountRepository look very similar to each other using System; using System.Data.Entity; using System.Linq; using BankDAL.Model;   namespace BankDAL.Repositories { public class CheckingAccountRepository { private readonly IDbSet<CheckingAccount> _checkingAccounts;   public CheckingAccountRepository(BankDbContext bankDbContext) { if (bankDbContext == null) throw new ArgumentNullException(); _checkingAccounts = bankDbContext.CheckingAccounts; }   public IQueryable<CheckingAccount> Query() { return _checkingAccounts; }   public void Add(CheckingAccount account) { _checkingAccounts.Add(account); }   public IQueryable<CheckingAccount> GetAccount(int customerId) { return (from act in _checkingAccounts where act.CustomerId == customerId select act); }   } } The repository classes look very similar to each other for Query and Add methods, with the help of C# generics and implementing repository pattern (Martin Fowler) we can reduce the repeated code. Jarod from ElegantCode has posted an article on how to use repository pattern with EF which we will implement in the subsequent articles along with WCF Unity life time managers by Drew Contracts It is very easy to follow contract first approach with WCF, define the interface and append ServiceContract, OperationContract attributes. IProfile contract exposes functionality for creating customer and getting customer details.   using System; using System.ServiceModel; using BankDAL.Model;   namespace ProfileContract { [ServiceContract] public interface IProfile { [OperationContract] Customer CreateCustomer(string customerName, string address, DateTime dateOfBirth);   [OperationContract] Customer GetCustomer(int id);   } }   ICheckingAccount contract exposes functionality for working with checking account, i.e., getting balance, deposit and withdraw of amount. Similarly Checking service implements ICheckingAccount contract using CheckingAccountRepository, notice that we are throwing overdraft exception if the balance falls by zero. WCF has it’s own way of raising exceptions using fault contracts which will be explained in the subsequent articles. SavingsAccountService is similar to CheckingAccountService. using System; using System.Linq; using System.ServiceModel; using BankDAL.Model; using BankDAL.Repositories; using CheckingAccountContract;   namespace CheckingAccountService { [ServiceBehavior(IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults = true)] public class Checking:ICheckingAccount { public decimal? The services can be exposed either through the code or configuration file, configuration file is preferred as it allows run time changes to service behavior even after deployment. We have 3 services and for each of the service you need to define name (the class that implements the service with fully qualified namespace) and endpoint known as ABC, i.e. address, binding and contract. We are using netTcpBinding and have defined the base address with for each of the contracts .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } <system.serviceModel> <services> <service name="ProfileService.Profile"> <endpoint binding="netTcpBinding" contract="ProfileContract.IProfile"/> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="net.tcp://localhost:1000/Profile"/> </baseAddresses> </host> </service> <service name="CheckingAccountService.Checking"> <endpoint binding="netTcpBinding" contract="CheckingAccountContract.ICheckingAccount"/> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="net.tcp://localhost:1000/Checking"/> </baseAddresses> </host> </service> <service name="SavingsAccountService.Savings"> <endpoint binding="netTcpBinding" contract="SavingsAccountContract.ISavingsAccount"/> <host> <baseAddresses> <add baseAddress="net.tcp://localhost:1000/Savings"/> </baseAddresses> </host> </service> </services> </system.serviceModel> Have to open the services by creating service host which will handle the incoming requests from clients.   using System;   namespace ServiceHost { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { CreateHosts(); Console.ReadLine(); }   private static void CreateHosts() { CreateHost(typeof(ProfileService.Profile),"Profile Service"); CreateHost(typeof(SavingsAccountService.Savings), "Savings Account Service"); CreateHost(typeof(CheckingAccountService.Checking), "Checking Account Service"); }   private static void CreateHost(Type type, string hostDescription) { System.ServiceModel.ServiceHost host = new System.ServiceModel.ServiceHost(type); host.Open();   if (host.ChannelDispatchers != null && host.ChannelDispatchers.Count != 0 && host.ChannelDispatchers[0].Listener != null) Console.WriteLine("Started: " + host.ChannelDispatchers[0].Listener.Uri); else Console.WriteLine("Failed to start:" + hostDescription); } } } BankClient    The client has no knowledge about service business logic other than the functionality it exposes through the contract, end points and a proxy to work against. The endpoint data and server proxy can be generated by right clicking on the project reference and choosing ‘Add Service Reference’ and entering the service end point address. Or if you have access to source, you can manually reference contract dlls and update clients configuration file to point to the service end point if the server and client happens to be being built using .Net framework. One of the pros with the manual approach is you don’t have to work against messy code generated files.   <system.serviceModel> <client> <endpoint name="tcpProfile" address="net.tcp://localhost:1000/Profile" binding="netTcpBinding" contract="ProfileContract.IProfile"/> <endpoint name="tcpCheckingAccount" address="net.tcp://localhost:1000/Checking" binding="netTcpBinding" contract="CheckingAccountContract.ICheckingAccount"/> <endpoint name="tcpSavingsAccount" address="net.tcp://localhost:1000/Savings" binding="netTcpBinding" contract="SavingsAccountContract.ISavingsAccount"/>   </client> </system.serviceModel> The client uses a façade to connect to the services   using System.ServiceModel; using CheckingAccountContract; using ProfileContract; using SavingsAccountContract;   namespace Client { public class ProxyFacade { public static IProfile ProfileProxy() { return (new ChannelFactory<IProfile>("tcpProfile")).CreateChannel(); }   public static ICheckingAccount CheckingAccountProxy() { return (new ChannelFactory<ICheckingAccount>("tcpCheckingAccount")) .CreateChannel(); }   public static ISavingsAccount SavingsAccountProxy() { return (new ChannelFactory<ISavingsAccount>("tcpSavingsAccount")) .CreateChannel(); }   } }   With that in place, lets get our unit tests going   using System; using System.Diagnostics; using BankDAL.Model; using NUnit.Framework; using ProfileContract;   namespace Client { [TestFixture] public class Tests { private void TransferFundsFromSavingsToCheckingAccount(int customerId, decimal amount) { ProxyFacade.CheckingAccountProxy().DepositAmount(customerId, amount); }   Assert.AreEqual(110, ProxyFacade.CheckingAccountProxy().GetCheckingAccountBalance(customerId)); Assert.AreEqual(20, ProxyFacade.SavingsAccountProxy().GetSavingsAccountBalance(customerId)); } } }   We are creating a new instance of the channel for every operation, we will look into instance management and how creating a new instance of channel affects it in subsequent articles. The first two test cases deals with creation of Customer, deposit and withdraw of month between accounts. The last case, FundTransferWithOverDraftTest() is interesting. Customer starts with depositing $100 in SavingsAccount followed by transfer of $80 in to checking account resulting in $20 in savings account.  Customer then initiates $30 transfer from Savings to Checking resulting in overdraft exception on Savings with $30 being deposited to Checking. As we are not running both the requests in transactions the customer ends up with more amount than what he started with $100. In subsequent posts we will look into transactions handling.  Make sure the ServiceHost project is set as start up project and start the solution. Run the test cases either from NUnit client or TestDriven.Net/Resharper which ever is your favorite tool. Make sure you have updated the data base connection string in the ServiceHost config file to point to your local database

  • System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse request failed with HTTP status 40

    - by John Galt
    I am trying to make some enhancements to a production web app. After quite a bit of unit testing on my WinXP IIS 5.1 development machine, everything works on my localhost so I used the Visual Studio 2008 PUBLISH dialog on my Dev PC to push the following projects to a staging server: the primary web app the "primary" webservice (the home page tries to invoke this WS) a "secondary" webservice (not yet a problem because home page does not invoke this WS) I get the following when I try to browse to the home page of the web app typing this into my browser: link text Server Error in '/zVersion2' Application. The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request.Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found. Source Error: An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below. The staging server is Win Server 2003 ServicePack 2 running IIS 6.0. When I published the primary site and the 2 webservices on the staging server called MOJITO I created the physical directories for each on the D drive. Then using INETMGR, I configured the following virtual directories: zVersion2 zVersion2wsSQL zVersion2wsEmergency All of the above are configured to use a new application pool I setup and named zVersion2aspNet20. The default web site for this machine MOJITO is configured to use ASP.NET 1.1 and the IP address is set to (All Unassigned). The production versions of the latter 2 webservices run on the MOJITO machine (named ZipeeeService and EmergencyService respectively). Can my staging versions of the above webservices (named zVersion2wsSQL and zVersion2wsEmergency respectively) co-exist on the same web server with the same IP address? Please note that when I test the zVersion2wsSQL webservice independently (from INETMGR right-mouse and click Browse) it works as expected (i.e. presenting all the methods of the webservice) like this snippet: GetMessageByType MessageName="Get_x0020_Message_x0020_By_x0020_Type" I can test this webmethod by clicking on it and it presents the Test dialog (because it takes a simple datatype and I am invoking it on localhost (i.e. MOJITO): **Get Message By Type** **Test** To test the operation using the HTTP POST protocol, click the 'Invoke' button. Parameter Value iMsgType: _______ [INVOKE button] SOAP 1.1 ....etc. I fear I may have rambled with too much information so I will stop but I hope someone can help me as I cannot understand why this request results in a "not found". Thanks.

  • I created a custom (WPF) DataGridBoundColumn and get unexpected behaviour, what am I missing?

    - by aspic
    Hi, I am using a DataGrid (from Microsoft.Windows.Controls.DataGrid) to display items on and on this DataGrid I use a custom Column which extends DataGridBoundColumn. I have bound an ObservableCollection to the ItemSource of the DataGrid. Conversation is one of my own custom datatypes which a (among other things) has a boolean called active. I bound this boolean to the DataGrid as follows: DataGridActiveImageColumn test = new DataGridActiveImageColumn(); test.Header = "Active"; Binding binding1 = new Binding("Active"); test.Binding = binding1; ConversationsDataGrid.Columns.Add(test); My custom DataGridBoundColumn DataGridActiveImageColumn overrides the GenerateElement method to let it return an Image depending on whether the conversation it is called for is active or not. The code for this is: namespace Microsoft.Windows.Controls { class DataGridActiveImageColumn : DataGridBoundColumn { protected override FrameworkElement GenerateElement(DataGridCell cell, object dataItem) { // Create Image Element Image myImage = new Image(); myImage.Width = 10; bool active=false; if (dataItem is Conversation) { Conversation c = (Conversation)dataItem; active = c.Active; } BitmapImage myBitmapImage = new BitmapImage(); // BitmapImage.UriSource must be in a BeginInit/EndInit block myBitmapImage.BeginInit(); if (active) { myBitmapImage.UriSource = new Uri(@"images\active.png", UriKind.Relative); } else { myBitmapImage.UriSource = new Uri(@"images\inactive.png", UriKind.Relative); } // To save significant application memory, set the DecodePixelWidth or // DecodePixelHeight of the BitmapImage value of the image source to the desired // height or width of the rendered image. If you don't do this, the application will // cache the image as though it were rendered as its normal size rather then just // the size that is displayed. // Note: In order to preserve aspect ratio, set DecodePixelWidth // or DecodePixelHeight but not both. myBitmapImage.DecodePixelWidth = 10; myBitmapImage.EndInit(); myImage.Source = myBitmapImage; return myImage; } protected override FrameworkElement GenerateEditingElement(DataGridCell cell, object dataItem) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } } All this works as expected, and when during the running of the program the active boolean of conversations changes, this is automatically updated in the DataGrid. However: When there are more entries on the DataGrid then fit at any one time (and vertical scrollbars are added) the behavior with respect to the column for all the conversations is strange. The conversations that are initially loaded are correct, but when I use the scrollbar of the DataGrid conversations that enter the view seems to have a random status (although more inactive than active ones, which corresponds to the actual ratio). When I scroll back up, the active images of the Conversations initially shown (before scrolling) are not correct anymore as well. When I replace my custom DataGridBoundColumn class with (for instance) DataGridCheckBoxColumn it works as intended so my extension of the DataGridBoundColumn class must be incomplete. Personally I think it has something to do with the following: From the MSDN page on the GenerateElement method (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.controls.datagridcolumn.generateelement%28VS.95%29.aspx): Return Value Type: System.Windows. FrameworkElement A new, read-only element that is bound to the column's Binding property value. I do return a new element (the image) but it is not bound to anything. I am not quite sure what I should do. Should I bind the Image to something? To what exactly? And why? (I have been experimenting, but was unsuccessful thus far, hence this post) Thanks in advance.

  • Android: get current location from best available provider

    - by AP257
    Hi all, I have some Android code that needs to get the best available location QUICKLY, from GPS, network or whatever is available. Accuracy is less important than speed. Getting the best available location is surely a really standard task. Yet I can't find any code to demonstrate it. The Android location code expects you to specify criteria, register for updates, and wait - which is fine if you have detailed criteria and don't mind waiting around. But my app needs to work a bit more like the Maps app does when it first locates you - work from any available provider, and just check the location isn't wildly out of date or null. I've attempted to roll my own code to do this, but am having problems. (It's inside an IntentService where an upload happens, if that makes any difference. I've included all the code for info.) What's wrong with this code? @Override protected void onHandleIntent(Intent arg0) { testProviders(); doUpload(); } private boolean doUpload() { int j = 0; // check if we have accurate location data yet - wait up to 30 seconds while (j < 30) { if ((latString == "") || (lonString == "")) { Log.d(LOG_TAG, "latlng null"); Thread.sleep(1000); j++; } else { Log.d(LOG_TAG, "found lat " + latString + " and lon " + lonString); break; } //do the upload here anyway, with or without location data //[code removed for brevity] } public boolean testProviders() { Log.e(LOG_TAG, "testProviders"); String location_context = Context.LOCATION_SERVICE; locationmanager = (LocationManager) getSystemService(location_context); List<String> providers = locationmanager.getProviders(true); for (String provider : providers) { Log.e(LOG_TAG, "registering provider " + provider); listener = new LocationListener() { public void onLocationChanged(Location location) { // keep checking the location - until we have // what we need //if (!checkLoc(location)) { Log.e(LOG_TAG, "onLocationChanged"); locationDetermined = checkLoc(location); //} } public void onProviderDisabled(String provider) { } public void onProviderEnabled(String provider) { } public void onStatusChanged(String provider, int status, Bundle extras) { } }; locationmanager.requestLocationUpdates(provider, 0, 0, listener); } Log.e(LOG_TAG, "getting updates"); return true; } private boolean checkLoc(Location location) { float tempAccuracy = location.getAccuracy(); int locAccuracy = (int) tempAccuracy; Log.d(LOG_TAG, "locAccuracy = " + locAccuracy); if ((locAccuracy != 0) && (locAccuracy < LOCATION_ACCURACY)) { latitude = location.getLatitude(); longitude = location.getLongitude(); latString = latitude.toString(); lonString = longitude.toString(); return true; } return false; } public void removeListeners() { // Log.e(LOG_TAG, "removeListeners"); if ((locationmanager != null) && (listener != null)) { locationmanager.removeUpdates(listener); } locationmanager = null; // Log.d(LOG_TAG, "Removed " + listener.toString()); } @Override public void onDestroy() { super.onDestroy(); removeListeners(); } Unfortunately, this finds the network provider, but only ever outputs latlng null 30 times - it never seems to get a location at all. I never even get a log statement of locationChanged. It's funny, because from ddms I can see output like: NetworkLocationProvider: onCellLocationChanged [305,8580] NetworkLocationProvider: getNetworkLocation(): returning cache location with accuracy 75.0 seeming to suggest that the network provider does have some location info after all, I'm just not getting at it. Can anyone help? I think working example code would be a useful resource for the Android/StackOverflow community.

  • game state singleton cocos2d, initWithEncoder always returns null

    Hi, I'm trying to write a basic test "game state" singleton in cocos2d, but for some reason upon loading the app, initWithCoder is never called. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks. Here's my singleton GameState.h: #import "cocos2d.h" @interface GameState : NSObject <NSCoding> { NSInteger level, score; Boolean seenInstructions; } @property (readwrite) NSInteger level; @property (readwrite) NSInteger score; @property (readwrite) Boolean seenInstructions; +(GameState *) sharedState; +(void) loadState; +(void) saveState; @end ... and GameState.m: #import "GameState.h" #import "Constants.h" @implementation GameState static GameState *sharedState = nil; @synthesize level, score, seenInstructions; -(void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } -(id)init { if(!(self = [super init])) return nil; level = 1; score = 0; seenInstructions = NO; return self; } +(void)loadState { @synchronized([GameState class]) { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *saveFile = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:kSaveFileName]; Boolean saveFileExists = [[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:saveFile]; if(!sharedState) { sharedState = [GameState sharedState]; } if(saveFileExists == YES) { [sharedState release]; sharedState = [[NSKeyedUnarchiver unarchiveObjectWithFile:saveFile] retain]; } // at this point, sharedState is null, saveFileExists is 1 if(sharedState == nil) { // this always occurs CCLOG(@"Couldn't load game state, so initialized with defaults"); sharedState = [self sharedState]; } } } +(void)saveState { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *saveFile = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:kSaveFileName]; [NSKeyedArchiver archiveRootObject:[GameState sharedState] toFile:saveFile]; } +(GameState *)sharedState { @synchronized([GameState class]) { if(!sharedState) { [[GameState alloc] init]; } return sharedState; } return nil; } +(id)alloc { @synchronized([GameState class]) { NSAssert(sharedState == nil, @"Attempted to allocate a second instance of a singleton."); sharedState = [super alloc]; return sharedState; } return nil; } +(id)allocWithZone:(NSZone *)zone { @synchronized([GameState class]) { if(!sharedState) { sharedState = [super allocWithZone:zone]; return sharedState; } } return nil; } ... -(void)encodeWithCoder:(NSCoder *)coder { [coder encodeInt:level forKey:@"level"]; [coder encodeInt:score forKey:@"score"]; [coder encodeBool:seenInstructions forKey:@"seenInstructions"]; } -(id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder *)coder { CCLOG(@"initWithCoder called"); self = [super init]; if(self != nil) { CCLOG(@"initWithCoder self exists"); level = [coder decodeIntForKey:@"level"]; score = [coder decodeIntForKey:@"score"]; seenInstructions = [coder decodeBoolForKey:@"seenInstructions"]; } return self; } @end ... I'm saving the state on app exit, like this: - (void)applicationWillTerminate:(UIApplication *)application { [GameState saveState]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] end]; } ... and loading the state when the app finishes loading, like this: - (BOOL) application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { ... [GameState loadState]; ... } I've tried moving around where I call loadState too, for example in my main CCScene, but that didn't seem to work either. Thanks again in advance.

  • Using Xlib via JNA to move a window

    - by rob
    I'm using JNA to manipulate application windows on Linux by sending Xlib messages but can't seem to move a window. My original implementation executed wmctrl on the shell to move the windows and that successfully moved the windows. Unfortunately, there's a noticeable amount of overhead associated with calling shell programs from Java, so now I'm trying to make direct API calls using JNA. I'm using the X11 example available from the JNA website and can successfully do a few tricks, such as enumerating the window IDs and reading window properties, so I know JNA+Xlib is at least partially working. First I tried moving the windows directly using XMoveWindow() but the window manager was apparently blocking those calls. I ran across a thread that suggested I needed to send a client message using XSendMessage(), so I've done that below, but apparently XSendMessage() is failing because the window doesn't move and I get a return value of 0. I'm guessing I omitted something obvious, but can't quite figure it out. Any suggestions? Note that, for the purposes of this example, the main method has a window ID hard-coded. This is the window ID of the window I'm trying to move (obtained using wmctrl -l on the console). import com.sun.jna.NativeLong; import com.sun.jna.Pointer; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.Atom; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.AtomByReference; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.Display; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.Window; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.WindowByReference; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.XEvent; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.XTextProperty; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.XWindowAttributes; import com.sun.jna.ptr.IntByReference; import com.sun.jna.ptr.NativeLongByReference; import com.sun.jna.ptr.PointerByReference; private static final int FALSE = 0; /** C-style boolean "false" */ private static final int TRUE = 1; /** C-style boolean "true" */ public static void main(String[] args) { setWindowPos(new Window(0x01300007), 100, 100, 600, 400); // update the Window constructor with the appropriate ID given by wmctrl -l } public static boolean setWindowPos(Window window, int x, int y, int w, int h) { final X11 x11 = X11.INSTANCE; Display display = x11.XOpenDisplay(null); NativeLong mask = new NativeLong(X11.SubstructureRedirectMask | X11.SubstructureNotifyMask | X11.ResizeRedirectMask); XEvent event = new XEvent(); String msg = "_NET_MOVERESIZE_WINDOW"; //$NON-NLS-1$ long grflags = 0l; // use the default gravity of the window if (x != -1) grflags |= (1 << 8); if (y != -1) grflags |= (1 << 9); if (w != -1) grflags |= (1 << 10); if (h != -1) grflags |= (1 << 11); event.xclient.type = X11.ClientMessage; event.xclient.serial = new NativeLong(0l); event.xclient.send_event = TRUE; event.xclient.message_type = x11.XInternAtom(display, msg, false); event.xclient.window = window; event.xclient.format = 32; event.xclient.data.l[0] = new NativeLong(grflags); // gravity flags event.xclient.data.l[1] = new NativeLong(x); event.xclient.data.l[2] = new NativeLong(y); event.xclient.data.l[3] = new NativeLong(w); event.xclient.data.l[4] = new NativeLong(h); int status = x11.XSendEvent(display, x11.XDefaultRootWindow(display), FALSE, mask, event); x11.XFlush(display); // need to XFlush if we're not reading X events if (status == 0) { // 0 indicates XSendEvent failed logger.error("setWindowPos: XSendEvent failed (" + msg + ")"); //$NON-NLS-1$ return false; } return true; }

  • Delphi - threads and FindFirst function

    - by radu-barbu
    Hi, I'm encountering a big problem when i'm trying to make a recursive search function inside a thread (using delphi 7) bellow is the code: TParcFicDir = class(TThread) private several variables.. protected procedure Execute; override; public constructor Create(CreateSuspended: Boolean); constructor TParcFicDir.Create(CreateSuspended: Boolean); begin inherited Create(CreateSuspended); end; procedure TParcFicDir.Execute; begin try FindFiles(FStartDir,FMask);//'c:\' and '*.*' except on e:Exception do end; end; procedure TParcFicDir.FindFiles(StartDir, FileMask: string); var wTmp : string; f:TextFile; wTempSR:TSearchRec; function Search(StartDir, FileMask: string): string; var SR : TSearchRec; IsFound : Boolean; files : integer; dirs : integer; t : string; begin try files := 0; dirs := 0; if StartDir[length(StartDir)] <> '\' then StartDir := StartDir + '\'; try IsFound := (FindFirst(StartDir + '*.*', faAnyFile, SR) = 0);// here the thread gets interrupted except on e: Exception do end; while IsFound do begin if (SR.Name <> '.') and (SR.Name <> '..') then if ((SR.Attr and faDirectory) <> 0) then if FScanDirs then begin inc(dirs); t := Search(StartDir + SR.Name, FileMask); try files := files + strtoint(copy((t), 0, pos('#', t) - 1));//old code, don't take on calcul; Delete(t, 1, pos('#', t)); dirs := dirs + strtoint(t); except on e: Exception do end; begin t := StartDir + SR.Name; wTmp := t; wtmp := ''; Inc(FDirNo); writeln(f,t); inc(filno); end; end else if ScanFiles then begin inc(filno); inc(files); end; IsFound := FindNext(SR) = 0; end; Result := IntToStr(files) + '#' + IntToStr(dirs); sysutils.FindClose(SR); except on e: Exception do end; end; begin filno := 0; try try if trim(FPathFileTmp)<>'' then AssignFile(f, FPathFileTmp+'Temp.bak') else AssignFile(f,ExtractFileDir(GetDllName)+'\Temp.bak'); Rewrite(f); Search(StartDir, FileMask); if StartDir[length(StartDir)] = '\' then delete(StartDir, length(StartDir), 1); wTmp := StartDir; wTmp := ''; if FindFirst(StartDir, faDirectory, wTempSR) = 0 then writeln(f); writeln(f); CloseFile(f); except on e: Exception do end; finally end; end; ok, probably the code is a little messed up, but i don't understand why the thread ends at 'findfirst' part....i googled it, no results. any help will be appreciated! Thanks in advance

I don´t need a loading progress I need a song progress status bar. Canbd anybody help me? Thanks. UPDATE: Theres is the code. var musicReq: URLRequest; var thumbReq: URLRequest; var music:Sound = new Sound(); var sndC:SoundChannel; var currentSnd:Sound = music; var position:Number; var currentIndex:Number = 0; var songPaused:Boolean; var songStopped:Boolean; var lineClr:uint; var changeClr:Boolean; var xml:XML; var songList:XMLList; var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, Loaded); loader.load(new URLRequest("musiclist.xml")); var thumbHd:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); thumbHd.x = 50; thumbHd.y = 70; addChild(thumbHd); function Loaded(e:Event):void{ xml = new XML(e.target.data); songList = xml.song; musicReq = new URLRequest(songList[0].url); thumbReq = new URLRequest(songList[0].thumb); music.load(musicReq); sndC = music.play(); title_txt.text = songList[0].title + " - " + songList[0].artist; loadThumb(); sndC.addEventListener(Event.SOUND_COMPLETE, nextSong); } function loadThumb():void{ var thumbLoader:Loader = new Loader(); thumbReq = new URLRequest(songList[currentIndex].thumb); thumbLoader.load(thumbReq); thumbLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, thumbLoaded); } function thumbLoaded(e:Event):void { var thumb:Bitmap = (Bitmap)(e.target.content); var holder:MovieClip = thumbHd; holder.addChild(thumb); } prevBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, prevSong); nextBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, nextSong); playBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playSong); function prevSong(e:Event):void{ if(currentIndex 0){ currentIndex--; } else{ currentIndex = songList.length() - 1; } var prevReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(songList[currentIndex].url); var prevPlay:Sound = new Sound(prevReq); sndC.stop(); title_txt.text = songList[currentIndex].title + " - " + songList[currentIndex].artist; sndC = prevPlay.play(); currentSnd = prevPlay; songPaused = false; loadThumb(); sndC.addEventListener(Event.SOUND_COMPLETE, nextSong); } function nextSong(e:Event):void { if(currentIndex And here the code for the lenght and position. It´s inside a MovieClip. That´s why I use absolute path for find the Sound object. this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, moveSpeaker); var initWidth:Number = this.SpkCone.width; var initHeight:Number = this.SpkCone.height; var rootObj:Object = root; function moveSpeaker(eventArgs:Event) { var average:Number = ((rootObj.audioPlayer_mc.sndC.leftPeak + rootObj.audioPlayer_mc.sndC.rightPeak) / 2) * 10; // trace(average); // trace(initWidth + ":" + initHeight); trace(rootObj.audioPlayer_mc.sndC.position + "/" + rootObj.audioPlayer_mc.music.length); this.SpkCone.width = initWidth + average; this.SpkCone.height = initHeight + average; }

  • Problem with custom paging in ASP.NET

    - by JohnCC
    I'm trying to add custom paging to my site using the ObjectDataSource paging. I believe I've correctly added the stored procedures I need, and brought them up through the DAL and BLL. The problem I have is that when I try to use it on a page, I get an empty datagrid. <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="PageTest.aspx.cs" Inherits="developer_PageTest" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="ObjectDataSource1" SelectMethod="GetMessagesPaged" EnablePaging="true" SelectCountMethod="GetMessagesCount" TypeName="MessageTable" runat="server" > <SelectParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="DeviceID" Type="Int32" DefaultValue="112" /> <asp:Parameter Name="StartDate" Type="DateTime" DefaultValue="" ConvertEmptyStringToNull="true"/> <asp:Parameter Name="EndDate" Type="DateTime" DefaultValue="" ConvertEmptyStringToNull="true"/> <asp:Parameter Name="BasicMatch" Type="Boolean" ConvertEmptyStringToNull="true" DefaultValue="" /> <asp:Parameter Name="ContainsPosition" Type="Boolean" ConvertEmptyStringToNull="true" DefaultValue="" /> <asp:Parameter Name="Decoded" Type="Boolean" ConvertEmptyStringToNull="true" DefaultValue="" /> <%-- <asp:Parameter Name="StartRowIndex" Type="Int32" DefaultValue="10" /> <asp:Parameter Name="MaximumRows" Type="Int32" DefaultValue="10" /> --%> </SelectParameters> </asp:ObjectDataSource> <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" DataSourceID="ObjectDataSource1" AllowPaging="true" PageSize="10"></asp:GridView> <br /> <asp:Label runat="server" ID="lblCount"></asp:Label> </div> </form> </body> </html> When I set EnablePaging to false on the ODS, and add the commented out StartRowIndex and MaximumRows params in the markup, I get data so it really seems like the data layer is behaving as it should. There's code in code file to put the value of the GetMessagesCount call in the lblCount, and that always has a sensible value in it. I've tried breaking in the BLL and stepping through, and the backend is getting called, and it is returning what looks like the right information and data, but somehow between the ODS and the GridView it's vanishing. I created a mock data source which returned numbered rows of random numbers and attached it to this form, and the custom paging worked so I think my understanding of the technique is good. I just can't see why it fails here! Any help really appreciated. (EDIT .. here's the code behind). using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.ComponentModel; public partial class developer_PageTest : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { lblCount.Text = String.Format("Count = {0}", MessageTable.GetMessagesCount(112, null, null, null, null, null)) } }

  • web grid server pagination trigger multiple controller call when changing page

    - by Thomas Scattolin
    When I server-filter on "au" my web grid and change page, multiple call to the controller are done : the first with 0 filtering, the second with "a" filtering, the third with "au" filtering. My table load huge data so the first call is longer than others. I see the grid displaying firstly the third call result, then the second, and finally the first call (this order correspond to the response time of my controller due to filter parameter) Why are all that controller call made ? Can't just my controller be called once with my total filter "au" ? What should I do ? Here is my grid : $("#" + gridId).kendoGrid({ selectable: "row", pageable: true, filterable:true, scrollable : true, //scrollable: { // virtual: true //false // Bug : Génère un affichage multiple... //}, navigatable: true, groupable: true, sortable: { mode: "multiple", // enables multi-column sorting allowUnsort: true }, dataSource: { type: "json", serverPaging: true, serverSorting: true, serverFiltering: true, serverGrouping:false, // Ne fonctionne pas... pageSize: '@ViewBag.Pagination', transport: { read: { url: Procvalue + "/LOV", type: "POST", dataType: "json", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8" }, parameterMap: function (options, type) { // Mise à jour du format d'envoi des paramètres // pour qu'ils puissent être correctement interprétés côté serveur. // Construction du paramètre sort : if (options.sort != null) { var sort = options.sort; var sort2 = ""; for (i = 0; i < sort.length; i++) { sort2 = sort2 + sort[i].field + '-' + sort[i].dir + '~'; } options.sort = sort2; } if (options.group != null) { var group = options.group; var group2 = ""; for (i = 0; i < group.length; i++) { group2 = group2 + group[i].field + '-' + group[i].dir + '~'; } options.group = group2; } if (options.filter != null) { var filter = options.filter.filters; var filter2 = ""; for (i = 0; i < filter.length; i++) { // Vérification si type colonne == string. // Parcours des colonnes pour trouver celle qui a le même nom de champ. var type = ""; for (j = 0 ; j < colonnes.length ; j++) { if (colonnes[j].champ == filter[i].field) { type = colonnes[j].type; break; } } if (filter2.length == 0) { if (type == "string") { // Avec '' autour de la valeur. filter2 = filter2 + filter[i].field + '~' + filter[i].operator + "~'" + filter[i].value + "'"; } else { // Sans '' autour de la valeur. filter2 = filter2 + filter[i].field + '~' + filter[i].operator + "~" + filter[i].value; } } else { if (type == "string") { // Avec '' autour de la valeur. filter2 = filter2 + '~' + options.filter.logic + '~' + filter[i].field + '~' + filter[i].operator + "~'" + filter[i].value + "'"; }else{ filter2 = filter2 + '~' + options.filter.logic + '~' + filter[i].field + '~' + filter[i].operator + "~" + filter[i].value; } } } options.filter = filter2; } var json = JSON.stringify(options); return json; } }, schema: { data: function (data) { return eval(data.data.Data); }, total: function (data) { return eval(data.data.Total); } }, filter: { logic: "or", filters:filtre(valeur) } }, columns: getColonnes(colonnes) }); Here is my controller : [HttpPost] public ActionResult LOV([DataSourceRequest] DataSourceRequest request) { return Json(CProduitsManager.GetProduits().ToDataSourceResult(request)); }

    Hi, I have a Delphi dll defined like this: TMPData = record Lastname, Firstname: array[0..40] of char; Birthday: TDateTime; Pid: array[0..16] of char; Title: array[0..20] of char; Female: Boolean; Street: array[0..40] of char; ZipCode: array[0..10] of char; City: array[0..40] of char; Phone, Fax, Department, Company: array[0..20] of char; Pn: array[0..40] of char; In: array[0..16] of char; Hi: array[0..8] of char; Account: array[0..20] of char; Valid, Status: array[0..10] of char; Country, NameAffix: array[0..20] of char; W, H: single; Bp: array[0..10] of char; SocialSecurityNumber: array[0..9] of char; State: array[0..2] of char; end; function Init(const tmpData: TMPData; var ErrorCode: integer; ResetFatalError: boolean = false): boolean; procedure GetData(out tmpData: TMPData); My current c# signatures looks like this: [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential, CharSet = CharSet.Ansi)] public struct TMPData { [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 40)] public string Lastname; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 40)] public string Firstname; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.R8)] public double Birthday; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 16)] public string Pid; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 20)] public string Title; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.Bool)] public bool Female; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 40)] public string Street; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 10)] public string ZipCode; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 40)] public string City; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 20)] public string Phone; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 20)] public string Fax; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 20)] public string Department; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 20)] public string Company; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 40)] public string Pn; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 16)] public string In; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 8)] public string Hi; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 20)] public string Account; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 10)] public string Valid; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 10)] public string Status; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 20)] public string Country; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 20)] public string NameAffix; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.I4)] public int W; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.I4)] public int H; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 10)] public string Bp; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 9)] public string SocialSecurityNumber; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 2)] public string State; } [DllImport("MyDll.dll")] [return: MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.Bool)] public static extern bool Init(TMPData tmpData, int ErrorCode, bool ResetFatalError); [DllImport("MyDll.dll")] [return: MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.Bool)] public static extern bool GetData(out TMPData tmpData); I first call Init setting the BirthDay, LastName and FirstName. I then call GetData but the TMPData structure I get back is incorrect. The FirstName, LastName and Birthday fields are populated but the data is incorrect. Is the mapping correct? ( "array[0..40] of char" equal to "[MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr, SizeConst = 40)]" )?

Here is the Code: MainActivity public class MainActivity extends Activity { int windowwidth; int windowheight; TextView bola; TextView bola2; private float x; private float y; private android.widget.RelativeLayout.LayoutParams layoutParams; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); windowwidth = getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay().getWidth(); windowheight = getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay().getHeight(); bola = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.ball); bola2 = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.ball2); bola2.setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener() { @Override public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub layoutParams = (RelativeLayout.LayoutParams) bola2 .getLayoutParams(); switch (event.getActionMasked()) { case MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN: break; case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE: int x_cord = (int) event.getRawX(); int y_cord = (int) event.getRawY(); if (x_cord > windowwidth) { x_cord = windowwidth; } if (y_cord > windowheight) { y_cord = windowheight; } layoutParams.leftMargin = x_cord - 25; layoutParams.topMargin = y_cord - 75; bola2.setLayoutParams(layoutParams); break; default: break; } return true; } }); bola.setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener() { @Override public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { layoutParams = (RelativeLayout.LayoutParams) bola .getLayoutParams(); switch (event.getActionMasked()) { case MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN: break; case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE: int x_cord = (int) event.getRawX(); int y_cord = (int) event.getRawY(); if (x_cord > windowwidth) { x_cord = windowwidth; } if (y_cord > windowheight) { y_cord = windowheight; } layoutParams.leftMargin = x_cord - 25; layoutParams.topMargin = y_cord - 75; bola.setLayoutParams(layoutParams); break; default: break; } // TODO Auto-generated method stub return true; } }); } @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.activity_main, menu); return true; }} Activity_main.xml <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" > <TextView android:id= "@+id/ball" android:background="@drawable/bgshape" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="1" tools:context=".MainActivity" /> <TextView android:id= "@+id/ball2" android:background="@drawable/bgshape" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="2" tools:context=".MainActivity" android:layout_x="60dp" android:layout_y="20dp" /> The bgshape.xml(for the circle) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" > <padding android:bottom="20dp" android:left="25dp" android:right="25dp" android:top="20dp" /> <stroke android:width="2dp" android:color="#000000" /> <solid android:color="#ffffff" /> <corners android:bottomLeftRadius="30dp" android:bottomRightRadius="30dp" android:topLeftRadius="30dp" android:topRightRadius="30dp" /> This code works well. Could anyone fix this so that I can add the value inside the circle when they hit each other?

  • Trouble with detecting gestures over ListView

    - by Andrew
    I have an Activity that contains a ViewFlipper. The ViewFlipper includes 2 layouts, both of which are essentially just ListViews. So the idea here is that I have two lists and to navigate from one to the other I would use a horizontal swipe. I have that working. However, what ever list item your finger is on when the swipe begins executing, that item will also be long-clicked. Here is the relevant code I have: public class MyActivity extends Activity implements OnItemClickListener, OnClickListener { private static final int SWIPE_MIN_DISTANCE = 120; private static final int SWIPE_MAX_OFF_PATH = 250; private static final int SWIPE_THRESHOLD_VELOCITY = 200; private GestureDetector mGestureDetector; View.OnTouchListener mGestureListener; class MyGestureDetector extends SimpleOnGestureListener { @Override public boolean onFling(MotionEvent e1, MotionEvent e2, float velocityX, float velocityY) { try { if (Math.abs(e1.getY() - e2.getY()) > SWIPE_MAX_OFF_PATH) return false; // right to left swipe if(e1.getX() - e2.getX() > SWIPE_MIN_DISTANCE && Math.abs(velocityX) > SWIPE_THRESHOLD_VELOCITY) { if (mCurrentScreen != SCREEN_SECONDLIST) { mCurrentScreen = SCREEN_SECONDLIST; mFlipper.setInAnimation(inFromRightAnimation()); mFlipper.setOutAnimation(outToLeftAnimation()); mFlipper.showNext(); updateNavigationBar(); } } else if (e2.getX() - e1.getX() > SWIPE_MIN_DISTANCE && Math.abs(velocityX) > SWIPE_THRESHOLD_VELOCITY) { if (mCurrentScreen != SCREEN_FIRSTLIST) { mCurrentScreen = SCREEN_FIRSTLIST; mFlipper.setInAnimation(inFromLeftAnimation()); mFlipper.setOutAnimation(outToRightAnimation()); mFlipper.showPrevious(); updateNavigationBar(); } } } catch (Exception e) { // nothing } return true; } } @Override public boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) { if (mGestureDetector.onTouchEvent(event)) return true; else return false; } ViewFlipper mFlipper; private int mCurrentScreen = SCREEN_FIRSTLIST; private ListView mList1; private ListView mList2; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); setContentView(R.layout.layout_flipper); mFlipper = (ViewFlipper) findViewById(R.id.flipper); mGestureDetector = new GestureDetector(new MyGestureDetector()); mGestureListener = new View.OnTouchListener() { public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { if (mGestureDetector.onTouchEvent(event)) { return true; } return false; } }; // set up List1 screen mList1List = (ListView)findViewById(R.id.list1); mList1List.setOnItemClickListener(this); mList1List.setOnTouchListener(mGestureListener); // set up List2 screen mList2List = (ListView)findViewById(R.id.list2); mList2List.setOnItemClickListener(this); mList2List.setOnTouchListener(mGestureListener); } … } If I change the "return true;" statement from the GestureDetector to "return false;", I do not get long-clicks. Unfortunately, I get regular clicks. Does anyone know how I can get around this?

  • Android: How/where to put gesture code into IME?

    - by CardinalFIB
    Hi, I'm new to Android but I'm trying to create an IME that allows for gesture-character recognition. I can already do simple apps that perform gesture recognition but am not sure where to hook in the gesture views/obj with an IME. Here is a starting skeleton of what I have for the IME so far. • Duplication of menu items with ViewPager and Fragments

    - by Julian
    I'm building an Android Application (minimum SDK Level 10, Gingerbread 2.3.3) with some Fragments in a ViewPager. I'm using ActionBarSherlock to create an ActionBar and android-viewpagertabs to add tabs to the ViewPager just like in the Market client. I have one global menu item that I want to be shown on every tab/fragment. On the first of the three tabs I want to have two additional menu items. But now two strange things happen: First if I start the app, everything seems to be fine, I can see all three menu items on the first page and only one item if i swipe to the second and third tab. But if I swipe back to the second tab from the third one, I can see all three items again which shouldn't happen. If I swipe back to the first and then again to the second tab, everything is fine again. The other strange thing is that every time I rotate the device, the menu items from the fragment are added again, even though they are already in the menu. Code of the FragmentActivity that displays the ViewPager and its tabs: public class MainActivity extends FragmentActivity { public static final String TAG = "MainActivity"; private ActionBar actionBar; private Adapter adapter; private ViewPager viewPager; private ViewPagerTabs tabs; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.volksempfaenger); actionBar = getSupportActionBar(); adapter = new Adapter(getSupportFragmentManager()); adapter.addFragment(getString(R.string.title_tab_subscriptions), SubscriptionGridFragment.class); // adding more fragments here viewPager = (ViewPager) findViewById(R.id.viewpager); viewPager.setAdapter(adapter); tabs = (ViewPagerTabs) findViewById(R.id.tabs); tabs.setViewPager(viewPager); } public static class Adapter extends FragmentPagerAdapter implements ViewPagerTabProvider { private FragmentManager fragmentManager; private ArrayList<Class<? extends Fragment>> fragments; private ArrayList<String> titles; public Adapter(FragmentManager fm) { super(fm); fragmentManager = fm; fragments = new ArrayList<Class<? extends Fragment>>(); titles = new ArrayList<String>(); } public void addFragment(String title, Class<? extends Fragment> fragment) { titles.add(title); fragments.add(fragment); } @Override public int getCount() { return fragments.size(); } public String getTitle(int position) { return titles.get(position); } @Override public Fragment getItem(int position) { try { return fragments.get(position).newInstance(); } catch (InstantiationException e) { Log.wtf(TAG, e); } catch (IllegalAccessException e) { Log.wtf(TAG, e); } return null; } @Override public Object instantiateItem(View container, int position) { FragmentTransaction fragmentTransaction = fragmentManager .beginTransaction(); Fragment f = getItem(position); fragmentTransaction.add(container.getId(), f); fragmentTransaction.commit(); return f; } } @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { BaseActivity.addGlobalMenu(this, menu); return true; } @Override public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { return BaseActivity.handleGlobalMenu(this, item); } } Code of the fragment that shall have its own menu items: public class SubscriptionGridFragment extends Fragment { private GridView subscriptionList; private SubscriptionListAdapter adapter; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setHasOptionsMenu(true); } // ... @Override public void onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu, MenuInflater inflater) { inflater.inflate(R.menu.subscription_list, menu); } @Override public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { // ... } }

  • Help with 2-part question on ASP.NET MVC and Custom Security Design

    - by JustAProgrammer
    I'm using ASP.NET MVC and I am trying to separate a lot of my logic. Eventually, this application will be pretty big. It's basically a SaaS app that I need to allow for different kinds of clients to access. I have a two part question; the first deals with my general design and the second deals with how to utilize in ASP.NET MVC Primarily, there will initially be an ASP.NET MVC "client" front-end and there will be a set of web-services for third parties to interact with (perhaps mobile, etc). I realize I could have the ASP.NET MVC app interact just through the Web Service but I think that is unnecessary overhead. So, I am creating an API that will essentially be a DLL that the Web App and the Web Services will utilize. The API consists of the main set of business logic and Data Transfer Objects, etc. (So, this includes methods like CreateCustomer, EditProduct, etc for example) Also, my permissions requirements are a little complicated. I can't really use a straight Roles system as I need to have some fine-grained permissions (but all permissions are positive rights). So, I don't think I can really use the ASP.NET Roles/Membership system or if I can it seems like I'd be doing more work than rolling my own. I've used Membership before and for this one I think I'd rather roll my own. Both the Web App and Web Services will need to keep security as a concern. So, my design is kind of like this: Each method in the API will need to verify the security of the caller In the Web App, each "page" ("action" in MVC speak) will also check the user's permissions (So, don't present the user with the "Add Customer" button if the user does not have that right but also whenever the API receives AddCustomer(), check the security too) I think the Web Service really needs the checking in the DLL because it may not always be used in some kind of pre-authenticated context (like using Session/Cookies in a Web App); also having the security checks in the API means I don't really HAVE TO check it in other places if I'm on a mobile (say iPhone) and don't want to do all kinds of checking on the client However, in the Web App I think there will be some duplication of work since the Web App checks the user's security before presenting the user with options, which is ok, but I was thinking of a way to avoid this duplication by allowing the Web App to tell the API not check the security; while the Web Service would always want security to be verified Is this a good method? If not, what's better? If so, what's a good way of implementing this. I was thinking of doing this: In the API, I would have two functions for each action: // Here, "Credential" objects are just something I made up public void AddCustomer(string customerName, Credential credential , bool checkSecurity) { if(checkSecurity) { if(Has_Rights_To_Add_Customer(credential)) // made up for clarity { AddCustomer(customerName); } else // throw an exception or somehow present an error } else AddCustomer(customerName); } public void AddCustomer(string customerName) { // actual logic to add the customer into the DB or whatever // Would it be good for this method to verify that the caller is the Web App // through some method? } So, is this a good design or should I do something differently? My next question is that clearly it doesn't seem like I can really use [Authorize ...] for determining if a user has the permissions to do something. In fact, one action might depend on a variety of permissions and the View might hide or show certain options depending on the permission. What's the best way to do this? Should I have some kind of PermissionSet object that the user carries around throughout the Web App in Session or whatever and the MVC Action method would check if that user can use that Action and then the View will have some ViewData or whatever where it checks the various permissions to do Hide/Show?
