I want to show ... when overflow happens,
but sadly in css there is only overflow:hidden which is near but not exact what I want.
Is it possible to implement it ?
I don't know the exact words to describe this behavior in the following pages: http://kyanmedia.com/ and http://www.jayhollywood.com.au/.
When you hover the pictures (thumbnails). A text shows up smoothly. Is this a jquery plugin or just CSS?
How to reproduce that behavior/effect?
hi all
what basic tips should we observe in design web pages(html/css/javascript) for having highest compatibility with most browsers(IE-firefox-opera-chrome-safari)?
thanks

I'm building an autosuggest search, like apple's spotlight... and want to disable the browser from offering text suggestions under the input box. I can't remember if that's an html or css setting and can't find it.
Anyone remember?
Hi. :)
Apart from the global.css i'm including in my header.php, i would also like to load certain page-content specific styles.
But since my <head></head> is already covered by my header file, and i don't wish to resort to inlines, what is the best way to place the styles on the specific page?
Thanks ! :D

hai i just want to extract all values from the above text line using regular expressions. how to write regular expression for this.
am using c#
OK so I now know there is a way to put all my php files in a single place and have them be able to be included without a filepath by setting an include_path like so:
php_value include_path .:/pathToPHPFiles
OK so now as long as my PHP files are in this directory I can include them from any subdirectory as if they were in the same directory.
I am wondering if there is a trick like this for other file types like .css and .js so I can put them all in single location and embed them in a page without worring about the filepath?
My fonts of choice usually default to text figures which is one reason I like them. However, for tables or headings I'd like to specify that lining figures should be used. Is there a way to do so in CSS?
(To appease the search:
old-style numerals, text figures, non-lining figures, medieval numerals
lining numerals, titling figures)
How to make this css code cross browser compatible using jquery. this code only works on firefox and IE8. i wan to use in IE6 and 7 also.
ol {list-style-type: none;}
li:before {content: "(" counter(section, lower-alpha) ") ";}
li { counter-increment: section;}
What useful css classes do you u keep in your stylesheet? to use in every project. and with semantic names.
is right-bdr, bdr-bottom2px are good class names
In CSS, if it is
#main #display img { height: 80px }
that means all images within an element with id display that is within another element with id main. But does it make sense or is it legal since id seems to be just global names.
It is because SASS actually allow nesting and some code may nest it like
#main
width: 700px
#display
img
height: 80px
which is "id within id".
Hi,
I'm using this css, but it puts an image in the center. Any way to left or right align an icon using an input type="button" html button, so that the text and the image fit on the button nicely?
background: url('/common/assets/images/icons/16x16/add.png');background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;
I am trying to match what is before /../ but after / with regular expressions, but i want it to look back and stop at the first / I feel like I am close but it just looks at the first slash and then takes everything after it like... input is this:
this/is/a/./path/that/../includes/face/./stuff/../hat
and my regular expression is
#\/(.*)\.\.\/#
matching
/is/a/./path/that/../includes/face/./stuff/../
instead of just
that/../ and stuff/../
how can i adapt what i'm doing to work?
I am using a fixed height image to fill a div with gradient color using something like:
background:transparent url(green_bg.gif) repeat-x scroll 0 0;
However it only fills a height equals the image height. What's the best way to fill the backround of a div which changes in height, according to amount of text inside it, either using images or using css?
You can read your browser dimensions with jQuerys $document.height or with simple JS via height: window.innerHeight || document.body.clientHeight.
But how do I apply the value to a CSS class?
On my site everything looks great in Firefox/Chrome/Safari (all the same) - but IE7, it's all out of whack.
Any ideas how I can modify my CSS to make IE7 at least somewhat usable?
I designed my layout in 1000px. Is it possible to work with Blueprint CSS? Tutorials say 950px is the maximum width of a blueprint. Is there any solution?
I'm not that good with regular expressions...
I need a JavaScript regular expression that will do the following:
The string can contain letters (upper and lower case), but not punctuations such as éàïç...
The string can contain numbers (0..9) anywhere in the string, except on the first position.
The string can contain underscores (_).
Valid strings:
foo
foo1
foo_bar
fooBar
Invalid strings:
1foo -- number as first character
foo bar -- space
föo -- punctuation ö
Many thanks!
Is it possible to make these arrows with CSS and with all browser compatible including IE,6,7,8
or image is the only option?
