  • Retrieve the CAKeyframeAnimationKey's key in AnimationDidStop

    - by JacktheSparrow
    I have multiple CAKeyframeAnimation objects, each with a unique key like the following: ..... [myAnimation setValues:images]; [myAnimation setDuration:1]; .... [myLayer addAnimation:myAnimation forKey:@"unique key"]; My question is, if I have multiple animation like this and each with a unique key, how do I retrieve their keys in the method AnimationDidStop? I want to be able to do something like this: -(void)animationDidStop:(CAAnimation*)animation finished:(BOOL)flag{ if(..... ==@"uniquekey1"){ //code to handle this specific animation here: }else if(.... ==@"uiquekey2"){ //code to handle this specific animation here: } }

  • NSMutableDictionary isn't stick around long enough

    - by Sean Danzeiser
    Sorry, beginner here . . . So I create an NSMutableDictionary in my app delegate when the application launches, and then later pass it on to a view controller, as it contains options for the VC like a background image, a url I want to parse, etc. Anyway, i wrote a custom init method for the VC, initWithOptions, where I pass the dictionary on. I'm trying to use this dictionary later on in other methods - so I created a NSMutableDictionary property for my VC and am trying to store the passed options dictionary there. However, when I go to get the contents of that property in later methods, it returns null. If i access it from the init method, it works. heres some sample code: -(id)initWithOptions:(NSMutableDictionary *)options { self = [super init]; if (self) { // Custom initialization self.optionsDict = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc]initWithDictionary:options]; NSLog(@"dictionary in init method %@",self.optionsDict); that NSLog logs the contents of the dictionary, and it looks like its working. then later when I do this: - (void)viewDidLoad { SDJConnection *connection = [[SDJConnection alloc]init]; self.dataArray = [connection getEventInfoWithURL:[dict objectForKey:@"urlkey"]]; NSLog(@"dictionary in connection contains: %@", [dict objectForKey:@"urlkey"]); [_tableView reloadData]; the dictionary returns null. Ive tried adjusting the property attributes, and it didn't work with either strong or retain. Any ideas?? THANKS!!

  • Using NSURLRequest+NSURLConnection seems overkill for a webcall with no data return

    - by Spectravideo328
    All, This might seems very straightforward but I have already gone through the URL loading system program guide and the various NSURL.... classes and not found my answer. I am just trying to do a simple call from the app to a website to reserve a party spot: NSString *path=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.myparty123.com/ireservedURL.asp?Nickname=%@&Seat=%i&Email=%@&Currentparty=%i",john,5432,[email protected],6598]; NSURL* reservationURL =[NSURL URLWithString:path]; NSData *call= [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:reservationURL]; This seemed to be the simple way but I get this warning that I am not using the "call" variable. And it seems overkill to do a call using NSData where there is no data return. Yet, creating an NSURLRequest and initiating an NSURLConnection and then implementing delegates with that request seems to be overkill as well. What am I missing. Thanks KMB

  • UIActionSheet With PickerView not showing up in iPad

    - by user717452
    I am using the following code to add an actionsheet with a picker view on it to my app. From the iPhone, it displays perfectly, but when viewing on iPad (Universal app), it shows a very small pickerview with none of the other buttons right on the center of the page. UIActionSheet *menu = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:@"Select Chapter" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Cancel" destructiveButtonTitle:@"Select" otherButtonTitles:nil]; // Add the picker UIPickerView *pickerView = [[UIPickerView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,185,0,0)]; pickerView.delegate = self; pickerView.showsSelectionIndicator = YES; // note this is default to NO [menu addSubview:pickerView]; [menu showFromTabBar:self.tabBarController.tabBar]; [menu setBounds:CGRectMake(0,0,320, 700)]; [pickerView release]; [menu release];

  • Adding ivars to NSManagedObject subclass

    - by The Crazy Chimp
    When I create an entity using core data then generate a subclass of NSManagedObject from it I get the following output (in the .h): @class Foo; @interface Foo : NSManagedObject @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *name; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSSet *otherValues; @end However, in my .m file I want to make use of the name and otherValues values. Normally I would simply create a couple of ivars and then add the properties for them as I required. That way I can access them in my .m file easily. In this situation would it be acceptable to do this? Would adding ivars to the .h (for name and otherValues) cause any unusual behaviour in the persistance & retrieval of objects?

  • Unable to store NSNumber in core data

    - by Kamlesh
    Hi all, I am using Core Data in my application.I have an attribute named PINCode which has property Int64. Now,in my app I take the PIN code from a text field,convert it into NSNumber and try to store as an attribute value for an entity.But I am unable to do so.The exception that it shows on the console is:- Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'Unacceptable type of value for attribute: property = "PINCode"; desired type = NSNumber; given type = NSCFString; value = 121.' Here is the code:- (Conversion to NSNumber):- NSString *str= txtPINCode.text; NSNumber *num = [[NSNumber alloc]init]; int tempNum = [str intValue]; num = [NSNumber numberWithInt:tempNum]; (Storing in core data entity):- NSManagedObjectContext *context = [appDelegate managedObjectContext]; NSManagedObject *newContact; newContact = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"MemberTable" inManagedObjectContext:context]; [newContact setValue:num forKey:@"PINCode"]; The app crashes at this point.I am unable to find the reason of crash.I have also tried to check the conversion by the following code:- NSNumber *testNumber = [[NSNumber alloc]init]; id test = num; BOOL testMe = [test isKindOfClass:(Class)testNumber]; Can anybody help me with this?? Thanks in advance.

  • xstream and ibm j9 sdk incompatibilities on linux

    - by Yoni
    I encountered an incompatibility with xstream and IBM J9 jdk (the 32bits version). Everything worked fine when I used sun jdk but fails on IBM jdk (on linux only. on windows it's ok with both jdks). When debugging, the error appears to be that xstream uses a java.util.TreeSet internally but the set's iterator returns elements in the wrong order (I know this sounds very strange, but this is the behavior that I saw). Googling for related bugs didn't give any meaningful results I tried upgrading pretty much any component possible but no luck. I tried the following configurations: ibm jdk 1.6 SR 7 (bundled with WebSphere 7.0.0.9), xstream 1.2.2 ibm jdk 1.6 SR 8, xstream 1.2.2 ibm jdk 1.6 SR 8, xstream 1.3.1 (I tried those both with tomcat and with WebSphere server, so actually there are 6 configurations using IBM jdk). The code in question is in class com.thoughtworks.xstream.core.DefaultConverterLookup, around line 44. It uses an iterator from class com.thoughtworks.xstream.core.util.PrioritizedList, which uses a custom comparator, but all the comparator does is compare integers (the priorities). Has anyone seen this before? Any idea what can I do or change?

  • UITapGestureRecognizer recognizing tap after scaling UIView

    - by Bikash Mishra
    I have a UIView which I scale to 4x after tapping on it. It works fine. On the next tap I want to restore it back to original size. The problem is that it recognizes the tap only in the smaller rectangle the UIView had before scaling. I would like to recognize the tap anywhere in the scaled UIView. How can I achieve it? //Tapping code titleCard = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame: myrect]; [self addSubview:titleCard]; [titleCard release]; UITapGestureRecognizer *tapRecognizer = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:@selector(changeSize:)]; [tapRecognizer setNumberOfTouchesRequired:1]; [tapRecognizer setNumberOfTapsRequired:1]; [titleCard addGestureRecognizer:tapRecognizer]; [tapRecognizer release]; //Scaling code CABasicAnimation *scale = [CABasicAnimation animationWithKeyPath:@"transform.scale"]; [scale setBeginTime:CACurrentMediaTime()+0.75]; [scale setDuration:0.5]; [scale setToValue: [NSNumber numberWithFloat:4.0f]]; [scale setRemovedOnCompletion:NO]; [scale setFillMode:kCAFillModeForwards]; Thanks.

  • Changing UINavigationBar font in Swift

    - by dcgoss
    I have a UINavigationBar with a title in the middle. I have added a custom font ("Comic_Andy.ttf") to my app (I have checked info.plist to make sure it's listed, and I have checked the Copy Bundle Resources to make sure it has been added), and I would like the title of the UINavigationBar to be displayed in that font. From what I can gather it seems as though I'm supposed to use this in my ViewController: myNavigationBar.titleTextAttributes = [NSFontAttributeName: UIFont(name: "Comic_Andy", size: 22)] I placed that method in the viewDidLoad function of the ViewController. I have also tried this in the didFinishLaunchingWithOptions function of the AppDelegate: UINavigationBar.appearance().titleTextAttributes = [NSFontAttributeName: UIFont(name: "Comic_Andy", size: 22)] I am programming in Swift, in XCode 6 Beta 6. Many resources regarding this task have mentioned using a method called setTitleTextAttributes, which is nowhere to be seen. I can't figure it out for the life of me - I've probably spent close to 3 hours on it by now - I have checked every StackOverflow answer, every website, so please do not mark this as a duplicate. Many thanks in advance!

  • measure rendered html in javascript without affecting the measurement

    - by drawnonward
    I am doing pagination in javascript. This is typographic pagination, not chopping up database results. For the most part it works, but I have run into a heisenberg issue where I cannot quite measure text without affecting it. I am not trying to measure text before it is rendered. I want the actual position it shows up at on screen, so I can paginate to where it is naturally wrapped. I am measuring the vertical position of characters, not the horizontal width of strings. The way I do this is similar to this answer in that I am applying a style to a block of text, then measuring the position of the newly created span. If the span does not reach the end of the page, I clear it and make a new span in a linear search. The problem is that the anti-aliased sub-pixel text layout is different when the span is applied. In rare cases, this causes the text to wrap differently when I measure it. I have only seen this when wrapping at a hyphen, and I assume it would not happen when wrapping at white space. As a concrete example, "prepared-he" is the string I am having trouble with. When I measure up to "prepare" it appears, as expected, to be within the current page. When I measure "prepared" the whole phrase wraps down to the next line, moving it to the next page, so it looks like the "d" is the character to break at. I break the text between "prepare" and "d-he" and that is wrong. Trying to evaluate individual characters opens a whole can of worms I would rather avoid. The wrapping changes because, with the new span, the line is 1 pixel wider. A solution to my problem could either be a better way to measure text using javascript, or a way to wrap text in a new element without affecting layout. I have tried setting margin-right:-1px for the class of the span being created to wrap the text. This had no noticeable effect. I am doing this in a UIWebView on the iPhone. There are some measurement related calls that are available in normal WebKit that are not available here. For example, Range does not have getBoundingClientRect or support setting an offset other than 0 in setStart or setEnd. Thank you

  • using crypto++ on iphone sdk with pycrypto on app engine

    - by Joey
    Hi, I'm trying to encrypt http requests using crypto++ and decrypt them with pycrypto on the app engine server end. Using Arc4 encryption, I can successfully encrypt and decrypt on the iphone end but when I try decrypting on app engine, the result is garbled. I thought maybe it has something to do with the encoding of the NSString but am not certain. It's not clear to me if I need to call encode() on the cipher on the server end before decrypting, although that does seem to resolve a failure to decrypt involving ascii values. I have a separate post that delves a bit into this. Can anyone offer some advice? http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2794942/crypto-pycrypto-with-google-app-engine

  • ViewController access data

    - by Giovanni Filaferro
    Today i would ask you if there is a way to call a method of another view controller just not initializing it or just how to get that viewController as a global variable declared in .h file. Help me please. I'm using a PageViewController and I have to use a method of the contentViewController alredy initialized. here I create my ViewControllers: - (void)createTheContent { NSLog(@"createTheContent"); pageController = nil; //[pageController removeFromParentViewController]; //[pageController awakeFromNib]; NSDictionary *options = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:[NSNumber numberWithInteger:UIPageViewControllerSpineLocationMin] forKey: UIPageViewControllerOptionSpineLocationKey]; self.pageController = [[UIPageViewController alloc] initWithTransitionStyle:UIPageViewControllerTransitionStylePageCurl navigationOrientation:UIPageViewControllerNavigationOrientationHorizontal options: options]; pageController.dataSource = self; [[pageController view] setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 365)]; initialViewController = [self viewControllerAtIndex:0]; NSMutableArray *viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObject:initialViewController]; [pageController setViewControllers:viewControllers direction:UIPageViewControllerNavigationDirectionForward animated:NO completion:nil]; [self addChildViewController:pageController]; [[self view] addSubview:[pageController view]]; [pageController didMoveToParentViewController:self]; } here are my propertys in .h file: contentViewController *initialViewController; } //Page View Controller Properties @property (strong, nonatomic) UIPageViewController *pageController; @property (strong, nonatomic) NSArray *pageContent; @property (strong, nonatomic) NSMutableArray *pageStrings; @property (strong, nonatomic) id dataObject;

  • Setting White balance and Exposure mode for iphone camera + enum default

    - by Spectravideo328
    I am using the back camera of an iphone4 and doing the standard and lengthy process of creating an AVCaptureSession and adding to it an AVCaptureDevice. Before attaching the AvCaptureDeviceInput of that camera to the session, I am testing my understanding of white balance and exposure, so I am trying this: [self.theCaptureDevice lockForConfiguration:nil]; [self.theCaptureDevice setWhiteBalanceMode:AVCaptureWhiteBalanceModeLocked]; [self.theCaptureDevice setExposureMode:AVCaptureExposureModeContinuousAutoExposure]; [self.theCaptureDevice unlockForConfiguration]; 1- Given that the various options for white balance mode are in an enum, I would have thought that the default is always zero since the enum Typedef variable was never assigned a value. I am finding out, if I breakpoint and po the values in the debugger, that the default white balance mode is actually set to 2. Unfortunately, the header files of AVCaptureDevice does not say what the default are for the different camera setting. 2- This might sound silly, but can I assume that once I stop the app, that all settings for whitebalance, exposure mode, will go back to their default. So that if I start another app right after, the camera device is not somehow stuck on those "hardware settings".

  • Received memory warning and app crashes - iphone

    - by Anand Gautam
    I am creating an app using ARC but my app is crashing due to Received memory warning. The App is working fine in simulator. But in case of iphone device, If i run the app for few minutes then on doing anything, the app crashes straightaway. I have checked my app by xcode instrument. My app folder size is 6 MB but all memory allocation is showing 63 MB on xcode instrument. Because of this reason, presentViewController-Animated-Completion is getting slow during navigation. Does anyone have any solution why this is happening?

  • Raw Video file from website

    - by Charlie
    I would like to make an app that will download videos files that can be played later. At first i thought I could have a UIWeb view and then try to access the cache of it and get the file that way but unfortunately i don't have access to that. After trying that my next thought would be get the direct link to the video file. Essentially what download helper does on fire fox. Any idea of where i could look at for help or any body have any better idea? Is there any stringByEvaluatingjavascript that might be of use or is there away to access the cache on a webview in your own app? Thanks for any help!

  • iPhone SDK - How is data shared in a universal app

    - by norskben
    Stack overflow I want to make a universal version of my app available, but I am wondering how is data managed between the iPad and the iPhone versions? -Are they completely independent? or if I have a plist in the iPad app, does it also appear in the iPhone app. If so, is there any syncing etc etc. I have a few months experience with single iPad or iPhone apps, but never a universal. Thanks again. UPDATE: I was interested in the files in the /Documents folder, does this automatically update on itunes syncing at all?

  • AVPlayer seeking to a different point after app resume

    - by CGuess
    I have an AVPlayer, the video in it is ~2 seconds long. After the video plays, if the app goes to the background and reenters the foreground I need the video to still be shown exactly as it was when the app was exited. The AVPlayer sticks around just fine, however when I reenter the app from the background the video appears to be seeked to the middle of the video. However, if I just play the video, it starts from the beginning, so it doesn't seem like it actually seeked and is just showing a preview image. I've tried to auto-seek the video to the end on relaunch but nothing happens . Nothing I can figure out or find in the docs would describe this behavior. Any tips on having the video launch either at the beginning or end?

  • Slider Not Behaving As I Would Expect

    - by Adam Waite
    I have a slider that changes a float from 1 to 10 but I want to save this value and use it across all view controllers so I have saved that float as an NSNumber in a model class (settingsData.sensitivitySliderSettingValue). I am trying to output the updated slider value to the console every time that it is changed however it just gets set to 0 rather than 0 to 10. I don't understand why this is... Here's my code: -(IBAction)sensitivitySliderValueChanged:(id)sender { [self updateSensitivity]; } -(void)updateSensitivity{ settingsData.sensitivitySettingValue = [NSNumber numberWithFloat:sensitivitySlider.value]; NSLog(@"The Slider Value is: %1.1f", [settingsData.sensitivitySettingValue floatValue]); }

  • viewDidLoad never called in Sub-classed UIViewController

    - by Steve
    I've run into some trouble with loading a sub-classed UIViewController from a nib. My viewDidLoad function is never called. The super-class has no nib, but the sub-classes each have their own. i.e. @interface SuperClass : UIViewController { } @end @interface SubClass : SuperClass{ } @end @implementation SubClass - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]; if (self) { } return self; } - (void)viewDidLoad{ // Never called } The view is loaded from a nib as follows: SubClass *scvc = [[SubClass alloc] initWithNibName:@"SubClass" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:scvc animated:YES]; [scvc release]; There is a nib file with this name and it has it's file owner's class set properly. viewDidLoad is not called in the child or super. Any ideas?

  • Load NSAttributedString from File

    - by Wayfarer
    Is there a way to have some sort of rich text in a file, and load the file into an NSAttributedString? I looked into loading a .rtf file into an NSAttributed String: NSString *filePathFooter = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:kFooterFileName ofType:@"rtf"]; NSError *error = nil; NSAttributedString *string = [[NSAttributedString alloc] initWithFileURL:[NSURL URLWithString:filePathFooter] options:nil documentAttributes:NULL error:&error]; But this leaves me with: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=258 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (Cocoa error 258.)" Is there a way to do this?

  • Drawing individual pixels with iphone sdk.

    - by blob8108
    Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to make a powder toy style game on the iPhone. My problem is how to draw pixels to the screen. From what I've read, OpenGL is better for games as it is faster/hardware accelerated, but there is no method to draw pixels directly to the screen. Apparently drawing pixels to an off-screen frame buffer is the way to go, but how do I then pass this to OpenGL? Do I use a texture? (this is assuming I have no previous knowledge of iPhone graphics programming). Thanks!

  • How do I set default values on new properties for existing entities after light weight core data migration?

    - by Moritz
    I've successfully completed light weight migration on my core data model. My custom entity Vehicle received a new property 'tirePressure' which is an optional property of type double with the default value 0.00. When 'old' Vehicles are fetched from the store (Vehicles that were created before the migration took place) the value for their 'tirePressure' property is nil. (Is that expected behavior?) So I thought: "No problem, I'll just do this in the Vehicle class:" - (void)awakeFromFetch { [super awakeFromFetch]; if (nil == self.tirePressure) { [self willChangeValueForKey:@"tirePressure"]; self.tirePressure = [NSNumber numberWithDouble:0.0]; [self didChangeValueForKey:@"tirePressure"]; } } Since "change processing is explicitly disabled around" awakeFromFetch I thought the calls to willChangeValueForKey and didChangeValueForKey would mark 'tirePresure' as dirty. But they don't. Every time these Vehicles are fetched from the store 'tirePressure' continues to be nil despite having saved the context.
