• How to flush output after each `echo` call?

  Hi all! I've a php script that only produces logs to the client. When I echo something, i wan't it to be transfered to client on-the-fly. (Because while the script is processing, the page is blank) I had already played arround with ob_start() and ob_flush(), but they didn't worked. What's the best solution? PS: it is a little dirty to put a flush at the end of the echo call... EDIT: Neither the Answers worked, PHP or Apache Fault? Thanks in advance, José Moreira Sorry for my bad English. ;)

• Set Focus After Last Character in Text Box

  I have 3 text boxes for a phone number. As the user types, it automatically moves from one textbox to the next. When the user presses backspace, I can move focus to the previous text box. The problem is that in IE, focus is set to the beginning of the text box.   I have the following code; int days = [[SettingsUtils daysToRetainHistory] intValue]; [retainHistory setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Days to retain History: %d", days]]; [daysToRetainHistory setValue:days animated:NO]; where [SettingsUtils daysToRetainHistory] is as follows; + (int) daysToRetainHistory { return (int)[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"CaseBaseDaysToRetainHistory"]; } I get the compiler warning Invalid receiver type 'int' because I call intValue on an int but unless I do this I can't seem to get the integer value out and always end up with the memory address i.e. 98765432 instead of 9 which ruins the UILabel display [retainHistory] and the UISlider [daysToRetainHistory] value. How do I avoid the compiler warning and still get my integer value in the label and the necessary float value for setting the UISlider value?

  (Assuming a WCF method called "MyFunction") Currently, to support canceling a WCF request, I'm using the BeginMyFunction/EndMyFunction methods generated by svcutil (and handling an isCanceled flag when dispatching the results to the main thread). I'd like to use the MyFunctionAsync method (and hooking into MyFunctionAsyncCompleted event instead) for async calls instead of Begin/End. What is the best/supported way to handle canceling WCF requests if using MyFunctionAsyncCompleted, and still ensuring that the event doesn't get fired on a page that's no longer loaded (i.e. page navigation within a frame). • Should I use C++0x Features Now?

  With the official release of VS 2010, is it safe for me to start using the partially-implemented C++0x feature set in my new code? The features that are of interest to me right now are both implemented by VC++ 2010 and recent versions of GCC. These are the only two that I have to support. In terms of the "safety" mentioned in the first sentence: can I start using these features (e.g., lambda functions) and still be guaranteed that my code will compile in 10 years on a compiler that properly conforms to C++0x when it is officially released? I guess I'm asking if there is any chance that VC++ 2010 or GCC will end up like VC++ 6; it was released before the language was officially standardized and consequently allowed grossly ill-formed code to compile. After all, Microsoft does say that "10 is the new 6". ;)

  Hopefully this is a straightforward question, but googling has proved fruitless (and frustrating, to say the least). Links to good documentation would be greatly appreciated. Here's the problem. We have a web application with an associated ActiveX control. (The control wraps a crufty old MFC application if it matters.) Moving forward, we expect to release multiple versions of this application, and each will have a corresponding version of the control. If someone accesses two versions of the web application, then that user should end up with two different versions of the control on his system. (The controls should play nice and not clobber each other.) In addition, I want to automate this process. Our system has a global version number that applies to all components. If we change the version number, the next build should produce a new version of the control. What's the best way to do this?

  I'm changing our webservices to an async model. And for that I have to change over a hundred methods. Doing it manually is one (unappealing) option. Is there no way to programmatically parse & change multiple functions/code files?   I need to get the width and height of a WebView and pass them in the query string of the URL I am loading in the WebView. I have found a way to do this in onResume(). Since the width and height are not calculated at this point, I post a Runnable to the WebView to be queued for after the UI loads. Here's my problem: when the orientation changes, I am handling it in onConfigurationChanged. When I try to post a Runnable in onConfigurationChanged to the WebView, the WebView's width and height end up being the old orientation's width and height. At what point can I intercept the new width and height after orientation change?

• Refactoring tools for namespaces and physical project structure

  When I hack around, some code tend to get much bigger than originally planned. As this happens I usually introduce/collapse/merge namespaces, move files between them, move folders etc etc. Sometimes, if I don't have a clear picture of the end result, this is a real pain and really easy to just "skip". This leads the project deteriorate where classes belong elsewhere, strange namespaces, no folders/wrong folders etc. And then I usually cannot take it anymore and do a larger cleanup - which is usually not difficult, just very tedious and it feels nice to do everything at once, so I do a code freeze while finishing up. So my question is... Are there any tools to help refactoring the namespace/physical aspects of a project?

  I am brainstorming an idea of developing a high level software to manipulate matrix algebra equations, tensor manipulations to be exact, to produce optimized C++ code using several criteria such as sizes of dimensions, available memory on the system, etc. Something which is similar in spirit to tensor contraction engine, TCE, but specifically oriented towards producing optimized rather than general code. The end result desired is software which is expert in producing parallel program in my domain. Does this sort of development fall on the category of expert systems? What other projects out there work in the same area of producing code given the constraints?

  When you have a button, and do something like: Private Function Button_OnClick Button.Enabled = False [LONG OPERATION] End Function Then the button will not be grayed, because the long operation prevents the UI thread from repainting the control. I know the right design is to start a background thread / dispatcher, but sometimes that's too much hassle for a simple operation. So how do I force the button to redraw in disabled state? I tried .UpdateLayout() on the Button, but it didn't have any effects. I also tried System.Windows.Forms.DoEvents() which normally works when using WinForms, but it also had no effect.

  Hey, I have two models Users and Roles. I have setup a many to many relationship between the two models and I have a joint table called roles_users. I have a form on a page with a list of roles which the user checks a checkbox and it posts to the controller which then updates the roles_users table. At the moment in my update method I am doing this because I am not sure of a better way: role_ids = params[:role_ids] user.roles.clear role_ids.each do |role| user.roles << Role.find(role) end unless role_ids.nil? So I am clearing all the entries out then looping threw all the role ids sent from the form via post, I also noticed that if all the checkboxes are checked and the form posted it keeps adding duplicate records, could anyone give some advice on a more efficent way of doing this?

Everything works fine, but I want to add the following functionality: when the new client opens Flex application, he must receive all previously generated data instead of just subscribing to data updates. It seems like I have to save this data at the web server - that's pretty straightforward, but how can I push this data to new client when he connects? Should I use custom ServiceAdapter or there is a better way to achieve this purpose?

  I would like to implement a frac function in C# (just like the one in hsl here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb509603%28VS.85%29.aspx) but since it is for a very processor intensive application i would like the best version possible. I was using something like public float Frac(float value) { return value - (float)Math.Truncate(value); } but I'm having precision problems, for example for 2.6f it's returning in the unit test Expected: 0.600000024f But was: 0.599999905f I know that I can convert to decimal the value and then at the end convert to float to obtain the correct result something like this: public float Frac(float value) { return (float)((decimal)value - Decimal.Truncate((decimal)value)); } But I wonder if there is a better way without resorting to decimals...

• saving a records containing a member of type string to a file (Delphi, Windows)

  I have a record that looks similar to: type TNote = record Title : string; Note : string; Index : integer; end; Simple. The reason I chose to set the variables as string (as opposed to an array of chars) is that I have no idea how long those strings are going to be. They can be 1 char long, 200 or 2000. Of course when I try to save the record to a type file (file of...) the compiler complains that I have to give a size to string. Is there a way to overcome this? or a way to save those records to an untyped file and still maintain a sort of searchable way? Please do not point me to possible solutions, if you know the solution please post code. Thank you

I have this query SELECT type_id, type_name FROM room_type WHERE id NOT IN (SELECT room_type FROM reservation WHERE start_date >= '$start_date' AND end_date <= '$end_date') What the query does is it selects the rooms that are not booked between the start date and end date. Also, as you can see from the reservation table, we also have 'number of rooms booked between the two dates' factor also... I need to add this 'no.of booked rooms between the two dates' factor also in to the query... The query should return the type of rooms for which at least one room is free between the two dates. I worked out the logic but just can't represent it as a query....! How will you do this...? Thanks for your suggestions..!
