  Note that the error message I put in the title of this question is abbreviated. The actual error message is below. I have an Exchange account and using Outlook 2010 as the client. I run in Cached Exchange Mode and have an .OST file locally. Recently I uninstalled and reinstalled office. I set up a new mail profile when prompted by Outlook 2010 upon first execution of the program. In my initial attempt, I pointed the data file at my existing OST file. In my second attempt, I had Outlook create a fresh empty file. In both cases I'm getting the error 'Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost).', also shown in this screenshot -- http://drop.io/4rc9v9o/asset/outlook-error-png. I don't know how to connect with the current profile - that's what I thought I did when I created a new .OST file? I've had this problem for several days so my OST file is now out of date. Once I get things running I obviously want my active mailbox to update the OST, not the other way around.

• Getting Outlook notification on more than just Inbox messages

  Outlook can notify the user every time a new email is received in the Inbox folder. (On Mac it also shows the # of unread messages in the Inbox). I have some server rules setup which makes certain emails go straight to a custom folder. I was wondering if there is an easy way to make Outlook do this before new messages in All folders or better yet, some customizable set of folders. I am using Outlook 2011 on Mac.

• Handling the Outlook 2007 AutoArchive PST file

  We encourage our users to enable AutoArchive in Outlook 2007 as a way to manage their mailbox sizes. However, we frequently end up running in to problems with the archive.pst file that is generated. The two main problems we have are: The archive.pst file is located in the user's local profile directory and is never backed up. A dead hard drive or stolen laptop could result in months or years of missing email. All other personal data is stored on network shares, but we can't do that for Outlook PST files. Without some sort of manual intervention, the archive will grow to enormous sizes. Although Outlook 2007 SP2 handles the large files better than before, it still results in slow response times from Outlook and an increase likelihood of a corrupt PST file. To mitigate these problems personally, I move the archives to a c:\Outlook folder and manually back that up to a shared drive every month or so. Additionally, I rotate archive files every year so that I have one file for each year (archive2008.pst, etc). Obviously, asking our users to do this same wouldn't help much. We need some sort of automated solution to take care of points 1 and 2. I have to imagine this is a common problem for Exchange organizations, so what is the best method to handle this?

  I've used outlook pst files in the past with great success. a few weeks ago I exported about 2 years worth of email into a pst file. size is around 1.5 gb. when i try ti import that pst back into my outlook it says its not a pst file. I've tried to repair it using pstscan and it repairs errors and will even mount it in Outlook but Outlook cant see any emails, like its an empty pst file. Is there any other way to recover my emails besides loading up backupexec and recovering my mailbox before i made the pst?

I put some auto forward rule in outlook but its not working. (May be auto forwarding is disabled). I can forward mails manually. Is there anyway to get rid off this problem?

  I have an IMAP account set up in Outlook 2010. This account receives notices from scheduled tasks. It receives a LOT of messages. I want to filter the messages that contain error reports into a new folder. I created a rule in Outlook that looks for specific text in the message. The problem is that the filter doesn't seem to see the text unless I have already viewed the message. How can I work around this limitation? EDIT This post was originally for Outlook 2003. I am now using Outlook 2010.

  A colleague's e-mail has just started playing up - he's using Outlook/Office 2003 on a Win XP SP3 machine. Yesterday his mail has suddenly stopped being received, although there are no errors of any kind that i can see. It was only noticed because he didn't have any replys all day. His e-mails seem to send fine - no errors come up, the mail goes into Sent Items as usual, but it never arrives at it's destination. However, when mail is sent from Outlook Web Access, e-mails send fine. All connections to the server appear fine and outlook is 'connected' but I've had a look at the message tracking on our Exchange 2003 server and no messages are appearing when sent from outlook, only when sent through OWA. Where should i be looking ? Thanks.

  Dell computer with Windows 7 and Outlook 2003. I recently added a smart card reader to my computer for the National Guard so that I can access some military sites that require a smart card to log in. Now, every time Outlook attempts to download any mail from my civilian AT&T account (a pop e-mail server), I get a message asking me to "Insert a smart card". I've traced it to the send/receive feature (specifically receiving e-mails) but can find no reason that Outlook should be looking for a smart card.

• How can I create an appointment on a shared Outlook calendar

  This isn't as basic a question as it may seem. Hence all the descriptive text... I and my team use Outlook 2007. I have my own personal calendar and also I share a calendar with others in my team (which is mainly used to notify everyone of vacations etc.). The others in my team are NOT technical people. I would like to create a shortcut or template that any of us can use to create an appointment in the shared calendar. My initial though was to create a new appointment, but rather than actually put it in the calendar, I would save it as an Outlook Template (.oft) file. Once created, I would send this to my team and tell them to put it in their Templates file and put a shortcut on their desktop. Then, if they want to put a vacation in the shared calendar, they just double-click on the shortcut, change the dates etc. and then save & close it. However, when I do that, it doesn't save the fact that it's an appointment on the shared calendar - it just adds the appointment to the team member's personal calendar. There doesn't seem to be a way to specify a calendar in the template. I've also tried this by saving the template as a .ics or .vcs file, with no better luck. Additionally, if a team member adds an appointment to the shared calendar, other 'sharees' aren't notified, unless the appointment is actually created as a meeting and the other sharees are explicitly invited. I found this online (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/keep-everyone-informed-about-time-away-from-the-office-HA010209819.aspx) which APPEARS to say that what I want to do isn't built in functionality (since it shows a bunch of steps to go through. I'd PREFER not to have to add this stuff to everyone else's personal calendar directly. So... Is this possible to do, natively (i.e. directly in Outlook)? Would a Sharepoint calendar make more sense and allow this functionality? Is there a way to do what I want which will allow the other team members to be notified? Like I said, I'm looking for as simple an interface as possible - these people aren't going to want to do much more than open something and change dates. Additionally, they're probably not going to have any fancy software on their PC's, although they will be up to date with Java and (maybe) .NET frameworks. Also, before anyone gets funny, yes, this has to work with Outlook 2007, as it's a corporate standard - we're not able to change that, even though e.g. Google Calendar would do this wonderfully. Obviously if this functionality is available in Outlook 2010, then fantastic - we might be able to upgrade. Thanks!

  Outlook opens, gets new emails and everything but when I close it, it gives me the following error and then opens up a Save a File window after I cancel this error message. There's no other computer that may be using Outlook under this User Name because I just set-up a brand new User Name. However, Colligo Briefcase is attached to the Outlook and not sure if this is triggering and if so how I address the issue!? Thanks a lot!

• Outlook 2010 search not working after upgrade to windows 8

  After upgrading my computer to Windows 8 Outlook 2010 has stopped displaying search results. Normally you can enter a (part) of a word in the search box on top of the inbox list and it will show you result immediatly. Even mails allready visible on the screen are not found. Somebody familiar with this issue? Update: maybe relevant: I use an Google Apps Pro account. All mail is synced and locally available in Outlook 2010. I did not change this in any way while upgrading, it was working perfectly before. I can scroll through all the e-mails, new mails are coming in as expected. This morning I received two mails from a person by the name of Rosanne. When searching on her name in Outlook it gives me One (1) result, the last mail from today. Update 2: Rebuilding the index seemed to be working. But after another day it stopped working again. No results whatsoever in Outlook search. Rebuilding indexes every day is not an option as it takes several hours. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I use Google Apps Pro. It acts like a Exchange server to outlook. In indexing options (configuration) I added the directories containg the PST from this service (mail is also synced locally)

CompleteBackColor – The color to display in the upload field when the upload is complete. UploaderStyle – The user interface style: Traditional or Modern. PersistFile – When true, the uploaded file is persisted in Session state. The last property PersistFile, causes the uploaded file to be stored in Session state. That way, if completing a form requires multiple postbacks, then the user needs to upload the file only once. For example, if there is a server validation error, then the user is not required to re-upload the file after fixing the validation issue. In the sample code above, this condition is simulated by disabling client-side validation for the RequiredFieldValidator control. The RequiredFieldValidator EnableClientScript property has the value false.   Am 6.5.2011 findet in Köln die dotnet Cologne 2011 statt, eine von der .NET User Group Köln und der von mir geleiteten Gruppe Bonn-to-Code.Net gemeinsam organisierte Community-Konferenz rund um .NET. Die “dotnet Cologne” hat sich mittlerweile als die große .NET Community- Konferenz in Deutschland etabliert. So war die letztjährige dotnet Cologne 2010 mit 300 Teilnehmern bereits einen Monat im Voraus ausgebucht. Und heise online schrieb: “Inzwischen besitzt die dotnet Cologne ein weites Einzugsgebiet. Die Teilnehmer kommen nicht mehr ausschließlich aus dem Kölner Umfeld, sondern aus allen Teilen Deutschlands [...] Die gute Qualität des Vorjahres in Verbindung mit einem geringen Preis hat sich schnell herumgesprochen, sodass Teilnehmer aus Bayern oder Thüringen keine Ausnahme waren.” Auch in diesem Jahr erwartet die Teilnehmer ein ganzer Tag voll mit Themen rund um .NET. • SQL SERVER – 2011 – Clipboard Ring – CTRL+SHIFT+V

  While I was writing my earlier post SQL SERVER – 2011 – Multi-Monitor SSMS Windows, I found out that there is one more similar feature which existed in Visual Studio is also now part of SQL Server 2011 (Denali). The feature is called clipboard ring feature. This is how it works. Select Multiple object one by one using regular CTRL + X. Now instead of pasting using CTRL+V use CTRL+SHIFT+V. Well, you will see that that pasted value is rotating based on what you have earlier selected in CTRL+V. I was really happy as I think this is one of the feature of VS, I really wanted SSMS to have. Cette dernière se base sur KDE 4.6.1 et s'articule autour du noyau 2.6.37. Mais l'éditeur a déjà prévenu que la version 38 du kernel serait intégrée au système d'exploitation dès que possible. Cette mouture apporte de nombreuses améliorations, du côté des pilotes graphiques mais aussi du lecteur multimédia Clémentine. Parmi les composants systèmes, on notera : rpm-5.3.9-0.20110303.2, systemd-20, networkmanager-0.8.3.997 et bash 4.2 Enfin, la très récente RC de Firefox 4 est déjà inclue dans le pack logiciels.
