  • Hash Table question [closed]

    - by Fatimah
    I need your help to solve this program ... Implement a separate chaining hash table that stores strings. You’ll need a hash function that converts string into an index number. Assume the strings will be lowercase words, so 26 characters will suffice.

  • Global variable in a recursive function how to keep it at zero?

    - by Grammin
    So if I have a recursive function with a global variable var_: int var_; void foo() { if(var_ == 3) return; else var_++; foo(); } and then I have a function that calls foo() so: void bar() { foo(); return; } what is the best way to set var_ =0 everytime foo is called thats not from within itself. I know I could just do: void bar() { var_ =0; foo(); return; } but I'm using the recursive function a lot and I don't want to call foo and forget to set var_=0 at a later date. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this? Thanks, Josh

  • why we can't initialize a servlet using constructor itself?

    - by Reddy
    Why do we have to override init() method in Servlets while we can do the initialization in the constructor and have web container call the constructor passing ServletConfig reference to servlet while calling constructor? Ofcourse container has to use reflection for this but container has to use reflection anyway to call a simple no-arg constructor

  • if a JAR is placed on app servers's classpath how do we reference it from JSP

    - by Omnipresent
    On our application we are getting an error saying: PWC6117: File "/struts-tags" not found code in the file thats giving error is: <%@ taglib prefix="s" uri="/struts-tags" %> This file is in struts2-core.jar which is placed on the classpath of the app server (Sun 9.1). The code will work fine and not complain when the jar is actually in WEB-INF/lib of the application, compared to being on classpath of the appserver. But we can not change that. it has to be on appservers classpath. But how should we change our code so that this error goes away? I can create mapping in my web.xml so that tag uri's are change. but what should taglib-location be changed to? so that it references to app servers classpath? <taglib> <taglib-uri>/WEB-INF/struts-tags.tld</taglib-uri> <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/struts-tags.tld</taglib-location> </taglib>

  • OPENGL Android getting the coordinates of my image

    - by Debopam
    I used the codes from the following the website. And it helped a lot to draw the required object on my screen. But the problem I am facing is getting the coordinates of my object. Let me explain. According to the code. You just need to add your graphic images in PNG format and refer it to the class here. What I am trying to achieve is a simple collision detection mechanism. I have added a maze (as PNG). And have a object (as PNG) to go through the blank path within the maze. In order to do this I need to know the blank spaces within the coordinates through which my object will move. Can any one tell me how to get the blank spaces as (x,y) coordinates through which I can take my object?

  • No exit option if something is running

    - by max
    How can I catch something going on if the user chooses the exit option from a menu? I mean I'd like to be able to manage the event of a user who is going to close the application but some activity is being performed so he/she shouldn't be able to exit. Here's the code I wrote. In a nutshell : recording is being performed -- user clicks exit -- WARNING "Process is running you can't do it"(The process goes on) nothing is running -- user clicks exit -- application closes Is it possible to solve the problem by just adding a few lines of code without having to rewrite the entire program? thanks very much in advance. MAX exitAction = new AbstractAction("Exit") { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { System.exit(0); } }; exitAction.putValue(Action.NAME, "Exit"); // description exitAction.putValue(Action.SHORT_DESCRIPTION, "Exit application");
