  • Default soundcard per application in Vista?

    I use a USB headset during the day, then at night I use my speakers to watch video. I constantly have to use the windows playback list to change the default soundcard before I run the program I want. I did some google research but it doesn't seem to help much, mostly because of false positives. I tried to use "Sound Card Manager" but it didn't seem to work properly. Has anyone had any sucess dealing with the Vista sound system?

  • How to check wifi networking standard of current connection

    Both my router and my wireless networking card support the standards 802.11a/b/g/n but as I'm only getting speeds around 30-40 Mbit/s I suspect that it's the g standard being used instead of n. Now, I'd like to verify this somehow, so my question is: Is there a way (like a network diagnistics tool or the like) to find out which standard is currently used in the communication between computer and router?

  • Setting up router: I can get online via Ethernet, and I can connect to router wirelessly, but can't

    I'm setting up a new D-Link N300 router, and trying to connect a MacBook Pro and a MacBook, both running OS X 10.6. As the question says, either computer can connect to the internet when connected to the router via Ethernet. And either one can get on the router's wireless network. But when connected wirelessly (without the Ethernet cable plugged in), neither one can get online. I can't figure out why that would be. Any help appreciated.

  • How to stop switchable graphics from switching to high-power GPU when charging the laptop?

    I've an Acer laptop with Windows 7 64 bit and an ATI Radeon HD 6550M Graphics card. Whenever I connect the power to charge the battery it automatically switches to the high-power GPU (ATI) instead of the low-power (Intel) GPU. There's an option in the bios to stop such thing but it makes the GPU runs always on high-power and I can't switch to the low-power GPU. How can I prevent the switchable graphics from automatically using the high-power GPU when charging?

I need to give users the ability to pick a business card template and then update the text with their own information. Then I need to create a PDF proof for the user to sign off on, as well as create a hi-rez pdf for print. Can anyone point me in the right direction?     In my office I have 4 computers connected to the Internet with a DIR-615 Wireless N 300 router which gives Internet to all pc's via Ethernet cable. But sometimes this Internet goes off and I have to call the ISP and it takes them 2 days to repair it. I wanted to know if in such cases, can I connect my two zte 3g usb modems to this DIR-615 Wirless N300 router and get emergency Internet in my office? What other steps are required to set up this fail-safe connection?

I'm thinking maybe i can make a live MP3 stream? maybe over the web, or over the intranet?   • Browsing Bombs After a Short While

    After a reboot, my internet connection lasts perhaps a half hour or so before tanking. I can ping (by both IP and hostname), but I cannot browse. If I restart the "Network Store Interface Service", my connection comes back. What could be failing with that service or its dependent services that would kill my ability to browse? For some system info, I'm using a Sony Vaio with a fully-patched Windows Vista install and with an Intel 3945ABG wireless adapter.

    Hi all! Thanks in advance for any thoughts about this. I'm looking for a way to do realtime inter-app communication in iOS via wi-fi (I need about 150 ft range and don't think bluetooth offers this) and wonder about the peer-to-peer connectivity offered by GameKit which, apparently offers both bluetooth and wi-fi connectivity. My question is: must participating devices be members of an available wireless network (via a wireless router) or is this connectivity truly peer-to-peer requiring no router? I understand Wi-fi Direct is coming and would likely be an option. Just wondering if I can do this utilizing services available in iOS today. Thanks! Tim

    Hi, guys, I'm running Windows 7. Whenever I disable the wireless adapter, the "Disable" option does not change to "enable". Similarly, for the "Local Area Connection", when I click on "Disable", the adapter gets disabled, but the "Disable" option remains. In summary, I am never offered the option to enable an adapter.

  • Do certain usb ports work better on my IBM T60?

    Hi. I am using a Microsoft wireless phone ear piece and I have had the receiver plugged into the USB port on the Left Hand side. I have been getting intermittent success with the signal. I have recently tried plugging it in to one of the ports on the top Right Hand side, and it seems that I am getting a better signal. Is there a difference between the ports? Thanks.

The discovery shows up with 3 pointing devices, directly connected USB mouse, wireless mouse and touch screen. My question is how to distinguish between USB mouse with touch screen. If Win32_PointingDevice class doesn't provide information then are there any other methods which I can use to get mouse and touch information. I have tried the full driver package and the drivers-only package. 10-5_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_enu.exe 10-5_vista64_win7_64_dd.exe I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. How can I upgrade?
