• SQL code to insert multiple rows in ms-access table

  I'm trying to speed up my code and the bottleneck seems to be the individual insert statements to a Jet MDB from outside Access via ODBC. I need to insert 100 rows at a time and have to repeat that many times. It is possible to insert multiple rows in a table with SQL code? Here is some stuff that I tried but neither of them worked. Any suggestions? • Adobe AIR: touch screen doesn't trigger mouse down event correctly

  i have designed a gaming kiosk app in as3 i am using it on a Sony vaio l pc (like hp's touchsmarts) in windows 7 the app doesn't need any multi-touch gestures (only single touch clicks and drags) so i am using mouse events everything is fine (including mouse click and move events) except that a single touch to the screen (with no move) doesn't fire a mouse down. it is fired only after a small move of the finger outside the app, on my desktop, i see that the small windows 7 cursor jumps immediately to where a finger is placed, meaning this issue isn't a hardware or a windows problem but rather how internally the flash app receives "translated" touch-to-mouse events from the os. for example, in a windows Solitaire game, a simple touch to the screen immediately highlights the touched card. in my app, a button will change to the down state only if i touch it and also move my finger slightly (click events - down and up - are triggered fine) shouldn't the MOUSE_DOWN event trigger exactly like how a TOUCH_BEGIN would in the new touchevent class? any ideas?

• Soft Shadows in Raytracing 3D to 2D

  Hello: I wish to implement soft shadows produced by area lights in my raytracer. I'm having trouble generating the random samples. So I have a scene in which I have an area light (represented as a circle) whose world (x,y,z) coordinates of the center are given, the radius is given, the normal of the plane on which the circle lies is given, as well as the color and attenuation factors. The sampling scheme I wish to use is the following: generate samples on the quadrilateral that encompasses the circle and discard points outside the circle until the required number of samples within the circle have been found. I'm having trouble understanding how I can transform the 3D coordinates of the center of the circle to its 2D representation (I don't think I can assume that the projection of the circle is on the x-y axis and thus just get rid of the z-component). I think the plane normal information should be used but I'm not sure how. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

  I know Silverlight 4 can handle elevated permissions outside the browser. Is there a way to accomplish this inside the browser? I need to make a folder/file upload manager that gives a better user experience than the standard , and I'd like to implement it in Silverlight. I know Java has an option to gain elevated permissions, but you have to attach a signed certificate to your app. Does Silverlight 4 have a similar option - to gain elevated permissions by attaching a signed certificate (after warning the user, of course)? -Doug

• using WP_Query with custom SQL in wordpress

  Hi. I am writing a plugin for wordpress and I want to create my own search. I have tried to alter the wordpress search, but what I am doing is very specific with the SQL query. I am comparing lat and long coordinates and getting posts based on that. I can display posts by using the standard wpdb query, but then I don't get the other features like paging. I'd like to be able to use my SQL statement with the WP_Query function. If I'm right in thinking, I should then be able to use the paging and other features which come from the $posts global variable. Is this right?? I've googled for hours but can't find anything for plugins outside of using args to select categories etc. I simply need to send a complete SQL command - nothing else. Many thanks....

I have this regex: ((?<=[<])([A-Z]|[_])+(?=[>]))|(\\[.\\]) But this returns square bracket items within the parenthesis. • interesting network or git problem

  I have a setup my own git repository with gitosis on dedicated debian server. The server is visible via port 22 from outside (the port 22 is forwarded from my router to my git server). On the local network the git repository works perfectly. The problem happens once I try to do "git clone.." from remote server. So once I do "git clone.." from remote I am getting git clone hung after cloning around 20-30% of the repository (small around 2MB) and I think this is the random percentage. I can do scp to and from the git server without any problems. Also as I mentioned the git clone, push, etc works perfectly within my internal network. Any idea how to debug this problem? thanks

• Referencing code in VB.NET

  I'm not at all familiar with VB.NET or ASP. I need to create a simple page which makes a call to a remote web service. I used the wsdl utility which comes with the DotNet SDK to generate a service proxy and write it to a VB file. Unfortunately I have no idea how to reference this code in either my ASPX file or the code behind VB file so I can create an instance of the proxy. Edit: I should have qualified this by noting that I'm not using visual studio. I just coded up a .aspx with a .vb behind it and dropped it into an IIS location. Is there a way to do what you're suggesting outside of VS?

• NativeWindow WndProc not receiving messages

  Could someone shed some light on why my WndProc method as implemented below isn't receiving any messages? If I put this class below in a WinForms application and pass in that application's handle, WndProc receives messages as I would expect. However, using the IntPtr returned from GetForegroundWindow() as I have below doesn't yield the same results. • WinForms button position - not aligned as it should

  Adding some gui modifications and I want to have a button which is 10pixels away from the forms left and right border. With this code the right border of the button is around 20-30 pixel outside the form window. Why is that?   Hi, All the applications I have ever seen, that use UINavigationBars, have the UINavigationBar right at the top of the app. If you want to use a UISearchBar then it's usually in the 'header' of the UITableView such as this... What I would like to do is to put a UISearchBar object above/outside of the UINavigationBar/Controller, but i've been having some problems doing this. Firstly, is what I want to achieve even possible? What would the easiest way to do this be? Starting with the navigation based application seems to make the navigationbar/view un-resizeable! • What disables "Run Project" in Expression Blend 3

  I am developing a Sketchflow (Silverlight) project in Expression Blend 3. It has been working fine up until today, now I cannot run the project. Specifically in the Project menu the "Run Project" option is now greyed out (all the other options are fine). F5 also doesn't have any effect. I've obviously messed up the code somewhere but I can't find any information on what could cause the "Run Project" option to be disabled. This would obviously help the troubleshooting. Does anybody know what controls this functionality? I can build the project no problem. And if I package the project (so it runs outside Expression) this also works fine. It is just launching it from Expression that doesn't work.

• Where to put reusable methods for access by controllers in rails

  I have several methods I call from my controllers that feel like they should be pulled out and put into a reusable class, outside of the controller. Where do people usually put this stuff? I know I can put them into my ApplicationController, but that doesn't seem to be a great solution if I think I can use these methods later in other applications. Also, I have a bunch of utility methods in my controllers that likely won't be used in other controllers, or in the future at all, but I feel like they just bloat my controller a bit. Do people usually move these out someplace for cleanliness or just end up with a huge controller? I'm coming from Java and Actionscript where I'd just create new util classes for this stuff.

• Cost of using ASP.NET

  One thing that I keep hearing in reference to ASP.NET and MSFT technologies is that they cost money to use. Often when they are being compared to open source languages someone will mention that one factor in favor of open source is that it's free (to an extent). My question is, when does ASP.NET actually cost money to use in terms of using the proprietary technology? Understandably there are the hosting fees, but I'm curious about the fees outside of these hosting fees. I'm especially curious about this as it relates one-person smaller-site development (non-team/large enterprise). Any help is appreciated. (edits) Some excellent answers. Much appreciated The projects that I'm looking to use the technologies for would be personal sites and very small business sites (1 or 2). The intent would of course be that these projects get much bigger. It seems that for commercial production, fees will apply. What about just basic dynamic "shared hosting" sites that provide information?

• VB.NET localization

  In my winform app in VB.NET I want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips don't seem to change when I choose another language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR, nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program?

• IIS, Impersonation and COM Interop Premission Denied

  Hello we are in the throws of integrating a Document Management System with Dynamic CRM 4, have done similar things previously but in this instance we are having to reference a COM dll. We've configured the asp.net page (we are bringing the info in via a i-Frame in CRM), setting Impersonation = True in the Webconfig and ensured that Windows authentication is the only method available within IIS. All works as we would expect when logged into the server itself and the page happily does off finds all the relevant documents for the CRM account and presents them to a user in a nice Infragistics CRM styled grid. However trying this from a client workstation we get the following: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0xC0042335): Permission denied. Impersonation appears to be passing over the correct details but nothing we've tried thus far has been able to make this work outside of logging into the server. Any thoughts as to what we are missing?

  I'm playing with the datatable implementation in the Easygrid plugin and I have to say i love it but I have a question . If i use datatable directly (ie outside of Easygrid) to decorate a table i get a global search box defined above my table . If i use the Easygrid implementation and define my grid in a controller I get filters added for each column but no search box - it is added but then removed somehow either by easygrid itself or some parameter passed to datatable . How can I restore the search box and is this a bug as i would have thought the default implementation of datatable supplied via easygrid should match the default implementation supplied by the vanilla datatable itself? I'm using Grails 2.3.7 and Easygrid 1.6.2 .. Thanks

  I was wondering how to develop a secure form post through AJAX. For example, i have: My HTML form. My JavaScript handling the submit. The submit url is "post_data.php" The posted data is: id=8&name=Denis The PHP verifies if variables id and name are POSTED and their data type. If this is ok it proceed to do some stuff on a database. My question is, how can i prevent someone from creating his own html form, outside my web site, or whatever, and posting false data to my PHP script?   I'd like to find out which colours are used for a particular pallette in the ASP.NET Chart control. I already know there is an enum on the Chart class to set the palette, e.g. myChart.Palette = ChartColorPalette.Berry; But I'd like to know which colours belong to the palette. Before anyone asks - as I know you will - the reason I need to know the colours is because I want to create my own legend outside of the chart image. I also know that I can set my own colours on the DataPoints for the chart, but I'd rather not have to implement my own palette.
