You know, maybe someone already made a setup script :)

For example, we have a world class that has a member variable vector<monster> monsters. When the monster class is going to communicate with the world class, should I prefer using a callback function then or should I have a pointer to the world class inside the monster class?

    I am trying to get visual studio working in Unity without using any virtual machine or other IDE alternatives. I am convinced Visual Studio is the ultimate IDE for .Net programming languages. I'm not necessarily for dual booting. I have been working more than 10 years on visual studio and I prefer it over other IDEs. I have tried other IDEs but they didin't work too well for me. Does anyone know a way to get this working natively?

  • Why do I get Unity instead of Classic when using NX?

    Recently I installed FreeNX on my PC and when I login with my 'dev' account I get the Unity interface rather than Classic Gnome. This is odd as my last login before FreeNX was with the Classic interface. I would like to have Classic over FreeNX by default. I do login with a 'watch iplayer' account where the Unity interface works a treat. For this reason I would prefer not to uninstall Unity. Any ideas?

    I have an application that runs through various tasks as an automated process. My client would like me to create a file in a given folder for each task as a way to flag when each task completes. They prefer this to a database flag because they can be notified by the file system rather than continually polling a database table. I can do this but creating and deleting files as flags feels clunky. Is there a more elegant approach to notifying a third-party of an event?

    There's plenty of algorithms to scale up pixel art (I prefer hqx personally), but are there any notable algorithms to scale it down? In my case, the game is designed to run at 1280x720, but if someone plays at a lower resolution I want it to still look good. Most Pixel Art discussions center around 320x200 or 640x480 and upscaling for use in console emulators, but I wonder how modern 2D games like the Monkey Island Remake look good on lower resolutions? (Ignoring the options of having multiple versions of assets (essentially, mipmapping))

I'd also prefer it fade to grayscale instead of suddenly lose all color.     Possible Duplicate: Is there a way to add Mozilla Thunderbird to the messaging menu? Hi, After installing ubuntu I setup my email in evolution, which is fine but on balance I prefer Thunderbird so I installed and set that up. Under preferred applications I have set the mail to Thunderbird, but when I click on the icon in the top right (the mail envelope) and select mail it still loads evolution. Is there a way to switch this to Thunderbird?
