• Force download menu for remote files

  Hey, I would like users to upload links on my site. When another user clicks on the link (e.g. PDF file), then I would like the download popup to show instead of actually displaying the PDF in browser. I know I can use Response.AddHeader/Response.WriteFile to achieve this, but the WriteFile method required a virtual path. However, the links uploaded by the user will be pointing to external servers. Can I still force the download popup to show and, if so, what would be the most efficient way of doing it? Thanks for any advice

• O(N log N) Complexity - Similar to linear?

  Hey All, So I think I'm going to get buried for asking such a trivial but I'm a little confused about something. I have implemented quicksort in Java and C and I was doing some basic comparissons. The graph came out as two straight lines, with the C being 4ms faster than the Java counterpart over 100,000 random integers. The code for my tests can be found here; android-benchmarks I wasn't sure what an (n log n) line would look like but I didn't think it would be straight. I just wanted to check that this is the expected result and that I shouldn't try to find an error in my code. I stuck the formula into excel and for base 10 it seems to be a straight line with a kink at the start. Is this because the difference between log(n) and log(n+1) increases linearly? Thanks, Gav

• How to rate a connect four game situation in java

  Hey, I am trying to write a simple AI for a "Get four" game. The basic game principles are done, so I can throw in coins of different color, and they stack on each other and fill a 2D Array and so on and so forth. until now this is what the method looks like: public int insert(int x, int color) //0 = empty, 1=player1 2=player2" X is the horizontal coordinate, as the y coordinate is determined by how many stones are in the array already, I think the idea is obvious. Now the problem is I have to rate specific game situations, so find how many new pairs, triplets and possible 4 in a row I can get in a specific situation to then give each situation a specific value. With these values I can setup a "Game tree" to then decide which move would be best next (later on implementing Alpha-Beta-Pruning). My current problem is that I can't think of an efficient way to implement a rating of the current game situation in a java method. • JSP cant find bean Class using "" modifiers

  Hey I'm using Netbeans for my IDE and I'm getting an error when I try to run my EJB program. I get an error when I declare and give the path of the class in my JSP to a bean. <jsp:useBean id="book" class="BookBean.Book" scope="application" /> <jsp:setProperty name="book" property="*" /> When I run the program I get this error javax.servlet.ServletException: java.lang.InstantiationException: class BookBean.Book : java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class java.beans.Beans can not access a member of class BookBean.Book with modifiers "" and java.lang.InstantiationException: class BookBean.Book : java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class java.beans.Beans can not access a member of class BookBean.Book with modifiers "" I removed the "" and put in '' to see if that works, but it doesn't. • Ordering by multiple columns in mysql with subquery

  Hey guys I have a query that selects data and organizes but not in the correct order. What I want to do is select all the comments for a user in that week and sort it by each topic, then sort the cluster by the latest timestamp of each comment in their respective cluster. My current query selects the right data, but in seemingly random order.   Hey, I have 10 bytes - 4 bytes of low order, 4 bytes of high order, 2 bytes of highest order - that I need to convert to an unsigned long. And in the yahoo rich text editor there is one link of image insert.. but i don't know why its not opening. on click of it. the image insert dialog is not opening. all things are working properly. Why is it not opening? and if is there anyway to only remove the image insert icon from text editor.

  Hey all, i am checking for an internet connection by checking for a file on my server. The file only has the word LIVE displayed on the page. No HTML or anything else is there, just the word LIVE. When i run this code, i do get the NSLog as saying "LIVE" but once i go to check it with the IF statement, it fails and i just do not know why???   Hey all I have a 2 MS SQL 2005 databases,a TEST and DEV database. Now our developer added some extra columns,tables etc in the DEV database.This created differences in the TEST database.is there a script i can write tha can tell me what the changes where in the DEV database between certain dates...i found a couple of tools but they are quite basic and dont really generate change scripts etc. Also tried the change script function in management studio but it seems to be working when the change is first made and not later. • Display list of websites on local IIS server in a web page

  Hey Guys, I am currently trying to figure out a way to list all of the websites that are running on a local IIS 6 server at the office and display links to each site with their descriptions so we can always find our development sites with ease. The way that the server is currently set up is I add a DNS record for a new site. eg: newsite.company.local and then add it to IIS. This way all the users in our office can access this site via their browser and developers can test, admins can review etc etc. What I want to do now is automatically generate a webpage with a list of all of the sites running on iis and have it be available across the network. I have never looked into this before and have no idea where to start.. help! Thanks :)

  Hey guys, quick question, I have this query, and I am trying to get the latest comment for each topic and then sort those results in descending order (therefore one comment per topic). I have what I think should work, but my join always messes my results up. Somehow, it seems to have sorted the end results properly, but has not taken the latest comment from each topic instead it seems to have just taken a random comment.   Hey, How can i redirect a subdomain call to a folder? So when the site, sub.domain.com is requested, the name of the subdomain should point to a subfolder. The server is configured to add every request to the domain, but i get a 404 page everytime i do a non-defined subdomain call (witch is trivial, because theres nothing defined) EDIT my request looks like this: sub.domain.com What and i want to get that it works like a "virtual subdomain", because it has to request a folder with the same name that the subdomain. (domain.com/sub/) So the question is: How to solve this, with .htaccess?

• UITableView - Loading data from internet

  Hey. I have seen many apps that load data to UITableViews from the internet, and they usually load smoothly. Now it's my turn to load in that kind of data. I am getting different data at the same time, separating categories with ~ and pieces of categories with #. This works great, and I have managed to separate the data in obj-c perfectly. Everything in my app works, it's just that the loading takes a lot of time. So, I guess the real question is, how can you load in data for a tableView in the background, showing a label/UIActivityView or something while it is loading? Thank you.

  Hey, I have two tables in one DB, one called Cottages and one called Hotels. In both tables they have the same named fields. I basically have a search bar that i want it to search in both of the fields in both of the tables. (the two fields being called "Name" and "Location" SO far I have $sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM Cottages WHERE Name LIKE '%$term%' or Location LIKE '%$term%' LIMIT 0, 30"); But this only searches the Cottages table, how can I make it search both the cottages and hotel tables? • Most efficent way to limit rows returns from union query- TSQL

  Hey guys...I have a simple stored proc with two queries joined with a union select name as 'result' from product where... union select productNum as 'result' from product where... I want to limit this to the TOP 10 results... if i put TOP 10 in each seperate query I get 20 results total. What is the most efficient way to limit total results to 10? I dont want to do TOP 5 in each because I may end up in a situation where I have something like 7 "names" and 3 "productsNumbers"

• What happens if the first part of an if-structure is false?

  Hey guys, I was wondering what happens when a program processes an if-structure with multiple conditions. I have an idea, but i'm not sure about it. I'll give an example : List<string> myTestList = null; if (myTestList != null && myTestList.Count > 0) { //process } The list is null. When processing the if, will it go from left to right exiting the if as soon as one condition is false? I've tried it and seems to throw no errors, so i assume the above explains it, but i'm not sure. Thanks in advance.
