• Vote based issue tracking and feature request system? [closed]

  I'd like a system where people can sign up and post bugs or feature requests they might have and have access to seeing other bugs and feature requests they can vote on based on which they want the most. Something like http://feedback.unity3d.com would be great. edit: I'm not exactly sure how this isn't 'a real question', perhaps people are incapable of inferring a question because of a lack of a question mark so here's one: '?' is that better? (that makes two).

• Notification / tray icon / applet drop downs disappear or flicker when clicked

  For some reason, after upgrading to 11.10, the tray icon drop-down menus don't persist after a single click about 2/3 of the time. They always work if I click-and-hold, but I'm used to just clicking once to examine the menu. The behavior is not consistent, so the drop down menus will stay after click about 1 in 3 times. I'm running 64 bit Ubuntu on a dual-monitor setup. EDIT: from lspci: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation M116N (rev a2)

• Yahoo media player not working with Ruby on rails

  I have a yahoo media player embedded in my webpage. I am currently using Ruby on Rails to create/edit my web page. When i click the play button next to a track the YMP waits a while and then goes to the next track without playing the first one. I then get a warning on my second (last) track that its file could not be found. Does anyone has a better recommendation for an audio player or a way to fix this one?

• Can the parameters of the Music Lens be edited?

  I primarily listen to classical music on my laptop. Since I'm obsessed with specifics with my music, I am precise with how I label my genres (Opera, Symphony, Chorale, etc.). Is there a way to edit the Music Lens so that instead of listing "Blues, Classic, Country..." it could list custom parameters? Could the same be done for the "Decade" parameter? Maybe make it "Century", since I have music from back in the 1400's :)

  On my command line only Ubuntu machine, the login prompt occasionally shows a warning: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS myserver tty1 myserver login: [833747.589882] ipheth: ipheth_rcvbulk_callback: urb status: -71 Nothing is obviously wrong with the system, and I can enter my username and password without issue. What does this message mean and should I be worried about it? Edit: I've found plugging in and then removing my iPhone from the computer causes this message. I'm still looking for what it means.

• Can I use other ways than Ubuntu Software Center to open `apt` links?

  Without Ubuntu Software Center in Lubuntu I was unable to edit opening apt links in any program in Firefox (see this question) After installing Ubuntu Software Center, that problem is solved, but could I use other program instead of Ubuntu Software Center for the same purpose? I find it too heavy, and to install I prefer the Terminal, gdebi, Lubuntu Software Center or the Synaptic. (Now that I have the apt option in Firefox/Preferences/Applications, I try to change Ubuntu Software Center to Lubuntu Software Center but this does not change the option.)

• Adding 1 subdomain using .htaccess

  Alright, so unlike other solutions I only want one subdomain to appear to be added. Say I wanted example.com/folder/page.php to be displayed as foo.example.com/folder/page.php, how would I go about doing this? The foo will never change, and it only needs to be for one page. • Is it unprofessional to leave game resources to the open eye?

  I'm still having problems packing my resources, after going through complicated APIs and basically just zip files which are exhausting my brain, I thought I could also pack the game with the resources visible to the human eye, in a simple folder. Would that be unprofessional? Personally, I've never even seen games do that, it would basically mean that the player could just edit whatever he wants in the game, like go in map1.txt and add an X somewhere to create a wall, or change the player sprite to a pony in MS PAINT.

• I want to be able to load Ubuntu from the Windows Boot Loader using EasyBCD, but Ubuntu won't show up

  I am trying to create a dual-boot environment between Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 14.04. I installed Ubuntu on a separate partition successfully, and I am following these instructions: Is it possible to boot Ubuntu using the Windows bootloader? However, when I restart my computer, Windows Bootloader still won't recognize Ubuntu. Does anyone know what could be wrong? EDIT: I can add an Ubuntu entry successfully using EasyBCD, but as soon as I restart my computer, the entry disappears.

• Why are effect-less functions executed?

  All the languages I know of would execute something like: i = 0 while i < 100000000 i += 1 ..and you can see it take a noticeable amount of time to execute. Why though, do languages do this? I went into Edit User Profile Security and made sure that ZRTP was enables and that all boxes were checked. I asked a friend to do the same and then we called each other. There is no immediate indication that I can see that the call is secure. How can I tell if ZRTP is enabled in a Twinkle SIP call?

• Syncing apt-get installations between multiple computers

  Is there a way to synchronize my installations (and removals) between multiple PCs? Preferably with dropbox - since I'm already using that to keep my files in sync. Edit: I thought of an alias for the apt-get install and apt-get remove commands that stores the parameters to a file (one for install, one for remove) and another command that reads all the entries in the file and executes the respective command.   There are so many funny quirks in SSIS 2012 that I have to list them, to save other people from the misery. If you want to move items to one direction, make sure you "grab" the opposite side.  For example, you want a whole bunch of data flows to move up, select them all and grab the lowest item. When you drag the arrow to connect Precendence Constraint, make sure you drop it on the area of target that has no text, otherwise, it thinks you want to edit the text and change the target item layout
