• How to import Exchange calendars in Google Calendar (No Desktop Outlook)

  I would like to import my calendar from my company Exchange 2010 server as a new calendar in my private Google account. The primary use is to easy my planning when at home with my laptop. I already have access to both the Google and Exchange calendars on my Android phone, but the size of the screen makes it rather difficult to plan anything serious. • KVM Switch for a mac and a Windows (XP or 7) machine to share VDU

  Have a MacPro (snow leopard) connected to an (windows standard) Asus 25" monitor via a DVI--VGA adapter. Now the boss wants me to work from home, so I want to share my Asus display with a Windows XP laptop. No doubt once my wife sees this, she will want to do the same thing, but with a Windows 7 laptop. So what I would like, I think, is your recommendations for a KVM switch (or better solution) that allows the Mac and a (windows 7 or windows xp) laptop to share the Asus display. Bonus marks if they can share Apple keyboard and magic mouse, but am quite happy to use separate mouse keyboards. The MacPro is the one that is always connected, the laptops come and go. Any ideas? • What would cause a single working website to not work on 1 out of 5 devices on a network?

  There is a specific website that loads up without problem on all machines on my network (both wired and wireless) except one laptop. This laptop is a Windows 7 machine that was just recovered using the recovery partition, so it is fresh. The site will not load in Firefox 3.6 or IE 8. The website is http://www.weightwacthers.com The site loads fine on my desktop, iPhone, and Droid, but not the laptop. In all my years in this business I've honestly never seen this happen. Also, 'Is it down for me or everyone' reports that it is indeed only me. What would cause this to happen?

• Battery notification always showing 'xx% remaining' with Windows 7 on an acer Aspire 5590

  My battery level always shows up as something like 55% remaining or 63% remaining ...etc despite that it is in fact charging. Additionally it doesn't go any further than 80% remaining even if I keep it in charge forever. This leads me to a side annoying effect which is that I cannot proceed to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 as its installer requires the laptop to be plugged with a power cord. My laptop is plugged with the power cord but because of the above issue (it doesn't display anything else than the xx% remaining) Windows thinks that the laptop is using its battery and that the power cord is disconnected. I have installed the original acer ePower Management tool that let you configure the power scheme... etc, I was hoping that this would help me circumvent the 80% issue but it doesn't.

• External speakers no longer working

  We have a Windows Vista laptop. On Monday we hooked it up to external speakers, as we always do, and they worked fine. On Tuesday, we did the same but then the speakers did not work. Weirdly, the laptop internal speaker does work. Nothing was changed between Monday and Tuesday. What happened and, more importantly, how can it be fixed? BTW we tested with other speakers (and cable) and that didn't help. So it seems like a laptop issue.

• Best way to "stream" music / video to my HDTV from my pc?

  My requirement is simple: I have a laptop and a desktop at home that I often use for various media (music, videos etc.) and I want to know what the best (quickest, most seamless, best quality etc) solution for sending this media to my HDTV (and connected sound system). An example would be I'm listening to some music from youtube on my laptop in my living room and want to quickly send it to my tv (which has a sound system) so that I don't have to listen to it through my laptop. I mainly use linux (but a windows dependent solution would be ok too if its the best option). I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Oh and a wireless solution would be best.

• Windows 8.1 will not boot after upgrading from Windows 8 on my PC

  I have not found a fix. After running the Windows 8.1 Update from the store my computer will not boot unless In insert my recovery USB drive and try to repair. (The repair fails.) However after I power of the PC and remove the USB drive. The PC will boot correctly once. I would leave the PC on but it shuts it self off at night. (And yes I have checked my power profile, it is set to never.) The only thing I have found online is a possibly corrupt video driver. I uninstalled the video driver reboot and it did not fix the issue. Anybody have any suggestions? The PC is a HP EliteBook 8730w laptop. I had no issues with Windows 8 or the Windows 8.1 preview.

  My windows 7 samsung i5 second gen laptop started hanging all of a sudden. I recovered it to factory image, it ran fine for 1 day then again started hanging. When i shut it down, i didnt start, it showed the msg bootmgr missing, then i used my samsung recovery cd and installed windows 7 home. When again i shut it down it didnt bootup. Just a blank screen. System repair is also not able to repair. Then i installed windows 7 ultimate. Aftr shutting it down it again ahowed the blank screen.. cant think of any other option, I am in a fix. Could anyone tell me what to so. Machine is just one yr old.

• Windows 7/8 can't connect to an N Router

  I have a router running OpenWRT backfire, with N and A/B/G being broadcast. A linux laptop, and a Mac laptop can see the N network and connect to it (or at least they could last weekend). But there is now a Windows 7 Desktop with a B/G/N wireless card, and a Windows 8 Laptop with a B/G/N wireless card that can't see the N network only the B/G broadcast. The B/G and N have different SSID's and Encryption ( WEP and WPA2 PSK respectively ). The N SSID isn't even visible. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot further?   Let's get straight to the point. This is my fictive network architecture: My question is: Would it be possible for Laptop B to intercept traffic sent and received by Laptop A? Please note that B only has WiFi access and no physical control over Router B. Furthermore, Router A and B create different wireless networks with different encryption keys. If both shared the same wireless network or Laptop B had LAN-access to Router B, the answer would be trivial, but I'm not sure how the answer turns out in this scenario :-/ Thanks for your valuable help!

• Cloning Fresh Windows 7 with external HDD, DVD or CDs?

  I want to create Windows installation disk (not necessarily CD) from my Windows 7 Pro laptop, not sure what it actually means here. The material is about 50-60GB, requiring about 12 pcs of 5GB disk (not going to happen, too much work to use them later). I have the Windows serial on the laptop bottom and this is so-called firm -laptop (no idea what it actually mean, better warranty and some instant support thing apparently). Now how to do the clone with external material such as DVDs? how can I create mock-windows-installation medium or some real windows-installation medium? I am now not sure whether Windows offers W7 -installations medium online, well my W -peer mentioned some MSDAA -something.   i'm using laptop and PC with single HDD with full disk encryption. I know how works truecrypt on single drive because i use it everyday. My second laptop has 2 HHDs. My question is how to encrypt first 128GB SSD and second 1TB HDD in same way. I have multiple applications installed on second drive so i want to have it accessible during boot in ex. Steam in installed on second drive and it starts with windows. How to do it? can i encrypt two drives in truecrypt and unlock it via password before boot? • Sync 2 hard drives without being connected at the same time (Mac)

  Hi, I've got a 2TB hard drive at home and one at work. I use my laptop to connect to them. I want these 2 hard drives to be exactly the same. But these hard drives will never be connected at the same time. Is this possible? It means that my laptop needs to track the changes AND copy all new files to its hard drive temporarily. My laptop should act as an intermediate between the 2 external hard drives. There are lots of syncing options if both drives are connected at the same time, but there seems to be no solution for my specific problem. Any ideas? FYI: I use a Mac.

• USB 3.0 hub; what can it power?

  I own an Asus UX31A laptop, equipped with 2 USB 3.0 ports. I would like to connect several USB devices to one of these ports, using a USB 3.0 hub. 1) Am I correct in assuming the Asus "USB Charger+" commercial blurb corresponds to the USB 3.0 standard "Battery Charging Specification 1.2", and furthermore inferring that the laptop can deliver 1.5A through a USB port? 2) Does a powered external USB 3.0 hard drive draw on the USB power lines? 3) I would like to connect the aforementionned drive, an android phone, and a 200mA rated optical mouse to an unpowered USB 3.0 hub, itself plugged into the laptop.   When I connect my laptop to a projector, it shows everything that is going-on on my computer. However, I want want to show only certain things to users ( like videos, images, etc ). It would be good if my mouse-motions could be hidden as well. • Hard disk failure. Can I recover my "move"d folders?

  I am in the process of moving all my files from an old laptop to new one. I just moved 11gb of data from my old laptop to a hard drive (external) and then upon moving it out to the new hard drive, the hard drive is getting a CRC (Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check). Now I am looking for a solution to recover the files that I moved on my old laptop (not the external). I understand they they are just marked for potential overwriting to free up space. I was getting ready to test out GetDataBack, but it says to install it on a healthy windows and use the recover-needed drive as an external. However, I don't want to turn off my computer without first getting the okay since it is in a "moved" state. Please help! What can I do to recover the Moved files. I haven't touched the computer since it has been moved. What can I use to recover them?

• Why does MS-DOS tells me I need extended memory and thinks a file is read-only? [closed]

  I am running a .COM file on a MS-DOS 6.22 boot USB drive When I run it on my laptop the program works fine but when I run it on my desktop I get error 40 not enough extended memory. When I go to the memory tab in GUI I try to switch none to auto, but I get the error "This file might be read-only". It's not read-only, when I put it on my desktop I change the settings and the new settings are in a .pif I can't run .pif in MS-DOs so I need to Change the .exe not create a .pif. Change the amount of extended memory all files have on my MS-DOS. On my laptop there is no memory tab, the only real difference is my laptop is x64. Thanks for helping but I think teh x64 bit has nothing to do with it I dont eve nthink iits in 64 bit mode because Im using a boot USB. What i need to is listed above, thanks for helping.

• A Windows Update Prevented Live Discs From Working?

  First off I'll state my system specs. Acer Aspire M1100 Windows Vista Home Basic 32bit OEM 2 Gigs of DDR2 ram 160Gig hard drive 2.7Ghz AMD Athlon 64 processor ATI Radeon X1250 Graphics card A few days ago my computer did automatic updates and updated windows defender to KB915597 (Definition 1.135.415.0), After which when shutting down and starting up I would receive BSOD with the information BUGCODE_USE_DRIVER and 0x000000FE (0x00000008, 0x00000006, 0x00000006, 0x877330000) upon where my computer would not start up with any USB devices plugged in and it always require me to run startup repair before it started. Upon when I first started it up and was able to fully boot windows, I had no use of the mouse so I was unable to install the fix that the windows solutions center brought up on my screen, so I restarted again and installed the fix hoping it would cease the problem, it did not. Upoon starting up after installing the fix and restarting I was confronted with the BSOD 0x000000FE (0x00000008, 0x00000006, 0x00000006, 0x83291000) at which I found the startup repair could not fix the problem and I restored, as I most like should have in the first place. After going through that I read that simply installing the latest defender version from the microsoft site had fixed this problem for others, so I did that, to find I still received the BSOD's. So in a attempt to find a fix to the problem I went to the microsoft answers site to try to find a way to fix the problem, there I was told to simply disable defender and reboot to see if that fixed the problem, upon doing this my computer would no longer even startup, when I boot normally I get to just when the loading screen finishes and then my computer restarts and when I run startup repair, it runs for about 15 seconds and then my computer restarts as well. I have tried running ubuntu live discs in order to simply access the drive and simply copy and paste the 2 month old physical backup I have of my C drive to the C drive, but whenever I run the live OS when it gets to the end of the load screen and is about to boot, the computer again restarts, yet if I put in a gparted disc, I am able to boot it fully, although it does not give me access to the file system just partition managing and when I attempt to access the internet through it, the computer once again restarts. So my question is, how could the update and what has happened prevent me from running the live OS's properly?

• Do I have to reinstall Mac OS in case something goes wrong during a Windows Boot Camp install?

  I have a Macbook laptop running Snow Leopard, there's absolutely no information on the laptop, just a few unimportant files on it, I wanted to use Boot Camp Assistant (version 3) to create a partition and install Windows on it to run Windows alongside Mac OS. My CD/DVD drive doesn't work at all so I'm gonna have to mount Windows on a USB stick and install it from there. My question is, when I start Boot Camp it asks me to back up my files but I have nothing to back up, I was just wondering, in case I go through with the Windows install and something goes wrong do I have to reinstall Snow Leopard? My Snow Leopard install DVD can't be read by the laptop that's why I ask, I wouldn't know what to do if I had to reinstall it.

  I am running ghost 2003 command -fdsp, but once we have cloned the image and restored it onto exactly the same make and model machine, we are force to run win7 setup and run a repair which fixes the boot menu, I want to prevent this requirement to fix the problem, any suggestions besides the obvious of using Windows AIK tools, new versions of ghost/clonzilla. I want to prevent the problem in the first place, it's 1 partition only, on a levano workstation m82 with UEFI and a 100mb system reserved partition. Windows Boot Manager screen and states: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2.Choose your language settings, and then click "Next." 3.Click "Repair you computer." • Displaying X11 Apps on Windows 7

  I installed a product called xming, a light weight X11 server product on Windows 7 laptop. From remote RHEL system I redirected display to Win7 laptop then launched X11 GUI app. I was not able to launch X11 apps and have them appear on laptop display as intended. To fix it I added -ac to the properties of xming launch desktop icon. I been searching through Windows and xming docs but can't find explanation. My guess is it is like xhost + on unix that allows connections from anybody. Can anybody explain why this worked?

• Windows 7: Shared folder over wifi working for ONLY "Guests"

  Hi, I have a desktop and a laptop connected to same wifi router. Desktop is connected with wire and laptop with wifi. Both the system runs windows 7 and are on the same workgroup. I have shared some folders on desktop and can view the shared folder list on laptop under "network places". But when I try to open a folder, a prompt appears for username and password. When I enter BOTH username and password, It does not authenticate when I enter ONLY username, I get:- "Windows cannot access \WIn71\Setups you do not have permission to access ..." Now to get around this message I have to give access to "Guests" group on my desktop shared folder. Cant seem to figure out why It cant authenticate username with password. And giving access to "Guests" does not sounds safe!
