  I am using .pngs for my textures and am using a virtual file system in a .zip file for my game project. This means my textures are compressed and decompressed twice. What are the solutions to this double compression problem? One solution I've heard about is to use .tgas for textures, but it seems ages ago, since I've heard that. Another solution is to implement decompression on the GPU and, since that is fast, forget about the overhead.

I've searched Google and found some forums that talk about the concept of swapping buffers, but I haven't seen any that show any type of source code (specifically Panda3D/C++). I'd like to try and stay away from using pure OpenGL code and work it through Panda3D, but if I have no other choice, then I'll have to go with OpenGL coding.

  Ubuntu 12.04 Xfce4 On my previous Ubuntu distro, when I double clicked scripts I got a little dialogue window that asked me if I wanted to run the script as a program or run it in terminal. Similar to this window: Since upgrading, I have never seen that window. I have ensured that the option to 'Allow executing as a program is enabled' and the script works if I run it through terminal. I simply just don't get the prompt. Any ideas?

  I have some buttons on my WPF UI and I also need to choose files from time to time. I kept noticing strange problems where when I double-click an item in the file dialog, a button on the main UI would also get clicked. After experimenting, it seems that if you line up an item in the file dialog with a button behind it on the main UI and double click to select the file, it will single-click the button behind it as well. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just a freak bug with the way I have my UI laid out?

  Is it possible to detect if an ascii character belongs to Asian double byte or Cyrillic character sets? Perhaps specific code ranges? I've googled, but not finding anything at first glance. There's an RSS feed I'm tapping into that has the locale set as 'en-gb'. But there are some Asian double byte characters in the feed itself - which I need to handle differently. Just not sure how to detect it since the meta locale data is incorrect. I do not have access to correct the public feed.

  Short question, why do Assert.AreEqual(1.0, double.NaN, 0.0) pass when Assert.AreEqual(1.0, double.NaN) do not? Is it an error in MSTest or am I missing something here? Best regards, Egil. Update: Should probably add, that the reason behind my question is, that I have a bunch of unit tests that unfortunately passed due to the result of some linear algebraic matrix operation being NaN or (+/-)Infinity. The unit tests are fine, but since Assert.AreEqual on doubles with a delta will pass when actual or/and expected are NaN or Infinity, I was left to believe that the code I was testing was correct.

  Hi, I'd like to make a textbox that accepts only numbers, but not integer, but rather double. I've read here about e.Handled = Not Char.IsDigit(e.KeyChar) and it works, but again, it can be used only for integer, since it declines decimal point. Another thing I've read here is If Not Double.TryParse(TextBox2.Text, value) Then .... and it would work fine, except that it allows only decimal comma instead of point. I don't know whether it's because of my location settings (Hungary, we use commas instead of points), but I don't have any other idea how to solve my problem, and the SQL server I send my data uses decimal point. • Make middle-click close window(s) on unity launcher

  I am looking for a way to achieve this on my 12.04 ubuntu system: Clicking with the middle mouse button on one of the unity launcher icons will close the related windows/programs. At present a middle-button-click causes (when possible) another instance of the same programme to start. There is nothing wrong with that, only I use this less often than I need a quick way to close some programs. The current way is a lengthy 2-click way. Right-click on the icon Select "quit" in the unity-setting in the ccsm (compiz config settings manager) some few things can be changed in the ubuntu unity plugin already. there are other reporst about settings being done in dconf and gconf. What chances are there to tweak the behavior as described above? In Firefox I am used to close tabs by "middle-clicking" on the tabs. In GLX/Cairo-dock I also associate "middle-click" with the close the program. When using ubuntu unity launcher I keep on mistakingly opening new windows, when indeed I wanna close the respective window(s). :(

  I need to know how can I enable mouse click on a button when I have a MouseEvent listener for the stage. I have a MClip associated with the mouse cursor: Mouse.hide(); scope.startDrag(true); And an MouseEnvet on the stage: stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, FunctionXYZ); When I try to click on any button they don't assume the function that I create for those buttons... for example, button for fullscreen, exit, help, etc...   I'm working in java with LWJGL and trying to double all my pixels. I'm trying to draw in an area of 800x450 and then stretch all the frame image to the complete 1600x900 pixels without them getting blured. I can't figure out how to do that in java, everything I find is in c++... A hint would be great! Thanks a lot. EDIT : I've tried drawing to a texture created in opengl by setting it to the framebuffer, but I can't find a way to use glGenTextures() in java... so this is not working... also I though about using a shader but I would not be able to draw only in the smaller region...

• One click access to bookmarked files?

  On my Windows machine with just one click I can launch favourite or bookmarked files that I use on a daily basis, which is a great time-saver. Is there any way to do this with 11.10 Unity? Ideally I would like to right-click on an icon in the launcher and have a list of files appear that I could then left-click to launch, but I'd be happy for any simple solution. Please note that I am not referring to recently used files lists - these do not work at all because the bookmarked file will always drop off the bottom of any recently used file list.

• No lock screen when the right click menu is open

  I just found that the lock screen on my laptop does not show up when the right click menu is open. I discovered this when I pressed the right click button accidentally while closing the lid and the laptop went to sleep, but the lock screen never showed up when I opened the lid again. I am also not able to lock the system manually(with ctrl+alt+L) when the right click menu is open. Is this by design or is it a bug? I would assume that the screen should be locked automatically when the computer goes to sleep, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone have any suggestions? My specs are: Dell Vostro 1500, Ubuntu 12.10

  Let's say that you have multiple firefox windows open. What you see happen is an additional arrow points to it's icon in the launcher. However, if you double click the icon, it displays all of the windows in a spread out fashion, similar to the behaviour from pushing Super + W, but only for that program group. Is it possible to make this window spreading behaviour occur with alt-tab? PS: No idea what tags I should use, or if the language (jargon) in the title or question is appropriate.

  I have a website in which i use tabs to navigate between pages. For example, page a displays A as an active tab and B and C background tabs. If the visitor gets to the website via page B, i also would like to display to page d, but not a and c. Question: I know i can just create index2 for b for example, so when the visitor gets to b from a, i display a,b,c and index1 when visitor gets to b from d for example. Is that a bad practice? I know double content isn't good, but in which other way can i or should i approach this problem? The tab navigation i designed uses < li and id tag do display active tab, defined in the < body tag.
