  • Are the *A Win32 API calls still relevant?

    I still see advice about using the LPTSTR/TCHAR types, etc., instead of LPWSTR/WCHAR. I believe the Unicode stuff was well introduced at Win2k, and I frankly don't write code for Windows 98 anymore. (Excepting special cases, of course.) Given that I don't care about Windows 98 (or, even less, ME) as they're decade old OS, is there any reason to use the compatibility TCHAR, etc. types? Why still advise people to use TCHAR - what benefit does it add over using WCHAR directly?

    Hi, I have an iPhone app accessing an ASP.NET Webservice for data. Since I'm building both the ASP.NET end and the iPhone part of the app, and we'll shortly be publishing it in the Appstore, I'd like to know what security checks I need to make. The basic flow of the program (without divulging too much info about it) is as follows - . Login (Enter Username, pass on the app) . Primary screen where the data is loaded from a webservice and presented . And post data back after a few updates by the user I'm using POST to send the data to the Webservice via HTTPS. I'm sanitizing the inputs, checking for length of the inputs, but that's the limit of my knowledge as far as security goes. Any other tips are greatly appreciated! Edit: I should probably add that our service needs to be subscribed to separately and the iPhone component of it cannot be used alone. So the average user will not have login credentials. And the app itself has healthcare data in it, so I'd rather not have anyone trying attacks from my login page. Thanks, Teja.

Using the ProjectService.getVersions method we can get an Array of RemoteVersion objects but these RemoteVersion objects do not contain the description field. http://docs.atlassian.com/rpc-jira-plugin/latest/com/atlassian/jira/rpc/soap/service/ProjectService.html#getVersions(com.opensymphony.user.User, java.lang.String) Will I have to expose my own web web service via a Jira plugin to get this?

I can't for the life of me find it again... In particular, I need to get the location of the "All Users" (shared) "Application Data" directory.   • Using SDK 3.2 API in Universal iPhone/iPad application

    I have a project configured (I think) to produce Universal binaries. The base SDK is set to 3.2 and the Deployment Target is set to 3.1. Target Device Family is iPhone/iPad and the architecture is armv6 armv7. I had a few questions about how this Universal binary thing really works: 1) When I want to submit an app binary for review, what configuration should I set as the build target? If I set it as "Device - 3.1" I get a warning which says "warning: building with Targeted Device Family" that includes iPad('1,2') requires building with the 3.2 or later SDK". However, if I build with SDK 3.2, will it still run on iPhones with OS 3.1? What's the right configuration for device and architecture (arm6/arm7)? 2) How do I test the scenario above (built with SDK 3.2, but installed on a device running OS 3.1)? If I build with SDK 3.2, when I try to install it on a phone with OS 3.1, I get an error saying that the phone's OS isn't updated. Thanks!

    I have discovered through trial and error that the MATLAB engine function is not completely thread safe. Does anyone know the rules? Discovered through trial and error: On Windows, the connection to MATLAB is via COM, so the COM Apartment threading rules apply. All calls must occur in the same thread, but multiple connections can occur in multiple threads as long as each connection is isolated. From the answers below, it seems that this is not the case on UNIX, where calls can be made from multiple threads as long as the calls are made serially.

    Currently i'm having a project which requires to set placemarks and link them with polylines (i suppose), lines which have an arc to it, with properly segmented portions to the arc. I've been able to generate kml file with jak library. But i can't produce more den 1 placemark in the kml file.     Hey guys I get this error on my wordpress blog hosted on my server each time i search for plugins or try to upgrade wordpress and on the dashboard. I have tried changing the timeout from 5 to 30 in the http.php file in wp-includes. This did NOT help. My blog works perfectly fine. This problem is really annoying as I have to manuall copy plugins and themes and upgrades.

    Hello guys! So, here is what I want to do. I have a model Staff, that has a foreign key to the User model. I also have a model Match that has a foreign key to the User model. I want to select how much Matches every Staff has. I don't know how to do that, so far I only got it working for the User model. From Staff, it will not allow to annonate Match. This is what is working right now User.objects.annotate(ammount=Count("match")).filter(Q(ammount__gt=0)).order_by("ammount") And this is what I wanted to do Staff.objects.annotate(ammount=Count("match")).filter(Q(ammount__gt=0)).order_by("ammount") And by the way, is there any way to filter the matches? I don't know what my_auth_callback should look like though. I suspect it will have to post my login information to flickr. Could I do the get_token_part_one step just once manually perhaps and then re-use it in get_token_part_two?

    I am looking for a way to connect to a MS Analysis Services OLAP cube, run MDX queries, and pull the results into Python. In other words, exactly what Excel does. Is there a solution in Python that would let me do that? Someone with a similar question going pointed to Django's ORM. As much as I like the framework, this is not what I am looking for.
