• Setting default language for iPhone app on first run

  I'm developing an application that should support two languages: English and French. However because English translation is not done yet we want to deploy it in French only and later on add English translation later on. The problem is that I don't want to strip English language out of my code since some parts are already done, there are different NIBs for that language etc. Instead I'd just want english language to be temporary disabled in my app. What I did is I put this code as the first instruction of - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [defaults setObject:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"fr", nil] forKey:@"AppleLanguages"]; [defaults synchronize]; It works fine except for one thing. When you launch the application for the first time after installation it's still in English. That's probably because AppleLanguages preference was not yet set for it. After I quit the application and start it again it's being displayed correctly in French. Does anyone knows a fix so that French language was applied also on the first run?

• MKReverseGeocoder only showing one placemark

  Hi, Something is wrong with my code. It is only showing the final placemark when I try to show the Street and City on one line. I don't know what I am doing wrong (a beginner problem most likely). • Google Drive Update keeps throwing an error when I try to save a thumbnail

  The Base64 string checks out fine. I was able to export it to another website and download it again as my image. When I try to do an update using the Drive Javascript api, it just keeps returning this error: Invalidvaluefor:Notavalidbase64bytestring I also true making the string URL safe. Per this page https://google-api-client-libraries.appspot.com/documentation/drive/v2/python/latest/drive_v2.files.html Am I doing something wrong here, the documentation says send Base64, the string is valid and, the string is intact throughout the process, but Google will not accept it? I am using the javascript api, I think there is maybe a bug sending the thumbnail using the javascript api.   I asked a similar question to this earlier this week but I'm still not understanding how to get a list of all installed applications and then pick one to run. I've tried: Intent intent = new Intent(ACTION_MAIN); intent.addCategory(CATEGORY_LAUNCHER); and this only shows application that are preinstalled or can run the ACTION_MAIN Intent type. I also know I can use PackageManager to get all the installed applications, but how do I use this to run a specific application? Thanks

  hi all, i've a little problem, i've add a default.png in my app and it work. I've modify my file, delete file and reference and upload my new file. On my iphone the image does not appear, only some second of blackscreen and after my app start. In the simulator the splashscreen appear. I've try to delete my app on iphone, make a clean all and rebuild & install but nothing...   I'm developing an iPhone application. I have an EXC_BAD_ACCESS that occurs only in the release target; when I build the debug target the exception does not occur. However, when I set the NSZombieEnabled environment variable to YES, I still get the EXC_BAD_ACCESS with no further information.   So if I have a store of parents children and the parent has a one to many relationship to children (parent.children) and they all have first names. Now, on the initial fetch for parents I can specify a sort descriptor to get them back in order of first name but how can I request the children in order? I setup a translate animation and it works by itself. When I combine them I get an imageview that makes a big spiral.   Hi guys, I'm creating a uitableview with custom cells which I created in Interface Builder. There are currently three cells (UITableViewCell). I have a UITableView which is on the view. The code I have is fairly standard, but I cannot work out how to actually SHOW the three custom cells. I am using the cellForRowAtIndexPath method. My aim is to get a grouped uitableview which shows like the following Item - Name Settings - alert - time So the above indented view should be my grouped uitableview. The problem is, I cannot get it to show using code. The uitableview will ALWAYS be this. I am trying to replicate the settings style screen... so I do not have any arrays to display the uitableview cells. How do I actually display my three cells?   Hi! I have UIScrollView with lots of UIImageView inside. In the loadView method I assign some temporary image for each of subview UIImageView images and starts several threads to async download images from internet. Each thread downloads and assign images as follows: NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:URL]; UIImage *img = [UIImage imageWithData:data]; img_view.image = img; Here is the problem - I expects picture will changed after each image downloaded by I can see only temporary images until all images will downloads. UIScrollView still interact while images downloads - I can scroll temporary images inside it and see scrollers and nothing blocks run loop, but downloaded images doesn't updates.. What I tried to do: Call sleep() in the download thread -- not helps. Call setNeedsDisplay for each ImageView inside ScrollView and for ScrollView -- not helps. What's wrong ? Thanks. Update. I tried some experiments with number of threads and number of images to download. Now I'm sure -- images redraws only when thread finished. For example - if I load 100 images with one thread -- picture updates one time after all images downloads. If I increase number of threads to 10 -- picture updates 10 times -- 10 images appears per update. One more update. I fixed problem by staring new thread from the downloading threads each time one image downloaded and exit current thread (instead of download several images in one thread in the cycle and exit thread only when all downloaded). Obviously it's not a good solution and there must be right approach.

  I have successfully gotten JmDNS working on Android 2.1 testing on a Motorola Droid by using MulticastLock, but recently got an HTC Incredible as second test device, and JmDNS discovery doesn't work at all. I should mention that broadcasting a service still works and everything appears to run normally, but serviceAdded() never gets called. Does anyone have thoughts on why this might be? I was thinking it might be a permission issue, but I don't get any exceptions...

• Bug in XCode debugger?

  I am working on an iPhone app which is using an external library for which I have the source. During debugging some of the objects are listed as 0x0 in the debugger but the app runs fine. Also, some of the objects addresses point to the wrong thing. These symbols are in the external library. The addresses are fine if I am tracing through a file actually in the external library. Does anyone have suggestions how to stop this behavior?
