• Nerd Dinner - labels for textfields are broken

  Hello. I am trying to learn ASP.NET (since I know C#) so I have decided to follow Nerd Dinner Tutorial. I am having trouble in part 5 of tutorial. I exactly followed tutorial, even pasted whole code to my visual studio, but when I was supposed to create EDIT VIEW, my result was different than one in tutorial. Please take a look at following pictures and think, where might problem be. I did not customise anything, everything is default. • Test For CSS3 Radial Gradient Vendor Syntax

  I'm having an issue where I'm trying to update the background gradient of an element with JavaScript based on values I specify. I tried this route: elem.style.backgroundImage = '-webkit-gradient(radial, '+x+' '+y+', 0, '+x+' '+y+', 800, from(#ccc), to(#333)), -moz-radial-gradient('+x+'px '+y+'px, circle cover, #ccc 0, #333 100%)'; Since Webkit and Gecko have two different syntaxes for CSS3 gradients, I need to specify both. However, the above code doesn't work. It works if I only have just the Gecko syntax or just the Webkit syntax, not both. I think you can check for CSS gradient support, but my question is, is there a way to check which syntax needs to be used without browser sniffing? Keep in mind that I need to set my gradients this way since the x and y coordinates of the gradient change dynamically. Hope this makes sense, thanks.

• Stored Procedure with ALTER TABLE

  I have a need to sync auto_increment fields between two tables in different databases on the same MySQL server. The hope was to create a stored procedure where the permissions of the admin would let the web user run ALTER TABLE [db1].[table] AUTO_INCREMENT = [num]; without giving it permissions (That just smells of SQL injection). My problem is I'm receiving errors when creating the store procedure. Is this something that is not allowed by MySQL? • Will news ticker using overflow:hidden cause Google to see site as spam?

  In the hope of tempting Googlebot with fresh content, I've implemented a homepage news ticker which displays the 20 most recent headlines on our site. The implementation I have chosen is a <ul> with each headline being a <li> Initially all the <li> elements have no style but Javascript kicks in on page load and gives all but one of them a display="style:none" attribute. Javascript then displays each of the other 19 headlines in a loop. So far so good. However, in order to prevent a visually unplesant page load where the 20 items display and then immediately collapse, I am using overflow:hidden on the <ul> element. Anyone got a view on what Googlebot is likely to make of this? Does the fact that I'm using overflow:hidden make the content look like spam?

I having problem with append() when the textbox is focus the second time. var i = 1; $('textarea').live('focusin', function(){ $(this).keydown(function(e){ var code = e.which; if(code === 13) { i++; $('#linenumbers').append('<li>' + i + '</li>');} }); This code will append on tag for each number, 2,3,4,5 (the first li is allread added, that why i=1) But when the user focus out and then focus in again it add two li foreache keydown, 6 and 7 = first keydown 8 and 9 = second keydown third focus it add 3 numbers, and so on.. How can i check that i just add one li each time you hit enter. Hope you get the problem!

• Need help in understanding the mapping of user-space send, sendto, sendmsg to kernel-space sendmsg

  Hello, I am trying to implement my own transport layer protocol in Linux for an experiment. I am going to use socket interface and add my protocol using sock_register. For the proto_ops i can see that the parameters for the sendmsg and recvmsg are (struct kiocb *iocb, struct socket *sock, struct msghdr *msg, size_t len, int flags). But there are three types of user api's send, sendto, sendmsg. Of these three only sendmsg contains a parameter for msghdr. I find that the other two api's are incompatible with the parameters supplied by the kernel to my kernel-space sendmsg function. So what happens when we use send and sendto user-space api's? • Glew in VS 2010: unresolved external symbol __imp__glewInit

  I am learning OpenGL by following the redbook. When I come to around page 90, I need use glGenBuffers(); Then I need install "glew". By following the steps in www.cs.uiowa.edu/~cwyman/classes/common/howto/winGLUT.html I download glew.zip from glew.sourceforge.net/ and unpack the files. I put glew.h in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\Include and put glew32.lib in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\Lib and put glew32.dll in C:\Windows\System32. After that, I build my project in VS 2010 and in Linker-input, I add dependencies glew32.lib. But when I build it, I have error unresolved external symbol _imp_glewInit I spend whole day to search solutions, but did not find one. Hope someone can help me with this.

Security is a major concern and I'd like to learn from some of the popular PHP CMS's like Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc. What are some security flaws or vulnerabilities that they have they had in the past that I can avoid in my application and what strategies can I use to avoid them? What are other issues that I need to be concerned with that they perhaps didn't face as a vulnerability because they handled it correctly from the start? What additional security features or measures would you include? Please be as specific as possible. • Loading...Please wait for UIWebView - iPhone

  Hi guys, In Safari and other browsers, there is a bar that would indicate the percentage of the loading progress, and I, myself, trying to implement something similiar on iPhone, when loading some content in UIWebView, I would like the app to indicate the percentage of the page being loaded. I tried some google search and realize we could use NSURLConnection to read only the header and get the Content-Length ( but don't know how to, I read the Apple's NSURLConnection docs but probably I missed something ... ). And the size ( kb ) which UIWebView had loaded, seem like UIWebView don't support it for the public API... I hope this would be complete in some other ways than I thought, so if you have any ideas, please throw it out, thanks for your patient reading. P.S : I could just show an Activities Indicator for users with the long loading progress actions of the UIWebView but I just want to go further with the loading percentage bar :). Regards.

• In terminal, merging multiple folders into one.

  I have a backup directory created by WDBackup (western digital external HD backup util) that contains a directory for each day that it backed up and the incremental contents of just what was backed up. So the hierarchy looks like this: 20100101 My Documents Letter1.doc My Music Best Songs Every First Songs.mp3 My song.mp3 # modified 20100101 20100102 My Documents Important Docs Taxes.doc My Music My Song.mp3 # modified 20100102 ...etc... Only what has changed is backed up and the first backup that was ever made contains all the files selected for backup. What I'm trying to do now is incrementally copy, while keeping the folder structure, from oldest to newest, each of these dated folders into a 'merged' folder so that it overrides the older content and keeps the new stuff. As an example, if just using these two example folders, the final merged folder would look like this: Merged My Documents Important Docs Taxes.doc Letter1.doc My Music Best Songs Every First Songs.mp3 My Song.mp3 # modified 20100102 Hope that makes sense.   I've got a WPF application in C# that starts off with a loading dialog. As expected, a button for the app shows up in the Windows taskbar. I would like to detect right-clicks that might be done to that button. Ultimately, I hope to disable the right-click or simply have the loading dialog regain focus. I've seen that some people use custom libraries and packages (interop, for example) to achieve some Win32 functionality, but I'd personally like to avoid this. Furthermore, these libraries/packages appear to be specific to Windows Forms; I've not seen anything for WPF. Is it impossible to manipulate the taskbar's right-click in WPF?

• Java: How do you access a sub-object of an object with no "getXXX" method to that sub-object

  I'll explain with pictures from Eclipse Debugger I have an Class called "FieldContext", (I can't edit it, it's compiled in the Java OVal API) Within "FieldContext" on the eclipse variable tab are "CompileTimeType" and "field" Q1 Is there a legend for the icons in the variables tab? like what the red box with the "F" means + yellow diamond boxes? Now I want to access the fields inside the "field" object (RedBox) .. preferably "name" But the "FieldContext" does not have a "getField()" method, yet it has a "getCompileTimeType()" method. Q2 So is there anyway to get that field object being a "SerializableField" Class from the "FieldContext"? If eclipse debugger can see/get/edit them then I hope I can do the same in Java.

• Properly trimming PCM data from a ByteArray

  I have a situation where I need to trim a small amount of audio from the beginning of a recorded clip (generally somewhere between 110-150ms, it is an inconsistent amount). I'm recording in 44100 frequency and 16 bitrate. This is the code I'm using: public function get trimmedData():ByteArray { var ba:ByteArray = new ByteArray(); var bitPosition:uint = 44100 * 16 * (recordGap / 1000); bitPosition -= int(bitPosition % 16); //should keep snapped to nearest sample, I hope ba.writeBytes(_rawData, (bitPosition / 8)); return ba; } This seems to work time-wise, but all the recorded audio gets staticy and gross. Is something off about my rounding? This is the first time I've needed to alter raw PCM data so I'm not sure about the finer details of it. Thanks!

  Have a few questions related to adding sounds to my game, specifically intro music (for splash), background music (loop) and button event sounds. Hope you can share your knowledge on this. 1) Should I use compressed sounds or uncompressed sounds? Or perhaps a combination of the two? Are there any limitations on the iPhone hardware that I should be aware of -- for example, the ability to play multiple compressed sounds? 2) What's the best audio format for my purpose? 3) For background music, I am thinking of using AVAudioPlayer.   Hello, i have a inherited from QGraphicsScene and QGraphicsItem to create my own classes. I use Qt 4.6. I want to set a specific opacity on each items of my scene. I use setOpacity : setOpacity method, but its not the result i hope. I want to have for example one item opaque and an other transparent (to see the desktop, or the other application). But if i dont set the opacity of the QGraphicsView to 0.5, i have not the transparancy. And if the QGraphicsView is set to 0.5, the item is not real opaque. What should i do ? Thanks you.

• Display using QtWebKit, whilst parsing xml

  I wish to use QtWebKit to load a url for display, but, that's the easy part, I can do that. What I wish to do is record / log xml as I go. My attention here is to record and database certain details on the fly, by recording those details. My problem is, how to do this all on the fly, without requesting the same url from the server twice, once for the xml, and the second time to view the url. My hope here, is to implement a very fast way of recording set data as the user passes over it. Take for example, rather then have to type out details displayed by a website, I wish to have those details chucked into a database as I the user views the website. Now, I am using QtWebKit, and I have everything pretty much solved viewing wise. I have a loadUrl() routine which calls load(url) inside the qwebview.h The problem is, how do I piggyback xml parsing on top of this?

• What does xp_qv do in SQL Server?

  Last night one of our SQL servers developed some major problems and after a colleague stopped, started, and all the usual things it started checking and rebuilding databases and is now running an extended stored procedure called "xp_qv". The internet seems to be very short of information on what this procedure does or anythign like that so I was hoping somebody here might be able to help. I should add that I assume it is meant to be running so the question isn't "Can I stop it" or anything like that, its just curiosity in what it is doing in the hope that it will help determine how long before things are usable again...

Here is my problem, I need to display the users current street and city as text in my iPhone app (See picture). I have seen many posts on stack overflow and other websites about how to do this but they are all just code examples. As I said before, I am a extreme beginner. I just need to show the MKReverseGeocoder and its output as text in my application. If someone could walk me through how/where to create the ReverseGeocoder and how to make it show up in my application I would be extremely grateful. I have searched for hours trying to find a beginner example but alas I cannot find one that lays it out step by step. I hope this can help me out.

• Reading email content

  Hi, Hope someone may be able to help. What i am looking to do is create a small winform app in c# to read the content of a email from a pop account, and upload key values to a sql automatically. The email format is always the same for each email, eg, First name : Last name : Phone number : etc... Currently the emails are being stored in a pop 3 account however i want a way to reduce having to key the information into the sql by hand. Can anyone advise how i would go about doing this or could recommend some guides? Thanks. Steve
