• Help configuring Mercury mail or similiar with XAMPP to send e-mail outside of localhost

  I'm building a PHP/MySQL driven website for my department at work (installed via XAMPP). I need to be able to send mail to outside e-mail addresses (e.g., Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) using the PHP mail() function. As I see it I have to solutions: Configure the SMTP directive in php.ini to the server running at my work. Configure/run a mail server that can send e-mails outside of localhost (I'm trying Mercury because it comes installed with XAMPP). Here are problems I've come up against: I took a guess at our SMTP server name, and when calling PHP mail(), I get the error SMTP server response: 530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated I can't be sure, however, the SMTP name is correct (I can't get help from our IT guys because of politics). I have tried to use mercury mail. Mercury seems to be picking up the request, but it doesn't want to forward the e-mail to the outside. I keep getting a Temporary error 240 (temporary MX resolution error). I've searched high and low but still can't find a definitive answer on how to send e-mails outside of localhost. Any help is greatly appreciated.

In the past two days: incoming smtp connections with invalid commands from 39,000 unique IPs the IPs come from various ranges all over the world, not just a few networks that I can block the mail server serves users throughout north america, so I can't just block connections from unknown IPs sample bad commands: http://pastebin.com/4QUsaTXT I am not sure what someone is trying to accomplish with this attack, besides annoy me. any ideas what this is about, or how to effectively deal with it?

• Strange behavior of USB HID device

  I have a device with ARM that work as USB HID. It working well on Windows XP x32 sp 2 and sp 3 (USB 2.0, many PCs), on Windows 7 x32 Ultimate (USB 2.0, Lenovo and HP laptops) but do not work on Windows 7 x64 Home Premium sp1 — plugged and unplugged frequently in USB 2.0 with baloon with "unknown device" in system tray and works not well in USB 3.0 port (MSI all-in-one PC), not all programs can detect it. What can cause this problem? Update. I connected my device via USB hub and everything works fine with it.

• My computer is playing audio without any program open

  This is the weirdest thing ever that has happened to my computer (running Windows 7). I haven't installed anything lastly, except lavasoft adware antivirus When my computer stats then audio starts playing, mostly hip hop There is no programs opened. I tried killing all unknown processed, no success. I tried resetting the firewall options of the antivirus, no success. If I disconnect from internet, then it works. The antivirus is not detecting anything. Is somebody is streaming from another house? Is that possible? and making my life impossible. How can I check and stop this?

• Why does the wireless network icon have a red X over it when everything seems to work?

  I booted my almost brand new laptop running Windows 7 this morning and noticed a red X through the wireless networking icon in the system tray. At first I thought something was wrong, but clicking on it shows a good connection to my wireless network. I had no problem getting here to post this question. I'm very new to Windows 7 so I have no idea how to troubleshoot this myself. Is there an actual problem here? Can I fix the icon so it doesn't falsely display an error (I assume that's what the red X means)? Here's what I know: I can get here to post this question. There's at least one unsecured network available that I'm not connected to. I can see a bunch of wireless networks, presumably from my neighbors' houses. There are no other computers turned on in my house right now. The device manager shows no problems with any devices. I can ping my default gateway, DNS, and yahoo.com with no problem.

• How to rename multiple files in multiple folders with 1 command

  We want to rename our *.html files to *.php but (sadly enough) have not enough knowledge to do it with a dos batchfile and/or cmd prompt command. The problem is that each file is in seperat folder and yes talking about 1500+ different folder names. Using wildcards for the files I know is the '*' but using also a wildcard for folders is unknown to me. We probably need to use the (MSDOS) 'FOR' command but there I am stucked. Folder structure we use is: parent-folder/child-folder/grandchild-folder/file.html sample: games/A/game_name/file.html, games/B/game_name/file.html, games/C/game_name/file.html and so on. The parent folder is for all files the same, the child & grandchild folders are different for most files. After renaming these files to .php I assume following in the .htaccess will make a permanent redirect.   I installed Visual Studio 2012 yesterday and during the install my path somehow got screwed up1. Since then, the icons for applications that are part of Windows are the default "unknown" icon, but other icons are fine. The applications that the shortcuts link to launch fine when the icons are clicked on. Taskbar: Start Menu: I have fixed my path, but the icons still show incorrectly. Any ideas on how to flush what appears to be a set of cached icons? 1 Something took a path of A;B;C;D; and turned it into A;B;C;D;A;B;C;D;E;F; - duplicating a large part of it to that point that no more characters were available to type in the edit box in system properties. This had the side-effect of Windows reporting that it couldn't find %windir%.

Here the things: I want to send email to outside by using our exchange server as the mail relay.But when sending the email through the server,it will response "user unknown".To make it worse, it will bounce back all the sent message to my localhost. I've installed SMTP server on my Windows Server 2012 machine. The mail shows up in the mailroot/Queue folder and sits there, eventually getting deposited into Badmail. Now I have AT&T U-verse at home, and a few devices connected to the gateway, including let's call it "My-Server." When I run SmtpDiag from say, datc@... to [email protected] I get SOA serial number match passed, Local DNS (99-135-60-233.lightspeed.bcvloh.sbcglobal.net) & Remote DNS (hotmail.com) tests *not* passed, and ultimately, Connecting to the server failed. Error: 10060. Failed to submit mail to mx2.hotmail.com error. When I set My-Server's IP to static and equal to the external IP, 99.135.60.233, and again run SmtpDiag, I get SOA, Local DNS, and Remote DNS tests passed, but the same 10060 error. Same for yahoo.com, gmail.com, and so forth. Is it my ISP's job to fix this? Some PTR record missing somewhere? Is it at all possible to have a home-based SMTP server? All I want is to test my email code. Perhaps, my IP address is just not "trusted" somehow. Thanks.

• Cant configure DNS properly on centos

  I am on a VPS i must manage my own. I have network problems because in the last days many of my users report they cant enter my site from my domain and seems like Google and Facebook cant either (this never happened before). However i can enter my site without problems and so many other people as well. So i tested by making a php include like this <?php include 'http://mysite.com/somepage.php'; ?> and i get this error: Warning: include(): php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known in I even tried by including content from yahoo.com or facebook and didnt work either. However the includes will work if i use IPs instead of domains. Do i have a DNS problem or something? What can i do to fix it? Assuming that I don't actively try to connect to them or otherwise interact with them, is it possible for the owner of that WAP to know that I was there? I'm asking this in the context of my earlier question: Looking for MACs on the network I was talking with a friend about my newfound ability to detect phones (and other devices with MAC addresses) on the network, and he pointed out that it might be useful to detect unknown phones on the network; I could use that data to track down anyone who was in my house and brought a Wi-Fi phone with them. So, if I set up a logging fake WAP with no security or encryption, can I glean any useful information about the devices that come into the house? Assuming that the thief doesn't actively try to connect...

• Prevent Windows 7 from unpluging External HDD [migrated]

  I have installed Windows 7 as my media server. I pluged in 500GB external HDD via USB. I have changed power plan to Best Performance and changed advenced power settings to never turn off HDD etc. I even yesterday wrote powershell script (create and delete folder on this disk) and I have added it to harmonogram to run every 5 minutes starting from system boot. And nothing! Disk after some time (I realy can't say when) is turning off and Windows show "Unknown Device" in Device Manager. Then only system reboot or disk reboot helps. Any ideas how to prevent Windows 7 from stopping my external HDD? Cheers!

• SNMP - So I have a MIB. Now What?

  I can't seem to get my head wrapped around the purpose of a MIB. I have a collection of ~20 MIB files that were supplied to me by the vendor, but what do I do with them? I also have a few OID's that were supplied by the vendor that don't seem to be valid. When I issue an "snmpget -v1 -c public 192.168.0.123 .1.4.6.3.2.6.2" (assume that's a valid OID), I get an error indicating the variable is unknown. Does this sound like a hardware configuration problem? Do I need to "load" (for lack of better words) the MIB into the device? Unfortunately, the vendor has been completely unresponsive with returning emails to my questions, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I set up a server with Postfix/Dovecot on Linode/Ubuntu 10.04 according to this guide, admittedly I've never done this before. Local mail works just fine, but trying to send email to it from external addresses results in errors like this: Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: <address>@ni-mate.com Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 553 553 Unknown recipient. (state 13). I honestly have no idea what to do or which configuration files/logs anyone needs to see.

• Wireless Disconnects Randomly, then won't reconnect

  Okay, so I have a Gateway laptop, with Windows Vista SP2, and a Linksys-Cisco WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router. When I boot up my laptop, it automatically connects itself to my home network. Then at random times, it disconnects itself from said network. I go to reconnect it, but I get an unknown error and none of Vista's suggestions are working. Sometimes, after 5-10 minutes, it will reconnect itself. I've already tried updating the firmware. I can't install any other firmware, or make a factory reset. My dad owns the router and buys the internet and he won't let me TOUCH it. I can't do ANYTHING to it.

• "Device Not Ready" when attempting to connecting an old (DOS) hard drive to windows 7

  I have an old Western Digital Caviar 2540 hard drive that I am attempting to connect to a Windows 7 machine by using a Bytecc BT-300 USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA Adapter. I'm connecting things in the right order (power, then sata, then usb) and the jumper settings on the drive are at present set to slave, but am still having an issue. I am recieving a message that the drive is not initialized. When I go into Computer Management I can see the drive (as "Disk 5, Unknown, Not Initialized"), but when I attempt to initialize it or right-click and select "Offline" It tells me that "the device is not ready". Is there something that I can to to get around this, connect the drive and copy the data that I need off of this drive? Is there a third party tool available that I can use?

  currently we ran into some issues with our mail server setup. im preparing a list of actions that we should enforce and use in order to maintain a proper email solution within our company. we have around 80 exchange users, and send mass emails out almost on a monthly bases to 20,000 + customers each time.. the checklist i currently have: 1) mcafee mxlogic 'cloud' anti-spam functionality for incoming message. 2) antivirus on each computer in company 3) antivirus on exchange and DNS servers 4) setup SPF record 5) setup DKIM 6) setup domainkey 7) setup senderID 8) submit spf to microsoft, yahoo, etc. for 'whitelist' purposes. 9) configure size limits for messages in exchange to safe numbers 10) i have 2 outside IPs for my email server, incase one gets blacklisted, switch to the backup. 11) my internet site rests on a different ip than the mail server 12) all mass emails for company sent through 3rd party company (listtrak.com) 13) setup domain alias, media, enews, and bounce for the 3rd party mass mail software. 14) verify the setup using [email protected] 15) configure group policy and our opendns.org account to prevent unwanted actions and website viewing mass emails: 1) schedule them to send different amounts at different times (1,000 at 10am, 1,000 at 4pm, 1,000 10am next day).. 2) setup user prefences, decide what they want to receive ect. ( there interests) 3) send a more steady flow of email, maybe 100 a week with top new products instead of 20,000k every other month.. if anyone has suggestions or additions/subtractions to this checklist they are greatly appreciated. thank you

• How can I prevent my computer from waking up accidentally?

  When I put my computer into sleep mode, it will wake up while I'm away from it. There's nothing near the computer that could move the mouse or accidentally press a button and I have no idea what might be causing it. I tried checking what woke it, apparently LASTWAKE only tells me that it has been in sleep mode, not what woke it up. I also couldn't find anything in my Power Options regarding Sleep that seems off. Poking around in the Event Viewer I notice the following: The Power-Troubleshooter event at the top notes the following: The system has returned from a low power state.
