• can i change membership provider GetAllUsers method?

  Hi i am using vb.net and the .net membership provider. i want to bring back a gridview with user account information, like GetAllUsers() does. However i want to only bring back users with certain profile information, that will be users whos profile information matches the selected value in a dropdownlist on the same page. I am using profile provider to record just one extra piece of user information. Can i change or override the GetAllUsers method for this? Adding an extra parameter so its GetAllUsers by Profile. Membership has a FindUsersByName method, i want to do something similar with users by Profile. I am very much a noob with .net programming so i hope i have explained this ok.

• Flowplayer: Clicking on the player forces is to reload.

  Hey everyone, I've got this damn annoying bug (or wrong setting) that makes the player reload whenever it's clicked. It's set to play when you click, so when you click it, it reloads. The circle begins.... The reloading only happens in Firefox. In Safari (and I assume Chrome), the video opens in its own window. Not ideal, but it still plays. • How to Detect Right Click on the Taskbar

  I've got a Windows Forms application in C# that starts off with a loading dialog. As expected, a button for the app shows up in the Windows taskbar. I would like to detect right-clicks that might be done to that button. Ultimately, I hope to disable the right-click or simply have the loading dialog regain focus. I've seen that some people use custom libraries and packages (interop, for example) to achieve some Win32 functionality, but I'd personally like to avoid this. Is it impossible to do without such libraries/packages?

• Adding links to full change forms for inline items in django admin?

  I have a standard admin change form for an object, with the usual StackedInline forms for a ForeignKey relationship. I would like to be able to link each inline item to its corresponding full-sized change form, as the inline item has inlined items of its own, and I can't nest them. I've tried everything from custom widgets to custom templates, and can't make anything work. So far, the "solutions" I've seen in the form of snippets just plain don't seem to work for inlines. I'm getting ready to try some DOM hacking with jQuery just to get it working and move on. I hope I must be missing something very simple, as this seems like such a simple task! Using Django 1.2.

• Designing Web Service Using Ruby on Rails - Mapping ActiveRecord Models

  I've put together a RoR application and would now like to publish a RESTful web service for interacting with my application. I'm not sure where to go exactly, I don't want to simply expose my ActiveRecord models since there is some data on each model that isn't needed or shouldn't be exposed via an API like this. I also don't want to create a SOAP solution. My application is built using Rails 2.3.5 and I hope to move to Rails 3.0 soon after its released. I'm basically looking for a way to map my ActiveRecord models to "models" that would be exposed via the web service. Is ActiveResource the correct thing to use? What about ActionWebService?

When operation A is running (executing B operations) how do i call a specific function/method on operation A when certain event takes place on B operations? • .Net opening and closing database connections

  I designed the data access portion of our framework so that every time a business object needs to interact with the database it would have to open a connection, invoke the data access layer (to execute the query), and then close the connection. Then if it needed to run in a transaction it would open the connection, begin the transaction, invoke the data access layer (to execute the query) and then commit the transaction, close the transaction, and finally close the connection. I did it this way with the mindset of open late and close early... but what if I needed to call other BO's to submit data in a single transaction? Is there a better way to handle opening and closing connections as well as working with transactions? I'm a rookie in designing application architecture so I hope I'm not doing this wrongly... any help is appreciated.

• NSPredicates with custom objects

  Hi, I have the following problem and I cannot figure out how to solve it. I have an NSSet which contains Person objects (NSDictionary with 2 keys: name, age). From time to time I get an NSArray of Person objects and I want to add them to my NSSet but I want to filter out the duplicates. I'm thinking I could use NSPredicates but I am reading the documentation and I can't understand how should I format my NSPredicate to filter out my array content based on what I already have in NSSet. So I have an NSSet with 5 custom objects and I get an NSArray with 6 objects but 3 of them already exist in NSSet and I want to filter them out. I understand what I should do with basic objects like Strings, integers, etc but I don't know how to extend this to work with custom more complex objects. I hope I was clear enough with my problem. Any starting point, example or advice is much appreciated. Thank you!

• Getting readline to block on a FIFO

  I create a fifo: mkfifo tofetch I run this python code: fetchlistfile = file("tofetch", "r") while 1: nextfetch = fetchlistfile.readline() print nextfetch It stalls on readline, as I would hope. I run: echo "test" > tofetch And my program doesn't stall anymore. It reads the line, and then continues looping forever. Why won't it stall again when there's no new data? I also tried looking on "not fetchlistfile.closed", I wouldn't mind reopening it after every write, but Python thinks the fifo is still open.

• Compiling my own PHP extension on Windows with Visual Studio 2008

  I wrote a PHP extension and it could be compiled and run under linux successfully. But on windows, I met some problems. I did the compiling on windows according to http://blog.slickedit.com/?p=128 with PHP source version 5.2.10, and after the compiling it generated the dll file. But when I tried to use the dll file, it reported me the memory problems when starting Apache(Wamp server). And then I started the debugging process, it seemed that REGISTER_INI_ENTRIES() had problems. Here is the PHP extension source code, http://www.bluefly.cn/xsplit.tar.gz , and it works fine on Linux. But I also want to make it work on Windows. Sorry I am not a pro so that I hope someone can help me. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance~

  Ok, this may be confusing so I hope I explain it correctly. I have 4 tables: business photos video category I want to display "featured" businesses on the home page (or elsewhere) and I want to show a Yes or No in the table row based upon whether or not there are photos or videos for that business. Example: Joes Crab Shack has no videos or photos but is featured. So, when his row is echoed out it will show the Business Name and Business Owner but there will be no data in the photo or video cells thus in the video and photos column it will say No. Otherwise, if the opposite was true, it would say Yes.   Hi, everyone. I don't want to fuel any holy-wars here, but I need to ask your opinion. Right now I'm in process of designing a Hardware Description Language as a project in my university. I decided to take VHDL language and just add some syntax-sugar 'coz VHDL is rather obese in syntax. I decided to use indentation to group blocks of code (like in Python), and I'm strongly criticized for that. Originally Begin...End; grouping is used in VHDL language. I have no clue what are cons and pros of these 3 types of grouping, the only thing I know is that I like Python style and I don't understand if it's usage could be erroneous or something? What do you think? What do you like? (hope that I can get some feedback from people who extensively used different languages with different code-grouping syntax, like Pasca, Ada, Delphi, C, C++, C#, Java, Python)

  My rails app is about to go live and I'm trying to figure out how to create a widget based on data on the site. My Javascript is not too hot--limited to the O'reilly head first book on JS. I can read simple Javascript okay but when it comes to writing it I'm a little lost. That said, I hope to roll out a widget, maybe a wordpress plugin too soon after my app is launched. Does anyone know of any rails plugins, javascript templates, tutorials or books that can get me going?   Hi, I have a problem with my apache2 configuration and I hope someone here can help me. There is one server with one IP and a few domains. http://123.123.123.123 should have /var/www/123.123.123.123 as DocumentRoot http://www.domain1.com should have /var/www/domain1.com as DocumentRoot http://blog.domain1.com should have /var/www/blog.domain1.com as DocumentRoot http://www.domain2.com should have /var/www/domain2.com as DocumentRoot and http://bullshit.domain1.com along with all other non-existing subdomains on both domains should return a 404 page. What am I doing wrong? That can't be so hard, and I'm sure I had it working before... In my current config all subdomains show the /var/www/123.123.123.123. I guess because thats the first VirtualHost apache is reading.

• Are there macro facility for Java or C#?

  Macros are useful. Therefore, I occasionally bemoan the absence of macros in Java and C#. Macros allow me to force in-line but allow me the code-manageability of non-macro code. Is there any Java- or C#-based project/product somewhere out there that effectively allow macros or specifying in-line expansion. I am thinking of something like @macro public void hello(int x){ ... } or when I call a method, an @inline annotation preceding the call would effect the called-method to be in-lined. or, should I need to know that I should just trust the compiler to make the best the decision for me that at the best of its analysis it might in-line a call. I hope this question will not lead to debating the pro/cons/usefulness of macros.

• Drawing the UIPicker values from multiple components?

  I have the UIPicker setup with multiple components and a button below it. Depending on what the user has chosen with the UIPicker determines which new view will be loaded but I am having trouble determining how to extrapolate the information from the picker itself. Right now I have this method being called when the button is pressed: - (IBAction) buttonPressed { if (component:1 == 1 && component:2 == 1) { //Load the view number 1. } else if (component:1 == 2 && component:2 == 1) { //Load the view number 2. } else { //Load the view number 3. } } I obviously know that my code is wrong but I hope it gets the point across. I have multiple components and I need to figure out how to use the information that the user is scrolling to on the picker to determine which view to move to. (I know how to load the views, I just commented those in the code to illuminate the problem areas better.)

• merging two duplicate contacts/ColdFusion

  having to do with data integrity - I maintain a coldfusion database at a small shop that keeps addresses of different contacts. These contacts sometimes contain notes in them. When you are merging two duplicate contacts, one may be created in 2002 and one in 2008. If the contact in 2002 has notes prior to 2008, my question would be does it matter if you merge these contacts and keep the 2008 contact's ID number? Would that affect the data integrity or create any sort of issues with the notes earlier than 2008? I hope I've accurately described my scenario, as I am not familiar with the proper technical terms. Now I'm trying to create a form that has the following fields: First name (from User) Last name (from User) Location (from UserProfile, which extends User via a foreign key) Employer (also from UserProfile) I have created a modelform: from django.forms import ModelForm from django.contrib import auth from alert.userHandling.models import UserProfile class ProfileForm(ModelForm): class Meta: # model = auth.models.User # this gives me the User fields model = UserProfile # this gives me the UserProfile fields So, my question is, how can I create a ModelForm that has access to all of the fields, whether they are from the User model or the UserProfile model? • C# detect page redirect

  I am trying to determine if a qualification exists on http://www.accreditedqualifications.org.uk in the form: http://www.accreditedqualifications.org.uk/qualification/50084811.seo.aspx 50084811 being a qualification aim entered by the end user. If they enter an invalid one e.g. http://www.accreditedqualifications.org.uk/qualification/50084911.seo.aspx They are redirected to an error page (with incorrect http headers as far as I can see). Is there a way to detect the redirect in C#. I would hope to be able to detect the redirect in http headers (thinking it will issue 2) or similar as oppose to having to download the whole page. This could be happening a lot so I would like to minimize traffic.
