• AutoMapper with c# 2.0 syntax

  I'm trying to create a custom mapping with AutoMapper, but I can't use 3.0 syntax with lambdas. How would one convert this 3.0 code into 2.0 ? Mapper.CreateMap<MyClass, MyDto>() .ForMember(dest => dest.Name, opt => opt.MapFrom(src => src.CompanyName)) Edit: Since there was no better solution, we are now using vs2008 on one workstation to make these mappings and build a dll. I hope it won't be long until we upgrade to vs2010.

• Find and replace string in MySQL using data from another table

  Hi, sorry for formatting this wonky but hope you can understand it. I have two MySql tables, and I want to find and replace text strings in one using data in another. Texts - one column: messages 'thx guys' 'i think u r great' 'thx again' ' u rock' Dictionary - two columns: bad_spelling, good_spelling 'thx' 'thanks' ' u ' ' you ' ' r ' ' are ' I want SQL to go through and look at every row in messages and replace every instance of bad_spelling with good_spelling, and to do this for all the pairs of bad_spelling and good_spelling The closest I have gotten is this: update texts, dictionary set texts.message = replace(texts.message, dictionary.bad_spelling, dictionary.good_spelling) But this only changes 'thx' to 'thanks' (in 2 rows) and does not go on to replace ' u ' with ' you' or ' r ' with ' are '. Any ideas how to make it use all the rows in dictionary in the replace statement? -- PS forgot to mention that this is a small example and in the real thing I will have a lot of find/replace pairs, which may get added to over time.

• AJAX call in a continuously loop?

  Hi, I want to create some kind of AJAX script or call that continuously will check a MySQL database if any new messages has arrived. When there is a new message in the database, the AJAX script should invoke a kind of alert box or message box. I’m not quite a AJAX expert (yet anyway) and have Googled around to find a solution but I’m having a hard time to figure out where to begin. I imagine that it is kind of the same method that an AJAX chat is using to see if any new chat-message has been send. I’ve also tried to search for AJAX (httpxmlrequest) call in a continuously and infinity loop but still haven’t got a solution yet. I hope there is someone, which can help me with such a AJAX script or maybe nudge me in the right direction. Thanks Sincerely Mestika

• Safari will not redirect to querystring URL

  I have a site built with PHP that does a redirect after certain actions are performed. header("Location: http://example.com/accountArea/?v=updated"); I then show a message based on the value of the query string value. In safari (and only in Safari) after the redirect, you will only see a blank page. I have tried using absolute URL and relative URL in my redirect, neither work. I was unable to find a solution by searching the web so I hope someone here is familiar with this.

  Hi I want to write a mysql statement which will return a list of results from one table along with a comma separated list of field from another table. I think an example might better explain it Table 1 ======================== id First_Name Surname ---------------------- 1 Joe Bloggs 2 Mike Smith 3 Jane Doe Table 2 ======================== id Person_Id Job_id --------------------- 1 1 1 2 1 2 3 2 2 4 3 3 5 3 4 I want to return a list of people with a comma separated list of job_ids. So my result set would be id First_Name Surname job_id ------------------------------ 1 Joe Bloggs 1,2 2 Mike Smith 2 3 Jane Doe 3,4 I guess the sql would be something like select id, First_Name, Surname, (SELECT job_id FROM Table 2) as job_id from Table 1 but obviously this does not work so need to change the '(SELECT job_id FROM Table 2) as job_id' part. I wan't to add that activity to a workflow and connect it to an if statement/activity that can based on my temperature outargument do different things. But I can't seem to find how to access the outargument from my temperature-activity. This is my first Windows Workflow 4 project so perhaps I'm attacking this in the wrong way. I have: public OutArgument Degrees { get; set; } But how do I access it? I have found tutorials how to get the data when running the activity (only one) but not as part of a workflow. • Changing error message for datatype validation?

  Hey guys, I've a small question on ASP.NET MVC 2. I'm using Data Annotations on my Presentation Model and its model binder per default. But one step back, I want to do the most elementary thing: validation of the data type. Let's say I have an "int ID" on my model and want to edit the according entity in my view. If I enter something wrong like "foo", then I get a model error back, but the validation message is on English. I want to have this message in other languages, too. How can I do this? I remember that in MVC 1 I've written a custom model binder which checks the data types, but that's not what I want to do (at least not in MVC 2). Thus I hope there is a better way...   I'm a web developer and a college student majoring in telecommunications. This means I'm decent at programming and I know a little about telecom networks (at a high, non-technical level). I keep reading that Erlang is used all over the telecom industry (supposedly for its performance). I'm wondering if there's anyway I can combine my programming skills with my telecommunications major with Erlang. Is most of the Erlang/telecom stuff closed source? Are there any open source telecom projects written Erlang? UPDATE: sipwiz's comment makes me think in terms of a question larger than "uses of Erlang".   NSXMLParserInvalidCharacterError # 9 This is the error I get when I hit a weird character (like quotes copied and pasted from word to the web form, that end up in the feed). The feed I am using is not giving an encoding, and their is no hope for me to get them to change that. This is all I get in the header: < ?xml version="1.0"? < rss version="2.0" What can I do about illegal characters when parsing feeds? Do I sweep the data prior to the parse? Is there something I am missing in the API? Has anyone dealt with this issue?

  Hi, I have a BLAST output file in XML format. It is 22 query sequences with 50 hits reported from each sequence. And I want to extract all the 50x22 hits. More of than I need it to work under high loads and large amounts of data. Simplified I have 3 types of objects: Product Tag ProductTag Product: key - string key name - string .... - some other fields Tag: key - string key name - unique tag words ProductTag: product_key - foreign key referring to product tag_key - foreign key referring to tag rating - this is rating of tag for this product Each product may have 0 or many tags. Tag may be assigned to 1 or many products. Means relation between products and tags is many-to-many in terms of relational databases. Value of "rating" is updated "very" often. I need to be run the following queries Select objects by keys Select tags for product ordered by rating Select products by tag order by rating Update rating by product_key and tag_key The most important is to make these queries really fast on large amounts of data, considering that rating is constantly updated.

  As a non-techie, I would really appreciate your help on this. I have some files (html) that need to be in pure ascii form to be properly processed. Since these files are produced by humans, every so often non-ascii characters sneak in. Often it is a stray " (curled variety) or something similar that is difficult to find and need to be removed. I have found text editors (eg. textmate) that can strip out all non-ascii characters, but I need to find one that can highlight where they are, rather than remove them (as I need to remove them from the source and not the html file). I hope this makes sense and appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thanks!

  I'm trying to follow along with this UITableView tutorial and I'm afraid I'm getting confused. What I hope to accomplish is to create a grouped table, which resembles the look and feel of the following image (image source): For each "break" in the table, I assume that I need another section. I understand there is a global NSMutableArray, which acts as the data source to the UITableView. Inside this global array, there are dictionaries for sections and for data, but this is where I start getting confused. Should I create a unique table to store each section in addition to a new table for the rows that are part of that section? In other words, if I have five sections, will I end up with ten unique collections of data (one for each section and one to store the rows related to the section), which all eventually get stored in the global array?

  Let's say I have this code: int function(bool b) { // execution path 1 int ret = 0; if(b) { // execution path 2 ret = 55; } else { // execution path 3 ret = 120; } return ret; } I need some sort of a mechanism to make sure that the code has gone in any possible path, i.e execution paths 1, 2 & 3 in the code above. I thought about having a global function, vector and a macro. This macro would simply call that function, passing as parameters the source file name and the line of code, and that function would mark that as "checked", by inserting to the vector the info that the macro passed. The problem is that I will not see anything about paths that did not "check". Any idea how do I do this? How to "register" a line of code at compile-time, so in run-time I can see that it didn't "check" yet? I hope I'm clear.
