  I Cannot install any package in the server, As I am newbie in Server. In Morning I found that some, I am not able to install any package from command line in the server,Now every package is now manually downloaded packages and then installed in the server. • Acordex Image viewer throws out of memory exception in CITRIX environment

  We have a .net 2.0 application. In the .aspx page we are calling the java applet using . This applet is calling the Acordex Image viewer. In the production environment users are facing "out of memory" or "insufficient memory" issues when users try to open the image or magnify an image in Acordex viewer. Strangely when the users logout and login again they are able to see the same image without any errors. The website is hosted in a CITRIX environment. We have access to this environment but we are not able to reproduce this issue on the test servers or the local machines. We dont know what is causing this issue. What should we do to troubleshoot the issue? Do we have to increase the memory allotted to the users in CITRIX? The RAM is around 4 gb.   I am thinking of using the Google Document Viewer to show PDF files that are hosted by our company server. The scenario is: A webpage will contain a menu with menu items that are actually different pages of a PDF file. After clicking a menu item, that particular page from the pdf will be displayed on that same web page This project is targeted for mobile devices (iPad, for now) Now, I am using an iFrame like below: But I don't know if linking to a specific page is possible or Google would like that because I tried the solutions posted on how to open specific page on Google's docs viewer and http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2009/11/link-to-page-in-googles-document-viewer.html but all of them seem to be outdated.   I am looking for a report generation tool in ruby or rails which allows the user to define a template, then fetch data into the created template. I have been looking through "The Ruby Box: reporting section." There are two reporting tools I have looked at: Thin Reports: It is really good. You can create your own report template with the template editor. Then you can produce PDF reports using thinreports gems. ODF Report: You can create a template ODF file using Open Office and MS Word, and you can use that template to generate the report. Both of these solutions lack the ability to draw charts. Does anyone know of similar reporting tools that can draw charts within a given report? I have tried the RTF Ruby Library. It works, but shares the limitation that it cannot draw charts and graphs. The minimum requirements are: Able to create customizable templates. (e.g. design layout, set font size, color, embed images etc.) Able to draw tables and charts. Template could be in Docx or excel or xml or any other common file format. Report output report must be in Docx or RTF format. Thanks

• Cascading input control is empty while accessing a Jasper Report

  I call a jasper report through an independent URL through which I pass one of the input controls needed to run the report. E.g. http:// localhost:8080/jasperserver/flow.html?_flowId=viewReportFlow&standAlone=true&reportUnit=xyz&ParentFolderUri=abcd&j_username=xyz&j_password=xyz&parameter1=value1& . . . As you can see in the URL, I pass the JasperServer username and password, reportUnit name and location and other mandatory parameters, along with the report input parameter, i.e., "parameter1" which can have a value like "value1". I used a mandatory, read-only and visible input control for this input value. Its value would come from the URL, showed in the box but was read-only and hence could not be changed. The report was working absolutely fine upto this point. But the tragedy began when my client rejected this idea. He wanted a completely invisible input control to my report and the input value would be passed through the URL, just like illustrated above. And then my client asked me to refer to this and made me work on cascading input controls. Recently I added a cascading input control to this report. The input control type is a single select query, which utilizes two parameters that I pass to the report through the URL. Now when the Jasper server responds to the URL with the input parameters, all the other static parameters work properly, except for the cascaded one. When I click the select box of the cascaded input, I can see the desired options for a second, and then, it just goes empty while I'm viewing the select list. But when I make the "Parameter1" input control visible, the cascading input control works! And then I turn in invisible, the cascading input control turns into a beast that does things by itself and not listen to his master. I am not able to understand why this is happening. Could anybody please provide me a solution to this?

• How to manage long running background threads and report progress with DDD

  Title says most of it. I have found surprising little information about this. I have a long running operation of which the user wants to see the progress (as in, item x of y processed). I also need to be able to pause and stop the operation. (Stopping doesn't rollback the items already processed.) The thing is, it's not that each item takes a long time to get processed, it's that that there are usually a lot of items. And what I've read about so far is that it's somewhat of an anti-pattern to put something like a queue in the DB. I currently don't have any messaging system in place, and I've never worked with one either. Another thing I read somewhere is that progress reporting is something that belongs in the application layer, but it didn't go into the details. So having said all this, what I have in mind is the following. User request with list of items enters the application layer. Application layer gets some information from the domain needed to process the items. Application layer passes the items and the information off to some domain service (should the implementation of this service belong in the infrastructure layer?) This service spins up a worker thread with callbacks for both progress reporting and pausing/stopping it. This worker thread will process each item in it's own UoW. This means the domain information from earlier needs to be stored in some DTO. Since nothing is really persisted, the service should be singleton and thread safe Whenever a user requests a progress report or wants to pause/stop the operation, the application layer will ask the service. Would this be a correct solution? Or am I at least on the right track with this? Especially the singleton and thread safe part makes the whole thing feel icky.

• Reporting Solution in PHP / CodeIgniter - Server side logic vs client side

  I'm building a report for an end user. They would like to see a list of all widgets... but then also like to see widgets with missing attributes, like missing names, or missing size. So i was thinking of creating one method that returns json data containing all widgets... and then using javascript to let them filter the data for missing data, instead of requerying the database. Ultimately, they need to be able to save all "reports" (filtered versions of data) inside a csv file. These are the two options I'm mulling over: Design 1 Create 3 separate methods in my controller/model like: get_all_data() get_records_with_missing_names() get_records_with_missing_size() And then when these methods are called, I would display the data on screen and give them a button to save to csv file. Design 2 Create one method called get_all_data() and then somehow, give them tools in the view to filter the json data using tables etc... and then letting them save subsets of the data. The reality is, in order to display all data, I still need to massage the data, and therefore, I know which records are missing attributes. So i'd rather not create separate methods by each filter. I'm not sure how I would do that just yet but at this point, i would like to know some pros/cons of each method. Thanks.

  I have a data processing system that generates very large reports on the data it processes. By "large" I mean that a "small" execution of this system produces about 30 MB of reporting data when dumped into a CSV file and a large dataset is about 130-150 MB (I'm sure someone out there has a bigger idea of "large" but that's not the point... ;) Excel has the ideal interface for the report consumers in the form of its Data Lists: users can filter and segment the data on-the-fly to see the specific details that they are interested in - they can also add notes and markup to the reports, create charts, graphs, etc... They know how to do all this and it's much easier to let them do it if we just give them the data. Excel was great for the small test datasets, but it cannot handle these large ones. Does anyone know of a tool that can provide a similar interface as Excel data lists, but that can handle much larger files? The next tool I tried was MS Access, and found that the Access file bloats hugely (30 MB input file leads to about 70 MB Access file, and when I open the file, run a report and close it the file's at 120-150 MB!), the import process is slow and very manual (currently, the CSV files are created by the same plsql script that runs the main process so there's next to no intervention on my part). I also tried an Access database with linked tables to the database tables that store the report data and that was many times slower (for some reason, sqlplus could query and generate the report file in a minute or soe while Access would take anywhere from 2-5 minutes for the same data) (If it helps, the data processing system is written in PL/SQL and runs on Oracle 10g.)

  Specs for Samsung N120 Netbook Atom N270 @ 1.60 GHz / 160 GB IDE HDD / 2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 RAM / Windows XP Home SP3 So I'm still getting some atapi errors in my Event Viewer. Here are two atapi errors I am getting over and over again: (1) The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort0, did not respond within the timeout period. (2) The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0. In addition, I am repeatedly getting this warning as well: (1) An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation. I just got this back from repair, where before, I couldn't boot at all because I was led to a black screen saying "Operating System Not Found". Still, I got it back and it can boot again, without any hard drive replacement or data loss. So, how can I get rid of these errors and warnings? What could have happened during repairs to allow my netbook to boot again? Thanks in advance.

• Event Viewer shows service name as a truncated 8 character name

  I have written a service which logs to the Windows Event Log when it has any problems. This works fine and the service name is shown correctly in the Source column of the Event Viewer. The problem I am seeing is when my service hits some major problems like the networking layer has died etc. When this happens the event log shows errors about my service but the service name is shown as a truncated 8 character name. This name looks to be that of the executable and not the service name. Is this normal behaviour for a truncated name to be show ?

  Hi, I am currently using TightVNC to connect to multiple remote hosts in LAN. I start 16 VNC viewers, set Scaling by: Auto (in connection options display), and then select all viewer windows and use Tile Horizontally, which covers my entire screen with VNC viewers. It all works sort of nice, except that desktop interaction is really slow when there are more then 4 VNC viewers. My question is, does VNC client (not just TightVNC, but any compatible client) support some kind of smart scaling option, so that client tells server something along the lines of: "Okay, I'm displaying your entire screen in a window size 300x225 px, so can you please start sending encoded images on that resolution?", at which point interactiveness of open connections dramatically increase, and when I decide to go full screen on some connection, client and server re-negotiate and server starts sending full resolution images again? • Ubuntu: Is there a good tabbed PDF viewer?

  Is there a good non-bloated PDF viewer for (Ubuntu) Linux that supports tabs? I don't want to use Acrobat Reader because it is slow and takes much memory, and my computer isn't the fastest. I know the alternative readers evince and foxit, but they don't support opening different PDF files in tabs. (foxit has that feature on Windows, but the Linux version 1.1, which I just tried, doesn't have it.) For evince, I know many people would like this functionality, but they get ridiculed by Ubuntu people (see here), who say that tabs are the task of a window manager. If that is the case, how can I put all evince windows into one in GNOME?

• Security Audit Failures in Event Viewer Windows Server 2008R2

  When I am looking at the security tab of my event viewer on a Windows Server 2008 R2, I am showing a ton of Audit Failures with Event ID 4776. The computer attempted to validate the credentials for an account. Authentication Package: MICROSOFT_AUTHENTICATION_PACKAGE_V1_0 Logon Account: randy Source Workstation: HPDB1 Error Code: 0xc0000064 I verified the account "randy" exist in my Active Directory. From my understanding, there has not been any recent password changes. Is there any way to get detailed information on this error? I am wondering what program is requesting this information. Also, is there any way to clear this error up? I was thinking about resetting the password and changing it back to the original.

The user id is use by an application to access the database. However, this account does not exits on this server. How do I trace the services/program use by this user id which causes these error messages? • What software works well for viewing massive TIFF images on Windows 7?

  Today I saw an article about a half-gig, 24000 square-pixel high-res composite image of the moon. (This is a much smaller version of the image) I find astronomy interesting, so I thought I'd download it and take a look. With 4GB of RAM and an i5 processor, I figured my computer could handle it. Unfortunately, the built-in Windows Picture Viewer didn't do such a great job. While it opened the file without a problem, zooming in was ineffective. The zoomed out image loaded, but zooming in just showed a scaled-up version of the zoomed-out version, not any detail: Closing the picture viewer also took a very long time, and the whole process used up much more RAM than the 500MB of the picture (usage went from 1.3GB to 3.8GB). What other software would work better for this? I would prefer something that is free and fairly simple. I don't really want to use an editor (like photoshop or GIMP), just a nice lightweight viewer. Any suggestions?

• How to change defaulp pdf viewer for all users in command line

  I'm using Debian squeeze with Gnome Desktop for all my users. I have a group of machines to set up so that all users should use xpdf as a default viewer (rather than evince). I want this set up to be done by command line (even better, using puppet). I know about xpg-mime command, but the man page says that the default command should not be used as root. I could manually tweek the /etc/gnome/defaults.list files, but I'm looking for a single command I could run to perform the setting without an editor interaction. Any idea ?

• SBS Report displaying critical error events but nothing in Event Viewer

  We have a Windows Server server set up running SBS 2008 on a 64-bit architecture. When I run my daily SBS Console reports I am being told there is a critical error on the server with Event ID 56 & Source "TermDD". This is all fairly regular behaviour and I have plenty of sites I would normally troubleshoot errors on but the strange thing is there are no errors appearing in the Windows Event Viewer & I can find no help on why this might be... Has anyone experienced this before / know what might be the cause? Many thanks

  I'm evaluating JasperReport and iReport, a requirement is the possibility to produce a multiple page report in which every page contains a different report. Example: Page 1 contains an actual invoice for a customer Page 2 contains the invoices list for the customer Page 3 contains a graph of amount of invoices by year Page 4 contains only fixed text (say operator instructions ...) Is it possible to create such a unique report instead of creating four standalone report and then merge the pdfs. Thank a lot. Francesco

  I have created a SQL Server Reporting Services Report Builder 3 report that contains a list of several items from a SharePoint list. I would like the list on the report to be a numbered list, so that when exported to Word, if a user adds another item to the document, the numbering is updated automatically. I can simulate a numbered list by creating a table and using 'RowNumber' in one of the columns, however this does not get rendered as a true numbered list. Is there any way to create a true numbered list in Report Builder 3

• Emulating Windows Photo Viewer image dragging in c#

  Hi, i'm trying to emulate how image is being dragged inside the windows photo viewer when it is large. The problem is, i don't how to drag the image while keeping it intact in the form's edges. If you're observing windows photo viewer, when you drag the image downward for instance the image moves and stops when the top end of the image is visible, but in my app, it continues to move since i don't know how to check when to stop it. Any idea please?
