  I was recommended by someone in Stack Overflow to use Core Data Editor http://christian-kienle.de/CoreDataEditor/ to manage the sqlite persistent store. However the latest version (3.0) crashes on launch everytime. Older versions load but I see nothing when i point the config to the persistent store and the object model directories. There is no documentation either. can someone point me to the right place to sort this problem? I am trying to find a more manageable way to coordinate core data development than sqlite consoles. thank you

  What is the best method to set cross-browser consistence typography (font-size and line height) for whole site using em for Fixed width {Width:970px}, centered website? I usually get design from client with multiple font size and line heights at various places in design. for some good reason i still use em without getting nested element problem and font-size inconsistencies in IE and others. then after setting how to manage and update easily ,and how to calculate ems I want to set easily manageable font sizes and I want to set Line height manually (because it can be different for various places in design. And for which things we should define line-height or for which not? How to set font-size and line-height to get consistent result. and if i'm using em for font-sizing then should i also use bottom-margin of h1, p, li etc in em?   One of my interview Questions, if multiple users across the world are accessing the application, in which it uses a Table which has a Primary Key as Auto Increment Field. The Question how can you prevent the other user getting the Same Primary key when the other user is executing? My answer was I will obtain the Lock on the table and I will make the user to wait Until that user is released with the Primary key. But the Question How do you acquire the Table lock programmatically and implement this? If there are 1000 users coming every minute to the application, if you explicity hold the lock on the table, then the application will become slower? How do you manage this? Please suggest the possible answers for the above question

  If invoices can be voided, should they be used as quotations? I have an Invoices tables that is created from inventory associated with a Job. I could have a Quotes table as a halfway-house between inventory and invoices, but it feels like I would have duplicate data structures and logic just to handle an "Is this a quote?" bit. From a business perspective, quotes are different from invoices: a quote is sent prior to an undertaking and an invoice is sent once it is complete and payment is due, but how to represent this in my repository and model. What is an elegant way to store and manage quotes & invoices in a database?

I want it to have square corners and the shades should be removed, too. It should look like this: But I'm not good enough at (X)HTML and CSS so I didn't manage to achieve this. • mvc2 validation problem (ambiguous reference between model and models)

  I followed instructions for mvc validation but I can't manage to solve this problem.... This is linq to sql model: I set Entity namespace to be CMS.Model If I try to declare partial class Article in Portal.Models namespace: public partial class Article { .... } Then, after using Article article somewhere in code I get following error: 'Article' is an ambiguous reference between 'Portal.Models.Article' and 'CMS.Model.Article' Portal is project name and CMS is area.... I followed these instructions I aslo created NerdDinner from scratch and in that example validation works. I can't figure out what am I doing wrong... someone noticed my mistake? Is it related with giving name to Entity namespace (in tutorial they used default one) Thanks in advance! PS I'd like to note that I'm c# newbie so I'm not really familiar with these partial classes

• NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate in a second view controller (not firing?)

  I am running into an issue similar to the one described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1319940/nsfetchedresultscontrollerdelegate-not-firing (the delegate for my NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate are not being called on my second view controller) I can't seem to get the proposed solutions to work. I have a main view that loads information from Core Data just fine, but when it pushes a separate controller (and passes the managed object to it), the delegate methods won't fire. I've read about 'mergeChangesFromContextDidSaveNotification' but I don't understand how to synchronize the two manage objects and/or get the delegate methods to be called. • SQL Server: Granting db_datawriter on all databases

  I want to manage permissions and access to a SQL Server database server on a development machine. I've created a local windows group (called DBReaderGroup) and assigned various people to it. The group was created as a SQL Server login successfully: create login [MYMACHINE\DBReaderGroup] from windows My goal is to grant this group read/write access to all databases (which are constantly being added and dropped). Is it possible to configure the right settings so that SQL Server manages this? My biggest challenge is that each time a db is created, I have to update the "User Mapping" settings for this group on the new database. Am I missing something simple?

• Get list of users belonging to a role using Authorization Manager (AzMan)

  Using ASP.NET (C#) I have set up Authorization Manager to allow me to handle roles on a website. Added users to roles is simple Roles.AddUserToRole("DOMAIN\\UserName", "role"). However I want to list the users belonging to a role, but since they are stored as SID's, displaying them would not be that helpful. To get the users, I am thinking XML would have to be used, although is it possible to use COM Interop to both do that and get the user name? Either way, how can I get the users belonging to a role? The table to manage roles would basically be like this: Role User ---- ---- admin DOMAIN\UserName [delete] DOMAIN\UserName2 [delete] [add user text box] news DOMAIN\UserName3 [delete] [add user text box]

• Rreport / LaTeX quality output package

  I'm looking for some LaTeX template for creating quality output. On R-bloggers I've bumped on Frank Harrel's Rreport package. Due to my, quite modest LaTeX abilities, only user-friendly (and noob-friendly) interface should suffice. Here's a link to an official website. I'm following the instructions, but I cannot manage to install an app. I use Ubuntu 9.10, R version is 2.10.1 (updated regularly from UCLA's CRAN server)... of course, cvs is installed on my sistem. Now, I'd like to know is there some user-friendly LaTeX template package (Sweave is still to advanced/spartan for me). I'm aware that my question is quite confounding, but brief glance on examples on Rreport page should give you a hint. I'm aware that LaTeX skills are a must, but just for now I need something that will suite my needs (as a psychological researcher). Is there any pandan for Rreport package?

• iPhone Objective-C/Plain C Memory Management

  Hi everyone, I understand Objective-C memory management but I'm using Core Graphics functionality such as CGRect, CGPoint, CGImageRef etc.. which is written in plain C. My question is how do i manage this memory or is it already handled for me? According to the Apple documentation if an Apple Objective-C function doesn't have copy, new or create in it the returned object is managed for you using autorealease. Is this true for the Core Graphics stuff also? (Well i guess it wont be using autorealease but maybe something similar?) Thanks for taking the time to read this.

  Hi! What I am trying to achieves looks very simple, yet I cannot make it work. My facts are orders which have a date and I have a typical time dimension with the 'Month" and 'Year' levels. • Using git branches for variations of a project

  I'm using git's branching feature to manage 5 variations of a small website. There are 5 versions that will all be live in different subdirectories on production. My approach to checking out the various branches to their respective folders was to: mkdir foo && cd foo git init git remote add origin git@...:project.git git fetch origin foo:foo Where "foo" is a given branch name. This was fine, except for that it pulled my entire repo (designs, as3 source, etc...) into those branch folders instead of just the public www folder, which is the only thing I really want on production. Is there a cleaner way to handle this? Git can't clone subdirectories right?

  Hey all, I am new to web development and have this project in hand where in I have to build a product catalogue. I don't want any cart functionality or other such features, I just want to display the products,their specifications and images etc. on the website and give my client an admin panel to manage products. Now I looked into various PHP shopping cart scripts but couldn't find a way to remove price info from the display. I am not experienced enough in web development to make a product catalogue from scratch so if you guys could point me out in right direction I would be very grateful. • Sharepoint SSRS: Unexpected Error Encountered

  We are running an intranet website hosted on Sharepoint 2007, serving reports to users via SSRS. Recently, our users are experiencing error when trying to access certain reports with the error message "An unexpected error has occurred". After trying many things, to cut a long story short we manage to temporarily solve the problem by manually running UPDATE STATISTICS on the tables in the database. However, this error will periodically crop up again and again, running UPDATE STATISTICS immediately solved it. I had suggested to run a daily job in the server to auto run UPDATE STATISTICS every few hours or so but was rejected by my team lead. Is there any other workaround for this error? Why does UPDATE STATISTICS solve the problem, I still not very understand?

• Drupal 5: CCK fields in custom content type

  I have module that implements custom content type via NodeAPI hooks (hook_insert, hook_update etc). I want to add CCK field to this content type and populate it via hook_nodeapi calls like create or update (to show content nodes in Views). Problem is, I cannot access CCK fields for this content type. Sure, it's enabled on "Manage Fields" page, but when I load any node of this type with Devel module, I cannot see field attribute (field_flag) in node object. I can see it under "Dev Render" tab as part of "content" attribute, like $node-content['field_flag']['#value'], but if I assign value to $node-field_flag or $node-content['field_flag']['#value'] and call node_save, CCK fields are not saved. Maybe I must call some other function to save CCK fields? Or what may be wrong with this setup?

The problem is that when I'm resizing my window the controls redraw on correct positions but it doesn't look good because it's not done fluently. EDIT: I would like a code that would manage the following scenario: 1) I click on the corner of window 2) Now only the border of window is visible - the middle part is transparent 3) I set the size of the window by mouse 4) I release the mouse button and the middle part of the window will appear Thank you for help!

  How can I manage multiple versions of a database easily? I have some data (as views as selects for data originating in tables from other schemas), which other database may reference using various means including database synonyms & links. • managing library dependencies with Boost.Build and C++

  I want to develop a project which can be built on a bunch of different platforms. The project code will be in C++, what's the the best way to manage libraries? I plan on using bjam as the build system because I'm going to be depending on Boost and their unit testing framework as well. The two dependent libraries are Boost itself and FLTK. The possibilities that come to mind for library management are: include build artifacts (binaries) and headers for all supported platforms in-tree include complete source for all dependent libraries in-tree, and somehow script them as dependencies A combination of 1 and 2, like node.js does with v8 inform the user that they need to build the libraries themselves and then have them on the PATH or in some special directory, like libcurl does with its dependencies What is the best approach here? The project will probably not grow beyond a few thousand lines over the next six months, but I want to make the right choice here so that I don't have to come back and switch everything around later.

  I have an Alfresco document reference; what I'm looking for is a way to access workflow attached to that document and finish it (or progress it to the next transition) through Javascript. Almost every example on the web shows how to start workflow, and from the dashlet I could call task command processor (/alfresco/command/task/end/[/transition]) if I knew the task ID, but how do I do the same thing from server-side web script starting only from the document reference? There must be a way to access workflows from document and manage them programatically.

• Best way for programmers to edit XAML

  I was wondering how programmers chose to edit XAML. Most of the programmers I speak to seem to edit the raw XML, but that seems nuts to me since it is such a natural thing for a more visual editor (of course you often have to get down to the raw code ultimately, but isn't there a better way to lay out a grid, or edit a template, or add non c# triggers or manage commands? The one that really set me off was editing a menu -- Visual Studio 1.0 had a better menu editor for C++ than the raw XAML editing experience.) When I edit .aspx files I use a visual editor much of the time, and then for the raw stuff I get into the html code. I am aware of Expression Blend, but that seems far more focused on artistic types and GUI experts rather than programmers. Does anyone have recommendations for a better editor for XAML than VS? Especially so since VS seems to have real nasty problems with XAML editing too, like bugginess and poor performance? Appreciate your helping this XAML newbie.

When I use this code, I only manage to retrieve recaptcha_challenge_field. If I remove recaptcha_challenge_field, I retrieve recaptcha_response_field. • .NET 4.0 build issues on CI Server

  Anybody manage to get .net 4.0 applications compiling on a CI server without installing visual studio 2010 on a CI server. No SDK exists for .net 4.0. Have installed .NET 4.0 on CI Server. Msbuild.exe works for simple projects and give the following warning (GetReferenceAssemblyPaths target) - C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets(847,9): warning MSB3644: The reference assemblies for framework ".NETFramework,Version=v4.0" were not found. To resolve this, install the SDK or Targeting Pack for this framework version or retarget your application to a version of the framework for which you have the SDK or Targeting Pack installed. Note that assemblies will be resolved from the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) and will be used in placeof reference assemblies. Therefore your assembly may not be correctly targeted for the framework you intend.

• List Management Via MailChimp API

  I'm investigating using the MailChimp API to manage email notifications for a social networking site (similar to how Twitter sends email notifications to followers when a followee posts a new Tweet). My original plan was to have a "follower" list for each user in the app and then send an email to that list each time that user posts new content. However, it appears that the MailChimp API intentionally doesn't support creating campaign lists via the API (for CAN-SPAM reasons). I've read something about list segmentation in MailChimp, but I don't think that helps me with this situation. I'm curious if anyone else has run into a similar requirement to mine and how they dealt with it. Any insights would be most appreciated! Thanks.
