• Wicket Drag and drop functionality for adding an image

  I'm making a wicket app that can manage some options for a cashdesk app. One of the options is to change the image of a selected Product. The user(manager) can choose from the already present images in the database (SQL) when this option is selected, or add a new image if the desired image is not present. Don't mention the test names and awesome images (it's still in test-fase) I prefer to see the adding of an image achieved by Drag and Drop html5 demo [dnd-upload] (From the desktop into the browser) I'm currently using Wicket-6.2.0 and wicket-dnd 0.5.0 and i can't seem to get this working! All examples I can find are from wicket 2.x or lower. It is possible to use drag and drop in Wicket-6.2, but how do I achieve this? There seems to be some DraggableBehavior in wicket? Briefly describe two suitable project management methodologies models that could be used. I'm quite confused by the amount of methodologies. I Thought maybe PMBOK and SCRUM might be the best but still not sure if they are the ones for developing software internally. or whether they work for small projects, for instance. The thing about PRINCE2 is that is very comprehensive and seems to suit the large projects, however I read that it also suits to small projects as well.   A follow-up on this system management question: Since I probably will not get much feedback on serverfault I'll give it a try here. My main concern is to reflect the dependencies between the databases, services ans tasks/jobs I'll have to manage. Besides considering Powershell, I even thought about using MSBuild because it would allow for modeling dependencies and reuse configuration targets. In other words: What technology should I use to develop a flexible solution that will allow me to stop service A, B and C on machine D in the right order and disable task E on machine F when taking down database X?

• ASP.NET MVC - separating large app

  I've been puzzled by what I consider a contradiction in terms: ASP.NET MVC claims to be furthering and supporting the "separation of concern" motto, which I find a great idea. However, it seems there's no way of separating out controllers, model or views into their own assembly, or separating areas into assemblies. With the fixed Controller, Model and View folders in your ASP.NET MVC, you're actually creating a huge hodge podge of things. Is that the separation of concerns, really?? Seems like quite the contrary to me. So what I'm wondering: how can I create an ASP.NET MVC solution that will either separate out controllers, the model, and the folders full of views, into separate assemblies? how can I put areas of ASP.NET MVC 2 into separate assemblies? or how else do you manage a large ASP.NET MVC app - which has several dozen or even over a hundred controllers, lots of model and viewmodel classes, and several hundred views?

• Open source political campaign management software?

  Does anyone know of any active open source projects working on political campaign management software? I looked on sourceforge but didn't see anything relevant from the queries "political", "politics", "donations", "campaign", or in the categories "accounting", "politics" or "voting". I'm involved with a political campaign that is currently paying out the nose for some horribly designed SaaS (whose Name i Guess i should Protect, ahem) to basically just keep track of donations people have made now, donations people have made in the past, donations people have pledged to make, contact information, the way they will likely vote, etc. It's a bit much to manage in spreadsheets, but doesn't seem like it's something complex enough that political campaigns should have to pay for (especially low-budget local ones). I'd love to help out if such a project exists, or start/revive one if it doesn't. Any hints, places to look, etc are much appreciated.

• Django : mysql : 1045, "Access denied for user

  I have the whole setup working for months on my local computer. I'm installing on a remote site now. Created a fresh mysql DB, and created a new user ("someuser") and gave it complete grants, like so - GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON . TO 'someuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'somepassword' WITH GRANT OPTION; I have sync'd the db, using "python manage.py syncdb" and the correct tables were created. My settings.py has this same user. But when I try to login a user through the application, and it hits the DB, I see the following in the logs - (1045, "Access denied for user 'someuser'@'localhost' (using password: YES)") I logged in through mysql (installed on the same box as django) and checked the grants and it correctly shows - Grants for djangouser@localhost GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON * . * TO 'someuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD '*thesaltedpasswordOverHere' WITH GRANT OPTION I don't want to use the root user/password for django, since it doesn't seem the correct way. Any pointers as to what might be wrong ?

• NuGet - managing and removing mutil version packages in single solution

  SCENARIO One VS solution with n projects. Project A references package Y v1, Project B references package Y v2. It is now not possible to update all references to package Y for all projects in the solution using the NuGet package manage dialog at the solution level, it is only possible to do this when all projects reference the same version of package Y. Not a big deal for only two projects, but I'm dealing with lots of projects that through poor package management are referencing many package versions when they should all reference the same version. Before I spend the afternoon writing a console app. to auto update all package.config files for a solution so that each referenced package is only referenced via it's latest version (latest referenced, not the very latest, with exceptions/caveats etc)....is there a tool/method for doing this already? Or some other approach I am unaware of?

• Why Shouldn't I Programmatically Submit Username/Password to Facebook/Twitter/Amazon/etc?

  I wish there was a central, fully customizable, open source, universal login system that allowed you to login and manage all of your online accounts (maybe there is?)... I just found RPXNow today after starting to build a Sinatra app to login to Google, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, OpenID, and EventBrite, and it looks like it might save some time. But I keep wondering, not being an authentication guru, why couldn't I just have a sleek login page saying "Enter username and password, and check your login service", and then in the background either scrape the login page from say EventBrite and programmatically submit the form with Mechanize, or use an API if there was one? It would be so much cleaner and such a better user experience if they didn't have to go through popups and redirects and they could use any previously existing accounts. My question is: What are the reasons why I shouldn't do something like that? I don't know much about the serious details of cookies/sessions/security, so if you could be descriptive or point me to some helpful links that would be awesome. Thanks!

  Hi guy, I need to integrate struts with spring for a project. I read the doc to ingrate struts and it's ok for classic beans but I have a problem for my forms. I have a form like this in my struts-config.xml: <form-beans> <form-bean name="creationForm" type="org.apache.struts.validator.DynaValidatorActionForm" > <form-property name="libelle" type="java.lang.String" /> <form-property name="quantite" type="java.lang.String" /> <form-property name="prix" type="java.lang.String" initial="10" /> </form-bean> But it's strange for me to have a "type" in struts-config because it's spring which manages beans. I don't found anything in the doc to manage forms by spring and the attribute "type" is mandatory for form in struts-config. Someone can help me please ?

• OpenCMS - Best approach for showing rotating references

  Hi, I would like to add on the right column of my site a rotating references section. Each reference would have some text + name of person + company name. It does not need to be structured (open text is also ok). I would then want opencms to rotate between 20 difference references each time a page is displayed. I can keep a session scope counter holding which reference we last showed. I need a way to manage the references (users not programmers) over time.   I am executing the following routine often in order to clear the local cache of many Outlook clients (Outlook 2003) in order to fix corrupted Forms stored on the users local drive. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Other tab. Click Advanced Options. In the Advanced Options box, click Custom Forms. In the Custom Forms box, click Manage Forms. In the Forms Manager box, click Clear Cache. Is there a way I can program this to occur on the local client? I am looking for a solution that could be included in Outlooks VBScript in order to include it in yet another 'Organizational Forms Library' Forms client side validation code. Would this question better fit Server Fault Stack Exchange via an admin script/tool?

• Add UIView Above All Other Views, Including StatusBar

  I'm wanting to create a view (UIControl) which blocks all input and shows a UIActivityIndicatorView while authenticating a user. The UIActionSheet and UIAlertView both manage to add a black semi-transparent view over the top of all other views to block input and I'd like to do similar. I've tried adding my view to the top UIWindow in the [[UIApplication sharedApplication] windows] array, and while this does place it above the UIKeyboard if it's visible, it doesn't place it over the StatusBar (which makes sense). My next attempt was to extend UIAlertView, remove all of its subviews and set its layer.contents = nil, then add the ActivityIndicator as a subview. This works well, but I can't seem to kill the default bouncy transition of the UIAlertView when you call it to "show". Does anyone have any pointers towards the best way tackle this problem that gives me full control? Oh and I know blocking input is not great but I do ensure it's for a short period of time and it has the benefit of making it clear to the user that their action, which must complete for them to progress, is processing.

Scenario: Central web application to register/manage account (Server in Europe) Several web applications that need to authenticate against my user database (Servers in US/Europe/Pacific region) I am using MySQL as database backend. The options I came up with are either replicating the user database across all servers (data security?) or allowing the servers to directly connect to my MySQL instance by explicitly allowing connections from their IPs in my.cnf (high load? single point of failure?). What would be the best way to provide a scalable and low-latency single sign-on for all web applications? In terms of data security would it be a good idea to replicate the user database across all web applications? Note: All web applications provide an API which users can use to embed widgets into their own websites. These widgets work through a token auth mechanism which will again need to authenticate against my user database.

How do I manage to use wait() & how do I know when one of my executable is finished generating the result to get the result?   I have a ruby-on-rails application that wishes to utilise the tumblr gem for adding posts when an action is taken (eg: creating a blog post) I currently have the tumblr gem installed and can manage to fetch my posts using @tumblruser = Tumblr::User.new('myemail','mypassword') However when i go to add a post where it asks me to pass the user information like so (according to the API for the gem) post = Tumblr::Post.create(@tumblruser, :type => 'video', :embed => @post.video_html, :title => @post.title, :caption => @post.content) it just does not want to authenticate and returns a 403 error anyone had any experience with this?

• Setting up a non-emacs Common Lisp Dev Env for web application development?

  I am trying to set up a Common Lisp Dev Env for web application development on my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64-bit box and I can't find a single decent guide that is targeted at noobs. The closest I came is with Peter Seibel's Lisp in a box but I detest Emacs with a passion and it seems to have older versions of SBCL and CLISP (which are my preferred CL implementations). I do not want to use any of the commercial implementations. I am looking for a simple setup to write some very basic CRUD apps involving possibly hunchentoot, some framework like weblocks,CL-WHO, CL-SQl, sqlite or some datastores from the nosql family like mongo and couch.. Assuming, I go with either SBCL or CLISP on Linux, what is the best tool to manage packages and libraries? ASDF? I am looking for simplicity and consistency and I don't expect to use a ton of libs...

• Amazon AWS S3 to Force Download Mp3 File instead of Stream It

  Hi everybody, I'm using Amazon AWS S3 to put the mp3 file then allow our site visitor to download the mp3 from Amazon AWS. I use S3Fox to manage the file, everything seems working fine until recently we got many complaints from visitor that the mp3 was streamed via the browser instead of displaying browser save dialog. I try for some mp3 and notice that for some mp3, the save dialog box is appear, and for some others they're streamed via browser. What can I do to force that the Mp3 file will be downloaded instead of streamed via web browser.... Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

• Why is the servlet request not available in the portlet API

  The portlet API deos not provide any reference to the enclosing servlet request and response objects. I know it is not the preferred model of interaction with the user, but it seems draconian to remove all access. I understand that for portlet driven interaction with the user, you want to use portlet URLs, and let the portlet container manage all the complexity. However if you have a number of portlets which are basically showing variants of the same data, it makes sense for them to be able to use the enclosing request to drive the data. We ended up using using a Liferay specific call to get the request, and it all seems to work as we wish. However I do feel the guilt. So my question really is, is there an underlying deep reason for the prohibition, or is it just to enforce the authors view of the API environment?
