  Hello there, I have been looking over the internet for a while about this, but it doesn't seem like there is any information available specifically related to captcah and flash. My purpose is to create an image up-loader on flash, and implement "recaptcha" on it, so the upload is controlled. I know that some people will say, "well you can't automatize flash input so you don't need captcha in this situation" even though this is somewhat true, there is still screen macro programs that could potentially make the computer upload hundreds of pictures if there is not something in place to avoid it. I thought of implementing my own captcha but that seems to me like i would be reinventing the wheel, can anyone point me on the right track for this? or suggest another approach to avoid abuse on my image up-loader flash?

  We are going to begin implementing a web service that will be hosted on a DMZ server. This web server will post data to a SQL server and we're trying to determine the best methodology to handle this. Things that concern us are web service authentication, SOAP, and whether or not to store the database on the DMZ or the local network. This same scenario will apply to ASP.Net apps. Trust me, I've already searched the web, but as usual, the online resources I've found either talk about just authentication, or just about SOAP, or etc, but does not show or suggest how the entire system can work together. Can you give me a list of resources such as links that I've missed, books, classes, or etc that would help? Thank You.

  Hi all, I want to set simple html contents within a web view and then resize it according to its content. To set simple html contents within web view I used this code and it is working fine: [[myWebView mainFrame] loadHTMLString:webViewContents baseURL:baseURLFramed]; Right now, if content is more than its actual size then it appears in web view showing both vertical and horizontal scroller in it. I want to set some default width and manage height according to its content in a way so that neither horizontal nor vertical scroller appears. Can anyone suggest me some solution for it?   Hello, I am currently trying to profile a class contained in a different assembly. To do this I created a small console application which calls into the public entry point of the class I want to profile. This enrty point is called Run(). This is working fine when I run my Console application in Debug mode and I can step into the Run() method. The Run() method calls a variety of other methods in its own assembly and other assemblies. However, when I create a new profiler of type "Instrumentation" in VS 2008, and run the profiler, the report shows my Main() function calling Run(), but in turn, when viewing the Caller/Callee report for my Run() method the report shows that the Run() method is the bottom of the stack. This is clearly not the case - could anyone please suggest why this is happening? Thanks.

  Hello, I'm using JQuery to call a PHP function that returns a JSON string upon success or throws some exceptions. • Should you remove all warnings in your Verilog or VHDL design? Why or why not?

  In (regular) software I have worked at companies where the gcc option -Wall is used to show all warnings. Then they need to be dealt with. With non-trivial FPGA/ASIC design in Verilog or VHDL there are often many many warnings. Should I worry about all of them? Do you have any specific techniques to suggest? My flow is mainly for FPGAs (Altera and Xilinx in particular), but I assume the same rules would apply to ASIC design, possibly more so due to the inability to change the design after it is built.

• Java WebApp - Integrate a Payment method system

  I've a java webApp where people can sell their items like in ebay. I need to integrate a payment system and I'm wondering what's the best (from a customer point of view) and easiest to integrate in my app. I was thinking to integrate paypal and require all the sellers to have an account on it. Maybe Google Checkout can be a good option as well, but I don't know if it's used a lot. I think I'll redirect the user to Paypal and then remove the item once I receive the confirmation from paypal that the item has been payed. Would you suggest another easier to integrate/more trusted solution? Thank you

• GCC destructor behaviour

  I've noticed a difference in behaviour for gcc's destructor when compiled under linux and crosscompiled with mingw. On linux the destructor will not get called unless the program terminates normally by itself (returns from main). I guess that kind of makes sense if you take signal handlers into account. On Win32 however, the destructor is called if the program is terminated by say a CTRL-C, but not when killed from the Task Manager. Why is this? And what would you suggest to make the destructor get called no matter how the process terminates - on Win32 in particular? • Silverlight DRY when animating multiple UserControls on main Navigation page.

  Hello all. Starting with Silverlight development. Yet to read a good Silverlight book: suggestions welcome. I have a main GUI screen where 7 user controls (menu items) 'swoop' into sight, all along their own path. I have the user controls nicely seperated and behaving well. Having multiple storyboards (1 each for each menuitem) with multiple keyframe animations (X,Y,height, width) in one .XAML is not sitting well with me. Repeating all those property values is hideous, neverthemind maintenance. I've tried to move values into the app.xaml and set animation durations with style keys, but having limited success. Can anyone suggest a nice way of making this cleaner? Refactor the storyboards out to their own control? Property values in resources? Dynamic building in codebehind? Referring me to a how-to site is fine as well. Tx!

  Does anyone know or has experience with a pure Java library to select portfolios or do some similar kinds of quadratic programming with constraints? There seems to be a lot of tools, as already discussed elsewhere - but what I would like to use is a pure Java implementation. Since I want to call the library from within another open-source software with a BSD-ish license I would prefer LGPL over GPL. Any help is appreciated. If you don't know such libraries, which is the most simple algorithm you would suggest to implement? It has to cope with an inequality constraint (all x_i = 0) and an equality constraint (sum of all x_i = 1).

  I am learning Python using "Dive Into Python 3" book. I like it, but I don't understand the example used to introduce Closures in Section 6.5. I mean, I see how it works, and I think it's really cool. But I don't see any real benefit: it seems to me the same result could be achieved by simply reading in the rules file line by line in a loop, and doing search / replace for each line read. Could someone help me to: either understand why using closures in this example improves the code (e.g., easier to maintain, extend, reuse, or debug?) or suggest a source of some other real-life code examples where closures really shine?   I'm trying to override the Rails devise login to include recaptcha. I followed the steps here http://presentations.royvandewater.com/authentication-with-devise.html#8 however for some reason, authentication always fails. To isolate the problem, I removed all my code and called super directly class SessionsController < Devise::SessionsController def create super end end file is at: Rails.root/app/controllers/sessions_controller.rb the slide suggest Rails.root/app/controllers/sessions.rb but I assume that was just a mistake. Trying it out didn't help either. I even copied the full Sessions Controller code into my own, still gives the problem. Authentication fails here specifically: resource = warden.authenticate!(:scope => resource_name, :recall => "#{controller_path}#new") Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

• Building Android app from ant via Hudson - chicken and egg problem

  When using an Android-generated ant build file, the file references your SDK installation via an sdk.dir property inside the local.properties files which is generated by "android update project -p .". The comments in build.xml suggest that local.properties should NOT be checked into version control. BUT, when you run your build from Hudson, it does a fresh checkout of your code from version control, hence local.properties does not exist and subsequently the build fails without sdk.dir being set. So its kind of chicken and egg problem. As a workaround I have checked local.properties into version control for now (nobody else will use it) but I was curious as to how other developers had tackled this problem ?

• Access Edit Mode Values of BindingSource Control

  I have a BindingSource control (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.bindingsource.aspx) with a datasource of a (single) Linq object. If I change any of the properties of the underlying Linq-to-Sql object then all the other changes on the bound controls on the form are lost. Does anyone now why and how I work around it? I don't want to call EndEdit because this will commit the changes to the underlying object. I think this might be because my underlying object linq-to-sql object does not implement IEditableObject so the potental new values for the object fields are sort of stored in the forms controls. Can anyone either clarify what is going on and/or suggest a work around. Thanks!

• Why does the release build of my iPhone app crash on the device on the first run after installation?

  I have an iPhone app that's been in development for about 2 weeks. We recently tried the "release" version of the build on a device, and to our great unhappiness, it crashes in one of the views with an "EXC_BAD_ACCESS". This crash only occurs on devices, and only in the "release" build. Not only that, but it only happens the first time the app is launched! It is also 100% reproducible. We have removed the small block of code that deals with data persistence, and have tried re-openning Xcode, cleaning the project, deleting and reinstalling the app, etc., as some other questions suggest. Do you have any advice for a) what might be causing this problem, and b) how to go about debugging if it only happens in "release"? Thanks

  Hello! I'm developing an administration panel (in php), for a website (in a shared host), to let the administrator to manage the personal infos of the employees! With this panel should be possible to create or delete an e-mail account for an employee and if the employee logs in the admin panel, he/she should be able to access to his/her e-mail account! I had thought to install Horde WebMail on the website to let the employees use their e-mail accounts ... but how can I pass the login credentials to Horde? And what you suggest to create and delete the e-mails account that can be read by Horde? Any other suggestion is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!! EDIT: Or are there better alternatives to Horde to accomplish, at least, the e-mail account access from within the web site?

• ACL suggestions needed for a small light framework developed

  Hello all, I've developed a small framework that was needed for the firm that I work. The problem is I've not made a full level framework, as developers are finding tough time to understand what is what, So I made a simple structure with app/controllers, app/models, app/views so that they can clearly separate the code and can get used to higher frameworks later. All other things like components/modules/helpers are just coded for now in a file called app_functions.php. The above framework is derived from cakePHP, not all, but just the framework uses a modified code of dispatcher of cake. The models all work with normal sqls, and views with pure html using a template engine. Now I'm trying to develop a small application over it, it cameout well, but ACL is something which many versions of it have not proved that satisfactory. Can anybody suggest a good ACL. I've checked phpGACL(too heavy), Zend_ACL likely won't be compatible, Cakephp's ACL which wont fit in the structure,as we are not using cake's SQLs, as there too many queries hitting the database for one page display.

• C# naming convention for extension methods for interface

  I typically name my C# interfaces as IThing. I'm creating an extension method class for IThing, but I don't know what to name it. On one hand, calling it ThingExtensions seems to imply it is an extension class to some Thing class instead of to the IThing interface. It also makes the extension class be sorted away from the interface it extends, when viewing files alphabetically. On the other hand, naming it IThingExtensions makes it look like it is an interface itself, instead of an extension class for an interface. What would you suggest?
