  • nested iterator errors

Update I add public: in the seamlessPointer class and change begin to begin() Then I got the following errors: ..\hw3prob2.cpp:50:46: instantiated from here c:\wascana\mingw\bin\../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.5.0/include/c++/bits/stl_algo.h:5250:4: error: no match for 'operator-' in '__last - __first' ..\/arrayList.h:129:21: note: candidate is: arrayList<T>::seamlessPointer& arrayList<T>::seamlessPointer::operator-(int) [with T = std::basic_string<char>, arrayList<T>::seamlessPointer = arrayList<std::basic_string<char> >::seamlessPointer] c:\wascana\mingw\bin\../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.5.0/include/c++/bits/stl_algo.h:5252:4: instantiated from 'void std::sort(_RAIter, _RAIter, _Compare) [with _RAIter = arrayList<std::basic_string<char> >::seamlessPointer, _Compare = bool (*)(std::basic_string<char>, std::basic_string<char>)]' ..\hw3prob2.cpp:50:46: instantiated from here c:\wascana\mingw\bin\../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.5.0/include/c++/bits/stl_algo.h:2190:7: error: no match for 'operator-' in '__last - __first' ..\/arrayList.h:129:21: note: candidate is: arrayList<T>::seamlessPointer& arrayList<T>::seamlessPointer::operator-(int) [with T = std::basic_string<char>, arrayList<T>::seamlessPointer = arrayList<std::basic_string<char> >::seamlessPointer] Then I add operator -() in the seamlessPointer class ptrdiff_t operator -(seamlessPointer &rhs) { return (arrayList<T>::iterator::position - rhs.position); } Then I compile successfully. But when I run it, I found memeory can not read error. I debug and step into and found the error happens in stl function template<typename _RandomAccessIterator, typename _Distance, typename _Tp, typename _Compare> void __adjust_heap(_RandomAccessIterator __first, _Distance __holeIndex, _Distance __len, _Tp __value, _Compare __comp) { const _Distance __topIndex = __holeIndex; _Distance __secondChild = __holeIndex; while (__secondChild < (__len - 1) / 2) { __secondChild = 2 * (__secondChild + 1); if (__comp(*(__first + __secondChild), *(__first + (__secondChild - 1)))) __secondChild--; *(__first + __holeIndex) = _GLIBCXX_MOVE(*(__first + __secondChild)); ////// stop here __holeIndex = __secondChild; } Of course, there must be something wrong with the customized operators of iterator. Does anyone know the possible reason? Thank you.

  • o write a C++ program to encrypt and decrypt certain codes.

    - by Amber
    Step 1: Write a function int GetText(char[],int); which fills a character array from a requested file. That is, the function should prompt the user to input the filename, and then read up to the number of characters given as the second argument, terminating when the number has been reached or when the end of file is encountered. The file should then be closed. The number of characters placed in the array is then returned as the value of the function. Every character in the file should be transferred to the array. Whitespace should not be removed. When testing, assume that no more than 5000 characters will be read. The function should be placed in a file called coding.cpp while the main will be in ass5.cpp. To enable the prototypes to be accessible, the file coding.h contains the prototypes for all the functions that are to be written in coding.cpp for this assignment. (You may write other functions. If they are called from any of the functions in coding.h, they must appear in coding.cpp where their prototypes should also appear. Do not alter coding.h. Any other functions written for this assignment should be placed, along with their prototypes, with the main function.) Step 2: Write a function int SimplifyText(char[],int); which simplifies the text in the first argument, an array containing the number of characters as given in the second argument, by converting all alphabetic characters to lower case, removing all non-alpha characters, and replacing multiple whitespace by one blank. Any leading whitespace at the beginning of the array should be removed completely. The resulting number of characters should be returned as the value of the function. Note that another array cannot appear in the function (as the file does not contain one). For example, if the array contained the 29 characters "The 39 Steps" by John Buchan (with the " appearing in the array), the simplified text would be the steps by john buchan of length 24. The array should not contain a null character at the end. Step 3: Using the file test.txt, test your program so far. You will need to write a function void PrintText(const char[],int,int); that prints out the contents of the array, whose length is the second argument, breaking the lines to exactly the number of characters in the third argument. Be warned that, if the array contains newlines (as it would when read from a file), lines will be broken earlier than the specified length. Step 4: Write a function void Caesar(const char[],int,char[],int); which takes the first argument array, with length given by the second argument and codes it into the third argument array, using the shift given in the fourth argument. The shift must be performed cyclicly and must also be able to handle negative shifts. Shifts exceeding 26 can be reduced by modulo arithmetic. (Is C++'s modulo operations on negative numbers a problem here?) Demonstrate that the test file, as simplified, can be coded and decoded using a given shift by listing the original input text, the simplified text (indicating the new length), the coded text and finally the decoded text. Step 5: The permutation cypher does not limit the character substitution to just a shift. In fact, each of the 26 characters is coded to one of the others in an arbitrary way. So, for example, a might become f, b become q, c become d, but a letter never remains the same. How the letters are rearranged can be specified using a seed to the random number generator. The code can then be decoded, if the decoder has the same random number generator and knows the seed. Write the function void Permute(const char[],int,char[],unsigned long); with the same first three arguments as Caesar above, with the fourth argument being the seed. The function will have to make up a permutation table as follows: To find what a is coded as, generate a random number from 1 to 25. Add that to a to get the coded letter. Mark that letter as used. For b, generate 1 to 24, then step that many letters after b, ignoring the used letter if encountered. For c, generate 1 to 23, ignoring a or b's codes if encountered. Wrap around at z. Here's an example, for only the 6 letters a, b, c, d, e, f. For the letter a, generate, from 1-5, a 2. Then a - c. c is marked as used. For the letter b, generate, from 1-4, a 3. So count 3 from b, skipping c (since it is marked as used) yielding the coding of b - f. Mark f as used. For c, generate, from 1-3, a 3. So count 3 from c, skipping f, giving a. Note the wrap at the last letter back to the first. And so on, yielding a - c b - f c - a d - b (it got a 2) e - d f - e Thus, for a given seed, a translation table is required. To decode a piece of text, we need the table generated to be re-arranged so that the right hand column is in order. In fact you can just store the table in the reverse way (e.g., if a gets encoded to c, put a opposite c is the table). Write a function called void DePermute(const char[],int,char[], unsigned long); to reverse the permutation cypher. Again, test your functions using the test file. At this point, any main program used to test these functions will not be required as part of the assignment. The remainder of the assignment uses some of these functions, and needs its own main function. When submitted, all the above functions will be tested by the marker's own main function. Step 6: If the seed number is unknown, decoding is difficult. Write a main program which: (i) reads in a piece of text using GetText; (ii) simplifies the text using SimplifyText; (iii) prints the text using PrintText; (iv) requests two letters to swap. If we think 'a' in the text should be 'q' we would type aq as input. The text would be modified by swapping the a's and q's, and the text reprinted. Repeat this last step until the user considers the text is decoded, when the input of the same letter twice (requesting a letter to be swapped with itself) terminates the program. Step 7: If we have a large enough sample of coded text, we can use knowledge of English to aid in finding the permutation. The first clue is in the frequency of occurrence of each letter. Write a function void LetterFreq(const char[],int,freq[]); which takes the piece of text given as the first two arguments (same as above) and returns in the 26 long array of structs (the third argument), the table of the frequency of the 26 letters. This frequency table should be in decreasing order of popularity. A simple Selection Sort will suffice. (This will be described in lectures.) When printed, this summary would look something like v x r s z j p t n c l h u o i b w d g e a q y k f m 168106 68 66 59 54 48 45 44 35 26 24 22 20 20 20 17 13 12 12 4 4 1 0 0 0 The formatting will require the use of input/output manipulators. See the header file for the definition of the struct called freq. Modify the program so that, before each swap is requested, the current frequency of the letters is printed. This does not require further calls to LetterFreq, however. You may use the traditional order of regular letter frequencies (E T A I O N S H R D L U) as a guide when deciding what characters to exchange. Step 8: The decoding process can be made more difficult if blank is also coded. That is, consider the alphabet to be 27 letters. Rewrite LetterFreq and your main program to handle blank as another character to code. In the above frequency order, space usually comes first.

  • "'0.offsetWidth' is null or not an object" - Coda Slider - Javascript Error Question

    - by bgadoci
    I implemented the Coda Slider tutorial successfully that is located here: http://jqueryfordesigners.com/coda-slider-effect/ The slider works great but I am getting a javascript error that I am not sure how to fix. The error says: '0.offsetWidth' is null or not an object coda-slider.js, line 19 character 3 Not sure how to fix it. Anyone have any ideas? Here is my js and css (don't think I need to upload the HTML but let me know if that helps). JS (coda-slider.js) // when the DOM is ready... $(document).ready(function () { var $panels = $('#slider .scrollContainer > div'); var $container = $('#slider .scrollContainer'); // if false, we'll float all the panels left and fix the width // of the container var horizontal = true; // float the panels left if we're going horizontal if (horizontal) { $panels.css({ 'float' : 'left', 'position' : 'relative' // IE fix to ensure overflow is hidden }); // calculate a new width for the container (so it holds all panels) $container.css('width', $panels[0].offsetWidth * $panels.length); <------line 19 } // collect the scroll object, at the same time apply the hidden overflow // to remove the default scrollbars that will appear var $scroll = $('#slider .scroll').css('overflow', 'hidden'); // apply our left + right buttons $scroll .before('<img class="scrollButtons left" src="/images/layout/navigation/scroll_left.png" />') .after('<img class="scrollButtons right" src="/images/layout/navigation/scroll_right.png" />'); // handle nav selection function selectNav() { $(this) .parents('ul:first') .find('a') .removeClass('selected') .end() .end() .addClass('selected'); } $('#slider .navigation').find('a').click(selectNav); // go find the navigation link that has this target and select the nav function trigger(data) { var el = $('#slider .navigation').find('a[href$="' + data.id + '"]').get(0); selectNav.call(el); } if (window.location.hash) { trigger({ id : window.location.hash.substr(1) }); } else { $('ul.navigation a:first').click(); } // offset is used to move to *exactly* the right place, since I'm using // padding on my example, I need to subtract the amount of padding to // the offset. Try removing this to get a good idea of the effect var offset = parseInt((horizontal ? $container.css('paddingTop') : $container.css('paddingLeft')) || 0) * -1; var scrollOptions = { target: $scroll, // the element that has the overflow // can be a selector which will be relative to the target items: $panels, navigation: '.navigation a', // selectors are NOT relative to document, i.e. make sure they're unique prev: 'img.left', next: 'img.right', // allow the scroll effect to run both directions axis: 'xy', onAfter: trigger, // our final callback offset: offset, // duration of the sliding effect duration: 500, // easing - can be used with the easing plugin: // http://gsgd.co.uk/sandbox/jquery/easing/ easing: 'swing' }; // apply serialScroll to the slider - we chose this plugin because it // supports// the indexed next and previous scroll along with hooking // in to our navigation. $('#slider').serialScroll(scrollOptions); // now apply localScroll to hook any other arbitrary links to trigger // the effect $.localScroll(scrollOptions); // finally, if the URL has a hash, move the slider in to position, // setting the duration to 1 because I don't want it to scroll in the // very first page load. • DSOFramer closing Excel doc in another window. If unsaved data in file, dsoframer fails to open with

    - by Steve
    I'm using Microsoft's DSOFramer control to allow me to embed an Excel file in my dialog so the user can choose his sheet, then select his range of cells; it's used with an import button on my dialog. The problem is that when I call the DSOFramer's OPEN function, if I have Excel open in another window, it closes the Excel document (but leaves Excel running). If the document it tries to close has unsaved data, I get a dialog boxclosing Excel doc in another window. If unsaved data in file, dsoframer fails to open with a messagebox: "Attempt to access invalid address". I built the source, and stepped through, and its making a call in its CDsoDocObject::CreateFromFile function, calling BindToObject on an object of class IMoniker. The HR is 0x8001010a "The message filter indicated that the application is busy". On that failure, it tries to InstantiateDocObjectServer by classid of CLSID Microsoft Excel Worksheet... this fails with an HRESULT of 0x80040154 "Class not registered". The InstantiateDocObjectServer just calls CoCreateInstance on the classid, first with CLSCTX_LOCAL_SERVER, then (if that fails) with CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER. I know DSOFramer is a popular sample project for embedding Office apps in various dialogs and forms. I'm hoping someone else has had this problem and might have some insight on how I can solve this. I really don't want it to close any other open Excel documents, and I really don't want it to error-out if it can't close the document due to unsaved data. Update 1: I've tried changing the classid that's passed in to "Excel.Application" (I know that class will resolve), but that didn't work. In CDsoDocObject, it tries to open key "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{00024500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\DocObject", but fails. I've visually confirmed that the key is not present in my registry; The key is present for the guid, but there's no DocObject subkey. It then produces an error message box: "The associated COM server does not support ActiveX document embedding". I get similar (different key, of course) results when I try to use the Excel.Workbook programid. Update 2: I tried starting a 2nd instance of Excel, hoping that my automation would bind to it (being the most recently invoked) instead of the problem Excel instance, but it didn't seem to do that. Results were the same. My problem seems to have boiled down to this: I'm calling the BindToObject on an object of class IMoniker, and receiving 0x8001010A (RPC_E_SERVERCALL_RETRYLATER) "The message filter indicated that the application is busy". I've tried playing with the flags passed to the BindToObject (via the SetBindOptions), but nothing seems to make any difference. Update 3: It first tries to bind using an IMoniker class. If that fails, it calls CoCreateInstance for the clsid as a "fallback" method. This may work for other MS Office objects, but when it's Excel, the class is for the Worksheet. I modified the sample to CoCreateInstance _Application, then got the workbooks, then called the Workbooks::Open for the target file, which returns a Worksheet object. I then returned that pointer and merged back with the original sample code path. All working now.

  • Add Service Reference is generating Message Contracts

    - by JohnIdol
    OK, this has been haunting me for a while, can't find much on Google and I am starting to lose hope so I am reverting to the SO community. When I import a given service using "Add service Reference" on Visual Studio 2008 (SP1) all the Request/Response messages are being unnecessarily wrapped into Message Contracts (named as -- "operationName" + "Request"/"Response" + "1" at the end). The code generator says: // CODEGEN: Generating message contract since the operation XXX is neither RPC nor document wrapped. The guys who are generating the wsdl from a Java service say they are specifying DOCUMENT-LITERAL/WRAPPED. Any help/pointer/clue would be highly appreciated. Update: this is a sample of my wsdl for one of the operations that look suspicious. Note the mismatch on the message element attribute for the request, compared to the response. <!- imports namespaces and defines elements --> <wsdl:types> <xsd:schema targetNamespace="http://WHATEVER/" xmlns:xsd_1="http://WHATEVER_1/" xmlns:xsd_2="http://WHATEVER_2/"> <xsd:import namespace="http://WHATEVER_1/" schemaLocation="WHATEVER_1.xsd"/> <xsd:import namespace="http://WHATEVER_2/" schemaLocation="WHATEVER_2.xsd"/> <xsd:element name="myOperationResponse" type="xsd_1:MyOperationResponse"/> <xsd:element name="myOperation" type="xsd_1:MyOperationRequest"/> </xsd:schema> </wsdl:types> <!- declares messages - NOTE the mismatch on the request element attribute compared to response --> <wsdl:message name="myOperationRequest"> <wsdl:part element="tns:myOperation" name="request"/> </wsdl:message> <wsdl:message name="myOperationResponse"> <wsdl:part element="tns:myOperationResponse" name="response"/> </wsdl:message> <!- operations --> <wsdl:portType name="MyService"> <wsdl:operation name="myOperation"> <wsdl:input message="tns:myOperationRequest"/> <wsdl:output message="tns:myOperationResponse"/> <wsdl:fault message="tns:myOperationFault" name="myOperationFault"/> <wsdl:fault message="tns:myOperationFault1" name="myOperationFault1"/> </wsdl:operation> </wsdl:portType> Update 2: I pulled all the types that I had in my imported namespace (they were in a separate xsd) into the wsdl, as I suspected the import could be triggering the message contract generation. To my surprise it was not the case and having all the types defined in the wsdl did not change anything. I then (out of desperation) started constructing wsdls from scratch and playing with the maxOccurs attributes of element attributes contained in a sequence attribute I was able to reproduce the undesired message contract generation behavior. Here's a sample of an element: <xsd:element name="myElement"> <xsd:complexType> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="arg1" type="xsd:string"/> </xsd:sequence> </xsd:complexType> </xsd:element> Playing with maxOccurs on elements that are used as messages (all requests and responses basically) the following happens: maxOccurs = "1" does not trigger the wrapping macOcccurs 1 triggers the wrapping maxOccurs = "unbounded" triggers the wrapping I was not able to reproduce this on my production wsdl yet because the nesting of the types goes very deep, and it's gonna take me time to inspect it thoroughly. In the meanwhile I am hoping it might ring a bell - any help highly appreciated.

  • Visual Basic Cryptography Question

    - by Glenn Sullivan
    I am trying to mimic the results of some C code that uses the OpenSSL library using the system.security.crytography library in the .net 3.5 world, and I can't seem to get it right. I need some help... part of the issue is my understanding of crytography in general. Here's what is supposed to happen: I send a request for authentication to a device. It returns a challenge digest, which I then need to sign with a known key and return The device returns a "success" or "Fail" message. I have the following code snippet that I am trying to "copy": //Seed the PRNG //Cheating here - the PRNG will be seeded when we create a key pair //The key pair is discarded only doing this to seed the PRNG. DSA *temp_dsa = DSA_new(); if(!temp_dsa) { printf("Error: The client had an error with the DSA API\n"); exit(0); } unsigned char seed[20] = "Our Super Secret Key"; temp_dsa = DSA_generate_parameters(128, seed, sizeof(seed), NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL); DSA_free(temp_dsa); //A pointer to the private key. p = (unsigned char *)&priv_key; //Create and allocate a DSA structure from the private key. DSA *priv_dsa = NULL; priv_dsa = d2i_DSAPrivateKey(NULL, &p, sizeof(priv_key)); if(!priv_dsa) { printf("Error: The client had an error with the DSA API\n"); exit(0); } //Allocate memory for the to be computed signature. sigret = OPENSSL_malloc(DSA_size(priv_dsa)); //Sign the challenge digest recieved from the ISC. retval = DSA_sign(0, pResp->data, pResp->data_length, sigret, &siglen, priv_dsa); A few more bits of information: priv_key is a 252 element character array of hex characters that is included. The end result is a 512 (or less) array of characters to send back for validation to the device. Rasmus asked to see the key array. Here it is: unsigned char priv_key[] = {0x30, 0x81, 0xf9, 0x02, 0x01, 0x00, 0x02, 0x41, 0x00, 0xfe, 0xca, 0x97, 0x55, 0x1f, 0xc0, 0xb7, 0x1f, 0xad, 0xf0, 0x93, 0xec, 0x4b, 0x31, 0x94, 0x78, 0x86, 0x82, 0x1b, 0xab, 0xc4, 0x9e, 0x5c, 0x40, 0xd9, 0x89, 0x7d, 0xde, 0x43, 0x38, 0x06, 0x4f, 0x1b, 0x2b, 0xef, 0x5c, 0xb7, 0xff, 0x21, 0xb1, 0x11, 0xe6, 0x9a, 0x81, 0x9a, 0x2b, 0xef, 0x3a, 0xbb, 0x5c, 0xea, 0x76, 0xae, 0x3a, 0x8b, 0x92, 0xd2, 0x7c, 0xf1, 0x89, 0x8e, 0x4d, 0x3f, 0x0d, 0x02, 0x15, 0x00, 0x88, 0x16, 0x1b, 0xf5, 0xda, 0x43, 0xee, 0x4b, 0x58, 0xbb, 0x93, 0xea, 0x4e, 0x2b, 0xda, 0xb9, 0x17, 0xd1, 0xff, 0x21, 0x02, 0x41, 0x00, 0xf6, 0xbb, 0x45, 0xea, 0xda, 0x72, 0x39, 0x4f, 0xc1, 0xdd, 0x02, 0xb4, 0xf3, 0xaa, 0xe5, 0xe2, 0x76, 0xc7, 0xdc, 0x34, 0xb2, 0x0a, 0xd8, 0x69, 0x63, 0xc3, 0x40, 0x2c, 0x58, 0xea, 0xa6, 0xbd, 0x24, 0x8b, 0x6b, 0xaa, 0x4b, 0x41, 0xfc, 0x5f, 0x21, 0x02, 0x3c, 0x27, 0xa9, 0xc7, 0x7a, 0xc8, 0x59, 0xcd, 0x5b, 0xdd, 0x6c, 0x44, 0x48, 0x86, 0xd1, 0x34, 0x46, 0xb0, 0x89, 0x55, 0x50, 0x87, 0x02, 0x41, 0x00, 0x80, 0x29, 0xc6, 0x4a, 0x08, 0x3e, 0x30, 0x54, 0x71, 0x9b, 0x95, 0x49, 0x55, 0x17, 0x70, 0xc7, 0x96, 0x65, 0xc8, 0xc2, 0xe2, 0x8a, 0xe0, 0x5d, 0x9f, 0xe4, 0xb2, 0x1f, 0x20, 0x83, 0x70, 0xbc, 0x88, 0x36, 0x03, 0x29, 0x59, 0xcd, 0xc7, 0xcd, 0xd9, 0x4a, 0xa8, 0x65, 0x24, 0x6a, 0x77, 0x8a, 0x10, 0x88, 0x0d, 0x2f, 0x15, 0x4b, 0xbe, 0xba, 0x13, 0x23, 0xa1, 0x73, 0xa3, 0x04, 0x37, 0xc9, 0x02, 0x14, 0x06, 0x8e, 0xc1, 0x41, 0x40, 0xf1, 0xf6, 0xe1, 0xfa, 0xfb, 0x64, 0x28, 0x02, 0x15, 0xce, 0x47, 0xaa, 0xce, 0x6e, 0xfe}; Can anyone help me translate this code to it's VB.net crypto equivalent?   • Using Xlib via JNA to move a window

    - by rob
    I'm using JNA to manipulate application windows on Linux by sending Xlib messages but can't seem to move a window. My original implementation executed wmctrl on the shell to move the windows and that successfully moved the windows. Unfortunately, there's a noticeable amount of overhead associated with calling shell programs from Java, so now I'm trying to make direct API calls using JNA. I'm using the X11 example available from the JNA website and can successfully do a few tricks, such as enumerating the window IDs and reading window properties, so I know JNA+Xlib is at least partially working. First I tried moving the windows directly using XMoveWindow() but the window manager was apparently blocking those calls. I ran across a thread that suggested I needed to send a client message using XSendMessage(), so I've done that below, but apparently XSendMessage() is failing because the window doesn't move and I get a return value of 0. I'm guessing I omitted something obvious, but can't quite figure it out. Any suggestions? Note that, for the purposes of this example, the main method has a window ID hard-coded. This is the window ID of the window I'm trying to move (obtained using wmctrl -l on the console). import com.sun.jna.NativeLong; import com.sun.jna.Pointer; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.Atom; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.AtomByReference; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.Display; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.Window; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.WindowByReference; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.XEvent; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.XTextProperty; import com.sun.jna.examples.unix.X11.XWindowAttributes; import com.sun.jna.ptr.IntByReference; import com.sun.jna.ptr.NativeLongByReference; import com.sun.jna.ptr.PointerByReference; private static final int FALSE = 0; /** C-style boolean "false" */ private static final int TRUE = 1; /** C-style boolean "true" */ public static void main(String[] args) { setWindowPos(new Window(0x01300007), 100, 100, 600, 400); // update the Window constructor with the appropriate ID given by wmctrl -l } public static boolean setWindowPos(Window window, int x, int y, int w, int h) { final X11 x11 = X11.INSTANCE; Display display = x11.XOpenDisplay(null); NativeLong mask = new NativeLong(X11.SubstructureRedirectMask | X11.SubstructureNotifyMask | X11.ResizeRedirectMask); XEvent event = new XEvent(); String msg = "_NET_MOVERESIZE_WINDOW"; //$NON-NLS-1$ long grflags = 0l; // use the default gravity of the window if (x != -1) grflags |= (1 << 8); if (y != -1) grflags |= (1 << 9); if (w != -1) grflags |= (1 << 10); if (h != -1) grflags |= (1 << 11); event.xclient.type = X11.ClientMessage; event.xclient.serial = new NativeLong(0l); event.xclient.send_event = TRUE; event.xclient.message_type = x11.XInternAtom(display, msg, false); event.xclient.window = window; event.xclient.format = 32; event.xclient.data.l[0] = new NativeLong(grflags); // gravity flags event.xclient.data.l[1] = new NativeLong(x); event.xclient.data.l[2] = new NativeLong(y); event.xclient.data.l[3] = new NativeLong(w); event.xclient.data.l[4] = new NativeLong(h); int status = x11.XSendEvent(display, x11.XDefaultRootWindow(display), FALSE, mask, event); x11.XFlush(display); // need to XFlush if we're not reading X events if (status == 0) { // 0 indicates XSendEvent failed logger.error("setWindowPos: XSendEvent failed (" + msg + ")"); //$NON-NLS-1$ return false; } return true; }

  • Sendmail Failing to Forward Locally Addressed Mail to Exchange Server

    - by DomainSoil
    I've recently gained employment as a web developer with a small company. What they neglected to tell me upon hire was that I would be administrating the server along with my other daily duties. Now, truth be told, I'm not clueless when it comes to these things, but this is my first rodeo working with a rack server/console.. However, I'm confident that I will be able to work through any solutions you provide. Short Description: When a customer places an order via our (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) website, a copy of said order is supposed to be BCC'd to our sales manager. I say supposed because this was a working feature before the old administrator left. Long Description: Shortly after I started, we had a server crash which required a server restart. After restart, we noticed a few features on our site weren't working, but all those have been cleaned up except this one. I had to create an account on our server for root access. When a customer places an order, our sites software (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) is configured to BCC the customers order email to our sales manager. We use a Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server for our mail, which is hosted on a different machine (in-house) that I don't have access to ATM, but I'm sure I could if needed. As far as I can tell, all other external emails work.. Only INTERNAL email addresses fail to deliver. I know this because I've also tested my own internal address via our website. I set up an account with an internal email, made a test order, and never received the email. I changed my email for the account to an external GMail account, and received emails as expected. Let's dive into the logs and config's. For privacy/security reasons, names have been changed to the following: domain.com = Our Top Level Domain. email.local = Our Exchange Server. example.com = ANY other TLD. OLDadmin = Our previous Server Administrator. NEWadmin = Me. SALES@ = Our Sales Manager. Customer# = A Customer. • Delphi 7 SOAP Authentication and SessionID HowTo

    - by Justin Philbrow
    Hello All, I am developing a 3 tier database application. 1.) MS SQL DB 2.) Middle tier SOAP Server (with Delphi 7) connected to the DB 3.) Clients (first win32 gui (with Delphi 7) - later other platfomrs) connected to the SOAP server I chose a SOAP Server to be open to various clients at a later stage (also some of the win32 gui clients will be stationed abroad - so the clients need to be thin) (this as suggested by Dr. Bob). I am new to SOAP and have been looking at different examples and papers about authentication. But cant quite get my head around it. I have made a SOAP server and client with Delphi's SOAP Server Application Wizard and added a SOAP SERVER Data Module, added a database connection and some datasets and providers. Connected the client with dbgrid etc and that part works fine. But I want the client first to login and then be able to access data and I want the server to log each connection and also when the client logs off or is disconnected, so I am guessing I need the sessionID and a timeout. I also want the server to be able to tell the clients who else is "connected" (or whos session is still active) at any given time. I have gathered that I need to make a authentication header, but cant figure out where or who I can get a sessionID. I presume that each time a client connectes to the server the server generates a sessionID? How do I get this? Any help or suggestions/pointer would be appreciated, thanks Justin OK take 2: OK, I have done the following so far (this is used from the example Bank Account SOAP application that comes with Delphi 7): procedure TForm1.btnLoginClick(Sender: TObject); var H: TAuthHeader; Headers: ISOAPHeaders; SoapData: IThorPayServerDB; begin SoapData := HTTPRIOOnForm as IThorPayServerDB; if not(SoapData.login(edtUser.Text,edtPassword.Text)) then begin showmessage('Not correct login'); exit; end; Headers := SoapData as ISoapHeaders; { Get the header from the incoming message } Headers.Get(TAuthHeader, TSoapHeader(H)); try if H < nil then begin FIdKey := H.IdNumber; FTimeStamp := H.TimeStamp; end else ShowMessage('No authentication header received from server'); finally H.Free; end; if FIdKey 0 then showmessage('Authenticated');; end; The SoapData.login returns the correct result, but for some reason I cant get hold of the header. In this case H is nil and the result becomes 'No authentication header received from server'. If I intersept the SOAP xml I can see that the header is there, here is the returned package: 1 1 4208687 2010-05-14T10:03:49.469+03:00 true Anyone any idea? In this case I am not using the SOAPConnetion that I am using for the DB, but a seperate HTTPTRIO component.

  • Joystick input in Java

    - by typoknig
    Hi all, I am making a 2D game in Java and I want to use a joystick to control the movement of some crosshairs. Right now I have it so the mouse can control those crosshairs. My only criteria for this is that the control for the crosshair must stay in the game window unless a user clicks off into another window. Basically I want my game to capture whatever device is controlling the crosshairs much like a virtual machine captures a mouse. The joystick I am using (Thrustmaster Hotas Cougar) comes with some pretty advanced features, so that may make this easier (or harder). I have tried the solution listed on this page, but I am using a 64bit computer and for some reason it does not like that. I have also tried to use the key emulation feature of my joystick, but with little success. Here is what I have so far, any pointer would be appreciated. Main Class: import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.Cursor; import java.awt.event.MouseEvent; import java.awt.event.MouseMotionListener; import java.awt.Graphics; import java.awt.Image; import java.awt.image.BufferStrategy; import java.awt.image.MemoryImageSource; import java.awt.Point; import java.awt.Toolkit; import javax.swing.JFrame; public class Game extends JFrame implements MouseMotionListener{ private int windowWidth = 1280; private int windowHeight = 1024; private Crosshair crosshair; public static void main(String[] args) { new Game(); } public Game() { this.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); this.setSize(windowWidth, windowHeight); this.setResizable(false); this.setLocation(0,0); this.setVisible(true); this.createBufferStrategy(2); addMouseMotionListener(this); initGame(); while(true) { long start = System.currentTimeMillis(); gameLoop(); while(System.currentTimeMillis()-start < 5) { //empty while loop } } } private void initGame() { hideCursor(); crosshair = new Crosshair (windowWidth/2, windowHeight/2); } private void gameLoop() { //game logic drawFrame(); } private void drawFrame() { BufferStrategy bf = this.getBufferStrategy(); Graphics g = (Graphics)bf.getDrawGraphics(); try { g = bf.getDrawGraphics(); Color darkBlue = new Color(0x010040); g.setColor(darkBlue); g.fillRect(0, 0, windowWidth, windowHeight); drawCrossHair(g); } finally { g.dispose(); } bf.show(); Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().sync(); } private void drawCrossHair(Graphics g){ Color yellow = new Color (0xEDFF62); g.setColor(yellow); g.drawOval(crosshair.x, crosshair.y, 40, 40); g.fillArc(crosshair.x + 10, crosshair.y + 21 , 20, 20, -45, -90); g.fillArc(crosshair.x - 1, crosshair.y + 10, 20, 20, -135, -90); g.fillArc(crosshair.x + 10, crosshair.y - 1, 20, 20, -225, -90); g.fillArc(crosshair.x + 21, crosshair.y + 10, 20, 20, -315, -90); } @Override public void mouseDragged(MouseEvent e) { //empty method } @Override public void mouseMoved(MouseEvent e) { crosshair.x = e.getX(); crosshair.y = e.getY(); } private void hideCursor() { int[] pixels = new int[16 * 16]; Image image = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage(new MemoryImageSource(16, 16, pixels, 0, 16)); Cursor transparentCursor = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createCustomCursor(image, new Point(0, 0), "invisiblecursor"); getContentPane().setCursor(transparentCursor); } } Another Class: public class Crosshair{ public int x; public int y; public Crosshair(int x, int y) { this.x = x; this.y = y; } }

  • VFP Unit Matrix Multiply problem on the iPhone

    - by Ian Copland
    Hi. I'm trying to write a Matrix3x3 multiply using the Vector Floating Point on the iPhone, however i'm encountering some problems. This is my first attempt at writing any ARM assembly, so it could be a faily simple solution that i'm not seeing. I've currently got a small application running using a maths library that i've written. I'm investigating into the benifits using the Vector Floating Point Unit would provide so i've taken my matrix multiply and converted it to asm. Previously the application would run without a problem, however now my objects will all randomly disappear. This seems to be caused by the results from my matrix multiply becoming NAN at some point. Heres the code IMatrix3x3 operator*(IMatrix3x3 & _A, IMatrix3x3 & _B) { IMatrix3x3 C; //C++ code for the simulator #if TARGET_IPHONE_SIMULATOR == true C.A0 = _A.A0 * _B.A0 + _A.A1 * _B.B0 + _A.A2 * _B.C0; C.A1 = _A.A0 * _B.A1 + _A.A1 * _B.B1 + _A.A2 * _B.C1; C.A2 = _A.A0 * _B.A2 + _A.A1 * _B.B2 + _A.A2 * _B.C2; C.B0 = _A.B0 * _B.A0 + _A.B1 * _B.B0 + _A.B2 * _B.C0; C.B1 = _A.B0 * _B.A1 + _A.B1 * _B.B1 + _A.B2 * _B.C1; C.B2 = _A.B0 * _B.A2 + _A.B1 * _B.B2 + _A.B2 * _B.C2; C.C0 = _A.C0 * _B.A0 + _A.C1 * _B.B0 + _A.C2 * _B.C0; C.C1 = _A.C0 * _B.A1 + _A.C1 * _B.B1 + _A.C2 * _B.C1; C.C2 = _A.C0 * _B.A2 + _A.C1 * _B.B2 + _A.C2 * _B.C2; //VPU ARM asm for the device #else //create a pointer to the Matrices IMatrix3x3 * pA = &_A; IMatrix3x3 * pB = &_B; IMatrix3x3 * pC = &C; //asm code asm volatile( //turn on a vector depth of 3 "fmrx r0, fpscr \n\t" "bic r0, r0, #0x00370000 \n\t" "orr r0, r0, #0x00020000 \n\t" "fmxr fpscr, r0 \n\t" //load matrix B into the vector bank "fldmias %1, {s8-s16} \n\t" //load the first row of A into the scalar bank "fldmias %0!, {s0-s2} \n\t" //calulate C.A0, C.A1 and C.A2 "fmuls s17, s8, s0 \n\t" "fmacs s17, s11, s1 \n\t" "fmacs s17, s14, s2 \n\t" //save this into the output "fstmias %2!, {s17-s19} \n\t" //load the second row of A into the scalar bank "fldmias %0!, {s0-s2} \n\t" //calulate C.B0, C.B1 and C.B2 "fmuls s17, s8, s0 \n\t" "fmacs s17, s11, s1 \n\t" "fmacs s17, s14, s2 \n\t" //save this into the output "fstmias %2!, {s17-s19} \n\t" //load the third row of A into the scalar bank "fldmias %0!, {s0-s2} \n\t" //calulate C.C0, C.C1 and C.C2 "fmuls s17, s8, s0 \n\t" "fmacs s17, s11, s1 \n\t" "fmacs s17, s14, s2 \n\t" //save this into the output "fstmias %2!, {s17-s19} \n\t" //set the vector depth back to 1 "fmrx r0, fpscr \n\t" "bic r0, r0, #0x00370000 \n\t" "orr r0, r0, #0x00000000 \n\t" "fmxr fpscr, r0 \n\t" //pass the inputs and set the clobber list : "+r"(pA), "+r"(pB), "+r" (pC) : :"cc", "memory","s0", "s1", "s2", "s8", "s9", "s10", "s11", "s12", "s13", "s14", "s15", "s16", "s17", "s18", "s19" ); #endif return C; } As far as i can see that makes sence. While debugging i've managed to notice that if i were to say _A = C prior to the return and after the ASM, _A will not necessarily be equal to C which has only increased my confusion. I had thought it was possibly due to the pointers I'm giving to the VFPU being incrimented by lines such as "fldmias %0!, {s0-s2} \n\t" however my understanding of asm is not good enough to properly understand the problem, nor to see an alternative approach to that line of code. Anyway, I was hoping someone with a greater understanding than me would be able to see a solution, and any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you :-)

  • Need a little help with sound in a JApplet

    - by jacob schuschel
    I am working on a solitaire game in Java, and i need to implement sound when the desk is shuffled, card flipped, etc. I used the following sites as reference to try and get it to work, but i am getting Null Pointer Exceptions or mishandled URL exception (depending on what i tweak). here Also, i am using netbeans 6.7.1 as my IDE. I will try to break down the code and explain: package cardgame; import java.applet.*; import java.util.logging.Level; import java.util.logging.Logger; import javax.swing.JApplet; import javax.swing.*; import java.io.*; import java.net.*; /** * * @author jacob */ public class Sound extends JApplet { private AudioClip song; // Sound player private String URL = null; private URL songPath; // Sound path /* *sound_1 = shuffling cards *sound_2 = to discard *sound_3 = from discard *sound_4 = cardflip 1 *sound_5 = cardflip 2 */ Sound(String filename) { try { songPath = new URL(getCodeBase(),filename); // Get the Sound URL } catch (MalformedURLException ex) { Logger.getLogger(Sound.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } song = getAudioClip(songPath); // Load the Sound } Sound(int i) { URL = "./sounds/sound_" + i + ".wav"; System.out.println(URL); try { songPath = new URL(URL); // Get the Sound URL song = getAudioClip(songPath); } catch (MalformedURLException ex) { Logger.getLogger(Sound.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } } public void playSound() { song.loop(); // Play } public void stopSound() { song.stop(); // Stop } public void playSoundOnce() { song.play(); // Play only once } } The 2 different construcors are for different ways i tried to implement this. The first one creates the filepath, and passes it in. The second one builds the filepath in the constructor, given a sound # (i made a list of what numbers correspond to what sound for reference). I am getting the followig errors out: ./sounds/sound_1.wav Nov 16, 2009 4:14:13 PM cardgame.Sound ./sounds/sound_2.wav SEVERE: null java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: ./sounds/sound_1.wav ./sounds/sound_3.wav at java.net.URL.(URL.java:583) at java.net.URL.(URL.java:480) at java.net.URL.(URL.java:429) ./sounds/sound_4.wav ./sounds/sound_5.wav at cardgame.Sound.(Sound.java:46) at cardgame.Game.loadSounds(Game.java:712) at cardgame.Game.(Game.java:62) at cardgame.Main.main(Main.java:25) Nov 16, 2009 4:14:13 PM cardgame.Sound SEVERE: null java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: ./sounds/sound_2.wav at java.net.URL.(URL.java:583) at java.net.URL.(URL.java:480) at java.net.URL.(URL.java:429) at cardgame.Sound.(Sound.java:46) at cardgame.Game.loadSounds(Game.java:712) at cardgame.Game.(Game.java:62) at cardgame.Main.main(Main.java:25) Nov 16, 2009 4:14:13 PM cardgame.Sound SEVERE: null java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: ./sounds/sound_3.wav at java.net.URL.(URL.java:583) at java.net.URL.(URL.java:480) at java.net.URL.(URL.java:429) at cardgame.Sound.(Sound.java:46) at cardgame.Game.loadSounds(Game.java:712) at cardgame.Game.(Game.java:62) at cardgame.Main.main(Main.java:25) Nov 16, 2009 4:14:13 PM cardgame.Sound SEVERE: null java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: ./sounds/sound_4.wav at java.net.URL.(URL.java:583) at java.net.URL.(URL.java:480) at java.net.URL.(URL.java:429) at cardgame.Sound.(Sound.java:46) at cardgame.Game.loadSounds(Game.java:712) at cardgame.Game.(Game.java:62) at cardgame.Main.main(Main.java:25) Nov 16, 2009 4:14:13 PM cardgame.Sound SEVERE: null java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: ./sounds/sound_5.wav at java.net.URL.(URL.java:583) at java.net.URL.(URL.java:480) at java.net.URL.(URL.java:429) at cardgame.Sound.(Sound.java:46) at cardgame.Game.loadSounds(Game.java:712) at cardgame.Game.(Game.java:62) at cardgame.Main.main(Main.java:25) Thanks for those who read and more thanks to those who help. • Need help with BOOST_FOREACH/compiler bug

    - by Jacek Lawrynowicz
    I know that boost or compiler should be last to blame, but I can't see another explanation here. I'm using msvc 2008 SP1 and boost 1.43. In the following code snippet execution never leaves third BOOST_FOREACH loop typedef Graph<unsigned, unsigned>::VertexIterator Iter; Graph<unsigned, unsigned> g; g.createVertex(0x66); // works fine Iter it = g.getVertices().first, end = g.getVertices().second; for(; it != end; ++it) ; // fine std::pair<Iter, Iter> p = g.getVertices(); BOOST_FOREACH(unsigned handle, p) ; // fine unsigned vertex_count = 0; BOOST_FOREACH(unsigned handle, g.getVertices()) vertex_count++; // oops, infinite loop vertex_count = 0; BOOST_FOREACH(unsigned handle, g.getVertices()) vertex_count++; vertex_count = 0; BOOST_FOREACH(unsigned handle, g.getVertices()) vertex_count++; // ... last block repeated 7 times Iterator code: class Iterator : public boost::iterator_facade<Iterator, unsigned const, boost::bidirectional_traversal_tag> { public: Iterator() : list(NULL), handle(INVALID_ELEMENT_HANDLE) {} explicit Iterator(const VectorElementsList &list, unsigned handle = INVALID_ELEMENT_HANDLE) : list(&list), handle(handle) {} friend std::ostream& operator<<(std::ostream &s, const Iterator &it) { s << "[list: " << it.list <<", handle: " << it.handle << "]"; return s; } private: friend class boost::iterator_core_access; void increment() { handle = list->getNext(handle); } void decrement() { handle = list->getPrev(handle); } unsigned const& dereference() const { return handle; } bool equal(Iterator const& other) const { return handle == other.handle && list == other.list; } const VectorElementsList<T> *list; unsigned handle; }; Some ASM fun: vertex_count = 0; BOOST_FOREACH(unsigned handle, g.getVertices()) // initialization 013E1369 mov edi,dword ptr [___defaultmatherr+8 (13E5034h)] // end iterator handle: 0xFFFFFFFF 013E136F mov ebp,dword ptr [esp+0ACh] // begin iterator handle: 0x0 013E1376 lea esi,[esp+0A8h] // begin iterator list pointer 013E137D mov ebx,esi 013E137F nop // forever loop begin 013E1380 cmp ebp,edi 013E1382 jne main+238h (13E1388h) 013E1384 cmp ebx,esi 013E1386 je main+244h (13E1394h) 013E1388 lea eax,[esp+18h] 013E138C push eax // here iterator is incremented in ram 013E138D call boost::iterator_facade<detail::VectorElementsList<Graph<unsigned int,unsigned int>::VertexWrapper>::Iterator,unsigned int const ,boost::bidirectional_traversal_tag,unsigned int const &,int>::operator++ (13E18E0h) 013E1392 jmp main+230h (13E1380h) vertex_count++; // forever loop end It's easy to see that iterator handle is cached in EBP and it never gets incremented despite of a call to iterator operator++() function. I've replaced Itarator implmentation with one deriving from std::iterator and the issue persisted, so this is not iterator_facade fault. This problem exists only on msvc 2008 SP1 x86 and amd64 release builds. Debug builds on msvc 2008 and debug/release builds on msvc 2010 and gcc 4.4 (linux) works fine. Furthermore the BOOST_FOREACH block must be repeaded exacly 10 times. If it's repeaded 9 times, it's all OK. I guess that due to BOOST_FOREACH use of template trickery (const auto_any), compiler assumes that iterator handle is constant and never reads its real value again. I would be very happy to hear that my code is wrong, correct it and move on with BOOST_FOREACH, which I'm very found of (as opposed to BOOST_FOREVER :).   • C++ custom exceptions: run time performance and passing exceptions from C++ to C

    - by skyeagle
    I am writing a custom C++ exception class (so I can pass exceptions occuring in C++ to another language via a C API). My initial plan of attack was to proceed as follows: //C++ myClass { public: myClass(); ~myClass(); void foo() // throws myException int foo(const int i, const bool b) // throws myException } * myClassPtr; // C API #ifdef __cplusplus extern "C" { #endif myClassPtr MyClass_New(); void MyClass_Destroy(myClassPtr p); void MyClass_Foo(myClassPtr p); int MyClass_FooBar(myClassPtr p, int i, bool b); #ifdef __cplusplus }; #endif I need a way to be able to pass exceptions thrown in the C++ code to the C side. The information I want to pass to the C side is the following: (a). What (b). Where (c). Simple Stack Trace (just the sequence of error messages in order they occured, no debugging info etc) I want to modify my C API, so that the API functions take a pointer to a struct ExceptionInfo, which will contain any exception info (if an exception occured) before consuming the results of the invocation. This raises two questions: Question 1 1. Implementation of each of the C++ methods exposed in the C API needs to be enclosed in a try/catch statement. The performance implications for this seem quite serious (according to this article): "It is a mistake (with high runtime cost) to use C++ exception handling for events that occur frequently, or for events that are handled near the point of detection." At the same time, I remember reading somewhere in my C++ days, that all though exception handling is expensive, it only becmes expensive when an exception actually occurs. So, which is correct?. what to do?. Is there an alternative way that I can trap errors safely and pass the resulting error info to the C API?. Or is this a minor consideration (the article after all, is quite old, and hardware have improved a bit since then). Question 2 I wuld like to modify the exception class given in that article, so that it contains a simple stack trace, and I need some help doing that. Again, in order to make the exception class 'lightweight', I think its a good idea not to include any STL classes, like string or vector (good idea/bad idea?). Which potentially leaves me with a fixed length C string (char*) which will be stack allocated. So I can maybe just keep appending messages (delimted by a unique separator [up to maximum length of buffer])... Its been a while since I did any serious C++ coding, and I will be grateful for the help. BTW, this is what I have come up with so far (I am intentionally, not deriving from std::exception because of the performance reasons mentioned in the article, and I am instead, throwing an integral exception (based on an exception enumeration): class fast_exception { public: fast_exception(int what, char const* file=0, int line=0) : what_(what), line_(line), file_(file) {/*empty*/} int what() const { return what_; } int line() const { return line_; } char const* file() const { return file_; } private: int what_; int line_; char const[MAX_BUFFER_SIZE] file_; }

  • How to use pthread_atfork() and pthread_once() to reinitialize mutexes in child processes

    - by Blair Zajac
    We have a C++ shared library that uses ZeroC's Ice library for RPC and unless we shut down Ice's runtime, we've observed child processes hanging on random mutexes. The Ice runtime starts threads, has many internal mutexes and keeps open file descriptors to servers. Additionally, we have a few of mutexes of our own to protect our internal state. Our shared library is used by hundreds of internal applications so we don't have control over when the process calls fork(), so we need a way to safely shutdown Ice and lock our mutexes while the process forks. Reading the POSIX standard on pthread_atfork() on handling mutexes and internal state: Alternatively, some libraries might have been able to supply just a child routine that reinitializes the mutexes in the library and all associated states to some known value (for example, what it was when the image was originally executed). This approach is not possible, though, because implementations are allowed to fail *_init() and *_destroy() calls for mutexes and locks if the mutex or lock is still locked. In this case, the child routine is not able to reinitialize the mutexes and locks. On Linux, the this test C program returns EPERM from pthread_mutex_unlock() in the child pthread_atfork() handler. Linux requires adding _NP to the PTHREAD_MUTEX_ERRORCHECK macro for it to compile. This program is linked from this good thread. Given that it's technically not safe or legal to unlock or destroy a mutex in the child, I'm thinking it's better to have pointers to mutexes and then have the child make new pthread_mutex_t on the heap and leave the parent's mutexes alone, thereby having a small memory leak. The only issue is how to reinitialize the state of the library and I'm thinking of reseting a pthread_once_t. Maybe because POSIX has an initializer for pthread_once_t that it can be reset to its initial state. #include <pthread.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> static pthread_once_t once_control = PTHREAD_ONCE_INIT; static pthread_mutex_t *mutex_ptr = 0; static void setup_new_mutex() { mutex_ptr = malloc(sizeof(*mutex_ptr)); pthread_mutex_init(mutex_ptr, 0); } static void prepare() { pthread_mutex_lock(mutex_ptr); } static void parent() { pthread_mutex_unlock(mutex_ptr); } static void child() { // Reset the once control. pthread_once_t once = PTHREAD_ONCE_INIT; memcpy(&once_control, &once, sizeof(once_control)); setup_new_mutex(); } static void init() { setup_new_mutex(); pthread_atfork(&prepare, &parent, &child); } int my_library_call(int arg) { pthread_once(&once_control, &init); pthread_mutex_lock(mutex_ptr); // Do something here that requires the lock. int result = 2*arg; pthread_mutex_unlock(mutex_ptr); return result; } In the above sample in the child() I only reset the pthread_once_t by making a copy of a fresh pthread_once_t initialized with PTHREAD_ONCE_INIT. A new pthread_mutex_t is only created when the library function is invoked in the child process. This is hacky but maybe the best way of dealing with this skirting the standards. If the pthread_once_t contains a mutex then the system must have a way of initializing it from its PTHREAD_ONCE_INIT state. If it contains a pointer to a mutex allocated on the heap than it'll be forced to allocate a new one and set the address in the pthread_once_t. I'm hoping it doesn't use the address of the pthread_once_t for anything special which would defeat this. Searching comp.programming.threads group for pthread_atfork() shows a lot of good discussion and how little the POSIX standards really provides to solve this problem. There's also the issue that one should only call async-signal-safe functions from pthread_atfork() handlers, and it appears the most important one is the child handler, where only a memcpy() is done. Does this work? Is there a better way of dealing with the requirements of our shared library?

  • How does one get rid of fishy behavior in Windows?

    After I had boot my computer this morning there suddenly flooded water from the top of the screen, after which some fishes dropped into it. Now I can barely see what I am doing because the water distorts the view. Sometimes the fish follow the cursor so I need to move it away or wait for the fish to mind their own business. This makes it very annoying to use my system. What have I tried? Reboot the system. This caused the water to deplete from the desktop. Upon reboot, the screen was refilled with water and fishes. Attach another monitor. Same problem, fills that monitor as well and gives me extra fish. Clicking the fish. Makes them turn direction. Right clicking the fish. Changes color of the fish, not really useful. I'm locked out of changing the background or screen saver settings. Hence, I had to post the lady below... Safe mode doesn't save me from the fishes. It does give me another background there, but I can't screenshot easily. Other user accounts experience this as well. The Guest account seems to experience more fish than the other accounts. Using HijackThis, OTL Timekeeper List, Syninternal Autoruns, RootKitRevealer, ShellExView and similar tools I can't seem to find any entries that could be it, the Sysinternals tools show everything as verified. I'm suspecting this to be a driver problem. Randomly removing drivers doesn't seem to alleviate the problem. When removing the Graphics Drivers, it makes my screen black. While that could be considered the solution, it's not what I want. Changing the time / date settings does also not seem to affect the fishes. Changing the time a few years in the future, I would have expected the fishes to be dead. But, the same fishes are still there... They simply won't die! Tried to get used to them. They are really bothering me, looks like they require food. I don't know how to give them food, but apparently they get it elsewhere during reboot... Tried to disable my mouse pointer and use the keyboard. This works, they now swim around more randomly. They do put their attention to huge changes on the screen, so I need to type slow. Or otherwise I can't see what I'm tying exactly. Hold my laptop upside down. This seems to affect the water and fishes, but the water stays in the screen. They seem super resistant against water sickness and confusion though... What does the problem look like? What do I need? A way to get rid of these fishes on my screen forever, they are really annoying me a lot and I'm about to crack the screen to see if that makes them escape. Do you have any idea why this problem is occurring? What are my considerations? Buying an USB fish tank could make the fish leave the screen, I am uncertain though whether the fish could leave the screen through the USB cable. Using the FISh (programming language) which seems to provide EXPRESSIVE POWER and EFFICIENT EXECUTION, I can however not find any examples on how to remove fish. What are my Specifications? I'm using a Sony Vaio Fishy laptop. Sony VAIO VGN-Fishy, VAIO. Processor: 1337 MHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, T5432, 1 MB, Intel PM965 Express, 667 MHz. • NSURLConnection request seems to disappear into thin air

    - by ibergmark
    Hi Everybody! I'm having trouble with a NSURLConnection request. My app calls a routine called sayHello to identify a user's device. This code works fine for all devices I've tested it on, but for some devices the request just seems to disappear into thin air with no errors or popups on the device. One specific device that fails is an iPod Touch 2G running OS 3.1.3. The app start's fine and doesn't crash, and none of my error popup messages are displayed. I just can't understand why my server never receives the request since the call to initWithRequest returns a pointer. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. Here's the relevant header info: @interface Globals : NSObject { UserItem *userData; NSURLConnection *urlConnection; NSString *imageCacheLocation; NSOperationQueue *opQueue; } Here's the implementation of sayHello: - (void)sayHello:(BOOL)updateVisits; { NSString *updString; if (updateVisits) updString = @"Y"; else updString = @"N"; NSDictionary *dataDict = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys: [[UIDevice currentDevice] uniqueIdentifier], @"id", kProgVersion, @"pv", @"1", @"pr", userData.tagID, @"tg", updString, @"uv", nil]; NSString *urlString = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:kHelloURL]; urlConnection = [self localPOST:dataDict toUrl:urlString delegate:self]; [dataDict release]; [urlString release]; } - (NSURLConnection *)localPOST:(NSDictionary *)dictionary toUrl:(NSString *)urlString delegate:(id)delegate { NSString *myBounds = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:@"0xKmYbOuNdArY"]; NSMutableData *myPostData = [[NSMutableData alloc] initWithCapacity:10]; NSArray *formKeys = [dictionary allKeys]; for (int i = 0; i < [formKeys count]; i++) { [myPostData appendData:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"--%@\n", myBounds] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; [myPostData appendData:[[NSString stringWithFormat: @"Content-Disposition: form-data; name=\"%@\"\n\n%@\n", [formKeys objectAtIndex:i], [dictionary valueForKey:[formKeys objectAtIndex:i]]] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; } [myPostData appendData:[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"--%@--\n", myBounds] dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]; NSURL *myURL = [[NSURL alloc] initWithString:urlString]; NSMutableURLRequest *myRequest = [[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] initWithURL:myURL cachePolicy:NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringCacheData timeoutInterval:30]; NSString *myContent = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat: @"multipart/form-data; boundary=%@", myBounds]; [myRequest setValue:myContent forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Type"]; [myRequest setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; [myRequest setHTTPBody:myPostData]; NSURLConnection *connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:myRequest delegate:delegate]; if (!connection) { [[Globals sharedGlobals] showAlertWithTitle: NSLocalizedString( @"Connection failed", @"alert title - connection failed") message: NSLocalizedString( @"Could not open a connection.", @"alert message - connection failed")]; } [myBounds release]; [myPostData release]; [myURL release]; [myRequest release]; [myContent release]; return connection; } - (void)handleNetworkError:(NSError *)error { if (networkErrorAlert) return; networkErrorAlert = YES; [[Globals sharedGlobals] showAlertWithTitle: NSLocalizedString( @"Network error", @"alert title - network error") message: [NSString stringWithFormat: NSLocalizedString( @"This app needs a network connection to function properly.", @"alert message - network error")] otherButtons:nil delegate:self]; } - (void) connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { [urlConnection release]; urlConnection = nil; } - (void) connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { [self handleNetworkError:error]; [urlConnection release]; urlConnection = nil; }

  • jQuery dynamic field classes not being assigned as desired.

    - by Simon
    Hello, I'm working on a fancy login page with 4 unique states attributed through classes for each field (normal, focus, active-on, active-off). Normal is the default style. Focus is the focus style when nothing is typed. Active-on is the focus style when something has been typed. Active-off is for field that have user text in them, but are not focused right now. Here's a demo to help you understand what I'm doing: http://www.controlstack.com/login My JS is working almost correctly (thanks to some folks on this site), except in 2 cases: If I enter something in the username field, then tab over to the password field, it does not add the ".focus" class to the password field. If I blur out of the username field, then focus back on it, enter a few characters, then delete them, it does not add the ".focus" field. Here's my code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" dir="ltr"> <head> <title>Login</title> <style> input.field {height: 39px; width: 194px; background: url(login-fields.png) no-repeat; overflow: hidden; border: none; outline: none; float: left; margin-right: 7px;} input.field#username {padding: 0 12px;} input.field#username.focus {background-position: 0 -39px;} input.field#username.active-on {background-position: 0 -78px;} input.field#username.active-off {background-position: 0 -117px;} input.field#password {background-position: -218px 0; padding: 0 12px;} input.field#password.focus {background-position: -218px -39px;} input.field#password.active-on {background-position: -218px -78px;} input.field#password.active-off {background-position: -218px -117px;} input.field#go {background-position: -436px 0; width: 88px; margin: 0; cursor: pointer;} </style> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { loginField = $('.field'); firstField = $('.field.first'); firstField.focus(); loginField.focus(function(){ loginVal1 = loginField.val(); if (!loginVal1){ $(this).removeClass('active-off').addClass('focus'); } else { $(this).removeClass('active-off').addClass('active-on'); } }); loginField.live('keydown', function(){ $(this).addClass('active-on').removeClass('active-off'); }).live('keyup', function(){ $(this).toggleClass('active-on', $(this).val() != ''); }) loginField.blur(function(){ loginVal2 = loginField.val(); if (!loginVal2){ $(this).removeClass('focus').removeClass('active-on'); $(this).val(''); } else { $(this).removeClass('focus').removeClass('active-on').addClass('active-off'); } }); }); </script> </head> <body> <h1>Login to your account</h1> <form method="post" action="/"> <fieldset> <input type="text" class="field first focus" id="username" /> <input type="text" class="field" id="password" /> <input type="submit" value="" class="field" id="go" alt="login" title="login" /> </fieldset> </form> </body> </html> Your help is much appreciated!

  • Python/numpy tricky slicing problem

    - by daver
    Hi stack overflow, I have a problem with some numpy stuff. I need a numpy array to behave in an unusual manner by returning a slice as a view of the data I have sliced, not a copy. So heres an example of what I want to do: Say we have a simple array like this: a = array([1, 0, 0, 0]) I would like to update consecutive entries in the array (moving left to right) with the previous entry from the array, using syntax like this: a[1:] = a[0:3] This would get the following result: a = array([1, 1, 1, 1]) Or something like this: a[1:] = 2*a[:3] # a = [1,2,4,8] To illustrate further I want the following kind of behaviour: for i in range(len(a)): if i == 0 or i+1 == len(a): continue a[i+1] = a[i] Except I want the speed of numpy. The default behavior of numpy is to take a copy of the slice, so what I actually get is this: a = array([1, 1, 0, 0]) I already have this array as a subclass of the ndarray, so I can make further changes to it if need be, I just need the slice on the right hand side to be continually updated as it updates the slice on the left hand side. Am I dreaming or is this magic possible? Update: This is all because I am trying to use Gauss-Seidel iteration to solve a linear algebra problem, more or less. It is a special case involving harmonic functions, I was trying to avoid going into this because its really not necessary and likely to confuse things further, but here goes. The algorithm is this: while not converged: for i in range(len(u[:,0])): for j in range(len(u[0,:])): # skip over boundary entries, i,j == 0 or len(u) u[i,j] = 0.25*(u[i-1,j] + u[i+1,j] + u[i, j-1] + u[i,j+1]) Right? But you can do this two ways, Jacobi involves updating each element with its neighbours without considering updates you have already made until the while loop cycles, to do it in loops you would copy the array then update one array from the copied array. However Gauss-Seidel uses information you have already updated for each of the i-1 and j-1 entries, thus no need for a copy, the loop should essentially 'know' since the array has been re-evaluated after each single element update. That is to say, every time we call up an entry like u[i-1,j] or u[i,j-1] the information calculated in the previous loop will be there. I want to replace this slow and ugly nested loop situation with one nice clean line of code using numpy slicing: u[1:-1,1:-1] = 0.25(u[:-2,1:-1] + u[2:,1:-1] + u[1:-1,:-2] + u[1:-1,2:]) But the result is Jacobi iteration because when you take a slice: u[:,-2,1:-1] you copy the data, thus the slice is not aware of any updates made. Now numpy still loops right? Its not parallel its just a faster way to loop that looks like a parallel operation in python. I want to exploit this behaviour by sort of hacking numpy to return a pointer instead of a copy when I take a slice. Right? Then every time numpy loops, that slice will 'update' or really just replicate whatever happened in the update. To do this I need slices on both sides of the array to be pointers. Anyway if there is some really really clever person out there that awesome, but I've pretty much resigned myself to believing the only answer is to loop in C.

  • Android: Use XML Layout for List Cell rather than Java Code Layout (Widgets)

    - by Stephen Finucane
    Hi, I'm in the process of making a music app and I'm currently working on the library functionality. I'm having some problems, however, in working with a list view (In particular, the cells). I'm trying to move from a simple textview layout in each cell that's created within java to one that uses an XML file for layout (Hence keeping the Java file mostly semantic) This is my original code for the cell layout: public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { String id = null; TextView tv = new TextView(mContext.getApplicationContext()); if (convertView == null) { music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Media.TITLE); musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); id = musiccursor.getString(music_column_index); music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Media.DISPLAY_NAME); musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); id += "\n" + musiccursor.getString(music_column_index); music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Albums.ALBUM); musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); id += "\n" + musiccursor.getString(music_column_index); tv.setText(id); } else tv = (TextView) convertView; return tv; } And my new version: public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { View cellLayout = findViewById(R.id.albums_list_cell); ImageView album_art = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.album_cover); TextView album_title = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.album_title); TextView artist_title = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.artist_title); if (convertView == null) { music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Albums.ALBUM); musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); album_title.setText(musiccursor.getString(music_column_index)); //music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Media.DISPLAY_NAME); //musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Media.TITLE); musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); artist_title.setText(musiccursor.getString(music_column_index)); } else{ cellLayout = (TextView) convertView; } return cellLayout; } The initialisation (done in the on create file): musiclist = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.PhoneMusicList); musiclist.setAdapter(new MusicAdapter(this)); musiclist.setOnItemClickListener(musicgridlistener); And the respective XML files: (main) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <ListView android:id="@+id/PhoneMusicList" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> <TextView android:id="@android:id/empty" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="0dip" android:layout_weight="1.0" android:text="@string/no_list_data" /> </LinearLayout> (albums_list_cell) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/albums_list_cell" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/album_cover" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_width="50dip" android:layout_height="50dip" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/album_title" android:layout_toRightOf="@+id/album_cover" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/artist_title" android:layout_toRightOf="@+id/album_cover" android:layout_below="@+id/album_title" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="15dip" /> </RelativeLayout> In theory (based on the tiny bit of Android I've done so far) this should work..it doesn't though. Logcat gives me a null pointer exception at line 96 of the faulty code, which is the album_title.setText line. It could be a problem with my casting but Google tells me this is ok :D Thanks for any help and let me know if you need more info!

  • In Ruby, how to I read memory values from an external process?

    - by grg-n-sox
    So all I simply want to do is make a Ruby program that reads some values from known memory address in another process's virtual memory. Through my research and basic knowledge of hex editing a running process's x86 assembly in memory, I have found the base address and offsets for the values in memory I want. I do not want to change them; I just want to read them. I asked a developer of a memory editor how to approach this abstract of language and assuming a Windows platform. He told me the Win32API calls for OpenProcess, CreateProcess, ReadProcessMemory, and WriteProcessMemory were the way to go using either C or C++. I think that the way to go would be just using the Win32API class and mapping two instances of it; One for either OpenProcess or CreateProcess, depending on if the user already has th process running or not, and another instance will be mapped to ReadProcessMemory. I probably still need to find the function for getting the list of running processes so I know which running process is the one I want if it is running already. This would take some work to put all together, but I am figuring it wouldn't be too bad to code up. It is just a new area of programming for me since I have never worked this low level from a high level language (well, higher level than C anyways). I am just wondering of the ways to approach this. I could just use a bunch or Win32API calls, but that means having to deal with a bunch of string and array pack and unpacking that is system dependant I want to eventually make this work cross-platform since the process I am reading from is produced from an executable that has multiple platform builds, (I know the memory address changes from system to system. The idea is to have a flat file that contains all memory mappings so the Ruby program can just match the current platform environment to the matching memory mapping.) but from the looks of things I'll just have to make a class that wraps whatever is the current platform's system shared library memory related function calls. For all I know, there could already exist a Ruby gem that takes care of all of this for me that I am just not finding. I could also possibly try editing the executables for each build to make it so whenever the memory values I want to read from are written to by the process, it also writes a copy of the new value to a space in shared memory that I somehow have Ruby make an instance of a class that is a pointer under the hood to that shared memory address and somehow signal to the Ruby program that the value was updated and should be reloaded. Basically a interrupt based system would be nice, but since the purpose of reading these values is just to send to a scoreboard broadcasted from a central server, I could just stick to a polling based system that sends updates at fixed time intervals. I also could just abandon Ruby altogether and go for C or C++ but I do not know those nearly as well. I actually know more x86 than C++ and I only know C as far as system independent ANSI C and have never dealt with shared system libraries before. So is there a gem or lesser known module available that has already done this? If not, then any additional information as to how to accomplish this would be nice. I guess, long story short, how do I do all this? Thanks in advance, Grg PS: Also a confirmation that those Win32API calls should be aimed at the kernel32.dll library would be nice.
