• How to configure TATA Photon+ EC1261 HUAWEI

  I'm running ubuntu 10.04. I have a newly purchased TATA Photon+ Internet connection which supports Windows and Mac. On the Internet I found a article saying that it could be configured on Linux. I followed the steps to install it on Ubuntu from this link. I am still not able to get online, and need some help. Also, it is very slow, but I was told that I would see speeds up to 3.1MB. I dont have wvdial installed and cannot install it from apt as I'm not connected to internet Booting from windows I dowloaded "wvdial" .deb package and tried to install on ubuntu but it's ended with dependency problem. Automatically, don't know how, I got connected to internet only for once. Immediately I installed wvdial package after this I followed the tutorials(I could not browse and upload the files here) . From then it's showing that the device is connected in the network connections but no internet connection. Once I disable the device, it won't show as connected again and I'll have to restart my system. • WIF, ADFS 2 and WCF&ndash;Part 2: The Service

  OK – so let’s first start with a simple WCF service and connect that to ADFS 2 for authentication. Next, the behavior section adds support for metadata and WIF: <behaviors>   <serviceBehaviors>     <behavior>       <serviceMetadata httpsGetEnabled="true" />       <federatedServiceHostConfiguration />     </behavior>   </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> The next step is to add the WIF specific configuration (in <microsoft.identityModel />). First we need to specify the key material that we will use to decrypt the incoming tokens. This is optional for web applications but for web services you need to protect the proof key – so this is mandatory (at least for symmetric proof keys, which is the default): <serviceCertificate>   <certificateReference storeLocation="LocalMachine"                         storeName="My"                         x509FindType="FindBySubjectDistinguishedName"                         findValue="CN=Service" /> </serviceCertificate> You also have to specify which incoming tokens you trust. This is accomplished by registering the thumbprint of the signing keys you want to accept. You get this information from the signing certificate configured in ADFS 2: <issuerNameRegistry type="...ConfigurationBasedIssuerNameRegistry">   <trustedIssuers>     <add thumbprint="d1 … db"           name="ADFS" />   </trustedIssuers> </issuerNameRegistry> The last step (promised) is to add the allowed audience URIs to the configuration – WCF clients use (by default – and we’ll come back to this) the endpoint address of the service: <audienceUris>   <add value="https://machine/soapadfs/service.svc" /> </audienceUris> OK – that’s it – now we have a basic WCF service that uses ADFS 2 for authentication. • How To: Using SimpleMembserhipProvider with MySql Connector/Net.

  Now on Connector/Net 6.9 the users will have the ability to use SimpleMembership Provider on MVC4 templates. The configuration is very simple and also have compatibility with OAuth, in this post we'll explain step by step how to configure it in a MVC 4 Web Application. Requirements  The requirements to use SimpleMembership with Connector/Net are: Install Connector/Net 6.9, or download the No Install version. Net Framework 4.0 or greater. MVC 4  Visual Studio 2012 or newer version Creating and configuring a new project In this example we'll use VS2012 to create the project basis on the Internet Aplication template and using Entity Framework to manage the User model. Open VS 2012 and create a new project, we'll create a new MVC 4 Web Application and configure the project to use Net Framework 4.5. Type a name for the project and then click “Ok”. In the next dialog we'll choose the “Internet Application” template and use Razor as engine without creating a test project. Click “Ok” to continue. Now we have a new project with the templates necessaries to run a Web Application with the default values. We'll use the current files to continue working. If you have installed Connector/Net you can skip this step, if you don't have installed but you're planning to do it, please install it and continue with the next step. If you're using the No Install version of Connector/Net we'll need to add the references to our project, the assemblies needed are: MySql.Data, MySql.Data.Entities and MySql.Web. Be sure that the assemblies chosen match the Net Framework version used in our project and the MySql.Data.Entities is compatible with EF5 (EF5 is the default added by the project). Now open the “web.config” file, and under the <connectionStrings> node add a connection string that points to a MySql instance. We'll use the following connection configuration: <add name="MyConnection" connectionString="server=localhost;UserId=root;password=pass;database=MySqlSimpleMembership;" providerName="MySql.Data.MySqlClient"/> Under the node <system.web> we'll add the following configuration: <membership defaultProvider="MySqlSimpleMembershipProvider"><providers><clear/><add name="MySqlSimpleMembershipProvider" type="MySql.Web.Security.MySqlSimpleMembershipProvider,MySql.Web,Version=6.9.3.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d" applicationName="MySqlSimpleMembershipTest" description="MySQLdefaultapplication" connectionStringName="MyConnection"  userTableName="UserProfile" userIdColumn="UserId" userNameColumn="UserName" autoGenerateTables="True"/></providers></membership> In the previous configuration the mandatory properties are: connectionStringName, userTableName, userIdColumn, userNameColumn and autoGenerateTables. If the other properties are not provided a default value is set to it but if the mandatory properties are not set a ProviderException will be thrown. The valid properties for the MySqlSimpleMembership are the same used for MySqlMembership plus the mandatory fields. UserTableName: Name of the table where will be stored the user, this table is independent from the schema generated by the provider and can be edited later by the user. UserId: name of the column that will store the id for the records in the userTableName. UserName : name of the column that will store the name/user for the records in the userTableName. The connectionStringName property must match a connection string defined in web.config file. Once the configuration is done in web.config, we need to be sure that our database context for the Users Table point to the right connection string. In our case we just need to update the class UsersContext in the file AcountModel.cs in the Models folder. The file also contains the UserProfile class which match the configuration for our UserTable. Other class that needs to be updated is the SimpleMembershipInitializer in the file InitializeSimpleMembershipAttribute.cs in the Filters folder. In that class we'll see a call to the method “WebSecurity.InitializeDatabaseConnection”, in that call is where we need to update the parameters to match our configuration. If the database that you configure in your connection string doesn't exists, you need to create it empty. Now we're ready to run our web application, press F5 or the Run button in the tool bar. You'll see the following screen: If you go to your database used by the application you'll see some tables created, now we are using SimpleMembership. Now create a user, click on “Register” at the top-right in the web page. Type your user name and password, then click on “Register”. You'll be redirected to the home page and you'll see the name of your user at the top-right page. If you take a look on the tables just created in your database you will find the data about the user you just register. In our case the tables that contains the information are UserProfile and Webpages_Membership.  Configuring OAuth Other option to access your website will be using OAuth, so you can validate an user using an external account like Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc. In this post we'll enable the authentication for Google account in our application. Go to the class AuthConfig.cs in the folder App_Start. In the method “RegisterAuth” uncomment the last line where is the call to the method “OauthWebSecurity.RegisterGoogleClient”. Run the application. Once the application is running click on “Login”. You will see at the right side the option to login using a Google account, click on “Google”.  You will be asked for Google credentials. If your login is successful you'll see a message asking for your approval to give permission to your site to access your information. Click on “Accept”. Now a page to register your user will be shown, click on “Register”. Now your new user is logged in in your application. You can take a look of the user information created in the tables  UserProfile and Webpages_OauthMembership. If you want to use another external option to authenticate users you must enable the client in the same class where we enable the Google authentication, but for others providers is mandatory to register your Application in their site. • IIS: No Session being handed out, but only in production

  I've reproduced this in a simple project - details below. It's a WCF service in ASP.NET compatibility mode. What I'm seeing is that when run on the dev machine (Win7), a HTTP session id is available inside the service operation (HttpContext.Current.Session is non-null). But when deployed to the server (Win2k8R2), I get "No session". On both machines the app is configured to use the classic app pool, and the app pools themselves are configured identically as far as I can tell. The only differences I can discern between the two applications is that on the dev box, under "Handler Mappings", ISAPI-dll is disabled (not on the server), and on the server there's a spurious handler called "AboMapperCustom-7105160" (does not exist on the dev box). What should I be looking at next? Am I missing something head-slappingly simple? • WCF Fails when using impersonation over 2 machine boundaries (3 machines)

  These scenarios work in their pieces. Its when i put it all together that it breaks. I have a WCF service using netTCP that uses impersonation to get the callers ID (role based security will be used at this level) on top of this is a WCF service using basicHTTP with TransportCredientialOnly which also uses impersonation I then have a client front end that connects to the basicHttp. the aim of the game is to return the clients username from the netTCP service at the bottom - so ultimatley i can use role based security here. each service is on a different machine - and each service works when you remove any calls they make to other services when you run a client for them both locally and remotley. IE the problem only manifests when you jump accross more than one machine boundary. IE the setup breaks when i connect each part together - but they work fine on their own. • s3fs Input/output error

  i'm trying to set up a backup system with s3fs and the amazon s3 service. i followed this 2 guides: http://qugstart.com/blog/linux/how-to-mount-an-amazon-s3-bucket-as-virtual-drive-on-centos-5-2/ http://blog.eberly.org/2008/10/27/how-i-automated-my-backups-to-amazon-s3-using-rsync/ anyway making a tail to the /var/log/messages i get: Aug 28 13:37:46 server s3fs:###response=403 i already tried creating the authentication file on /etc/passwd-s3fs and setting there the access and private key, passing it trough the command line, i checked several times the credentials and i used it with s3fox, and is working. i also have set the time of the machine (with the date command) to be the same as the amazon S3 servers (i got the time of the S3 server uploading a file with the file manager) not only rsync don't work, commands like ls or cp in the /mnt/s3 didn't work also. any help of how i can solve/debug this?   I have created an Amazon RDS database under the free tier (SQL Server Express, micro instance etc.), but I cannot connect to the server using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. I have configured the security group of the database instance (default) to accept my IP address. I am following the connection guide from amazon located here The error I receive is: Cannot connect to databaseName.c***rnqg***v.us-east-1.rds.amazonaws.com,1433. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 10060) I am using Server type "Database Engine" and using SQL Server Authentication.

  I am trying to get the domain logon script to execute when I connect to VPN. I have a SonicWall 4060PRO, with the SonicOS Enhanced 4.2.0.0-10e. The VPN connects successfully, but the script does not execute. I am posting the log below, but I see two issues. • Enabling SFTP Access within PLESK

  Hello everyone, I have a client who wants to ensure his upload is secure, so we are trying to enable SFTP for him on our Linux PLESK server. I have enabled SSH access to bin/bash for FTP accounts, and created a new user. When I attempt to SFTP using either the IP address or the domain name, this is the error FileZilla is giving me: Error: Authentication failed. Error: Critical error Error: Could not connect to server Here is some basic information regarding the server: Operating system Linux 2.6.24.5-20080421a Plesk Control Panel version psa v8.6.0_build86080930.03 os_CentOS 5 I had read in some places that I should reboot the SSH Service in Server - Services, however, there is no SSH Service within the list. I'm not really a server guy so it's quite possible I'm missing something obvious. Thanks for any help that you guys can provide!

• 401 - Unauthorized On Server 2008 R2 IIS 7.5

  I have a web application deployed to Server 2008 IIS 7.5 box. From remote it gives this error: 401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. (remote = desktops on the same LAN) Have tried several remote clients using different browsers, all the same result. (IE, FF, and Chrome) Hitting the application from the desktop of the server itself works flawlessly. The application is using Anonymous Authentication. The application is written in .NET 4.0 Asp.Net using the MVC framework. Sysinternals procmon returns these 2 results for each request: FAST IO DISALLOWED and PATH NOT FOUND. I have 2 other MVC apps running fine on the same server. I have checked the security on the folders and they all match. App runs fine on a Server 2008 IIS 7.0 box. Nothing shows up in the Event log on the server related to this. Pulling my hair out here, any troubleshooting tips?

• Problems with self-signed SSL certificate for SSTP in Windows Server Foundation 2008

  I am trying to configure SSTP in Windows Server Foundation 2008. I want to use a self-signed SSL certificate to do authentication. When the server is running, I get the following error when trying to connect: 0x800B0109: A certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate that is not trusted by the trust provider. I created the self-signed certificate in the IIS "Server Certificates" panel. From that panel, I exported the certificate, with the private key, to a .pfx file. I installed this certificate on the client computer which I tried to connect from. The certificate bound to the SSL listener in the RRAS-Security panel is present in the Trusted Root Certificate Authority stores on both machines. I've been getting super annoyed setting up certificates. Any advice here?

  I'm new with Rundeck and completely amazed with it and I'm trying to execute a job and my scenario is detailed below: Rundeck is configured with ssh passwordless authentication for user master between node Server (rundeck server) and node Target (remote Solaris host) for user "master" In node Target I want to execute a script /app/acme/stopApp.sh with a user appmanager Normally and manually, when I need to run script above I proceed with ssh master@server sudo su - appmanager or simply ssh -t master@server 'sudo su - appmanager' works without password and finally run (as appmanager) /app/acme/stopApp.sh But I'm not sure how can I reproduce these steps using Rundeck. I read in some previous messages that for each job line rundeck use a new ssh connection, so the workflow below always fails for me with the messages: sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified Remote command failed with exit status 1 Please someone could help me with some information to solve this issue. Without this functionality I wouldn't be able to introduce a little DevOps in my department. I read the user guide and admin guide but I couldn't find an easy example, neither in this forum, to follow.

• Laravel Forge SSH on windows not recognized

  I decided to try out the Laravel Forge, but I'm having trouble with the SSH keys. I use digitalocean.com for the VMs and have used SSH keys with success many times before. However when I paste my public key into Forge (which adds it to the server) I'm not able to connect to it. I use Putty and I get the following error: Disconnected: No supported authentication methods available (server sent: publickey) Key was generated using puttygen and was added to pageant. I have tried using the very same key files as my other VM and tried creating a new one, but all without luck. I'm hoping someone can help me out here. • User Provisioning Tool for SQL Server 2008?

  Yesterday I moved my machine from one domain to another - foolishly forgetting the implications for my local instance of SQL Server! Mixed Mode authentication is not enabled, and the only local account login has only "public" permissions. SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 had a tool called the User Provisioning Tool for Windows Vista (sqlprov.exe) which allowed you to add Domain Users to a local SQL 2005 instance (it doesn't work against SQL 2008 btw) - my question is.. is there a similar tool for SQL Server 2008 or am I going to have to do a reinstall? Also let me know if you think this belongs on StackOverflow

• Active Directory - Lightweight Directory Services and Domain Password Policy

  Greetings all, We have an active directory domain which enforces a strict password policy. Hooray! Now, for the project we are working on, we are going to be storing users of our website Microsoft's AD-LDS service as well as using that for authentication of our web users. By default, it is my understanding that AD-LDS inherits its password policy from the domain of the machine it's installed on. Is there any way to break that link such that we can define a lighter password policy (or none if we so choose) for users in AD-LDS without affecting our domain? Note: AD-LDS is going to be hosted on a machine which is part of the domain. Thanks in advance.

• Google chrome asking for username and password for OWA

  Hi, i have a question about the google chrome browser. When i navigate to my work's Outlook Web Access site to read my emails, the chrome browser is prompting me for a username and password to the server saying "Authentication Required - the server XXXXXX.XXX:443 requires a username and password. After i put them in i then have to enter in the normal OWA username and password to access my emails as per normal. The funny thing is.. 1] If i click CANCEL on the first dialog it takes me to the OWA screen and i can log in normal anyway. However - subqeuent page clicks will keep prompting me each time for the server credentials. 2] I am NOT prompted for server UN and PW if i use IE or fireFox. Does anyone know how to stop chrome from asking me each time? or is it a server setting - i do know that a friend who uses the same browser (chrome) and also OWA does not have the same problem (NB: they work at a different company) Thanks!

• Sonicwall SSL VPN: Unable to reconnect once connection drops

  One of my users is having problems with his NetExtender connection. After installing NetExtender from the portal, it connects fine -- ONCE. After that, attempting to reconnect gives Verifying user...authentication fail! and the log on the router shows: [timestamp] | Info | SSLVPN | Auth Failed: No user name in http request (message id: 1079) This seems odd to me because the user name, password and domain are entered on the NetExtender client. After this error occurs, the only way to connect again is to uninstall, reboot, and reinstall NetExtender. He can connect fine to the Sonicwall SSLVPN demo site, and a different user can connect fine to this site from a different PC. Any clues?

  Hi, I recently finished installing Squid on a VPS I have in the US and its working fine locally (I verified by setting http_proxy variable and using lynx). I want to access this proxy over the internet (as an anonymizer) so that I can see how some ads show up for US traffic on my website. I have setup authentication so abuse is not a problem. However, I am not able to access the proxy over the internet. I have set the following rule in squid.conf http_access allow all Is this not possible to do what I want or I am missing something? The port 3128 is open in the firewall so that is not an issue. Squid is running on 0.0.0.0 Thanks
