• Why does Google mark one e-mail as spam while does not the other?

  I've a Postfix installation which works fine, I don't get any trouble with mails sent through a mail client (in my case, Thunderbird or RoundCube) when the To: address is a GMail account. However, I recently needed to use the PHPMailer tool to send some e-mails to some GMail accounts, so I configured an account to be used via SASL authentication + TLS. I don't mean mass mailing, just 2-3 mails. If I send the e-mail from the Thunderbird or RoundCube clients, the mail is not marked as spam. However, if I use PHPMailer, it always gets catalogued as spam. So I compared both headers and I just can't find the reason why the second is marked as spam while the first one is just ok. • Defunct website taken over by spammer. How to stop them?

  A friend of mine used to publish a small literary fiction magazine, both in print and on the web. In 2011 she announced that she was quitting, put a note on the website, and carefully unwound the subscriptions. She continued hosting the site (with all the back-issues available for free) until the beginning of this year, when she let the hosting lapse and the domain name expire. Today she discovered that some unknown person has purchased her former domain name and put up a modified version of her entire site. The design is different but all the content is the same, including all of the back-issues of the magazine (and the stories by diverse authors contained within), their cover art, news posts, and even her contact information. All the content would have been available from Archive.org, so it's no mystery how they got it. The only thing noticeably changed is a column added to the front page titled "Favorite Videos", with around 35 links to Youtube videos. The links are named things like "Video (Worry)" and "Video (Squirting)" and the videos all feature a man named Leo giving dubious advice and promoting his life-coaching website. Here's one of the suspect videos. There does not appear to be any connection between the content of the videos and my friend or her magazine. I also posted to the Security StackExchange to ask why someone would do this and what the security risks are to her. What I want to know here is, what can she do to stop them? To be clear she doesn't want the domain name back. She just doesn't want her name and copyrighted material used deceptively. Also, what (if anything) could she have done when shutting down her website to avoid this happening?

• Updating an interface to bootstrap

  I'm updating a web apps interface to bootstrap. There's a lot of existing CSS and Javascript/jQuery i'll have to migrate, most i'll scrap and use bootstraps. But for parts of the app that use datatables and such all that code has to be migrated. I'm working on a development server. The app has a header.phtml sidebar.phtml and a lot of content area view files. Right now i'm building static versions of view files say the header. I then open my existing header.phtml into notepad++ split screen with the static file and copy over the dynamic code. Then replace the old header.phtml with the one I just made. To make sure the header displayed correctly I had to add all the CSS and JS from bootstrap. This is conflicting with the current CSS styles and some JS conflicts as well. Should I go through the app note what JS I absolutely need what I don't and same with the CSS. Then strip all the CSS/JS from the old app that is not needed so it only has bootstraps and any other critical files and not worry about the way pages look as i'm making progress to updating them. I'd be working on mostly a wireframe of the old site without any styles until I get to applying bootstraps. Is this efficient or is there another way I can get through all these files and update them easily?

• E-commerce for custom orders/customer image upload

  We have a client that needs an e-commerce site set up pretty quickly. As I have no experience with e-commerce, I am looking for some guidance. Basically, the two big features we need are: Ability for customer to add info about order (example: the name the customer wants to be put on the customizable product they ordered) Ability for customer to upload photo of product to be customized I hope this makes sense. Right now I am really looking into Shopify, but I can't tell if it does everything we need. I know you can add order notes when checking out, but not sure about image upload (maybe it can be added as an app through the API?).

  I'm a beginner in PHP I was wondering if this is easy to do or if i'd have to outsource this to a programmer - Basically when a user fills in the PHP Form and submits it I need this to generate as a PDF which will then email/attach to MY email and NOT the user who submitted this form. I have looked at tcpdf, fpdi but i dont think any of those scripts allow me to do this specifically as from what i heard it generates a download link for the user, and that is not what i need. I suppose we could use something like Doodle, but that would involve recreating the Doodle every week. There are many scheduling tools available, but they're usually built so that you can sign up to meet with a specific individual (think a doctor or a professor's office hours), whereas you could be paired with ANY individual.

  I am looking to add tags to each product on my site e.g. brown, x products under £x, second hand x, refurbished x etc. Once you click these tags it will then search for other tags that are similar. I was thinking of using a url structure of www.site.com/tags/this%is%the%tag%name and then simply have a page that shows the results of all the products with that tag. I heard a while back that google generally ignores or downgrades anything with ‘search’ in the url and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this? Also, would you say /tags/ is a pretty valid destination or is it best to break it down and add more levels e.g. /product-type/product%variation Thanks in advance!

  My employer was recently contacted by a company who convinced my employer that they could do what they called search engine placement and that they can guaranty that we will be placed on he top of googles search results. I immediately told my employer that it sounded like a scam, but I was made to contact the company regardless and investigate. The sales person insisted that SEP was different than the SEO and ad words campaigns we are already performing and that it was a cheaper way to be listed in the adwords section and that it didn't include a cost per click. It sounds to me like its kinda scammy like they are going to setup an adwords campaign and just charge us a flat rate that is higher than the cost per clicks. Has anyone heard of this and is it at all legitimate?

After transaction if we do reverse transaction it disappears from transactions list. Is it the expected behavior or abnormal behavior? But, if we check the same order data in sales performance, the reverse transaction does not reflects on when we created the transaction, it reflecting on when we made reverse transaction date. It should not be do like this. The reverse transaction should affect the same date on when we made transaction date.

• Google doesn't seem to update the description or title of my homepage

  Before we launched our website, we had set up a "coming soon" page and google picked up the title and description from its contents. So the description in the search results said, "Coming soon! Visit epicwhale.org for updates." It's been a few weeks since we launched our website. We've even created a sitemap and submitted it to google. In the google webmaster panel, the pages have been crawled and all the pages are appearing as expected on google, EXCEPT the homepage which is still not updated! The title and description of the homepage in google search results still says coming soon.. The website I am referring to is textmewidget.com and below are the images of the search result. (I'd rather not manage the server myself as I'm still rather new to Linux.) I'm not sure if phrasing this as a "which is best" would make sense, but what advantages does cloud hosting have over dedicated server hosting? I need a reliable service above all else, and some elements of the application to be hosted will be relatively CPU intensive, although those spikes in CPU usage will be sporadic, so the hosting needs to be able to deal with that.

• Should I use the same Google Analytics code for my website and native mobile app?

  My website is a forum. The native mobile app's only function is to access the forum and provide a better experience than can be provided through the browser. Given that the same content is being accessed, should I use the same Google Analytics tracking code? Or should I create a new property and select "Not a website" when it asks for the website?   I've tried transferring SSL issued by GoDaddy to Linux based server. The website was originally hosted in Windows. After the installation is completed, I got a message like this in cPanel: Certificate ID: *********** Domains: xxxxsomethingxxxxx.com Issuer: GoDaddy.com, Inc. Key Size: 2,048 bits Expiration: Feb 10, 2015 10:05:10 PM Does that look fine? Does the Issuer still remain as GoDaddy? Now how do I test to see if this is in fact working? After installing the SSL in the Linux server, do I now need to do something in GoDaddy or in the previous Windows server to indicate that the SSL has now been transferred to the new server?

  I'm stuck with a crappy digital signage platform that only renders .html and .swf files (and rss feeds) No customization of rss, only way to show something dynamic in a pretty way is to use flash. The question: is there any way to embed javascript in swf files or somehow have facebook and twitter flash plugins? I looked for ready-made swf widgets for the job but didn't find any, if there is any flash widget that serves a facebook and/or twitter feed please give me a link. (sorry if the question is out of context but these things usually run a stripped-down browser to display everything so its pretty much a web page run from a file and not a web server)

• n00b needs some PHP syntax guidance [closed]

I've been able to make the page numbers work by changing page to paged= in the code. I don't know enough about PHP to get the previous/next options to work.
