• How do I run my C# application in scheduled tasks when I am not logged in

  I have a C# console application that just processes data. The problem is that when I log off, the console application ends. If I schedule the application to run at a set time and I am not logged in, the application does not run at all. I can run it interactively by double clicking the exe and I can open scheduled tasks and run it by right clicking and selecting run. As soon as I log out, the application ends. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

• Sporadic name resolution failure happening on web service call

  One of our wcf service applications calls a seperate third party web service to submit information. We are getting the following error every so often, but not all the time: System.Net.WebException: The remote name could not be resolved: 'ws.examplesite.net' at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) The wierd thing is that after the error happens, we can hit "Submit" again a second later and it will go through just fine. We have checked and double checked with our network guys and they have confirmed that DNS is correct, and they have done multiple nslookups in a row to confirm. This is happening in all environments (dev, test and prod). We use the third party test and prod urls, and it is happening when we point to both. Does anyone have any other trouble shooting techniques for this or any reason this would happen? Much thanks, ~Ansley

• fast, clean, C, timsort implementation?

  Does anyone know of a clean implementation of timsort? The Python sources contain a description and code for the original timsort, but it is understandably full of python-specific calls. I have a smoothly varying 2D array of double floats that I would like to sort as quickly as possible. It ought to contain a lot of monotonically increasing and decreasing runs. I'd like to try timsorting the rows individually, and then merging the sorted rows. If you know of a better sort technique, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

• shell_exec escaping quotes in php for Twitter API

  I'm (lazily) using shell_exec() to execute a Twitter API Call. shell_exec('curl -u user:password -d "id=3191321" http://api.twitter.com/1/twitterapi/twitterlist/members.xml'); That works fine when I authenticate correctly and put in a number for the id. But when I try to put in a variable ($id), it screws up. $addtolist = shell_exec('curl -u pxlist:Weekend1 -d "id='.$id.'" http://twitter.com/username/twitterlist/members.xml'); I tried flipping the quote types $addtolist = shell_exec("curl -u pxlist:Weekend1 -d 'id=$id' http://twitter.com/username/twitterlist/members.xml"); I tried using double quotes and escaping them $addtolist = shell_exec("curl -u pxlist:Weekend1 -d \"id=$id\" http://twitter.com/username/twitterlist/members.xml"); None of them worked. I double click it and VS will open it with kind of design diagram. I can create/delete/modify table here? I can use add new item to add the Linq to SQL Classes to get a dbml file? what's next? generate tables in database? generate sql script? generate cs files? when? how?

  Several users have reported that if they launch Excel by double-clicking an Excel file, the add-in will not load. But, if they open Excel via the Start menu (or Quick launch toolbar) the add-in loads fine. Some details, in case they help: It is a COM add-in, written in VB6. The problem has been reported on Windows XP/Excel 2003 and Vista/Excel 2007 systems. The add-in implements IDTExtensibility2. The start mode is set to "Load on Startup". Any thoughts on the cause or how to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated.

• Sending emails to site subscribers

  I have a site where people enter their email address to be reminded of a weekly posting. I only send them the weekly email that they double-opt-in for. I do not sell, trade, expose, or do anything else with their address. Right now I have a bit of a hack, connecting to a large email providers SMTP server to send the emails. As the site grows I fear that my emails will be marked as spam and that I will be violating the TOS of the provider. I'm considering two options, building an in-house SMTP server or using a mailing list service. Is there a best-known-method for this? I'd really prefer to simply build my email and use a script to send them through the SMTP server rather then use some GUI to build the email and import a list of addresses. But previous experience tells me that running a mail server and not being marked as spam can be difficult. Help!?

  Hi all, I keep receiving an error with the following code. I am trying to make a function that will format a field (content=0.0032) into a varchar/percent (content=0.32%). At the moment i'm just trying to get format to work, and it throws up an error "Error Code : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'len);" The function definition for "Format" is "Format(X,d)" where x is the number and d is the number of decimal places to round too. • SQL Split function that handles string with delimeter appearing between text qualifiers?

  There are several SQL split functions, from loop driven, to using xml commands, and even using a numbers table. I haven't found one that supports text qualifiers. Using the example string below, I would like to split on ",", but not when it appears between double or single quotes. • Javacript in html - Using single quote inside another single quote

Problem is printing hello or any other string. If I just type 123 in place of hello, it does give alert. But am not able to use a string like hello there. Normally a string in an alert function is kept inside quotes ' ' but the entire content is inside double quotes and I have already used single quote at the beginning of onclick function. I tried using Escape character ("\") but it didnt help. Any suggestions?

• Are there alternatives to UltraWinGrid (for C#)?

  I've been using the Infragistics UltraWinGrid for a while in a C# project, and while it's very spiffy, it is sometimes a bit heavy to run (and editing it in Visual Studio can be hazardous). I'm looking for a lighter alternative. Looks (always a big plus with Infragistics) are not as important as functionality. Namely, I'm looking for a beefed up DataGridView which: has data binding (duh!) has lock control over editing allows for sub-tables on opening a row can have multiple headers to group columns together (say header 1 is composed of "Group A" and "Group B", and header 2 has various columns under each group) has sorting by column (and can sort numbers properly, even if it does not have a stock method at first) has filtering by column (perhaps the most demanding spec) à la UltraWinGrid/Excel (text field with a way to specify if the filter is equal, not equal, greater, lesser, starts with, ends with, etc). supports check box, text box or data bound list/combo box cells allows cells to be merged (not the control cells of course!) can have events bound to each row (say double click)

• Why does Xcode launch the iPhone simulator when the iPad simulator is selected?

  When I open an existing iPad project in Xcode and "Build and Run" it, it launches the iPhone simulator when I have the iPad Simulator set as the active executable? Inside the iPhone simulator is a shrunken version of the iPad. What is going on? How do I get it to run the iPad simulator? Note: When the iPhone Simulator is running, I double checked the Hardware-Device setting and it's set to iPad. This is what I want, of course, but I don't want it to run the iPhone simulator. I seem to recall it used to run an iPad simulator. Is there such a thing or am I tripping and there is only an iPhone simulator that can run iPad apps? Thanks in advance for your help!

The problem is whether I should declare the function at the start of my script. I found that if I don't declare it, and when I compile the code in 32 bit Windows, then the result is correct. But if I compile the code in 64 bit Windows, then the result won't be correct. Why this is so? Is external routine must always be declared?

I read documentation several times and realize there is 2 mapped file, one in iostream and the other in interprocess. Do you guys have any idea on how to create a mapped file into shared memory.   I am trying to implement InApp purchase in my application. I have implemented it as per Apple's programming guide and it(code) was working fine until I created new application, appid, provisioning profile and in-app products @ another developer account. Now, it gives me following error. Error Domain=SKErrorDomain Code=3 UserInfo=0x2a5a00 "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" Same code works fine if I use previous developer account's appid, pro-certificate and product ids. This is very strange issue, I double checked product id names and other things still facing same error. Any clue..?

• Is it possible to share a C struct in shared memory between apps compiled with different compilers?

  I realize that in general the C and C++ standards gives compiler writers a lot of latitude. But in particular it guarantees that POD types like C struct members have to be laid out in memory the same order that they're listed in the structs definition, and most compilers provide extensions letting you fix the alignment of members. So if you had a header that defined a struct and manually specified the alignment of its members, then compiled two apps with different compilers using the header, shouldn't one app be able to write an instance of the struct into shared memory and the other app be able to read it without errors? I am assuming though that the size of the types contained is consistent across two compilers on the same architecture (it has to be the same platform already since we're talking about shared memory). I realize that this is not always true for some types (e.g. long vs. long long in GCC and MSVC 64-bit) but nowadays there are uint16_t, uint32_t, etc. types, and float and double are specified by IEEE standards.

• Visual Basic 2010: How to make window/form become active foreground?

  I'm using Visual Basic 2010 Express. I have a form that can be minimized. There's also a tray icon. I've coded it so that if you double-click on the tray icon, the form's FormWindowState becomes set to Normal; this restores the form to where it to where it was before it became minimized, but the form does not become the active window on my desktop. How can I make the form become the active most foreground window? I've tried various functions that I can think of but no luck yet. Tried searching with various queries to try and find the right wording but no luck. I'm new to Visual Basic - only started a couple hours ago. Probably something simple but I can't seem to find the correct function or anything... Please enlighten me! Thanks.

  I'm pulling my hair out over this. I just downloaded the iphone 3.0 SDK, but now I can't get my provisioning profiles to work. Here is what I have tried: Delete all provisioning profiles Delete login keychain Create new "login" keychain, make it default Create a new cert signing request Create new developer and distribution certs in the apple developer center Download and install them Download the WWDR cert and install it Create a new provisioning profile and double click it to install All the certificates report as valid, but xcode still won't recognize them. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks Edit: I completely re-installed osx and from a fresh install installed the 3.0 sdk and still the same problem.

• deleting registry key, using Visual Studio 2008 setup and deployment project in windows 7

  I have created a setup and deployment project in Visual Studio 2008 Professional. I'm using Visual C++, and in it I have two exe files which run under custom actions. One is running in commit and other in uninstall. Purpose is to add a registry key at install time and remove it at uninstall. It works perfectly on Windows XP but when I change to Windows 7 and run the setup, only the key-adding part works. The key doesn't get deleted at uninstall. But when I take the uninstall exe file out from the setup and run it separately on Windows 7, (not through the setup, by just double-clicking on the exe) it removes the registry entry perfectly. Any idea what the problem is?

  Hi all I am converting an ASP.Net 2.0 Project to compile for .Net Framework 3.5 and facing the following compiler error for assembly reference... InternalXmlHelper.vb(9,0): error BC30560: 'ExtensionAttribute' is ambiguous in the namespace 'System.Runtime.CompilerServices'. It appears that there are duplicate assembly references one from 2.0 and the other from 3.5 but i have double checked it and its not the issue.. I have also googled around...with no success.. I have sure that i am doing some tiny mistake in additiona or removal of references,,,Is there any special thing that needs to be checked or done when compiling asp.net 2.0 project under .Net Framework 3.5 ?   The mark " in Vim takes you to your last edit position. I want to create an alias that will open my Vim instance and jump to that mark; something which is obviously extremely useful. This works from the command line: $ vim -c "'\"" File.cpp Now I want to make an alias for this: $ alias v='vim -c "'\"" File.cpp' Well that's not going to work! You need to escape the first single quote you say... $ alias v='vim -c "\'\"" File.cpp' Hmm. That didn't work either... So I try a whole lot of variations of single quoted and double quoted madness, bang my head against the table and load up stackoverflow in my browser, and here we are. How do I properly escape this alias?
