• mounting without -o loop

  Hi, I have written a dummy (ram disk) block device driver for linux kernel. When the driver is loaded, I can see it as /dev/mybd. I can successfully transfer data onto it using dd command, compare the copied data successfully. The problem is that when I create ext2/3 filesystem on it, I have to use -o loop option with the mount command. Otherwise mount fails with following result: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on mybd, missing codepage or helper program, or other error What could be the problem? Please help. • Best way to order menu items injected by an IoC/plugin Framework

  One of the common things I've seen done in applications built on IoC/plugin frameworks is to add commands to menus or toolbars from the dynamically loaded plugins. For example, the application's default plugins supply actions like "New, Open, Save" that show up in the context menu for a certain item in the workspace. A new plugin may add "Mail, Post, Encrypt" commands, but where do those commands show up in relation to "New, Open, Save"? How can the application that is loading components through IoC impose order on the items that get injected? Does it require metadata from the plugins that give a hint on how to group or order the items? Does it use a config file of previously known menu names (or ids) to define the order (seems a little weak to me)? Or are "unknown" plugins treated as second class citizens and always get dumped into sub menus? Something I've never even imagined (which I'm hoping to see in the answers)

  Hello there, so here is my problem: I have several different configuarion servers. I have different calculations (jobs), I can predict how long approx. each job will take to be caclulated. Also I have priorities. My question is how to keep all machines loaded 99-100% and shedule the jobs in the best way. Each machine can do several calculations at the time. Jobs are pushed to the machine. Central machine knows current load of each machine. Also I would like to to assign some king of machine learning here, because I will know statistics of each job (started, finished, cpu load etc.). How to distribute jobs(calculations) in the best possible way, also keep in mind priority. Any suggestions ? Ideas ? Algorithms ?

• ASP: runat=server for dynamic control

  In the Page_Load method I create a couple of controls, based on various conditions. I would like to register server side code with those controls. However, for the last part I need to declare my controls as server controls. This is normally done by runat=server, but I don't know how to set this attribute in the C# code. myControl.Attributes.Add("runat", "server") does not do the trick. This one works, meaning that the "test" method is called when I click on it: <asp:LinkButton ID="LinkButton1" runat="server" OnClick="test">testtext</asp:LinkButton> This one does not work: LinkButton lb = new LinkButton(); lb.ID = "LinkButton1"; lb.OnClientClick = "test"; lb.Text = "testtext"; lb.Attributes.Add("runat", "server"); I can click on it, and the page is loaded, but the test-method is not called. Any hints?

  I saved a PublicKey instance in a file using ObjectOutputStream. This file is then stored inside a jar file which is then loaded by JBoss. I'm trying to read this file but it throws me an exception telling that it's not serializable. • How to pass associative Array parameter from javascript to ActiveX object?

  I'd like to pass an associative array (or simply an object with property names & values) to my ActiveXObject. I can't find anyone who has successfully and simply passed complex data from javascript to an ActiveX object. My ActiveX object is being loaded in IE, and it's mine so I can change the method signature & code to whatever will work. I also have control over the structure of the javascript. Without a simple way of doing this I'm thinking of url-encoding the data and sending it as a string. But that does seem a little silly if it's possible just to pass an object. The ActiveX object is coded in C# if that makes any difference...

• PHP Included files writing their own content from Importer values ...

  Hello, I have a index.php file that will include several external files: "content/templates/id1/template.php" "content/templates/id2/template.php" "content/templates/id3/template.php" etc. All these files are loaded dynamically into index.php (it reads all folders inside "templates" directory and then includes every "template.php" file). I want to make "template.php" to have the same code in all the "id1,id2,id3" folders, BUT to load values from index.php depending in which folder it stays.. How can I do that? Thank You!

• C# WebClient - View source question

  I'm using a C# WebClient to post login details to a page and read the all the results. The page I am trying to load includes flash (which, in the browser, translates into HTML). I'm guessing it's flash to avoid being picked up by search engines??? The flash I am interested in is just text (not an image/video) etc and when I "View Selection Source" in firefox I do actually see the text, within HTML, that I want to see. (Interestingly when I view the source for the whole page I do not see the text, within HTML, that I want to see. Could this be related?) Currently after I have posted my login details, and loaded the HTML back, I see the page which does NOT show the flash HTML (as if I had viewed source for the whole page). • What could be adding "Pragma:no-cache" to my response Headers? (Apache, PHP)

  I have a website whose maintenance I've inherited, which is a big hairy mess. One of the things i'm doing is improving performance. Among other things, I'm adding Expires headers to images. Now, there are some images that are served through a PHP file, and I notice that they do have the Expires header, but they also get loaded every time. Looking at Response Headers, I see this: Expires Wed, 15 Jun 2011 18:11:55 GMT Cache-Control no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0 Pragma no-cache Which obviously explains the problem. Now, i've looked all over the code base, and it doesn't say "pragma" anywhere. .htaccess doesn't seem to have anything related either. Any ideas who could be setting those "pragma" (and "cache-control") headers, and how I can avoid it? Thanks! Daniel

Of course, I'm using a basic MVC design and my question concerns the Model layer. For my application, the Model represents data fetched on the Internet with a XML-RPC API. I'm planning to use Core Data to represent a locally fetched version. How should the data be loaded initially? I'm reading the Cocoa Design Pattern book, and they talk about a Model-Controller that is centric to the Model. How would that be done? Thanks!

  I need to use Subversion with Eclipse on Mac Lion. I encounter problem as below I saw: Subclipse in Mac OS Lion In my context: I use Mac OS Line 10.7.2 Eclipse version: 3.7.1 64 bit I install Subversion: Universal Subversion 1.6.17 Binaries for Lion (Mac OS X 10.7) in the page: http://www.open.collab.net/downloads/community/ I install Subclipse by the "Install New Software..." feature of Eclipse with the update link: http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.8.x It install Subclipse 1.8.2, JavaHL 1.7.1.1 and some other packages. When I go to menu Preferences/ Team / SVN , it produce error: "Incompatible JavaHL library loaded. 1.7.x or later required." I find to install SVN Kit, so use it instead of JavaHL as the very first link refer (here), but I don't see it in Subclipse package.

• problem when opening new window in asp.net application, new window didnt show anything

  Hello I have an asp.net application which I used some Ajax method. in some cases I open an new window ( Full Screen ) and users must work on it. the problem is , some users report me that some times new window was blank and didnt show any content , in status bar just write connecting .... and nothing else. Just when customers closed all opening browser and open again , they can view pages. this happend when users work for a while and click open new window links before the page loaded compeletly. how can I fix this problem? regards

  I'm loading an html snippet via ajax to append to a div (I use jquery). In other browsers it seems that the code is not executed at all. Is there a solution for this?

  I am writing a Win32 DLL library that can be redistributed. I am using different versions of the windows API because I want to support Windows 7 functions, but still have support for Windows 2000 (with some function disabled). What I have currently is MyLib2000.dll, MyLibXP.dll, and MyLibVista.dll, and my application chooses which library to load at runtime. I want a way to have a single DLL (MyLib.dll) that stores the other three in itself and when it's being loaded, it extracts the correct DLL out of itself and loads it. I know this is not the best way to do this, so suggestions on another method of doing this is welcome.

• executing a class in remote jvm

  Hi All, I have a small test class that i want to run on a particular jvm that's already up and running (basically it's an web application running on Tomcat) . The reason i want to do this is i want to execute a small test class (with the main method and all) within that jvm so that i get the same environment (loaded and initialized classes) for my test class. Is it possible to indicate that ,say through a jvm parameter, that it should not initialize a new vm to execute my class but instead go and execute on the remote vm and show me the result here, on my console. So the local jvm acts as a kind of thin proxy ? I am not aware in case there are some tools that should make this possible ... also heard somewhere that java 6 jvm comes with an option like this , is that true ?? Please help me. Thanks,

• Android RelativeLayout spacing

  Hi, I'm just putting the finishing touches to my Android app. Unfortunately, I dug straight into development without reading the documentation and built my layout with AbsoluteLayout and it turned out to look terrible when I loaded the app on my phone. Now I'm redoing the UI in a RelativeLayout and I want to put empty canvas space in between my ViewGroups in the y-direction. I am currently achieving this by putting random TextView sentences that are of the same color as my View's background in order to make psuedo-empty space. Is there a better way to do this, because right now when I define a specific ViewGroup to be placed below another View, it gets stuck right below the top View. As I was writing this, it dawned upon me that using padding might be the answer.... Any other suggestions?

• "Error opening associated documents" message when loading VS

  When loading up a solution in VS2008 I get this message: An error was encountered while opening associated documents the last time this solution was loaded. Document load is being skipped during this solution load in order to avoid that error. It shut down immediately the first time I opened it. The next time I opened it, VS popped up a message box but did not shut down at first; however, it did shut down when I clicked a usercontrol or ASPX page. How can I find which document is causing the problem? Thanks...

  I am trying to make an extension as part of which i want certain words in the web pages to be highlighted. The document.body.innerHTML.replace() replaces the url in the address bar as well. So the moment this code gets exwecuted the page doesnt get loaded properly..   Hi, Could you please help me,I have an application, in which I do a BULK INSERT the contents of a csv file into a table through stored procedure, the stored Procedure uses BULK INSERT (SQL Server 2005). This Works fine in a standalone system. However when I use the same in a multitier (Web server, Application Server and DB Server) architecture it is throwing 4861 error. Could you please help? The Files are stored in the Web Server. The Translated error message below: " Error – 2147217900:4861: Since it can not be opened for the file \Servername\c$\Folder1\Folder2\Folder3\file.csv, It can not be loaded with large capacity.   I am quite the beginner - but I have a lot of experience with respect to Electrical Engineering and formulas - over 30 years worth! Trying to construct an app for the iPhone. Loaded the SDK, bought myself a Mac, got a couple of "Chapter" pages written by John at Alpha Aviation - who recomended I try this site. How do I - well for example I enetered 400/1.732 - it came out like it was a web address with an underline! How can I get mathematical symbols like - sqare root, to the power of, subscript, superscript. I'd like to insert a few "calculator" pages but don't know how to. Appreciate I have only been doing this for the last week or so - so I am still quite rusty compared to what I wrote many years ago. Can anyone help? cheers

• Reading web-service information from assembly app.config file

  I have a plugin architecture solution written in .NET C# 3.5, where each plug-in is an assembly loaded by the main project. Each plug-in connects to a different web-service, so I would like to have the configuration of that plugin in its own plugin.dll.config file instead of having it in the app.config of the main project. I have been looking around and I saw that i could load from each class its own config file: // Get the application configuration file. System.Configuration.Configuration config = ConfigurationManager.OpenMappedExeConfiguration(fileMap,userLevel) I see how that would help me get the basic settings from the appSettings section, but I cant see a way to read the web-service information stored in the plugin.dll.config file. Any help on how to approach this situation is very welcome.

  I have known that If you define a bunch of @"" NSString objects in the source code in Mac OS. These NSStrings will be stored in a segment in the Mach-O library. What I want to know is how does the loader in Mac OS X load these NSStrings when the program runs? Are they loaded simpily by recognize the 0x0000 separator or these is a string offset table elsewhere in the binary pointing to separate NSString objects? Thanks. (What I really want to do is the increase the length of one of the NSString, so I have to know how the loader recognize these separate objects)

• Morphing content based on window part focus

  What I'm trying to achieve is basically have a code that will morph ( move around the page ) based on the part of the window which is currently viewed. Scenario : - actual page height : 2000px - actual screen height( pc, laptop whatever ) : 800px - 1 image of 600px - 3 div's or virtual boxes ( just to prove what I want to do ) Workflow When you open the page, you'd see the first part of the page with the image loaded in the first div. What I want and need to achieve is when scrolling the page, and the focus would be on the second div ( or the image simply gets out of focus - you can't see it no more ), the image would move ( disappear from the first box ) and appear in the second one, which is currently visible. The idea might seem pretty easy but I'm not Javascript savvy. Ideally, the answer should include a way to load a Javascript instead of that image.
