• How can I use SVN to manage my Firefox Extension project?

  I'm using SVN to manage my Firefox extension project, and this project contains an XPCOM component. Firefox is loading directly from my working directory by placing a text file with the working directory's path in the ./extensions directory of my user profile. When Firefox starts, my extension fails to load & overlay; examining the Error Console, I see that the error states that ".svn cannot be loaded as a component" - a reference to the .svn directory inside my "components" directory of the plug-in structure. Is there any way to get Firefox to ignore this directory, or get SVN to generate a working copy without the .svn directories in it?

• Flex 3 and flash player caching

  hi, i pass text strings from a configuration file into my Flex app, one of the strings i pass in is a mailto link which i use to allow users of my app to send me feedback. I recently needed to change this link however when i updated the link in my config file the change did not happen instantly in my Flex app. In fact i had to clear my cache (both browser and flash player) before the change showed up. This of course is fine for me but how can i be sure that users of the application also get the updated content? Is there a way to force a refresh of data loaded into my swf on other users browsers? Finally is this an issue with my browser cache or the Flash player cache? Does the flash player only keep such data, like my email address, in memory while the app is in use and then clear once it is closed or does it cache this data for the next time the user wants to use the app?   I have known that If you define a bunch of @"" NSString objects in the source code in Mac OS. These NSStrings will be stored in a segment in the Mach-O library. Section sectname __ustring segname __TEXT addr 0x000b3b54 size 0x000001b7 offset 731988 align 2^1 (2) reloff 0 nreloc 0 flags 0x00000000 reserved1 0 reserved2 0 If I hex dump the binary, they are aligned closely one by one with a 0x0000as separator. What I want to know is how does the loader in Mac OS X load these NSStrings when the program runs? Are they loaded simpily by recognize the 0x0000 separator or these is a string offset table elsewhere in the binary pointing to separate NSString objects? Thanks. (What I really want to do is the increase the length of one of the NSString, so I have to know how the loader recognize these separate objects)

• C++ STL map.find() not finding my stuff

  Hello, I have constructed a map and loaded it with data. If I iterate over all the elements I see they are all valid. However, the find method doesn't find my item. I'm sure it's something stupid I am doing. Here is snippet: // definitions // I am inserting a person class and using the firstname as the key typedef std::map<char*,Person *> mapType; mapType _myMap; mapType::iterator _mapIter; ... • Dynamically loading JavaScript synchronously

  I'm using the module pattern, one of the things I want to do is dynamically include an external JavaScript file, execute the file, and then use the functions/variables in the file in the return { } of my module. I can't figure out how to do this easily.   Using this bootstrap modal extension and animate.css for fun, how can I take a make an easy ajax modal using :remote => true to fill in the modal box? Also, how would I use the bootstrap modal default "submit/cancel" buttons to interact with a form that's loaded? I'm looking for a more dynamic solution instead of hard-html-ing every modal into the page or using a bunch of jquery ajax calls for each dialog. I've done a few quick searches, but they've turned up nil for this particular solution.

• does a ruby on rails rack class get access to the entire rails environment?

  that is when the def call(env) method is invoked by hitting any url, can I inside that method make some ActiveRecord queries, use classes defined in lib, etc. etc. Or is it more like an irb console without the rails env loaded? Another way to put it with a rake task example: task :foo => :environment do # with env end task :foo2 do # without env end I would think rack classes would NOT get the environment so they are super fast and don't take all the overhead of a normal rails request. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I CAN make ActiveRecord queries inside my rack class. So what is the advantage of rack then?

• Strip text of all formatting on paste

  I have an application that allows the user to create an article. The problem arises when the user pastes from something like Word which comes loaded with a bunch of markup. I'm using a jQuery editor called tiny_mce which allows the markup. I do a htmlencode and decode obviously but it means that i carry a huge payload of markup. Is there a way to strip (all) markup from pasted text and just keep the text? Or is there a way that tiny_mce can show the markup as text?

• JNI: dll function works ok in C++ main, but not with dll wrapper

  I have an a.dll (not modifiable as i do not have the source) with a function bool openPort(DWORD mem).I wrote a c++ main, loaded this dll using LoadLibrary, and the function works well.It returns true. Now, I need to call this function from Java via JNI. • Xcode 3.1.2 locks up when loading C++ project...?

  I have a project which builds correctly from the command line. On one of my Macs (10.5) running Xcode 3.1.2, I can load it and build it in the Xcode IDE. On my other Mac (same configuration of software), Xcode sometimes loads the project, but always locks up with a spinning beach ball at some point before the build is done. Sometimes this occurs as the project is loaded, sometimes late in the build. I've tried doing a 'clean' on the project, I've tried pulling in the source code fresh from source control. So far, no luck -- I have to kill Xcode and in effect, cannot develop on this particular Mac. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Xcode. Any clues?

• How to access parent window variables from object

  I've got an XHTML 1.1 Strict document that is loading another XHTML 1.1 document in an <object> element (as <iframe> isn't part of the XHTML 1.1 spec). I'm having trouble in IE8 (don't care about 6 or 7) with accessing a javascript variable, Lightbox, in the parent window, from the document loaded in the <object>. In Firefox and everywhere I've seen online, I can just use window.parent.Lightbox. In IE8 however, I get it being undefined. window.parent does give me an object but it doesn't have my Lightbox variable. I've also tried window.Lightbox, window.top.Lightbox, and window.top.document.Lightbox, but all return undefined. I should mention I'm using Javascript to set the data property of the <object> - but I don't see how that could affect anything relevant. What Javascript Fu do I need to do to be able to access my Lightbox variable?

  Heya! I'm making a role-playing game, and I want to have a Map View and a Battle Screen. With the possibility of other screens as well. I thought the best way to achieve this was to use multiple NIB files. When I prototyped this by have one view that creates content, switches to the next view, and then back, the content on the original view was reset. How do I make it so that the first view doesn't reset the data each time it's loaded? Thanks!

  "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." Hi, I am trying to load a php page on apache , but none of the static content gets loaded. Using firebug I captured the static url and tried it separately, when I received "The connection was reset" message. The site works other computers mac, windows, linux but no on mine. I have deleted the cache, disabled firewall, changed my dns service and followed every possible suggestion on the web. I have no clue on why this is happening. Stack-overflow has been my bible and has never let me down before, hope it still doesn't ... Thanks a lot in advance .... please please please , i really have to figure out this error. Regards Dilip

• Callback for When jqGrid Finishes Reloading?

  Hi, I am using the jqGrid plug-in and at one point I need to refresh the grid and set the selected row to match the record that I am showing in detail on another section of the page. I have the following code but it does not work: $("#AllActions").trigger("reloadGrid").setSelection(selectedRow); The selectedRow parameter comes from an event handler that gets called when the data is changed and the grid needs to be updated. I'm pretty sure that the problem is that the grid is not loaded when the selection is being set, because if I put a call to alert() between the calls to trigger() and setSelection(), it works. • Flymake quits right ahead after loading with js2-mode

  When opening .js files, js2-mode and, subsequently, flymake-js is automatically loaded. But flymake unloads right ahead with the message Toggling flymake-mode off; better pass an explicit argument. However, when enabling it manually, using M-x flymake-mode, it keeps activated. Has anybody encountered similar behavior and has fixed it? My setup: I followed the instructions on emacswiki to set up Flymake to work with the most recent js2-mode with a little modification: (add-hook 'js2-mode-hook '(lambda () (flymake-js-load))) instead of (add-hook 'javascript-mode-hook '(lambda () (flymake-js-load)))

  Hello there, so here is my problem: I have several different configuarion servers. I have different calculations (jobs); I can predict how long approximately each job will take to be caclulated. Also, I have priorities. My question is how to keep all machines loaded 99-100% and schedule the jobs in the best way. Each machine can do several calculations at a time. Jobs are pushed to the machine. The central machine knows the current load of each machine. Also, I would like to to assign some kind of machine learning here, because I will know statistics of each job (started, finished, cpu load etc.). How can I distribute jobs (calculations) in the best possible way, keeping in mind the priorities? Any suggestions, ideas, or algorithms ? FYI: My platform .NET.

• How to use Map element as text of a JComboBox

  I am populating a JComboBox (using addItem()) with all the elements of a collection. Each element in the collection is a HashMap (so its a ComboBox of Hashmaps..). My question is - Given that I need each item to be a HashMap how do I set the text to apear in the combobox on the GUI? It needs to be the value of a certain key in the map. Normally if I am populating a combobox with my own type, I would just overide the toString() method...but I am not sure how to acheive this since I am using a Java HashMap. Any ideas (if possible, without implementing my own HashMap)? Update: It seems like there isn't anyway to avoid having the object int the JComboBox overide toString() if I want custom functionality..I wish there was a way to (1) specify the objects to be loaded into the JComboBox and (2) specify how these objects are to appear in the GUI.

• When loading shopping cart in Magento with a new Payment module, I get an error I haven't been able

  I am trying to add a new payment module into Magento. However, even after commenting out the vast majority of the code, I still get the following error: Fatal error: Call to a member function isAvailable() on a non-object in /var/www/html/app/code/core/Mage/Payment/Helper/Data.php on line 71 I am using Magento 1.4.0.1, and have disabled the cache. I even emptied the cache several times just in case. The only code currently not commented out is based on the tutorials here and here. The error occurs when the cart is loaded either from the administration area or the front end. Is there anyone out there that has run into a similar issue? I would post code, but I am not sure what needs to be posted. Thanks for the assistance.

• Javascript appending onload to a popup window

  I'm trying to append an onload event to a popup window in the following manner: var explorerWindow = window.open(PARAMS...); explorerWindow.onload = function() {window.opener.unlockObj(id);} The idea is to make the button that generates the popup window readonly, making it usable again once the popup window has loaded all of its contents. However, the event doesn't seem to be firing at all. I even changed it to the following and got nothing: explorerWindow.onload = function() {alert("bloop");} Is there something terribly wrong with my syntax or am I missing something else entirely? Also, I'm using JQuery if there are any appropriate gems there that will help in this situation. I tried the following with similar results, but I'm not so sure I got the call right: $(explorerWindow).load(function() {alert("bloop");}); Any help is greatly appreciated.

  I'm new to DOM and I'm having trouble removing multiple images that I loaded this loads 7 images (1.jpg, 2.jpg, etc..) function loadImages() { for (var i = 1; i < 8; i++ ) { var img = document.createElement("img"); img.src = "images/"+i+".jpg"; var idName = "img"+i+""; document.getElementById(idName).appendChild(img); } } this should remove all of them, but doesn't.. I think it breaks at the removeChild line. function removeImages() { for (var i = 1; i < 8; i++ ) { var idName = "img"+i+""; var d = document.getElementById(idName); d.removeChild(document.getElementById(img)); } } I think I'm doing something fundamentally wrong, because I don't fully understand how this works...

• Can NSUserDefaults be used for pausing the application during a phone call ?

  Friends, currently I dont have iphone to test and using Simulator for testing purposes. I am Just curious to know whether an application continues to run even after a phone call.. here i have no option to test this from simulator. If it terminates then how can i pause things.. and continue after a phone call. Is NSUserDefaults can be used for my case. As far I understood NSuserDefaults are used to store data that is required when the App is next time loaded. But here I dont want my App to terminate instead pause until Call ends and continue as uninterrupted later. Please clear me about this. Sorry I am still a beginner so I request for no harsh replies if my question looks stupid. Thanks in Advance

• Hard Coded Paths in a .NET Program

  I am developing an application in C#. I have a folder called myfolder it contains a file called mypoints.bmp. The folder myfolder is in my project folder it is in D drive. The path is D:\Myproject\myfolder\mypoints.bmp. Now, in my program, whereever I need mypoints.bmp I have hardcoded the whole path. When my project is copied in to a different system under C drive, I am not able to run my project because of the hardcoded path. How can I give the path so that there will not be any problem even if it is loaded in to a different system under a different drive.

  I'm trying to write a Java app that imports a data file. The process is as follows Create Transaction Delete all rows from datatable Load data file into datatable Commit OR Rollback if any errors were encountered. The data loaded in step 3 is mostly the same as the data deleted in step3. The deletion is performed using the following DetachedCriteria criteria = DetachedCriteria.forClass(myObject.class); List<myObject> myObjects = hibernateTemplate.findByCriteria(criteria); hibernateTemplate.deleteAll(myObjects); When I then load the datafile, i get the following exception nested exception is org.hibernate.NonUniqueObjectException: a different object with the same identifier value was already associated with the session: The whole process needs to take place in transaction. And I don't really want to have to compare the import file / data table and then perform an insert/update/delete to get them into sync. Any help would be appreciated.

• get the installed path of a vb.net application

  Hi guys... I'm nearly ready to distribute my vb.net application. I have several picturebox files which are loaded currently from c:/temp I need to change this directory to one that will be OK to use when the user installs it to their PC. My question is how can I do this? Is there a way to get the installation path, then use that within the code as a variable? eg: myInstalledPath & "/xxx.jpg" Or... would it be better for me to use mypictures within the mydocuments structure? I'd rather keep all the image files created in a folder which is more hidden from the user (by hidden I mean not cluttering up their own image folders!) I've tried searching for this, but I seem to get varying results with no real answers... (possibly searching for the wrong thing!)
