  • PHP: simple form encoding/decoding

    - by Lennart
Hi guys, Probably, this question has been asked before, though, I'll ask it again. Currently, I'm facing a problem with form encoding. When posting my form, all spaces are replaced by the "+" character. I would like to replace this "+" character by a real space. Does someone has a PHP solution for this? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Lennart

  • Where do interfaces belong in a multitier application

    - by Russell Steen
So say you have a three tier application with the tiers UI, Services, and Repository for a simple application, let's say saving addresses. If AddressService has an interface IAddressService, where does that interface belong? I know that "in the address service" may seem like an obvious answer, but if it's in the address service it would seem to defeat the point of having the interface such that any service library could be swapped in as long as it implemented IAddressService. (specifically this is in a .net problem space, but it's probably more general so it's tagged architecture)

  • bin_at in dlmalloc

    - by chunhui
    In glibc malloc.c or dlmalloc It said "repositioning tricks"As in blew, and use this trick in bin_at. bins is a array,the space is allocated when av(struct malloc_state) is allocated.doesn't it? the sizeof(bin[i]) is less then sizeof(struct malloc_chunk*)? Who can describe this trick for me? I can't understand the bin_at macro.why they get the bins address use this method?how it works? Very thanks,and sorry for my poor English. /* To simplify use in double-linked lists, each bin header acts as a malloc_chunk. This avoids special-casing for headers. But to conserve space and improve locality, we allocate only the fd/bk pointers of bins, and then use repositioning tricks to treat these as the fields of a malloc_chunk*. */ typedef struct malloc_chunk* mbinptr; /* addressing -- note that bin_at(0) does not exist */ #define bin_at(m, i) \ (mbinptr) (((char *) &((m)->bins[((i) - 1) * 2])) \ - offsetof (struct malloc_chunk, fd)) The malloc_chunk struct like this: struct malloc_chunk { INTERNAL_SIZE_T prev_size; /* Size of previous chunk (if free). */ INTERNAL_SIZE_T size; /* Size in bytes, including overhead. */ struct malloc_chunk* fd; /* double links -- used only if free. */ struct malloc_chunk* bk; /* Only used for large blocks: pointer to next larger size. */ struct malloc_chunk* fd_nextsize; /* double links -- used only if free. */ struct malloc_chunk* bk_nextsize; }; And the bin type like this: typedef struct malloc_chunk* mbinptr; struct malloc_state { /* Serialize access. */ mutex_t mutex; /* Flags (formerly in max_fast). */ int flags; #if THREAD_STATS /* Statistics for locking. Only used if THREAD_STATS is defined. */ long stat_lock_direct, stat_lock_loop, stat_lock_wait; #endif /* Fastbins */ mfastbinptr fastbinsY[NFASTBINS]; /* Base of the topmost chunk -- not otherwise kept in a bin */ mchunkptr top; /* The remainder from the most recent split of a small request */ mchunkptr last_remainder; /* Normal bins packed as described above */ mchunkptr bins[NBINS * 2 - 2]; /* Bitmap of bins */ unsigned int binmap[BINMAPSIZE]; /* Linked list */ struct malloc_state *next; #ifdef PER_THREAD /* Linked list for free arenas. */ struct malloc_state *next_free; #endif /* Memory allocated from the system in this arena. */ INTERNAL_SIZE_T system_mem; INTERNAL_SIZE_T max_system_mem; };

  • ReadProcessMemory to memcpy conversion. Need help

    - by Phil
I'm using: ReadProcessMemory(hProcess,(PVOID)(dwEngine_DLL+0x2E15C8+i),&memSnap[i],1,NULL); //Store the memory into a byte array To store a section of memory into an array of byte, but I realized this was sloppy since I'm in the same address space, but I'm not sure how to do the same thing with memcpy.

  • jvm issue at startup

    - by Mack
I can set the max memory as 1000 and not more than that, if I set the memory more than that, it throws the following error. Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap Could not create the Java virtual machine. My question is, why jvm looks for the max memory at startup? Thanks in advance.

  • Are GUIDs the ultimate ID?

    - by mafutrct
I noticed some people don't bother having the usual incremented number as ID but instead simply generate a GUID. The advantages include: Quick and easy No need to keep track of previous IDs Guaranteed to be unique even across machines without knowledge of each other Some disadvantages are: Possibly performance bottleneck Uses a large number of bytes My understanding is that using a GUID is beneficial in most cases, except if optimization for time or space is an issue. Did I miss something? Or do you agree with this idea?

  • html horizontal scrolling

    - by mp
Hi, i have a simple css example, and i can't understand the behavior of one of my divs, when the horizontal scroll is displayed. so...when my browser window needs to display the horizontal scroll(when the window width is less than my div "content" width(1024px)), my div "footer" (that have the same "content's" parent and 100% width), seems to get an "extra blank space" on the right side. this space grows when I reduce the width of the window. any ideas about how can i get it off, or why it happens??thanks! heres my code: css: <style type="text/css"> html, body { height: 100%; width:100%; font-family:"Arial Black", Gadget, sans-serif; font-size:11px; font-variant:normal; } * { margin: 0; } .wrapper { min-height: 100%; height: auto !important; height: 100%; margin: 0 auto -4em; } #content{ width:1024px; margin:0px auto; background-color:#990; height:780px; } .footer, .push { height: 4em; width:100%; } #footer-content{ height:10px; background-color:#09F; width:100%; } </style> html: <body> <div class="wrapper"> <div id="content"> <p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Nullam scelerisque varius tortor vitae pretium. Quisque magna ipsum, accumsan sit amet pretium sed, iaculis feugiat nibh. Donec vitae dui eros, eu ultricies nulla. Morbi aliquet, nisi in tincidunt rutrum, nisl justo sagittis nisi, nec dignissim orci elit vitae tortor. </p> </div> <div class="push"></div> </div> <div class="footer" style="background-color:#900; width:100%;"> <div id="footer-content"></div> </div> </body>

  • How to connect an existing strongly-typed data set to a different server at run time?

    - by Kiril
I am coding a simple space empire management game in Visual C# 2008, which relies on connecting to a remote SQL server database to get/store data. I would like the user to be able to connect to a user-specified SQL server from the login screen(he specifies IP address, port, database name, ID, password and presses "connect" button). However, I found out that the Dataset connection string property is read only and cannot be changed. Is there any way to guide the wizard-generated DataSet to a user-specified server at run time?

  • bash: expanding variables with spaces

    - by adam n
i have a file called physics 1b.sh in bash, if i try x="physics 1b" grep "string" "$x".sh grep complains: grep: physics 1b: No such file or directory. However, when i do grep "string" physics\ 1b.sh it works fine. So i guess the problem is something to do with the variable not being expanded to include the backslash that grep needs to recognize the space. How do i get this to work? using bash 3.2, mac os 10.6.

  • What is the best way to produce a tilde in LaTeX for a website?

    - by vgm64
Following the previous questions on this topic, when you produce a website in LaTeX what is the best way to produce a url that contains a tilde? \verb produces the upper tilde that does not read well, and $\sim$ does not copy/pase well (adding a space when I do it). Solutions? It seems like this should be one of those things that has a very easy fix... if it doesn't, why not?

  • tabs and spaces

People have been telling me to use spaces for indents, rather than tabs. But is it just me or is it a pain to hit the space bar 4, 8, times every few lines? Is there something I'm missing? Thanks.
