• Solution to combine two submit buttons.. doing two different things from the same input

  I am trying to figure out how to combine two different forms, both require the same input but they do two different things. One form sends a request to the ecommerce platform to get the order status, and another form takes the same order number and returns a tracking code from USP or USPS. I am looking for some guidance on how I could combine these two actions.. one is currently using the POST method and the other GET. Here is an example .. so one is This one runs a validation script to confirm the order number is valid and then returns the order info if it is the second form is sending a get request to an asp file that is generating the proper tracking numbers. Can someone please point me to how I could begin to tackle this?

• Save Xml in an Excel cell value causes ComException

  I am trying to save an object (Class1) as string in a cell value. My issue is that from time to time I have a ComException: HRESULT: 0x8007000E (E_OUTOFMEMORY) (It is kind of random but I have not identified any particular pattern yet) when I write the value into a cell. Any ideas will be welcome For illustration purposes: Let Class1 be the class to be converted to an Xml string. (Notice that I removed the xml declaration at the start of the string to avoid having the preamble present- non printable character) <Class1 xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" <ElementID HL690375</ElementID </Class1" Class1 myClass = new Class1(); this class is converted to a string s. s= ConvertObjectToXmlString(myClass); then s is assigned to a cell Range r = Application.ActiveCell; r.Value2 = s; Note: (1) If the string is too big, I limit it to 32000 chars and split the string in chunks of 32000 chars and save the chunks in multiple cells. • Database table design vs. ease of use.

  I have a table with 3 fields: color, fruit, date. I can pick 1 fruit and 1 color, but I can do this only once each day. examples: red, apple, monday red, mango, monday blue, apple, monday blue, mango, monday red, apple, tuesday The two ways in which I could build the table are: 1.- To have color, fruit and date be a composite primary key (PK). This makes it easy to insert data into the table because all the validation needed is done by the database. PK color PK fruit PK date 2.- Have and id column set as PK and then all the other fields. Many say thats the way it should be, because composite PKs are evil. For example, CakePHP does no support them. PK id color fruit date Both have advantages. Which would be the 'better' approach?

• adding new Input to jquery validationEngine form?

  I have some fairly complex ajax logic etc going on in the onValidationComplete function for a form with jQuery Validation Engine. This is working perfect, but one thing is bothering me. in the form I have the ability to dynamically add inputs (add new row button). so my code structure wise looks like: var form = $('#myForm'); form.validationEngine('attach', {onValidationComplete:validationComplete}); $('#newInput').on('click', function(){ form.append('<input />'); form.validationEngine('detach'); form.validationEngine('attach', {onValidationComplete:validationComplete}); }); function validationComplete(form, status){/*all my logic here*/} What I don't like about it is that every time I add a new input I have to detach and then re-attach the validationEngine. Is there any way to just tell it to add the new input to it's list of inputs to validate?

• Codeigniter: A nice straight forward tutorial on how to build a reset password/forgotten password?

  I've built a full sign up system with user account activation, login, validation, captcha etc. To complete this I now need to implement a forgot password/reset password feature.. I have created one function that generates a random password 8 characters, another method that takes that random password word and applies sha1 and hashing. Also one that takes that hashed password and stores it in a table in the database. I will keep these methods to one side as they might come in handy later on but for now I would like to know if anyone can point me to a nice tutorial for creating a password reset feature for my website. • jquery to php (wait for php script until result/finish)

  Hi, I am executing a php call from javascript(jQuery), php sript is sending result back. The problem is that these php scripts are taking some time (milliseconds), and java script is not waiting for them to finish, thus variables are not getting initialized with correct values. The code is simple: $.get("php/validation.php",{'email':email},function(data){ // valid_email now contains true/false alert(data); if(data=="true"){ var valid_email = true;} }); The "alert" is printing true but value of valid_mail is recognized as "false" in the code below. • Best way to globally set every control's ValidationGroup property in an asp.net?

  I have a User Control with form items that is re-used considerably throughout a large web application, and up until this point the validation summary upon an invalid form submission is being handled by the .aspx that consumes the User Control. Now I need to set the ValidationGroup property at runtime for each of my form items controls (textboxes, lists, validators, etc). Rather than do it manually by setting each control I'm interested in iterating through all the controls in the User Control, detecting if that control has a ValidationGroup property, and setting it's value that way. Something like this: For Each ctrl As System.Web.UI.Control In Me.Controls ' so now what is the proper way to detect if this control has the ValidationGroup property Next Code sample in vb.net or c# works for me. • Is there a good Open Source xml ide?

  I've looked around, and I'm surprised that I can't find an Open Source equivalent to Oxygen or XMLSpy. i.e. A rich XML editor with support for diverse types of validation, XSLT debugging and profiling, and all the other extra bits that make it more than just a text editor with syntax highlighting. I've seen a few (like Jaxe), that that offer different ways to edit xml documents, but nothing that rolls it all up into an IDE-like application. I'm sure this means I've missed some very worthy project. Can anyone point me towards such a thing?

• Entity Framework insert error ("The Version field is required.")

  I am using Silverlight 4 and RIA services. When I try to insert into my database, I get the following error: "Submit operation failed validation. Please inspect Entity.ValidationErrors for each entity in EntitiesInError for more information." Upon inspecting the ValidationErrors, I see: "The Version field is required." Isn't the Version field updated and maintained by the framework? If so, why is it null? If not, how am I supposed to set it?

  Howdy all, I'm running into a problem with some InfoPath C# code while trying to remove an attachment from a form. Basically the process is: User opens form User clicks button File attachment is cleared I've tried adding a blank attachment to my schema that never becomes populated, then setting the original field's value equal to that value by the method below. When debugging the form I catch an error: Schema validation found non-data type errors. All is new to me and the books and the tutorials i find in the web are to technical. I started learning about .xsd schemas and also .xml. In that topic i feel confident, i understand what are the schemas used for and what validation means. Now my next step is learning about JAX-B(Java Api for XML Binding). I rode some about it and i did also some practice in my IDE. But i have lots of basic doubts, that make me stuck and cannot feel confident to continue to the next topic. Ill appreciate a lot if someone could explain me well my doubts: What does it mean mapping and what is a mapping tool? What does it mean binding and what is a binding tool? What does it mean parsing and what is a parsing tool? How is JAX-B related to mapping,binding and parsing? I am seeking for a good answer built by you, not just a copy paste from google(Ive already been online a few hours and only got confused).

• qTip with jQuery dialogs

  I'm using qTip to show validation errors in a grid. The tooltip appears after a failed row save and doesn't disappear until the row is resaved or the changes are canceled. The problem with this is that opening a dialog while the tooltip is visible causes the tooltip to be rendered on top of the dialog. That is because the z-index is hard-coded to 6000+ for all tooltips, while jQuery dialogs are set to 1000+. I could fix this problem by changing the hard-coded value in qTip to <1000, but then tooltips fired from the dialog will appear behind the dialog. Is there anything I can do, aside from changing the qTip code or using a different tooltip library?

• "Intercepting" user input into text box and removing it

  I have a text box that I would like to do some validation on. At the moment I have this code: function updateChanger() { // Validate input var likeMessage = validateInput($("#like").val()); alert(likeMessage); } function validateInput(input) { input = input.replace(/[^a-zA-Z0-9:\(\/\)\s\.,!~]/g, ""); return input; } This successfully trims out unwanted characters in the likeMessage variable, but the character still gets entered into the text box. I would like to stop that from happening. I know it will have something to do with $("#like").val() but the only thing I can think of is just chopping off the end character from the text box value, would this suffice? Thanks for any help!

  Anyone know of a project(s) that seek to abstract form definitions on level higher than WPF, Silverlight, Winforms, WebForms, etc... I'm working on a project where we are fixing up 16 somewhat simple WebForms. But we may convert (and probably will convert to WPF or Silverlight 3 to 4 months from now. I'd rather define these forms once and be done with it. I'm willing to write a small DSL to help define forms, subforms, validation, links, and popups. I'm only looking to solve this for 80% or 90% of the forms. Four are very complicated and I'm willing to hand code these. I guess I'm looking for something like what XUL had hoped to be.

• How to validate a form reCaptcha in MVC C#

  I have a page that contains several forms, by submitting each one of them, next form becomes visible. the last form contains a recaptcha validator, my problem starts here, if i declare an action result for that page like this [CaptchaValidator] public ActionResult myAction(SomeModel model, string lang) { return View("towing", model); } I'm getting an argument null exeption parameter "Challenge", which in fact means that you have to POST those fields from recaptcha for the validation to appear and I cannot post anyting untill the last for is visible and posted. then I've added a news ActionResult like myActionValidated, defined a route for it like: mypage/validate pointing to that actionresult and then i don't know where to go from here, i want simply do display a message if the reCaptcha did not validate and redirect to a URL if it succeeded. I hope I made myself clear. Thank you in advance
