  • SQL datetime LIKE select - why do I need an extra %?

    Can someone explain to me why when I perform a LIKE select in SQL (T-SQL) on a varchar column I can do the following: SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Name LIKE 'Th%' to get names beginning with Th, but when I do the same on a datetime column I need a % before the year, like: SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Date LIKE '%2013%' to get dates in 2013. The datetimes are stored in yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss format. I know I could use a DATEPART style query but I was just interested in why I need the extra % here.

  • calling database driver in java app [basically a swing app]

    I have made a java application that allows a user to choose from certain standards and then allows him to customize those standards according to his needs. Now, the customization [via a swing application] that has been made needs to be persistent. For this we use a database [mysql/access] and hook it to the application so that with each customization made, a table [if non-existent] is created [thus making it runtime and we can not pre-determine the table names or the keys of table etc] and an appropriate entry in the table is made. I have written the driver for this connection. How do I call it in the java application and what approach should I take? I would much appreciate that if somebody can refer me some example that not only shows a sample connection being made via driver but its appropriate calls to the database as well so that i can use it as a guide.

  • How will ASP.NET AJAX be licensed?

    It would be very useful if somebody could indicate what the plans are for releasing and licensing the AJAX extensions. The EULA for Beta 2 states that the software may be used for development and for web site deployment only. Redistribution is explicitly forbidden. Does that imply that it is going to be released under terms different from the .NET framework and ASP.NET or is it just a precaution to prevent developers shipping the Beta? It seems too risky to include AJAX in new products before there is some indication what the model is going to be....

  • SVN update returns nothing, while it should

    Hi everyone, First some background information; I've set up my SVN repository on my local server at home using VisualSVN Server. Using SSH on (or via php/shell script), i am able to check out a folder from this repository to the webserver, all goes well. Also updates and other svn commands execute normaly and return their messages. Now comes the problem, and I'm struggling with this for a few days now. Before I execute the checkout command *svn co http://server_home/folder*, I want to make sure no conflicts are going to happen, so I execute *svn status [folder_on_webserver]*. But this doesn't return the result as expected, it returns nothing. When I execute * svn status --show-updates [folder_on_webserver]* it returns the following: * newfolder * 13 anotherfolder * 13 yetanotherfolder * 13 . Status against revision: 16 As you can see it misses the svn codes (A,U,D). Does somebody knows why the svn update command and the svn codes doesnt work?

    I have a realy hard task here. I am working on an AngularJS web app, which is capable of sending different HTTP methods to our project's Restful Web Service and receiving responses in JSON. Basicaly it looks like this: You can create some REST resource from this application. Let's say an exam. To create an exam - you pick a resource from a list of available resources. This triggers a function, that sends a request to localhost:8080/STEP/api/explain/resorceName and gets a description for this resource. Description looks like this: http://jsonblob.com/534fc022e4b0bb44248d6460 After receiving a response - I start building input fields like follows (allFields - array of field objects for this resource, enumValues - enum values for resource's field if it's property isEnum = true): <div ng-repeat="field in allFields"> <div ng-show={{!field.isEnum}}> <p ng-show={{field.isRequired}}>{{field.name}}*: </p> <p ng-show={{!field.isRequired}}>{{field.name}}: </p> <input type="text" ng-model="updateEntityResource[field.name]" ng-change="getUpdateEntityAsText()" class="form-control" placeholder="{{parseClassName(field.type)}}"> </div> <div ng-show={{field.isEnum}}> <p ng-show={{field.isRequired}}>{{field.name}}*: </p> <p ng-show={{!field.isRequired}}>{{field.name}}: </p> <select ng-model="updateEntityResource[field.name]" ng-change="getUpdateEntityAsText()" class="form-control"> <option></option> <option ng-repeat="enumValue in field.enumValues" label={{enumValue.name}}>{{enumValue.ordinal}}</option> </select> </div> </div> Now, the problem. I need to create a recursive directive, which would be capable of generating fields in such maner as described above for every resource's field that has "restResourceName" not null. To get all it's fields you just send a request to localhost:8080/STEP/api/explain/restResourceName and get similar JSON response as shown above, which is then used to build HTML elements for inputing values into model. Does anyone know how this can be achieved using angular recursive directive? Every useful answer is highly appreciated and evaluated. Also is it possible to pass argument to $this-action in a view script ?   • Regarding Standard Oxford Format for vlfeat sift

    One of my upper classmen has gave me a data set for experimenting with vlfeat's SIFT, however, her extracted SIFT data for the frame part contains 5 dimensions. Recall from vl_sift function: [F,D] = VL_SIFT(I) Each column of D is the descriptor of the corresponding frame in F. F normally contains 4 dimensions which consists of x-coordinate, y-coordinate, scale, and orientation. So I asked her what is this 5th dimension, and she pointed me to search for "standard oxford format" for sift feature. The thing is I tried to search around regarding this standard oxford format and sift feature, but I got no luck in finding it at all. If somebody knows regarding this, could you please point me to the right direction?

    I am extremely confused as to how a JButton works. I have read over the oracle documents of the JButton, but I have failed to see how a JButton can have an actionlistener added to it. I have really always wondered how things like JFrames and all that can have things like .addMouseListener and all that. Can anyone explain how a JButton can have an actionListener added to it like the .addActionListener(...) syntax?

    Hi All, I have a specific requirement of extracting text and images from a specific area in a pdf file.The area might be a selected or highlighted or from a given set of coordinates. When i went through, all the approaches are to extract images and text entirely from the PDF on not in a specified location. I tried with iTextSharp,Syncfussion,Apose but couldn figure out a better approach for this. If somebody could help me out in this it would be greatfull.     I had never noticed the __path__ attribute that gets defined on some of my packages before today. According to the documentation: Packages support one more special attribute, __path__. This is initialized to be a list containing the name of the directory holding the package’s __init__.py before the code in that file is executed. This variable can be modified; doing so affects future searches for modules and subpackages contained in the package. While this feature is not often needed, it can be used to extend the set of modules found in a package. Could somebody explain to me what exactly this means and why I would ever want to use it?

  • sIFR seems to be loading correctly but not displaying text.

    I'm Using sIFR 3r436, and although I believe everything is set up correctly, and my console shows that the .swf font file is loading correctly, the HTML type is hidden but the sIFR type is not displaying. Below is a link to the site in question: Schaffer's Website Below is a link to a test site that uses exactly the same sifr-config.js, sifr.js, css, and swf files. And it works. The main difference between the two is the server that they are running on. Schaffer's Test Site I'm hoping that maybe somebody can see a problem that I'm unable to. Appreciate the help!
