  • What to do with lookup entities selected from drop down select ? How to send them to the service lay

    I am developing a spring mvc based application. I have a simple pojo form object, the problem is that many properties will be taked from drop down lists that are populated from lookup entities, so I return the entity ID to the form object. public NewCarRequestForm { private makeId; // this are selected from a drop down. private modelId; } Should I just send this lookup entity ID to the service layer? or should I validated that this ID is correct (Somebody can send any random ID through the request) before and how? Now there is a problem if I want to validated something based on some property of the lookup entity. Do I perform a database lookup of the entity just to perform the validation? thanks.

  • Do really need a count lock on Multi threads with one CPU core?

    If i have some code looks like this(Please ignore the syntax, i want to understand it without a specified language): count = 0 def countDown(): count += 1 if __name__ == '__main__': thread1(countDown) thread2(countDown) thread3(countDown) Here i have a CPU with only one core, do i really need a lock to the variable count in case of it could be over-written by other threads.     For the first time I am needing to join information from two tables and am quite nervous about doing it without any advice first. Basically, I am building a secure site that is accessed by authorised users. I have my login table with user_id, username, password Once the user is on the site, they have the option of inputting data into another table called input. At the moment this table only captures the information that is entered, not the user_id or username of the inputter. I would like the form to be able to input the user_id and/or username from the login table into the input table. Please could somebody talk me through this process? I am sure that once this is amended, I will then be able to use the table to only allow the logged in user to access the information that he or she have inputted, is that correct? Many thanks

  • Dictionary to Json object, "Expected expression"

    I'm trying to convert a dictionery into a json object, so that I can work with it in my front end. sortFields = <%= SchrodersHtmlHelper.ToJson(ViewData["SortInfo"])%>; However, I keep on getting "Expected expression" for this all the time and I'm clueless why. Could anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? Edit: The conversion works fine, but I still get this issue in the front end, causing the browser to complain about it.

  • Password verification; Is this way of doing it safe?

    I have a classifieds website, where everybody may put ads of their products. For each classified, the user has to enter a password (so that they can delete the classified whenever they wish). So basically, when somebody wants to delete a classified, they click on the classified, click on the delete button, and enter the pass. I use MySql as a database. I use this code basically: if ($pass==$row['poster_password']) where row[poster_password] is fetched from MySql... What do you think? Thanks

So, i'm need to each articles of the page (these articles are dynamic) and verify, in a local xml how articles are read.To article read i'm set a determinated css class,and if not, another css class. To do it, i'm checking all elements of type "DIV" in page using this code line: HtmlElementCollection col = webBrowser.Document.GetElementsByTagName("div"); I'm wanna filter the div's to get only 'divs' that i will change and not all div's of page Somebody can help me?   • A Few Questions About QT

    Is it free? It looks like on the website it says "Try Now", which makes me worry that it just gives you a demo. Do you have to pay the QT company anything to distribute a program using QT, or can you just throw it (the program) out there and just say you used QT. Is it native c++, or something wierd, like, the same way .NET programs aren't actual c++, they just look like it. Would somebody who uses my program have to install the QT framework before they can run it, or will the program run without any installation? Can it easily be compiled to work on a Windows, Linux and Mac OS?

  • 301 redirects in .htaccess on apache

    I guess this should be straightforward but my host got me to switch server from zeus to apache following which the .htaccess file with existing individual 301 redirects failed to work causing an internal server error, so have commented them out for the time being. Could someone explain how to set these up to work in their new apache context?   • Enterprise Library logging into database is very slow

    I'm using enterprise library for logging web page events. Because page is load balanced I have to store logs in database on different server (requirement). Sadly, I found storing around 20 entries per page request is very slow (adds additional ~10s). Can anybody explain why this happens and how to fix it. P.S. I'm using default pooling settings in logging database connection string.

    I'm developing an .NET4 webapplication using MVC3. Let's say i'm getting the following DateTime as string from an XML-feed. The xml feed is being read by my application and i'm looping through all it's descendants. The DateTime i'm receiving is begin returned in the following format (as string); var myDateTime = "Sun Dec 19 11:45:45 +0000 2010" I'm using the piece of code below to try and parse the DateTime string i mentioned above to a valid DateTime format (preferably dutch) var CorrectDateTime = DateTime.ParseExact(myDateTime , "dd MMM yyyy HH:mm:ss", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); When trying to execute this code i'm facing an formatexception.
