  • Where are Silverlight assemblies stored when a xap file is run?

    We currently have a XAP file which contains Foo.dll, and another XAP file (with a completely different name) which contains an updated version Foo.dll (but the same version number). When we run the second XAP file, it looks as though the Silverlight runtime on the client, is picking up the old version of Foo.dll from the first XAP file. Anyone know where the Silverlight runtime unzips the xap file before running its content? Or if the runtime executes on a single app domain which could explain these errors?

  • MySQL doesn't use index in join query

    I have two tables: comments(id(primary key), author, ip(index)) and visitors(id(primary key), date_time, ip(index)) I want to join them like that: SELECT visitors.date_time FROM comments LEFT JOIN visitors ON ( comments.ip = visitors.ip ) WHERE comments.author = 'author' LIMIT 10 It works, but very slow.. In EXPLAIN it shows that it doesn't use the index on the visitors table: id select_type table type possible_keys key key_len ref rows Extra 1 SIMPLE comments ref author author 78 const 9660 Using where 1 SIMPLE visitors ALL NULL NULL NULL NULL 8033 Any ideas? Overloading on return type is not possible right? Would somebody please explain what's going on here?

    Using C# and WPF under .net (rather than WindowsForms or console), what is the correct way to create an application that can only be run as a single instance? I know it has something to do with some mythical thing called a mutex, rarely can I find someone that bothers to stop and explain what one of these are. The code needs to also inform the already running instance that the user tried to start a second one, and maybe also pass any command line arguments if any existed.

    I am creating an interpreter for my esolang, and I need the user to enter some text which then will be interpreted as an INTERCAL program. I want the user to enter text, which may contain any character including newlines, until the user presses ^X (Ctrl-X), like this: Enter your code followed by ^X: Bla Blablabla Bla^X Thank you for entering your code (line 2, 3 and 4 were entered by the user) can anyone explain me how I can read input including newlines till the user enters ^X?   • Why do toast notifications die if delayed?

    I'm not sure this is the exact cause of my problem but I'll explain the 2 symptoms I noticed: If I put a break point on a Toast.makeText(..).show(), step over, then wait a few seconds before running, the toast will never appear. I have a location callback that tries to show a toast, but it never appears.     enviroment: hibernate 4.1.6.final spring 3.1.2.release spring jpa 1.1.0.release postgresql 9.1-901-1.jdbc4 there is 2 table public A { private Long id; private Long name; } public B { private Long id; private Long table_a_id; } the A.id and B.id is sequential, unique , but no related.(means they are separately id for their own table). how to do mapping? i have tried some method, however the result is not i wanted, because it bind wrong. for example: public A { .... @OneToOne @JoinColumn(name = "id") private B table_b } public B { ... @JsonIgnore @OneToOne(mappedBy = "table_b") private A table_a; } when i query A the result is { "id":5, "table_b":{ "id":5, "table_a_id":4 } } obviously the data join by using their id but not joining using table_a_id. what i expect is { "id":4, "table_b":{ "id":5, "table_a_id":4 } } so can somebody teach me that, how to map this 2 table by using table b table_a_id(foregin key)

  • Is Learning the win32 API Worthwhile?

    I was certain that somebody would have specifically asked this question, but from what I can see no-one has (there's been a question about learning win32 but that doesn't cover whether it's worthwhile doing so). I am very interested in gaining a deeper understanding of all the systems I use (I mostly program in C#, at least professionally), so I wondered, very simply - is learning win32 worthwhile, or is it overkill? Am I wasting my time? Is the knowledge I'd gain worth the effort? Similar / related questions on StackOverflow: Does it still make sense to learn low level WinAPI programming? How relevant is Win32 programming to modern professionals?

    I would need to create a php file that will do some work on my webserver and that will be called from a program on another server over the internet. Suppose the php file that will do the work is located at www.example.com/work.php What is the best way to protect unsollicited calls to the www.example.com/work.php? What I need is some mechanism so that when the intended program accesses the url (with some query string parameters), the work gets done, but if somebody type www.example.com/work.php in their browser, access will be denied and no work will be done. The way I've thought is to add some 'token' in the querystring that would be constructed by some algorithm from the calling program, a sample result could be to append to the url : ?key=randomKeyAtEachCall&token=SomeHexadecimalResultCalculatedFromTheKey and the key and token would be validated with a reverse algorithm on the php side. Is that safe, Are there any better idea?
